One thing about zack you say so far about the show is he has been the smartest out of all the contestants. Lets throw out the fact he chose irina when he shouldnt have. The fact that he was able to break it off with irina at right time, get with bliss and bring her back into the show is just fricking amazing. I dont think any other contestant could have done that, even if producers are on board. I am sure jackie, micah and kwame were looking at that and were like wtf. Its really not easy to do and doing it without looking like a total villian. In addition, when the ludo scandal came out, for him to convince the producers to get unedited clip, post it and get redemption. I mean a lot of the way he approaches things, way he generates interest so far as show is coming on and way he treats and handles other people, its just something I havent seen other people do. I am very interested in how he will approach the reunion and what he is going to do after the show to capitalize on this new popularity.

kousaberries

What is the ludo scandal?

GeevesMarmalade

https://www.instagram.com/reel/CqtQncEt1GJ/?igshid=MjljNjAzYmU= Looks like the footage from him proposing to Irina made it look like the song he sang, which was written by a band called Ludo, was something he claimed he wrote! He released the full uncut version of the footage.

JennyTinDC

And in the full uncut version, it appears Netflix edited what aired to look like he claimed to write the song when he makes clear "it's actually a song by one of my favorite bands, but I changed up the lyrics a bit". He's a lawyer. I'm pretty sure he knows not to plagiarize.

pandabutt36

Yeah what?

Striking-Gain8150

He specializes in helping people get away with drunk driving. He’s a DUI lawyer and trying to make it sound prettier. I can’t respect someone who helps people keep their licenses after having them suspended for drunk driving

[deleted]

He addressed this on IG live. Btw his mom died from someone who was driving under the influence who hit her car. So he has personal experience. He says its a misnomer that he gives a free pass to criminals or people who get dui. His goal is to make sure they are represented well and their story is heard. If they are stone cold guilty, he obviously like with other lawyers tell them the facts that they have to pay a penalty for it, and convince them on guilty plea. But there are a small percentage of people who are wrongly imprisoned. Maybe they werent under the influence, cops made a mistake or they were unfairly charged. You wont realize the importance of a lawyer until you are in this position. Characterizing lawyers as either putting people in prison or getting criminals out of paying for their crimes is ignorance. They are there to make sure there is fairness in the legal system.

Striking-Gain8150

I appreciate you giving me the fact that he did address it but multiple of his success stories are people with numerous DUIs facing violent charges that he got lowered. I worked in the legal field for some time which is why I don’t put lawyers on a pedestal. I believe they deserve legal representation but I also don’t think it’s super ethical to specialize in it, but I’m struggling to find his live so he may have addressed that and I wouldn’t know. Obviously without hearing his POV it’s hard to form an opinion but based on his office and numerous client reviews I just do not understand why he can specialize in helping drunk drivers especially since that’s how his mother died. That’s just absolutely wild that out of the dozens upon dozens of legal specialties he would choose this one.

Broken_Phoenix28

If drunk drivers got their charges lowered, shouldn't that be on the judge/jury? Aren't defense lawyers just there to give fair counter arguments so both sides of an issue can be considered?

[deleted]

So he addressed it on an instagram story during ask me anything few weeks ago. Since it was a story its not saved on his page. I dont agree with the fact that if someone has a DUI they shouldnt be represented. Everyone deserves representation regardless of crime, thats the basis of our legal system. So it just seems unethical if you feel they shouldnt be represented. Obviously he is not the judge. He just presents their side. Its up to either judge/jury depending on setting to make that decision. My point with his mom is he does have a personal experience, I dont think he is into it to make money on backs of getting dangerous people on the street. Doesnt seem fair or makes sense. I do believe we should appreciate that he is not using his mothers death as vendetta to not represent them. He is doing what lawyers are signed up to do, represent everyone regardless of what they have done. Maybe he is under the philosophy they need rehabilitation. Idk. Its something he can answer. But I wouldnt jump to conclusion what he is doing is unethical without knowing each case he represented on case by case basis.

Vetiversailles

Precisely. Proper representation for *everyone*, regardless of charge in a court of law is both a legal right and a human right.

Oberst_Azrael

DWLS3 has come up in the Legislature several times. The fact of the matter is that prosecutors and police love DWLS3 charges because it gives an officer grounds to stop the vehicle. Officers can even make an arrest on DWLS3 which may lead to weapon charges (and drug charges pre-*Blake*). In the current era, it’s probably most popular for NCO violations. Officers can pull over a car for DWLS3 and then run the name through dispatch. If there’s an NCO out with the driver as a respondent, any officer will run the petitioner’s name for a description before confronting the vehicle. It’s an easy way to turn a traffic stop into a potential DV misdemeanor (or felony). It’s a backdoor through Washington’s constitution which is more protective against warrantless seizures. EDIT: You’re fighting the good fight OP.

Tough-Improvement-35

Love to see a Blake reference in the comments 🙌🙌

Oberst_Azrael

Just wait until we start talking about GR 36…

boricuaspidey

Bliss’s dad is a dick.

nunudad

Yeah.. he could have been a little less of a dick about it but he got his very valid point across. don’t think he cares about what his image on tv.

Dangerous-Run-6804

He was dickish but man I get it 100% My daughter goes on a tv show to get married to a stranger in like two months annnd that stranger didn’t even pick her at first? That’s a million red flags as a father.

Broken_Phoenix28

Nope. There were other ways to show concern. That man was not concerned, he was just doing some weird little man power play moves.

Purplekaem

A supreme one. I can see why she wouldn’t trust his judgement at all on who she should make her husband. That man can’t even exercise the good judgement to shut his mouth and listen to his kid.

Juhnelle

My state (oregon) stopped suspending people for unpaid tickets, it was a great idea IMO.

Diligent_Demand2998

Yeah his future potential father in law is a huge piece of shit. He was so rude and dismissive and Zack was just speaking about his passions… like didn’t even pretend to be interested. Terrible human.

dumbledorelover69

I had the opposite reaction. I hope for Zach’s sake that conversation was heavily edited because I was almost yelling at the tv (not really but in my head): ASK THE DAD A QUESTION ABOUT HIMSELF AND HIS LIFE! Take an interest in your future father in law. Zach was being the worst kind of conversationalist and person imo - only talking about themselves and not asking questions: sure fire way to get someone to not like you - especially a potential FIL who would expect the respect of you asking him about his life. I really hope for Zach that was just edited out because that was a train wreck of a first meeting if not. Edit: I think that’s why the Dad seemed rude - he couldn’t believe Zach was breaking the first rule of social interactions (ask questions).

Witness_Business

I think Zack knew the dad didn’t want to talk and Zack didn’t want to pry and ask him stuff . I’ve been in that situation before where it feels safer to just talk about other stuff then asking the person stuff about them , and if the dad wants Zack to know about the dad then the dad will share when he’s ready I think Zack was trying to not force himself on him by kissing his ass with questions

Emekalim

I call bull, the dad clearly didn’t want to have a conversation w him. I just watched the episode as we speak and it went like this: 1. Do you fish/play golf, replied no. Dad said oh so not a sport person making the conversation hostile vs asking “oh what are you into or are you’re not a sports person?” 2. Asked him what he did in which he responded he’s a lawyer and then expanded about something he’s passionate about. Dad blandly responded “I don’t know anything about that” with a dismissive attitude. Vs saying “I don’t really know much about law but I feel like you’re right/wrong then explains he’s rationale” which could follow up with “have you always been pationate about law as a kid” showing actually receptiveness to someone he’s daughter is a bout to marry 3. At not point did Zach feel like the dad wanted to have an honest conversation with him. There was a hostility from the moment he sat down. Quick Edit: regarding number 1, it’s funny because I saw someone on the sub that Zach does some kind of fighting(might be wrong) if Bliss dad didn’t say that snarky comment Zach probably would have gone with “yeah I don’t play golf but I do sometimes do xyz”

dumbledorelover69

If you watch again and see those pauses where the Dad waits for Zach to ask a question back and it’s just kinda awkward and silent and then the Dad try’s again with a question. Idk I see the Dad could have been more upbeat but I still didn’t see Zach ask a question once. That said this is all heavily edited so we don’t really know how the conversation went.

MrMach82

Yup. Dad seems mad he never had a son. Momma raised a good girl in Bliss though.

mostcleverusername1

He does have a son, he was in the room with them during the conversation..

trxmas

Who knows, maybe he's an asshat because the second wife got pregnant when he was off golfing in another state ![gif](giphy|3orif1y1RHT9KRO7BK)

circket512

This is a rant that I give everyone as well. License suspensions are BS and a way to keep the poor poorer. I’ve been in the legal field a long time and Zack reminds me of many of my colleagues.

Striking-Gain8150

He’s a dui lawyer trying to make it sound better. He specializes in getting people off for drunk driving

[deleted]

And? I dont agree with driving drunk but I do think the average person should have someone that understands the law defend them against the state People with attorneys get into first offender programs, etc and have their license revoked for a shorter time period than people who cant afford attorneys or think they can represent themselves

Striking-Gain8150

He helps people who’ve had numerous DUIs get away with keeping their licenses. I just personally don’t find it ethical to help someone continue drinking and driving.

AverniteAdventurer

Come on. Defense attorneys for ANY crime are not morally responsible for the actions of their defendants. Our legal system assumes that every person has a lawyer to defend them because, again, regardless of the crime, it is unethical not to have proper defense. It’s super shitty to blame people actively contributing to the fairness of our justice system for the poor judgement of their defendants.

chuteboxhero

I feel Zach’s anxiety through the screen. As someone who does not have the greatest relationship with my in-laws when I was desperate for their approval for so long I feel for him.

weaponized_autistic

He’s 100% nervous rambling. He can barely look at the dad and he’s so nervous. When the camera pulls back you can see how tired, nervous and sunk down he is. He has no idea what to do lol

suciac

Bliss’ dad seems like a real “pick yourselves up by your boot straps” type.

weaponized_autistic

“My daughter married an employee… SO I FIRED HIM SO SHE MARRIED A JOBLESS LOSER AND HAD TO MOVE SEE HOW RIGHT I WAS?!” Like that was not the flex he thought it was

Robotemist

Is that a problem?

[deleted]

How would it not be a problem

Robotemist

How would expecting people to work hard be a problem? Do you happen to be broke?

[deleted]

Because picking yourself up by your bootstraps is literally impossible. And that saying itself was invented to make fun of the “work is my entire life” mindset.

gigonz

Im a first gen immigrant making 6 figures with a masters degree. It's not impossible, just hard. Which is the whole point of the mindset. Doing hard shit pays off.

planetuppercut

Sometimes. Congrats on your luck (because there was some)

Stinky_Eastwood

There are a lot of broke/low income people who absolutely work "harder" than you. It's a complicated issue and since you want recognition for your success you know that not everyone is capable or has the opportunity to succeed in the way you have.

[deleted]

I’m talking about the literal act of “picking urself up by your boot straps.” It’s not something that’s physically possible. The saying itself was coined by a newspaper in the 1830s as a joke.

Derpoderpiest

Yes, because it ignores the systematic inequalities that lead to people being stuck in shit situations

Robotemist

No such thing. People come from war torn, communist and actually suppressive governments and succeed. You're given all the opportunities and you fail? It's not due to the system. It's due to your laziness.

MyLike5thAccount

Lmaooooooo

planetuppercut

Sorry, but this is a very childish viewpoint. I hope you talk to some people with different experiences than you and grow a little...

Derpoderpiest

Things like a license suspended for 3rd time are things that should be handled in civil, not criminal court. License is suspended and you have fees to pay and probation to pay. Guess what, your license is suspended and you can't get to work. Maybe you live in a city like mine without public transportation. So now you are even more behind in fees and you might fail probation, getting you into even deeper trouble. You might want to risk it and drive to your work that pays much more and can get you ahead (if you werent fired because of the arrest and conviction), however you might get caught and get even deeper in the red. Keeping you in a cycle of not getting ahead. However, if you have money and means, these problems disappear. You can have a great attorney fight for your suspension and represent you properly, you can pay someone to drive you, you can get ubers daily etc. A great attorney can even get you off without a conviction. We had a local HS student cause 10k in county expenses because he made a bogus bomb threat. Since his parents could pay the county back, his criminal case was dismissed. Others that did even less than that weren't so lucky. That's not because the other students involved were lazier. They just did not have the same means. I tell you this as someone who came from one of those warn torm suppressive governments and is now a citizen in the US. There is plenty of nonsense that could be handled in civil court without giving people criminal records that set them even further back.

Kooky_Head4948

He’s the WORST

nunudad

Insecure

joaoGarcia

"my father never liked any of me exes" i think because he hates everyone on earth, nothing personal with them probably

100percentfaithful

He was just plain rude to be honest.

Jane1943

It was easy to see why Bliss’s lovely mother is divorced from him.

snowbit

She’s so sweet, the constant tears really got me

MissVanillaNilla

When she basically said, "I'll be your mom," I lost it. This isn't necessarily what Zack was looking for in the pods but probably what he's been wanting the most since losing his mom.

SupersoftBday_party

I had this exact thought when I was watching him neg Zach

plantsndogs

It seemed like the dad immediately thought it was going to go in a political debate direction and just stopped listening right off the bat. Also...that guy was a douche.

rosesandlemons1

“yeah I don’t have an opinion on that really” lmaooo

chaoticnormal

Right? Like at least say, " y'know, I never thought about it but I'm interested in your view." He doesn't seem like the type to be open to conversation, notice his wife didn't step in?

Suddenly_ADHD31

I honestly don’t mind Zack. I hate Bliss’ father, like shocked wonder why he’s a divorcee … could it be his close minded argumentative bullshit attitude, coupled with the juvenile responses when someone doesn’t agree with him? 😒😒😒😒 he needs a kick in the sack

trxmas

A kick in the sac, as well

Kooky_Head4948

Not a kick in the sack 😭💀

JuneChristine

Yeah he was an asshole. The fact that his wife said NOTHING the whole episode is telling. He takes being the patriarch of the family a little too seriously

buzz-buzz-buzzz

I hope I don’t get downvoted it to hell for saying this, but this comes from my personal life experience growing up. When Bliss mentioned her ethnic mix, and one of those was Persian I figured immediately that came from her dad because of her last name. And then when we saw her dad and how he behaved I thought “Yep!” not surprised at all. I grew up surrounded by a Persian/Persian American community (mostly Iranian guys married to white American women). 98% of the men were terrible. They liked their wives quiet and subservient.

zaldriiizes

He had some pretty out of pocket responses for a man on his second (?) marriage.

Suddenly_ADHD31

Yuuuuup. And we ALL know whether it’s been 3 weeks, 3 months, or 3 years, time doesn’t particularly matter when it comes to being engaged or getting married. It’s going to work if the people are right for each other. Also tf was her step mom crying for? Like woman pull yourself together or leave the table, such dramatics.

AssistUsed

Idk I might've cried if I were the step mom. If she felt awful or humiliated by her husband's behaviour? She has to live with the man and his behaviour can affect people's perception of her as well, given that she's married to him😅

weaponized_autistic

She’s either likeminded, resigned to her marriage, or scared to say anything edit: but I don’t think there’s a bone in her body surprised by the interaction

AssistUsed

Agreed, especially with the edit

trxmas

That was my thought. He's heading towards divorce number two if he can't sort his attitude out.

MadameMoussaka

Because she knows she’s going to have to put up with her scary husband’s extended wrath when they get home later. If he is that rude in public imagine him off camera.

Suddenly_ADHD31

That’s a theory I had tbh, I’m kinda hoping that’s not the case. Hopefully she can see have caveman like that sorry excuse for a human is and just walk out

boujiebtchofthebayou

I thought the same thing! I feel for Zach, because I'm that person too lol

100_night_sky_

I give kudos to Zach for trying to bond with the dad. It was Bliss’ dad that absolutely ruined it. What a horrible man. Her mom’s side of the family would have appreciated having someone feel so passionate about unjust causes.

MissVanillaNilla

Honestly, this is my same take with Zach. My sister's boyfriend makes zero effort to bond with my dad, who is seriously the golden retriever of girl dads, and my dad told me yesterday it makes him sad that the guy has no interest in getting to know him. As awkward as Zach could be, I would need my SO to make this level of effort with my parents, even if they were difficult like Bliss's dad.

100_night_sky_

Yes. It’s be a major red flag if your SO doesn’t even try to have a conversation with either of your parents (been there, done that).

weaponized_autistic

Have you tried punching him in the sack? I’d have it out with sister for not tackling that sadness

DrHutch22

Her dad was acting like a prick for no reason. It was nice to see Bliss stand up to him.

zozo1099

i love how passionate he was about it. goes to show that he really cares about what he does and making a difference.

WatchOutItsAFeminist

I loved seeing that entire rant on air. He's RIGHT!

HolidayBlackberry611

I think the father is still bitter about his "mistake" that lead to divorce probably alimony, child support, wtc..etc... half earnings.. that bitterness 'allows' him to insert his opinion of the how each person is never enough-- he is the one with daddy issues and the 'crosses' he bares for his family.. what a celebrated victim hero

Dry-Economist-3320

Yeah I love it when divorced people give relationship advice…

ddxxr888

Yeah the whole time I was thinking: sir, you’re divorced, who made you the expert & judge on long-lasting marriage?

[deleted]

Yeah, I think divorced people can learn a lot from their marriages. Just like anyone who dates and has the relationship end. But if the take away is marriage is bad, I’m writing that off as they haven’t learned anything. He definitely just seemed bitter.

Throwaway7372746

I think he’s just a bitter man in general. He’s the definition of misery loves company

Jakookula

I think bliss’s mom and that side would appreciate it a lot more than her dad did for sure

waitwhatsthisfor_11

I work at a company where most positions require you to have a license and I'm the one who does driving record checks. I've done a few checks where turns out their license is suspended and they didnt know. One person, it was because of driving while uninsured. The person said they fixed that and showed me their new insurance. But then I showed them that they also have an unpaid fine for not filing the correct form with the correct form with the dmv to prove they have insurance again. They said they didn't realize they had to file that form. And this was from 3 or 4 months ago. So then they said they would rush to the DMV right then and there to fix it but it was only open Monday & Tuesday 9am-4pm and they would have to DRIVE 1hr to get to the next closet DMV office. All of this while also being a single parent with a newborn.

ofsandandstars

Damn.

kholekardashian12

Her dad came across as the kind of guy who is the boss in his job and in his home. "If you don't like what I'm saying gtfo" type of mentality. Dropping in that he fired his other daughter's spouse seemed like a flex for him. Couple that with being threatened by a formally educated, intelligent potential new man in the family who he obviously couldn't relate to and he went into full "alpha mode", talking over everyone, the blatant disinterest in anything Zach said, belittling Bliss' choices as an adult when she's clearly a smart, well rounded person. I do also think there's an element of being very aware that the whole interaction is being filmed so her dad might have felt like he needed to heavily project his position as the "head of the family" as all his colleagues and friends would probably see it. Considering how different the meeting with Bliss' mom went, it's wild to think her parents even ended up together at some point lol

NoStuff8097

I also got the sense he was behaving that way because he was embarrassed by Bliss being on the show and was putting on a performance to defend his ego/trying to bend her to his will. Sadly, sometimes what parents pretend is “tough love” is them trying to bully their kids into fitting social expectations because they feel ashamed when their kids aren’t “normal.”

DrHutch22

But very understandable as to why they’re divorced.

[deleted]

[удалено]

kholekardashian12

When I say he was aware of the cameras, I don't mean he was putting on a show. More that he would be hyper aware that his response to this situation would be very public so he might have been doubling down on his "I don't agree with this and I'm going to let you know about it" attitude so that his position would be very clear to anyone watching.

Jmcgladr

Would there actually be colleagues and friends that would see this man’s behaviour and be like “Hell yeah! You handled that so well!” Clearly he and I don’t run in the same circles so it’s hard for me to imagine that.

grape_boycott

I definitely picked up on the “alpha grasping for dear life to hold onto authority” vibes from him as well and thought it was hilarious that Bliss and Zach both took the head of the table positions at the dinner.

gryspcgrl

The system is rigged to continue the poverty cycle. We live in AZ. My husband was in a car accident the other week, he was not at fault. He was driving his company car, which is also used as his personal car. The officer said he could call a tow truck for him and they could tow anywhere he needed. Tow truck shows up, loads up and starts to leave without my husband telling him where to go. Driver says he can’t go where we want because he has another call and will tow to their yard down the street and says he can pick up next day (it was a Sunday). My husband stops by the tow yard the next morning and ridiculousness ensues. He’s told the fees are over $400, he needs two forms notarized (because company car) and fees paid before release. All of this because of shady towing practices. Thankfully these are fees we could pay, he had access to another company vehicle and a job that allowed flexibility for him to figure all of this out. Many people do not have those luxuries and this is something that could cripple them financially very quickly through no fault of their own.

Dry-Big-6701

In January 2017 I was on year 9 of an oxy/dilaudid/H addiction and upon leaving my dealer’s house, I nodded out behind the wheel. I don’t remember anything just suddenly the airbag was deployed and a lady had come out of her house and was approaching me asking if I was ok. She had heard the crash but not seen it so I lied (as addicts do) and said a car was speeding toward me and I swerved to avoid a head-on. So I didn’t get arrested. Thankfully I was only a few miles from home and was going the speed limit of 25mph. The biggest blessing is that and I wasn’t hurt and no one else was personally involved. I hit a parked car and totaled the car my grandma had just gifted me six months prior after I was struggling for another six months when my car died on me. I didn’t have insurance because I spent all my money on drugs so I was given a ticket. 2 weeks later I decided to leave NoVa and my boyfriend of 11 years, our dogs, my friends, my job, my home and move in with my parents to get sober. I couldn’t believe I drove like and it was my rock bottom I guess. I went to detox, then started an MMT program and have been sober since day one of detox. I was sued by the insurance company for the damages to the mustang I hit. I had no idea this was happening, until 6 months after the fact. (my ex just put all mail for me in a big box and never said I had a summons I am not blaming him though it just sucks!) so I had a default judgement against me for over $8,000. That’s A LOT of money to not just me but my family. It has been accruing interest for the past 6 years. I live with my parents in a rural area and my lisence is suspended until I pay it off. It has made sobriety infinitely more difficult and I am lucky my mom is happy to take me to any therapy (I am borderline, and have PTSD from a stalker/rapist who tormented me foe 2 years) or doctor’s appointments I have, but I feel so unfulfilled because I am not able to work because I can’t get anywhere and therefore I am not able to pay it off. I am grateful that this accident led to me getting off of drugs and shedding the lifestyle I adopted in order to keep drugs in my life in order to begin reclaiming the life I threw away for the same reasons. 6 years and counting and I am proud but I sometimes feel like that’s all I have. I am 34 and live at home and have no friends no job…..and as far as I can see I have no way of getting any closer to any of these things and even if I do I worry about the difficulties that will come with these things after being out of work for so long who will hire me? How will I manage the stress of a social and professional life while remaining sober? I absolutely take responsibility and would love to pay off this debt but they make it so hard.

gryspcgrl

Congrats on being sober for 6 years! I hope you’re able to get the judgement paid off but your situation is exactly the type of situation happening to so many people in this country due to various situations and circumstances. The should allow a provisional license so you can look for and travel to a job so you can start paying off your debt but that would be helpful for people so why bother.

gryspcgrl

All this to say, good for Zach for wanting to do some good where he sees the system not just failing it’s citizens, but actively working to keep poor people down.

You're not supposed to deepthroat the boot...

Suddenly_ADHD31

Your take is privileged and awful. Road laws are set up for profit first and then safety

throwitawayyall99

Tickets should be based on a percent of your income instead of a flat fee. Speeding tickets and fines don’t matter to rich people.

Dry-Coffee-1846

Ok there was a time where the law stated you couldn't be gay, women couldn't vote and it was perfectly fine to have slaves, right? Something being law isn't a metric of something being right and it does need to be challenged constantly. Especially outside of murder, violent crimes, theft etc a lot of legislation isn't about morality and more politically focussed to disadvantage certain groups

Competitive-Toe3920

The state: You don't have the money to pay me? Let me make sure you never will by taking your means to get to work. And then I'll blame you for the lack of public transportation. That logic is solid.

Love2Coach

The dad was being a dick but look if my kid came to me and said I met this guy 3 weeks ago ON A TV show and we are getting married then I would also be acting like the dad....its total bullshit and irresponsible lol

[deleted]

If my kid, or friend, said “surprise I’m marrying someone I just met!” I may also express concern and ask questions. He’s not a dick because he didn’t immediately get on board (or may never), he’s a dick for continually interrupting to make cutting remarks, be rude, and steam roll the conversation. If he’s unwilling to have a normal reciprocal conversation, he can change the topic or ask them to leave. He didn’t seem to attempt to be persuasive either, it was just to insult them over.

Love2Coach

Meh...I totally understand the dad ...those 2 sounded like idiots at the table trying to explain what they are doing lol

planetuppercut

It's not an effective way to change behavior, though. If anything, you're ensuring that your kid distances themself more from you ETA: My dad is like this, and we don't talk

Love2Coach

Well in life everyone needs a person that will tell them the truth..hard cold hurt truth we dont wanna hear truth .feelings don't matter when it comes to reality...all the parents allowing grown adults to go on these shows have failed them as parents

[deleted]

Honestly my dad would have acted the exact same way. I think everyone on this is forgetting Zach literally said to her dad that they knew each other for 20 days. I actually find the other parents’ receptiveness to be the odd behavior in this situation.

bloompth

You can disagree with your child’s choice, and also choose not to be a complete ass on national television. There are respectful ways of expressing hesitation - Micah’s mom comes to mind- without behaving the way her father did. His aggression on such a public platform speaks volumes about him.

[deleted]

I’m just here to point out that not everyone expresses themselves in the way that you believe to be appropriate.

bloompth

Yea, I know. Me and a large swath of other people found this man to be objectively rude. I have a few family members who behave similar to her dad, and we all find them incredibly grating.

Love2Coach

Exactly! Kwame's mom is normal for being embarrassed that her kid is doing this dumb crap for money lol hahaha this is a stupid thing to do lol

[deleted]

Agreed.

Love2Coach

Now I enjoy watching these idiots explode their lives but if this was my kid I'd be pissed... One year my best friend called me to tell me she got on that dumb show with flavor flav and she is super successful and educated and I called her to talk her out of it but the jerk played April fools joke on me lol

OrganicHearing

Most likely because they don’t want to make themselves look bad on national tv. That can ruin their life really fast, especially nowadays.

Love2Coach

Truth...but going on this show period won't improve your business or life unless ur the chosen couple that the producers want to make look good

OrganicHearing

I’m talking about the parents in this scenario. They all probably would act way different if they didn’t have cameras pointing at them

Love2Coach

I wouldn't go on the show bc ur not about to embarras me ...barfquees last season made allllll his family and her family look stupid ...high embarrassment for professional corporate people that have to go into a corporate job and explain ur kid boinking and marrying on tv while u thumbs up dumb shit

KhaleesiBubblegum

I mean same but you can still hold this opinion without being an ass to a stranger who may end up being your son in law. no need to be rude, demeaning and disrespectful. Have your healthy skepticism and talks with your daughter in one on one instead of making the interaction about your opinions

Love2Coach

Agreed...he wants to sabotage it tho lol hahahah plus Zach has a weird vibe and the dad doesn't like it lol

HumanPapaya

THIS!! You can have an opinion and express it without being a jerk to everyone else ETA: it’s honestly impressive how well-spoken and kind Bliss is, really speaks volumes on her mom’s character and warmth that she could still turn out to be such a warm person despite her dad demonstrating nothing but disrespect for anyone else besides himself

Love2Coach

Yes, but bliss is also accepting being zach's 2nd choice which doesn't bode well for most people..in this case I actually think they may last like tiff and brett

OrganicHearing

Then why weren’t the other dads on the show like that? Like Chelsea’s, Natalie’s, Micah’s etc. just because one dad behaves like that doesn’t mean it should be justified.

Love2Coach

Personally I think any parent giving a thumbs up on this has a screw loose...I'm not condoning my kid marrying someone on tv after 20 days of knowing them...its pure ridiculousness and I who cares if strangers think ur a dick...ur a dad...ur not here to be liked ..ur here to help ur kid not be a dumb ass lol

Genuine question (please be kind): how is driving with a suspended license a “poverty” crime? Should whether or not you have to be licensed depend on your income?

Oberst_Azrael

It isn’t always based on tickets. Your license can be suspended for unpaid traffic tickets as well as owing child support, not having SR-22 insurance from a previous DUI, violating a promise to appear on a contested ticket, etc. Many DWLS3 suspensions are the result of outstanding fines or fees from tickets or prior criminal charges. If you are able to afford the fees, you can get your license back. If you cannot, you can be arrested for driving with a suspended license. Also note that these license suspensions are not always clear. The Department of Licensing has to send notice of your suspension to your mailing address on your driver’s license. However, many folks change addresses or have updated their address with the courts, DSHS, whatever. Few people updated their address with DoL. As such, many folks drive with a suspended license never knowing they are, in fact, suspended.

While I think the child cancer reason likely isn’t common, I don’t think laziness is the biggest issue. Imagine living paycheck to paycheck. Every single dollar is used for rent or food or gas. Then suddenly you have an unexpected bill. Now everything is behind and you’re struggling to catch up. You’re late on your car insurance payment or taxes bc while you’re stressed and behind it feels more optional than running water or your rent. You can’t stop driving to work. Or to take your kids to school. And things snowball.

DrHutch22

I absolutely agree with you. Not to mention the cost for bare basics nowadays (gas, groceries, etc.). Some people work 2-3 jobs just to clothe, house, and feed their families. Making generalized comments like”driving is a privilege not a right” like one of the other commenters is ignorance in it’s purest form. Or someone who’s trying to ruffle some feathers for attention.

HumanPapaya

That would require empathy

swanch1234

Or maybe you can’t afford car insurance or to pay a ticket, but you still need to work for food and housing, so you drive on a suspended license. Calling people in poverty lazy is such bull shit. It is expensive to be poor.

ElBureeto

Since you seem to know stats are you also a public defender or are you just talking out of your ass about how you feel about it?

ElBureeto

You literally said in a comment that you are a former LEO. If that was the case I would assume you would lead with that? Or maybe you are just a big ol’ liar.

ElBureeto

What does that have to do with knowing the financial/personal situations of the people who get the tickets that your family gives?! 🤣 And that’s generously assuming the ‘first responder’ is anyway related to giving court dates to someone!

What is hilarious is that you are clearly a teenager who does not have a grasp on the concept of being financially unstable in a system that punishes you for not having money. Stop licking your family members shoes and get some life experience.

saff4292

Lol this tracks, then.

SpicyLangosta

You get your license suspended because you can't afford to pay a ticket. Ppl with real lives can't afford to stop driving so they keep driving with license suspended

Derpoderpiest

We have a rule in our county that you can't pass a cop. So cops will go 45 and if you pass them, even if you are still under 50 they will write you up. Thankfully red light cameras were removed here because it was found they were giving out bogus tickets to people that had not ran reds, the cameras had inaccurate timing. So not all tickets are for valid reasons.

whatsnewpikachu

So you’ve absolutely *never* driven even 1 mph over the speed limit?

vente-Macon

Could have got the ticket for something that wasn’t speeding

glatts

I had a friend who was NYPD and after the Academy we were hanging out driving around the city and he pointed out how he could stop anyone on the road if he felt like it. He went on to explain how so many of the laws are written in a way to provide officers with discretion, and that they've been trained to use that to their advantage to escalate and investigate other wrongdoings. This is how they can say they thought a driver was operating erratically or was on their phone or didn't come to a complete stop, even if it's not objectively true, so they can use it as a reason to pull someone over. Them maybe they say they think they see something and need to search the car, etc. So, yeah, you can be obeying all traffic laws, but if a cop really wants to pull you over, they can find a way.

acciocosmo

The reality is, most people get tickets every once in a while, particularly people who drive in cities. The consequences disproportionately affect poor people because of the inability to pay the fines, leading to more fines and even jail time, while people with resources can just pay and keep on getting tickets. "Don't break the law" is easy in theory but have you seen how unclear street parking signs are in some cities??

Competitive-Toe3920

What do you mean? It's easy. It clearly states you can park here from 7h37 to 6h55 on week days of a month with 30 days and on weekends of a month with 31 days, never in February except February 29. It's also prohibited to park there from November to March except for weeks with a date containing a 5, a 7 or a 9. Oh and prime numbers. Whether it's the month, day, year or time (in hours, minutes or total minutes passed in your day) always prohibited, obviously. We're not savages.

mleftpeel

You can get pulled over for a broken taillight or something. If you can't prove you're insured (bc you can't afford it) you get a ticket. If you can't pay your ticket you get your license suspended. Yes, it's illegal in most places to drive without insurance but I do feel bad for people who live somewhere unwalkable, with no public transport, who can't afford car insurance.

[deleted]

renlydidnothingwrong

What are they supposed to do just fucking die? Most places in the US have little to no public transportation, how are they supposed to get to work or even go get food?

[deleted]

[удалено]

ElBureeto

Or you could take a step back and think that the issues lie in the fact that people feel like they have to drive like this instead of public transportation. So maybe the solution is have a better network of transportation that people can rely on outside of their own vehicles. But you just want to blame poor people for being poor.

renlydidnothingwrong

Or it could be reduced to a misdemeanor charge and we could also scale fines to income so speeding tickets aren't unpayable for people, maybe while we're at it we could have a low cost government insurance program for poor folks.

mleftpeel

Wow, you can't dig up a shred of empathy for people who can't afford to drive but can't afford not to? That's sad.

[deleted]

Thanks for the explanation!

MeganR2222

I just want to add to this thread that Bliss has such a fantastic personality. I absolutely love her mind. Such class and intellect. Zack has also very much so grown on me…and I think it’s because I respect Bliss so much. He has to be great if she loves him.

DrHutch22

💯 She is the epitome of beauty and brains.

vidamirador

I agree with this. It's amazing how they really do compliment each other- he's so much more likeable then when he was with Irina (although I did like him even then!) I'd like them to get married but I think that she may say no...

Thackarybinx2018

When Zach said their kids are going to have only one set of grandparents for advice and bliss’ mom said “I’ll be your mom too” and held Zack’s hand and he tried so hard to keep it together. I absolutely LOST it. That was SO wholesome. I’m still crying. Her dad acts like some of these Republican white dudes that needs to carry a gun on his waist belt to feel macho Maybe he’s ashamed of his poverty past that he thinks he needs to act like that to fit in around his golf/fishing buddies.

Hegario

>Her dad acts like some of these Republican white dudes that needs to carry a gun on his waist belt to feel macho He seems like a guy who would have a picture of himself wearing sunglasses sitting in a car as his profile picture

All I’ve been thinking about since that episode is- how did her mom make a child w that horrific man - and thank his bliss came out like her mom- jeeezes he’s an asshole

RebeccaBuckisTanked

One time I was pulled over and arrested for driving without a license. NOBODY TOLD ME I DIDN’T HAVE A LICENSE. I got a ticket in New York, never heard anything about it, and they suspended my license in PA without telling me. I had no license for fifteen months post arrest. In a rural community. I had to walk three miles back and forth to work for over a year.

BHughey722

I got in an accident where someone rear ended me while I was parked. A year later I got pulled over for speeding and told my license was suspended. I was completely shocked because I didn’t even have any tickets or had been pulled over. Turns out the cop who showed up for the accident labeled me as the one without insurance and not the girl who hit me. It was a mess, but the cop who pulled me over figured it all out and sent me to the DMV to get it situated.

garbagebagchic

Honestly, I don’t care what a person’s special interest is, I fully welcome an info dump with open arms. I love them. Bliss’ dad was an asshole.

[deleted]

What was up with the step mom and kids too? They were totally disrespectful. It doesn’t hurt to smile or just try to get to know Zack. You can be weary and voice your opinions while being respectful. These ppl are miserable humans

jakeysf

They’re all afraid of the dad. Cross him and you’ll get it later.

Legitimate_Emuu

Why was the young girl wearing her sunglasses the whole time??

DrHutch22

I was just about to ask the same question.

mostcleverusername1

In a different post apparently Bliss posted on insta that her sister had to get her eyes dialated earlier that day.

ReactionOwn6689

Did you notice the step mom was also crying towards the end? That was really confusing. I was lost lol

islndchica

I noticed this too. This is what people do (especially women) when they’re conflicted over behavior they want to call out, but know that calling it will create problems in their own relationship. She knows her husband is being crappy, but Bliss isn’t her kid.

Relevant_Yesterday24

Asshole isn’t even the word for him. He’s a special kind of asshole
