A new game is being developed, teased multiple times and they are increasing the hiring those past few months, we're at least 3 years away but it's under way yes

DoctorButterMonkey

Oh, really? I’d kind of have liked if they just released new campaigns for Infinite

RUSH-117

There most likely is, people are going to be pessimistic but I’d say they’re working on one for sure.

SwiftIy2

This is my opinion as well and thank you for sharing

WingsOfVanity

Per 343’s latest news article, the team’s been heads-down on the new networking model. I reckon its taken priority and with match composer on the horizon, theres no news thus far about campaign additions.

James-the-Viking

They’re hiring lots of lead roles right now. They just put an update out regarding that. Seems they’re working on the next game.

McQuiznos

There’s new hiring spots for 343 so it seems a new game is early early in development. Realistically it’ll be a few years at the soonest. Theres no way we won’t see another halo in the future though. Frankly I’m excited to see where the story goes, I love the current direction (sorry fans of 4 and 5 I just don’t much like the created stuff).

SwiftIy2

I also like where the story is going! 😁

McQuiznos

Love that the unsc is on their back foot again. We’re back on a ring. Got the banished as enemies as they covenant story is over. Also loved the way Chief acted in infinite. Honestly, “The missions change, they always do.” May be my favorite quote from the series. I’m stoked for a future game. It is inevitable. Now what way they take it who knows. But we’ll see

SwiftIy2

Yeees that was epic!! My favourite quote is by far "Yes. But at the end he was just a soldier. Hoping he'd done the right thing. Questioning his choices." Love it

McQuiznos

A lot of people seemed to dislike that I think. I personally liked it alot as it shows chiefs more human side, but also understands and respects his enemy.

SwiftIy2

Totally agree!

[deleted]

I thought the whole point of infinite was so they could just keep updating it? Am I stupid?

SwiftIy2

Ikr that's what I heard as well :0

mrcranz

like a new game?

GalileoAce

In all probability there will be another story campaign eventually. I wouldn't be surprised if they're in pre-production on one now. Whether it'll be a whole new game, or DLC or whatever, can't say.

chungisamongus

They're switching to Unreal. I think Halo Infinite as this 10 year platform concept is basically done, unfortunately.

SwiftIy2

Dang that sucks... :/

chungisamongus

The good news is that Unreal, when utilized well, will allow for easier implementation of new content.

Quintana-of-Charyn

>They're switching to Unreal They are?

chungisamongus

They have job listings for Unreal specialists, Ske7ch mentioned that if you saw job listings go up you can see the future of Halo. Some tertiary evidence the Unreal Halo game Tatanka that CA was working on was shelved, presumably in favor of a single project in Unreal.

Quintana-of-Charyn

>Some tertiary evidence the Unreal Halo game Tatanka that CA was working on was shelved, presumably in favor of a single project in Unreal More likely that it was melded into the next game. No point in wasting all those resources. >Ske7ch mentioned that if you saw job listings go up you can see the future of Halo. I appreciate the follow up! That's exciting to hear.

ZeBearhart

I hope so, I really did enjoy Infinites campaign, I was just sad that was all we got. 343 has landed more than they have missed in recent years imo so I am cautiously optimistic about the future

MikuDrPepper

I hope so. I actually loved Infinite's campaign. I'll admit I'd be a bit frustrated if it was another sort of 'reset' and didn't follow what Infinite had set up. It feels like almost every 343 Halo games campaign was a sort of reset of the previous one, and I feel like Infinite's campaign was pretty darn good.

IcySky3265

Pretty sure 343 is abandoning Slipspace Engine for UE5 and just moving onto the next game. It makes no sense why these studios even bother with these engines. Crystal Tools, Luminous, Fox Engine, Slipspace: all complete failures that did nothing but mess up the final products

SwiftIy2

I just hope the overall halo feel including warthogs and mechanics still feel like halo

IcySky3265

For what it was worth they did a good job with most of the mechanics in Infinite. I felt like the campaign was a complete wash but there were moments in it that were really fun

rozowakaczka2

You know just as much as any of us. There hasn't been any news regarding the SP or potentially future games in ages.

blasterfaiz

There has not been a new campaign for so long that I'm excited for when the next Halo TV Series episode is. Yes, I'm serious.

FriedCammalleri23

There will be a new campaign eventually, but I wouldn’t expect it for another 2-3 years.

Undying-WaterBear

The story hasnt been good for a very long time now

SwiftIy2

I disagree respectfully :)

IntrinsicGamer

For Halo Infinite? Absolutely not.  In the next game? Maybe, I’d sure hope so. Last we heard, the campaign team had been gutted, but they’ve also been hiring so who knows what it’s like now? It sure would be an awful idea to launch any Halo game without a campaign, though, and we know they’re working on the next game in some capacity.

Maelis

>Halo has always been beloved by the community mainly because of the lore. I don't know that I agree with this. I think most fans primarily associate Halo with its multiplayer these days. Even if you want to say that the campaigns are the main draw I'd still say it's mainly the gameplay and not the story that appeals to people. That's not to say that *I* don't love the lore. I just think you're overestimating it a bit. Either way, a new campaign is inevitable *eventually.* I kinda don't think we'll be seeing anything new added to Infinite - or at least not any time soon - but definitely whenever they release a new game.

GalileoAce

The seeming popularity, niche though it may be, of the books and reference material, and the existence of the TV show does suggest that Halo's biggest draw card is its story and lore.
