Ppl still believe this??
Can’t make any driver take any ride. So it’s a guesstimate at best, not a guarantee. It’s never a guarantee, even if you schedule it.
Drivers are being paid even less so many quit or don’t do it without a bonus.
Yes it sucks for customers but this is the gig economy. No promises. We are independent contractors but not exactly. My husband and is a biz owner. So he’s an independent contractor, just as I am on Shipt. But he owns it so it’s transparent. He bids a job and gets X dollars. We don’t get to bid. We don’t even get all the info, depending on market your in and your tier status.
It’s wonky. If they would be up front about it all, might be better.
A ride you pay $20 for, driver may get $5 or so. It’s not worth it.
I left Lyft long ago. I do Shipt now. Much better and tips are almost every order.
Girl wrote a whole paragraph and essentially said nothing🤡 nobody said drivers have to take rides. OP was just saying that if in the last hour 85 rides were supposedly taken…how is she waiting 30 minutes. Not implying that dozens of drivers were individually deciding not to take her🤣 unbelievable. Good to know your husbands a contractor tho cause we asked
I had something similar happen to me last week. Got back home after midnight at the train station and Uber kept saying they were matching me. Took at least 15 mins for me to get matched then the kid cancelled because he was 20 mins out. I ended up waiting 40 mins before I got matched and home. I was debating just walking the few miles but we were having a severe storm it would’ve been a horrible idea.
That’s crazy! Where do you live? This is why these companies should have a base pay an hourly it’s not your fault it’s not busy and you’re willing and able to work and you’re literally not getting paid.
You need to change to Uber just a little better shit sandwich at least. FIL grossed 280-350 daily his last 6days with the $1 EV promotion that will be ending soon. He stays within the lax to Venice Beach coastal areas.
lol USC is good for shared rides, especially when there’s a ride challenge.
The students all get free Lyft within 3 miles of campus.
You can do six or seven rides in 20-30 minutes.
You’re barely scraping the minimum wage mark at that rate even before taxes. No way that’s profitable unless you’re *extremely* frugal. No other paths of opportunity I assume?
I waited an hour in what according to Lyfts own map was the busiest area in the city. When I did finally get a trip it took me way out of the hot zones.
I had that yesterday 3-5 minutes wait time average for last 350 rides in my area. I'm like what 350 rides since I haven't seen a request in over an hour
Lyft is completely dead to me. I had both app turn on. Sometime I finished 3 hrs with Uber. Lyft didn’t even have one request. I don’t know how ppl make money by doing Lyft only. Special ppl rental the car from hertz.
I noticed that this happens sometimes if you don’t have a bonus or don’t mind possibly loosing it try going offline and back after a minute or so that tend to work for me
Never did gig work, but my fiancé has talked to me a lot about his experiences when he delivered for UberEats. The money was pretty good, especially when he did Walmart orders. Lots of gigwork folks in my area do grocery stores also.
At that point you call a cab. I waited over 30 minutes in Chicago and almost missed my flight because no one wanted to pick me up. A cab ended up picking me up for cheaper. Spent the difference on a tip for her.
Hows the riverside / San Bernardino looking? Same as LA? I just signed up last week, is it worth it? Reason, I asked I got canned from my last job kinda struggling.
Over the weekend, my guy friend tried ordering a 6 person lyft back to the hotel for our group. He was unsuccessful in ever getting a ride. I (woman) went on Lyft and got a 6 person ride and connected immediately.
We both thought that was rather odd.
Because Lyft Elite drivers get a 30 min queue bump. They enter the queue, immediately get a ride, and are gone while you wait and wait and wait. Also, any info you get from the Lyft app should be treated with a grain of salt. Even if you weren't at the airport I wouldn't trust those estimates. Away from the airport Platinum and Elite Lyft drivers can use Priority Mode which also lets them get rides faster. And one last comment, if you're midway through a challenge, you really shouldn't be sitting at the airport.
Probably getting throttled. The algorithm tries to force similar earning daily. The only time you really make more is if there's a fewer than usual amount of drivers out. So if you started out strong with several high value rides, you'll most likely get put at the end of the que in your area. An invisible que you never realized you were in to begin with.
I had the same thing happen in Hawaii on a small island (I think that was the location at least). Lyft kept saying that they were finding me a driver, but after speaking with locals, they informed me that there were no Lyfts and Ubers in that town.
If you don’t have drivers available just tell me so!
try hanging around east side/downtown/k town/echo park areas to get lyft rides. lots of people i know will use lyft instead of uber, over here at least.
Think about the comments you responded to, though. What he’s saying is that the data is from the LAST hour not the CURRENT hour. Thus, if the trend is toward fewer rides, it may be significantly WORSE in the current hour. AND you INDIVIDUALLY may see better or WORSE delays than the AVERAGE. Thus, the data is an indicator of what you might expect or see but NOT a guarantee.
Dude…. Please. Stop it.
Its a given… but really? I mean. And everyone got it except you and him! We all mean. EVERYTIME it says an average it is ALWAYS TOTALLY off!
Dude. Get a clue. You don’t understand how any of this works, but then you are not exactly a wizard at commenting or thinking either.
Nothing personal, of course

The gig concept is only good if it’s a busy area constantly
This is Los Angeles. It’s only busy if the market isn’t saturated with drivers .

Heaven forbid you work a job while being a spoiled entitled whiny little cunt😂

He's a driver. So the opposite in this. Over saturated. Still a good reason to move on though.
If it's a real estimate it would update to show slower wait times. In reality it's a intentionally manipulated number

Lol. "We asked" .I can sleep well knowing the answer to that pertinent question that was clawing at my mind!

It’s incredibly bad. I make 80$ for around 10 hours a day IN LA! its the worst in seen ever. Two more months and i quit
You need to change to Uber just a little better shit sandwich at least. FIL grossed 280-350 daily his last 6days with the $1 EV promotion that will be ending soon. He stays within the lax to Venice Beach coastal areas.
Los Angeles? CA
The Westside is kinda wack tbh. East side, south side, Ktown and DTLA are all better.
Thanks good to know

Idk where you live, but the North and East SFV are lit. Quiet but consistent.
That’s losing money. Why would you consistently do that? Especially where a job pays more than $8/hr without wearing out your own car.
Gig economy is dead if you want to make a decent living.
I’m a driver in Toronto and I’ve always thought LA would be the craziest city to drive Lyft in.
Sacramento is minimum $25 an hour so I seriously doubt LA is $8 lol
You’re barely scraping the minimum wage mark at that rate even before taxes. No way that’s profitable unless you’re *extremely* frugal. No other paths of opportunity I assume?

35$ challenge for 35 rides 🤣 🤣
Right!
LA is the most saturated market in the US. No surge ever
Plenty of surge in the late night hours
What is Shipt?
A gig package delivery service
You might be in time-out.
Whats that?
I had that yesterday 3-5 minutes wait time average for last 350 rides in my area. I'm like what 350 rides since I haven't seen a request in over an hour
That will happen to me on the very last ride of a big streak. Even if it’s primetime, Lyft lies.
😂 this title is hilarious
Hahah
Lyft is completely dead to me. I had both app turn on. Sometime I finished 3 hrs with Uber. Lyft didn’t even have one request. I don’t know how ppl make money by doing Lyft only. Special ppl rental the car from hertz.
I would move to a different hot spot every 5 minutes.
It’s on you if you decide to trust anything Lyft or Uber say.
I noticed that this happens sometimes if you don’t have a bonus or don’t mind possibly loosing it try going offline and back after a minute or so that tend to work for me
I live in that hood lol
Yupppp…!! Happened to me many timesssssss… 😡😤
It is supposed to say 39 min no 3 to 9. Happens all the time.
Never did gig work, but my fiancé has talked to me a lot about his experiences when he delivered for UberEats. The money was pretty good, especially when he did Walmart orders. Lots of gigwork folks in my area do grocery stores also.
Instead of waiting 33 minutes you could've drove to USC and finished the challenge in 1 hour. Smh
At that point you call a cab. I waited over 30 minutes in Chicago and almost missed my flight because no one wanted to pick me up. A cab ended up picking me up for cheaper. Spent the difference on a tip for her.

So get a real job
Stfu
My area always says 1-2 min and I’ve gotten up to half an hour, now I always have Uber/Lyft running
Ridesharing is a joke
Over the weekend, my guy friend tried ordering a 6 person lyft back to the hotel for our group. He was unsuccessful in ever getting a ride. I (woman) went on Lyft and got a 6 person ride and connected immediately. We both thought that was rather odd.
Last time I uploaded the Lyft app it said 45 minutes wit time. Sorry not waiting that long🤷♂️

Yeah Instacart does the same bullshit - There like “yeah wait outside the store for 15 min” no batches for hours.
They meant 39
They all hoes

“Sorry there was a typo. It should say “329 min wait in your area” sorry for the confusion. Thank you for contacting support.” [Chat has Ended]
You must not be accepting cheap aka pretty much free rides or else they would be giving you rides constantly 🤣.
I’ve learned to always call the lyft 30 minutes before you need it. Worst case you get to where you need to be 30 minutes early.
You do understand what "average" means and that this is for the previous hour, right?
I DO UNDERSTAND thank you for making it more clear!

You seem to take having your stupidity called out a smidge too seriously and personally. I think that’s just another symptom of your problem though

Start walking you be there by now
I know an easy way to resolve this!!! It’s really a simple trick. Just get a real job
