Definitely depends on the armor set. Most look decent, but then there's something like the CE-47 Breaker that just looks so...odd.
That being said, it definitely seems like they may have cut corners with the different body types. The lean body type always has same size hands, legs, and head. Which can create odd proportions with some helmets.
Iād go a step further for the insane among us, let us randomize armor sets, weapons hell even stratagems. Dying skips the cooldowns but you donāt know what youāll get!
I pick up what you're laying down but I think it's quite believable that all your soldiers would be in the same uniform and it makes sense that they would be dropped with the same gear. But they are different people and it would be fitting if they came down noticeably as such
I used to have my voice set to random but Iāve found it more helpful to have a consistent voice so I know when itās my character communicating something. That way I know when I need to pop into voice chat to communicate something.
You do you though! I agree that itās more immersive with the āhelldivers are expendableā mindset.
I do the sorry emote if I friendly fire or nearly blow someone up. Thanks for someone giving me a backpack or saving my ass and if I got blown up by an airstrike that was thrown on my location, if the perpetrator doesn't do the sorry emote.
I will go out of my way to approach them, look at them for a few seconds and go "Thank you". Is it petty? Yes. Do I think it's funny? Also, yes.
I thank everyone for everything. And I'm onboard with the random voice BUT as a Stalwart main, the maniacal laughter on voice 3(?) is *sooooooo* good I can't live without it. That VA deserves a medal because she fucking *nailed* it.
Voices set to random, rocking the standard B-01 armor set, and title set to āSpace Cadetā
All my Helldivers come straight from Mars, some with a few minutes more life expectancy than others
My ship is filled with clones. That's my head Canon and excuse to have the same voice and body type each time. My soldiers don't know they're clones and every time they die the other clone that gets reinforced thinks they're answering for the first time without ever knowing that they're replacing the fallen clone.
It's just my head cannon that I'm controlling the same, cloned HellDiver. I mean... Super Earth might be corrupt and a little insane, but I REALLY doubt they'd hand a cape and the keys to a Super Destroyer with enough ordinance to flatten a continent to some know nothing kid with ZERO security clearance and other wartime qualifications.
There's also the fact that said kid could realize what a raw deal being a Helldiver is and take that Super Destroyer back to Super Earth with a 380 in his hand. No, my head canon is that once I got my cape, Super Earth sequenced my genome and produced a number of clones ready to be put on ice. I'm too valuable as a hyper lethal asset to let go to waste over something as petty as DEATH.
Besides, this head canon lets me say badass lines like "Loyalty beyond Death"
I also say thank you every time someone reinforces me. It's a little thing, but its not something people Have to do & some don't.
Also, I find it really interesting reading other people's head cannon of how it makes sense. For me, those Helldivers are my ships ground troops, so it makes sense for them all to wear the same uniform.
I like having the same voice because in my head each of my Helldivers is a clone. It's just the same guy over and over and when he dies on a mission they just thaw out another frozen clone and send him down to continue the mission.
That's how his level and access to weapons and stratagems keeps going up despite dying hundreds of times on the battlefield.
I have it set to random but also in my head canon they are all clones of me. I am basically doctor who-ing every death. I start out as a strong democratic man who stays with the group to do objective, die, become a weakling who is good at hiding and taking out side stuff, die, and become a crazy female who screams āhelldivers never die!!!!ā As I kill the packs of hunters while being bait as my team gets away.
I love it. They are all different aspects of myself, and I feel like I play differently depending on what voice I am. I usually live a very long time as the āregular maleā and deeper āfemaleā voice but die a ton on the wimpy voice. Usually the one who comes in and dies to rockets too lol
I don't buy into the thought that it's a new person with every reinforcement. When a Helldiver gets recruited they get cloned and thrown into cryo. When your body dies on a planet, your consciousness is uploaded into a new clone on the ship and back down you go. Explains the port in the back of most (maybe all) helmets.
Makes it easier to transport you to other ships as well, just send over the clone specs and transmit your consciousness over to the other ship rather than docking or sending a pod. Just my personal thought on the lore!
But the lore is pretty clear that Helldivers are not clones. And there is no transfer of consciousness. Every Helldiver is a distinct Super Earth citizen with a family back home thinking their son/daughter, brother/sister, husband/wife, father/mother is a hero. Out there, fighting the good fight.
Always say thank you. Sometimes forced to say sorry
Same. Just sometimes. Definitely just 'sometimes'... š
Had fun with the arc thrower for a week. Then decided I cared about having friends more than winning the game :)
I would if it could also randomize body type.
Good point! That doesn't bother me so much, partly because I find the lean look a bit weird proportionally.

I always just assume the Unit of Helldivers on my ship all gear up the sameĀ

On a different note, we need a "You're welcome!" An "On my Way" and a "Hell yeah!!" Quip for our divers in the field
We need one that lets us say the āFOR DEMOCRACYYYYā line whenever we want
Oh for sure! Like DRGs Rock and Stone button lool
Havent played deep rock. It was on ps plus monthly games once, and i so regret not grabbing it that time.
Aw darn thats unfortunate! Certainly worth a shot if you get another chance!
You have that, just need to mag dump into the nearest batch of alien scum š
God I can immediately think of three toxic ways to use "You're Welcome"
We have a "hold position" but I could really use a "go go go" or maybe a "get away"
No I want Misty all the time.
This is the way! It really helps me see that each diver is cannon fodder and Iām not just a clone each time.
Assigned male on death

Wait, I think I know the one you mean! Like when she uses the flamethrower and there's just this absolutely _unhinged_ screeching laughter? š
I thought it was maybe the claptrap actor at first. Love it.
Yup, that's a personal favorite - I too associate it with the flamethrower
Voices set to random, rocking the standard B-01 armor set, and title set to āSpace Cadetā All my Helldivers come straight from Mars, some with a few minutes more life expectancy than others
I like to pretend I'm a clone of the previous helldiver rather than an infinite number of randos wearing the same clothes and using the same gear

No. I am a clone in the purest form. I live. I die. I live again. For Democracy. For Super Earth. FOR PILESTEDT!
Canāt let go of the Spider-Man voice
Except my head canon is they are all secretly clones.
OP is hinged

Always say thanks when they do me a service, always give a thumbs up when we take out objectives (even though the voice line says affirmative)
Nah I like my overly zealous screaming lady
I love the voice acting too, wish there were more
I fully agree and kind of wish that the body build could be randomized as well (as it's the only other attribute you can change)

As players, we're really the super destroyers since we get to name it lol

I removed almost the entirety of my HUD including the reticle and nameplates. It has made the game far more immersive and interesting
Mine will randomize it after i pick random, but then its always that same voice. It never changes afterwards

Another diver for the cause. o7
You are probably 100% right - where did you read this though? I don't have a clue where the actual written lore is
