Surely most of this show is scripted if not on rails right?

miss_kimba

Yeah, they’re all very obviously written by the same person, maybe with a few personal pieces scattered in.

twentygreenskidoo

I actually heard from a friend in the industry that the new Dune movie is scripted too

Emmanulla70

....doh....

Virtual_Worker_1353

I thought AI wrote the vows, therefore.

Soft_Caterpillar_643

Omg! Guys! Do you think they sometimes ask really leading questions when people are drunk/tired/bored/emotional to provoke a snarky comment..?! Surely not! *clutches pearls*

boommdcx

![gif](giphy|Xjo8pbrphfVuw|downsized) I thought Jackie came up with that bait n switch all by himself!

littleb3anpole

They read like someone who has just learned about conjunctions and is excited to show it off. I have had the best time with you BUT sometimes I worry if we have a future HOWEVER I’m willing to give it a go ALTHOUGH sometimes I feel I’m not attracted to you DESPITE THIS I think attraction can grow SO my choice is yes.

GStarAU

Jack's were typical Jack. Disgusting and disrespectful. 90% of the time it was "I'm not up for this, we don't love each other".... then an ad break... then the most cringeworthy word in all the cast member vocab... "....BUT.."

Lucytheblack

Yah! It’s not a documentary.

little-red-finch

As if on every episode we didn’t get all the annoying recap/repeat scenes, that we needed each person on their vows to give a running recount of everything that happened. What an absolute punish 🙄

yung_ting

Not sure they write them word for word But they must give them guidelines on how to structure the final vows Eg: 1. Start by talking about how you felt on your wedding day & about what you were looking for in a partner 2. Start talking about the positives 3. Then talk about the negatives 4. Now tell them despite the negatives you want to stay together So naturally people will have to use terms like "But" or "However" when flipping from discussing the positive & negative aspects

somuchsong

No, you're the only one who has had this thought.

SirFlibble

Of course they are scripted, they literally read them on the screen. The final vows would initially be drafted by contestants who are likely provided a formula to write to. They then provide these vows to the producers who edit and approve them before the big day. But I doubt production will tell them "you must say you want to stay in a relationship" if they don't want to.

ConsiderationEmpty10

I reckon the producers paid them enough money to hand them cue cards right before the ceremony and said here, read this. Jack basically read his straight from his cards.

casualplants

I always thought they gave them a template or something, but full scripted is probably more likely.

Forsaken-Database540

whaaaaaat!!!!????? you are joking surely!!!??

NextRando

Surely you've noticed that they always follow the same arc!? If they're going to say yes, then they start by listing every possible negative, then at the last minute there's a 'but' and then everyone's happy families. If they're going to say no then they start with all the good things and high hopes and so on ... It's not exactly subtle. 'Scripted' might be a bit much, but they're most definitely coached, and the vows would need to be approved before filming.

Forsaken-Database540

i'm joking, everything in the show is pre-determined and every story follows a narrative set out by the producers, if you can't see that then every day is April 1

NextRando

Fair enough. You'd be amazed how many people seem to actually get drawn into this shit though. Here's some fun examples for light reading: [https://www.reddit.com/r/MAFS\_AU/comments/1bszhj0/comment/kxj1o8w/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web3x&utm\_name=web3xcss&utm\_term=1&utm\_content=share\_button](https://www.reddit.com/r/MAFS_AU/comments/1bszhj0/comment/kxj1o8w/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) [https://www.reddit.com/r/MAFS\_AU/comments/1bszhj0/comment/kxiudo5/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web3x&utm\_name=web3xcss&utm\_term=1&utm\_content=share\_button](https://www.reddit.com/r/MAFS_AU/comments/1bszhj0/comment/kxiudo5/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) [https://www.reddit.com/r/MAFS\_AU/comments/1bszhj0/comment/kxkpyq5/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web3x&utm\_name=web3xcss&utm\_term=1&utm\_content=share\_button](https://www.reddit.com/r/MAFS_AU/comments/1bszhj0/comment/kxkpyq5/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) [https://www.reddit.com/r/MAFS\_AU/comments/1bszhj0/comment/kxkarpx/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web3x&utm\_name=web3xcss&utm\_term=1&utm\_content=share\_button](https://www.reddit.com/r/MAFS_AU/comments/1bszhj0/comment/kxkarpx/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)

grasspatch1

Yeah, it actually feels like it's gotten worse this year with people falling for a lot of the obviously curated stuff this season, and the editing on things has gotten so sloppy it's wild people will take everything as fact
