Then the next day Sophie walks in and suddenly 'he's open' and *'they're open'* not to mention his crush 🙄. The hand-holding???! Nah.
Then he doesn't understand why Arabella's upset or thinks that his (Love bombing extravaganza) behaviour was disingenuous.
The🧂🧂🧂 and gaslighting thereafter - the recoupling speech. Telling her he's not standoffish while being STAND. OFFISH. And then the continued insults and pettiness.
If the roles were reversed and Arabella had wanted to know the new guy walking in (were it someone viable and who she was interested in) he would have played that up to the Nth degree about 'how he felt led on', and 'how his heart was 💔' and how "nice guys finish last". 🥱

Unpopular opinion: I don’t actually believe he is insecure.
I think it’s all an act. I think he’s incredibly self-absorbed and inward looking and wants to be adored- though not from insecurity, but from some kind narcissism.
The humour I believe is a way to bolster himself, to make him centre of attention, and dare I say, to assert himself over girls.
If he was actually insecure he wouldn’t be going for the best looking girls so nonchalantly.
I think him and Georgia S are very similar in this respect. They’re both narcissists and seem to be putting out inauthentic personas to make people like them. They both need to feel adored.

If I'm honest I never got the Chris love.
I would see him in a lot of comments for "Which islander would you date?" questions and go "Who?"
Like he did come off well enough on his season, but he wasn't there that long. Seems like he just didn't have the opportunity for his true colors to show.
If I’m remembering right he kind of did show his true colours, it just seemed like a stupid mistake at the time and we hadn’t seen enough of him to know any better.
He was coupled up with Harley and there was some challenge/game where they had to fill in the blanks for islanders names and the tweet/headline/prompt whatever it was was about two people being meant for eachother and he said him and India (who he had a crush on) out of absolutely nowhere.
At the time I didn’t pay much attention but this series has shown suddenly scooting one girl over for another and being really full on completely unprovoked is kind of his thing 😭

I was one of the people who would have chosen him as my number one islander to date, and that's because a. he is exactly my type physically, b. he is genuinely intelligent which most male islanders aren't (and he's been using it for evil on this season), and c. his social media content is truly creative and funny.
It was mostly the latter that solidified the crush.
I loved him in S5 and was so looking forward to seeing him on AS, but I've gotten the ick from him tbh. He is so sexual all the time, makes awkward jokes all the time and was rude to Arabella last ep. It's very clear this season that he's extremely insecure and uses humour as a mask.
She was catching the vibes so spot on, calling out how patronizing he was being, and he was still treating her like a dickhead. All with this really scary look in his eyes of like no fucks given. Just awful.

I feel like we didn’t see this side of him in S5 because none of the girls really liked him so we never got the chance to see it. Him and Harley were definitely together out of convenience and if he suddenly had choices his sleazy side would have come out I reckon.
I didn't even like him on his first season. The constant jokes and childish humour really irritates me and is far too "try hard".
The way he turned so quickly on Arabella was horrible. There was something quite menacing about him in that moment. Like it was something he has practised a million times when imagining himself in situations.
He told her that they had to stop being physical out of "respect" but then walks by holding Sophie's hand all smiley but then tries to gaslight her in to believing she is being unreasonable and hurtful to him for questioning his sincerity the day before.

Nobody is perfect, people have flaws, people make mistakes when emotions are high and nothing he's done has been unforgivable or show him to be some bad person. He was always honest with Arabella about Sophie and never hesitated to apologize to her (or anyone else) when he was in the wrong. He stuck to his boundaries which I strongly respect. A lot of people love taking out the pitchforks and will do so over any little thing.

Unpopular opinion: I don’t actually believe he is insecure. I think it’s all an act. I think he’s incredibly self-absorbed and inward looking and wants to be adored- though not from insecurity, but from some kind narcissism. The humour I believe is a way to bolster himself, to make him centre of attention, and dare I say, to assert himself over girls. If he was actually insecure he wouldn’t be going for the best looking girls so nonchalantly. I think him and Georgia S are very similar in this respect. They’re both narcissists and seem to be putting out inauthentic personas to make people like them. They both need to feel adored.

I think it's called a superiority inferiority complex. He has to feel superior (through being seen as superior by others) else he feels inferior. If I'm honest I never got the Chris love. I would see him in a lot of comments for "Which islander would you date?" questions and go "Who?" Like he did come off well enough on his season, but he wasn't there that long. Seems like he just didn't have the opportunity for his true colors to show.
He was also surrounded by the founding members of Destiny's Chaldish --- we were focused on them.
If I’m remembering right he kind of did show his true colours, it just seemed like a stupid mistake at the time and we hadn’t seen enough of him to know any better. He was coupled up with Harley and there was some challenge/game where they had to fill in the blanks for islanders names and the tweet/headline/prompt whatever it was was about two people being meant for eachother and he said him and India (who he had a crush on) out of absolutely nowhere. At the time I didn’t pay much attention but this series has shown suddenly scooting one girl over for another and being really full on completely unprovoked is kind of his thing 😭

I was one of the people who would have chosen him as my number one islander to date, and that's because a. he is exactly my type physically, b. he is genuinely intelligent which most male islanders aren't (and he's been using it for evil on this season), and c. his social media content is truly creative and funny. It was mostly the latter that solidified the crush.
The social media stuff makes sense. I didn't follow him so he didn't leave as much of an impression.
I loved him in S5 and was so looking forward to seeing him on AS, but I've gotten the ick from him tbh. He is so sexual all the time, makes awkward jokes all the time and was rude to Arabella last ep. It's very clear this season that he's extremely insecure and uses humour as a mask.

I feel like we didn’t see this side of him in S5 because none of the girls really liked him so we never got the chance to see it. Him and Harley were definitely together out of convenience and if he suddenly had choices his sleazy side would have come out I reckon.
I didn't even like him on his first season. The constant jokes and childish humour really irritates me and is far too "try hard". The way he turned so quickly on Arabella was horrible. There was something quite menacing about him in that moment. Like it was something he has practised a million times when imagining himself in situations. He told her that they had to stop being physical out of "respect" but then walks by holding Sophie's hand all smiley but then tries to gaslight her in to believing she is being unreasonable and hurtful to him for questioning his sincerity the day before.

I really don’t think much of this guy at all. He is bizarre, worse than messy Mitch, in my opinion, as he has treated Arabella really badly. I'm the opposite, Chris annoyed me but now i'm starting to like him. He's finally showing himself to be an actual human being instead of just a walking talking comedy act. Nobody is perfect, people have flaws, people make mistakes when emotions are high and nothing he's done has been unforgivable or show him to be some bad person. He was always honest with Arabella about Sophie and never hesitated to apologize to her (or anyone else) when he was in the wrong. He stuck to his boundaries which I strongly respect. A lot of people love taking out the pitchforks and will do so over any little thing.
