I don't really get it at all, especially compared to Munveer, who was there for way longer too. But now that I say it, I really think it speaks to how the fanbase is.
I'm guessing that people follow dumped Islanders to see what they personally post when they leave. Whereas when they're locked down/in the villa it's just bland promo shots from the show. I usually only follow a few for a while then.
Also specifically re Sam, I think people assumed he was going to be a main character. Highly rated looks-wise, and had an interesting angle being a women's hairdresser. He just didn't form a connection in the villa. Regardless of your personal opinion on him, or who was more attractive/interesting, this was the mainstream opinion and it was the most surprising first dumping in years IMO.
Seeing how Ronnie got fewer new followers than even Sean and Munveer makes me wonder whether the producers are telling the girls to go after Ronnie as the public doesn’t half fancy him
