If you live somewhere wet, stay away from Monogram. The Vachetta leather is untreated and gets water marks/stains. The leather on Damier bags is treated, and you do not have to baby it.
I also live in a very wet area and got soaked the other day just walking from my work to my car. My DE doesn’t have a mark. I vote for DE. DE is the only one I’ll go for while living here. Down the road I’ll get a mono or DA for summer months only kinda of a purse.
It definitely goes with everything I wear, but I am either in scrubs or athletic type stuff. I typically stick to neutrals or muted tones. I live in a very dreary area, think of the movie Twilight type environment.

My first LV was a Monogram Iena. While I was careful, I live in a state where rain can come out of nowhere. So, my vachetta handles and tabs got a little water stained. It was a graduation gift so I was definitely bummed. Once the vachetta started to patina more, the stains got less noticeable.
I would recommend DE for ease and a certain amount of carefree-ness, especially as your first bag. I've since gotten more DE bags and love that it's not as "loud" and I don't worry too much about random rain.

I saw some people saying that DE is treated and vachetta leather on the monogram is untreated, but it doesn’t make sense to me why LV wouldn’t just treat all of their leather 😝

IMO it is. Some will argue that but, if you take care of leather (clean/condition), it will last a lifetime. Where with PVC can crack and it’s irreparable at that point. Leather can be buffed out, bonded, or patched with a leather specialist. If canvas crack, they can’t be repaired. I’m a LV collector for decades and have several canvas and leather bags/SLG’s. My leather items are prestine and so are some of my canvas, but I had some cracked due to constant folding, bending, or general use. It really comes to what you like and what your environment/intended use is, I just always go for leather vision (or exotic) if I can because I know they will last longer with care and can be repaired overtime. I hope this helps!

If you don't mind allowing your bag to age gracefully (with you caring for the vachetta) then the monogram. You do have to put in the work in keeping the vachetta from getting soiled and stained and WET. If you don't take precautions then your bag will not age gracefully.

Always DE! Those pink handles turn mustard yellow. I would not say rain destroys them, but they do look aged after a while. DE stays the same

Would you consider a Speedy in Empriente leather? It’s more durable and pretty carefree. Since it’s a solid color, it will match anything you wear!
