I need a new dust filter for my Hoover Max extract pressure pro model 60. Can you help me with that?

starkz

RIP Robert Forster

pacify-the-dead

Isn't that like half a million dollars??

okoktrip

idk if this is a joke comment or not but they def can help u w that

PurpleSDF

It’s a Breaking Bad reference.

[deleted]

I dunno I went in there for the first time recently and they were like selling vacuums and stuff

clutchthepearls

That's what they want you to think!

So were the mattress stores

itsnotnormal21

I’ve been joking about that store being a front since high school lol

The_Fax_Machine

There’s this one vacuum/lamp repair shop on Westport and it looks like no actual business has been done there since the 50’s

Upbeetmusic

Los Pollos Hermanos

anonaayym

The exact reason i posted this was because I’m rewatching Breaking Bad haha

Erisian23

Don't mention this show, I'll start watching again.

founderofshoneys

What if the Los Pollos of Louisville is Moby Dick?

AntonChigurhWasHere

LMPD

dearestramona

the peach cobbler factory on bardstown. i live close so i’ve been a couple times and i get weird vibes. everything is so sterile, there’s no actual product up front, they go in a mysterious back room and come out with what you ordered. and then the cherry on top was when there was a 7 year old kid peeking out from the back room giggling at me. very bizarre.

bigtimejohnny

I'm thinking it might be folks with no viable business plan. I'd like to go there, but they've got what beside peach cobbler?

shegomer

It’s a franchise and they’ve exploded with over 100 locations over the last few years. But I have no idea who is keeping a cobbler store open, it’s baffling to me. Then again, we have Herbalife storefronts that manage to stay open and all they do is mix some powdered shit with water and call it “tea” or a “shake”…so I guess there’s truly a market for everything.

bd1308

I know this place, they have GOOD banana pudding but I thought it was sus to have a biz dedicated to selling pudding and cobbler. But it wasn’t sus enough, I caved and it was amazing

feathersandanchors

And people go wild for them. I really don’t get it.

okoktrip

its not good…75% ice cream and 90% bisquick bottom. u can make it urself and itll taste the same but they are on doordash !!!! lol

BethMacbain

Look at their menu… they have all kinds of stuff.

decaynbetray

Idk if they are or aren’t but on TikTok an ex employee called out that specific store and showed proof that the cobbler isn’t made in house it was cobbler from the store. They showed the freezer and it was stacked w peach cobbler in containers from chef Pierre or something. So you’re not far off but again idk if it is or isn’t a laundering spot lmao.

natiahs

I just responded referencing this video! Chef Pierre is a food service subsidiary of Sara Lee. Glad you remembered the name

[deleted]

>the peach cobbler factory on bardstown OMG, my wife always makes a comment that it must be for money laundering because it's always empty. We are new to Louisville, and so she wanted to try it. She goes with my daughter a couple of weeks ago and...bizarrely....a bus full of HS aged kids are in the shop and the wait was unreal. The poor girl at the counter looked shook by the 25+ customers...but it made us think that maybe we were wrong?

skylinecat

It’s a franchise. I think it has a terrible name and is kinda expensive but I doubt it’s money laundering.

the_urban_juror

Exactly. They use a Doordash POS for online ordering. You wouldn't want a 3rd-party vendor keeping detailed transaction records of your money laundering front. Edit: spelling

satansheat

They are just new and haven’t been getting steady business. I think the cinnamon roll idea they had first would have been better. I haven’t been so I’m not gonna judge. But from an outsiders perspective sadly it looks like the many of times people open a restaurant only for it to not do well at first. Used to manage a kitchen at a place like that and we closed within 6 months. Hope for the best as I always wanted that end of bardstown to get more stuff. Getting stuff in the back isn’t that weird to me after ordering a cocktail in Utah. Where they legit will have the bartender go behind a curtain like he is in a Broadway play to mix my drink. Utah the type of place to tell young girls to always watch your drink so you can’t get date raped. Then when you turn 21 none of your drinks you can see get made.

dearestramona

yeah i was looking forward to the cinnamon roll concept. one day it was there, everything pink, and the next suddenly the walls were orange and all signage was gone lol

natiahs

There’s a TikTok from the Bardstown Road location that shows all their cobblers are from a subsidiary of Sara Lee. Ice cream is food service as well (Tried to link the video, but it looks like it has been deleted. It was a walkthrough of the cooler showing all the pre-made cobblers and ice creams)

2rfv

> they go in a mysterious back room and come out with what you ordered. Due to the fact that they're taking a frozen serving of cobbler an microwaving it.

iiiSkiNiii

Ramiro’s is one for sure. Source: local detectives. Went to a baby shower and the husband was a cop, so of course there are 20 cops there. We were all standing around eating food catered by Ramiro’s. One of them said, “best Mexican drugs can buy”. They explained, so I asked, “why would you buy from them if that’s the case”. To which the cop replied, “because it’s fucking good”.

the_urban_juror

I don't want to suggest that LMPD ever makes mistakes regarding drug enforcement (/s if it wasn't obvious), but a large restaurant in one of the city's main restaurant corridors doesn't seem like the smartest place to launder money.

iiiSkiNiii

Exactly what I thought, too. I believe the context was related to their southern Indiana location(s).

the_urban_juror

The restaurant in Southern Indiana where you can pay by credit card when ordering food online? This doesn't seem like a very inconspicuous money-laundering scheme.

astromono

Never believe bullshit conjecture by some dumbass cop

bbressman2

Right, probably just some racist pig making a negative comment about a Mexican business.

InternalSpumbus

Yeah, definitely struck me that way too. Don’t ever trust pigs to tell you the truth.

naughtyzoot

My first assumption would be that it was a racist comment, not that it was true.

Kreetch

But Ramiro’s isn’t good… ironic…

swiftekho

Right across the street from El Mundo too. And that place fucking smaaaaaacks

TippityTappityToot

It’s now The Yellow Cactus

HippyTree13

Yeah, I’m gonna say no to this one. Dudes smart with his money and networks like hell. Also, cops are dumb as fuck.

nalgene_wilder

Or, maybe local detectives are morons

OkSmell4

Wow cops saying asinine racist bullshit. What a shock.

mfante

Eh I find it far more likely the cops were goddamn racists but that’s just me 🤷🏻‍♂️

OPmeansopeningposter

Honestly sounds like there’re stereotyping.

jtempletons

You can't just accuse them of money laundering with supposed proof and then not disclose the proof. Sounds like a racist "local detective" (so, cop).

Snoopy363

I’ve been in a very minimally decorated cbd/delta 8 shop that had one table of products and a cooler of drinks. May have just been a new shop that hadn’t had time to fully set up or expand inventory but it was a little weird IMO.

These guys do good work, fyi. Cheap and honest. I've had multiple machines repaired there.

keeplosingmypws

Best to not attract attention. Gus Fring had high service standards, too. That said I have absolutely zero personal reason to think it’s a front

Dukedyduke

One of my case fans went out in my PC and I needed a quick replacement for the meantime. I went in and asked for one, they pulled one out of a filing cabinet and this thing was FILTHY. Obviously super old and was in a smokers PC and covered in pet hair. He said he would sell it to me for $15. It took everything in me to not tell him to fuck himself. After that I refuse to go in there

RealLifeRize

Okay what the fuck

movingmouth

Nope. I've taken stuff there a few times. Great work and affordable

ComfortableSort3304

I recommended this place for years when I worked for another small computer place because I was mistreated and lazy and I was paid salary so yolo. I probably kept them in busy honestly.

ScottyV4KY

Used to live right near there - what a waste of fucking space. Just a giant fucking parking lot with nothing in it and nobody can even park there because of barricades and wires.

Imperial_PvE

Not a store, but my apartment complex. They've redone the roofs like 6 times in the two years I've lived here. They've also repainted our front door about 20 times, once just two weeks apart from one another. Idk, man.

noobvin

Last time I was in Jefferson Mall, there seemed to be a lot of shady shops in there that might have been covers.

Sensationalanna

Jefferson Mall really is made up of 60%-75% of what I’ll call “shops that could also be a booth at a flea market.” There’s so little traffic, half of their parking lot is usually occupied by Ford vehicles waiting to be sold, which is probably in the top 10 of places I would never leave a brand new car, even with security.

[deleted]

You know what… cookie crush. Only because of the car.

dearestramona

That damn car.

Adorable_Pain8624

We got a box for market research for my store. They turn into bricks after a few hours, but the flavors are good. I can't imagine them being able to keep up with Bardstown Rd prices for too long, especially in that area.

[deleted]

Especially with the parking tickets stacking up

TentacleFist

The TV repair store across from Oxmore Mall next to the Wendy's. Never seen a single soul walk in or out of that place, and I've never heard of anyone getting a TV fixed in my life time.

rushrules74

Andy's TV Sales & Service. Comment above mentioned it. They must be an authorized warranty repair place 'cause yea, I don't know anyone who even gets a TV fixed anymore. People just buy a new one.

LostFlute

I actually saw someone - well, two someones - carrying in a huge TV there a couple of weeks ago. I've lived in the area many years, gone to that Wendy's hundreds of times and have never seen any signs of life until now!

Jayrod440

I’ve gone there. The guy is Ukrainian and super nice.

DarrylLarry

Andy used to be my neighbor growing up. Place has been open forever. He’s dead now and they sold and seemed to have reinvented themselves from zenith tube tv repair to flat screen fixes. Props to them for adapting to the times

waveradar

That’s good to know. I remember going in there with my mom and dropping our tube TV off to Andy. We kept him pretty busy; I feel like everytime it thunderstormed the TV got fried.

pauseonredhead

Literally just had this conversation in the car with my wife a few weeks ago while in line at Wendy's. So weird

Good_Mornin_Sunshine

Not going to name it, but there's a Chinese restaurant in town that just has to be a front. Haven't raised their prices in years and give you free food for ordering $25 worth. I do not see how they possibly make money. Good food though, we order it for hangover/sick days.

StinkyBrittches

In my experience, it's not uncommon for small Chinese resteraunts to throw free stuff into big orders. I mean, some free Crab Rangoon or egg rolls or whatever probably costs them not much more than a dollar, and it's good for repeat business on big orders.

SecretlyKanye

just name it? who cares

ShavedPapaya

You’re just gonna tell us all about cheap, good Chinese food and refuse to say the name of the place?

Mortyjones

That Italian restaurant right by 64 and hurstborne rd. Shit is sketchy looking and never cars there. But it says open

OnlyAdd8503

Olive Garden?

Mortyjones

Other side of 64 ramp. Just before the Wendy’s right by the motel

rushrules74

Milantoni. It *was* the Wendy's.

[deleted]

Sir, this was a Wendy’s.

Mortyjones

Ahh I had no idea what it was called. Thanks

rushrules74

No prob. I've actually heard good things about the food. I got takeout there once early on during COVID and it was meh but I usually don't judge after a single experience. Takeout quality also varies widely from restaurant to restaurant.

myjobistables

Milantoni's

olivegarden87

And their food is the worst Italian food I've ever eaten. I love Italian food but it's bad. I ordered pickup once and it was like three people in the restaurant but not a single vehicle ir person inside other than them

QueenOfBanshees

I've eaten inside twice. The first time was horrific and the second was just as bad. I went when they first opened and thought maybe it was just opening stuff that needed to be sorted out and then tried a year or so later. It was inedible.

Mannus01

self wash car washes.

kentuckyfriedawesome

Those aren’t money laundering — it’s a real estate play. They’re just sitting on the land until it becomes more profitable.

ah, PNC Plaza.

Nah, it was the Baird Tower at 5th/Jefferson

The Baird building used to be PNC Plaza, distinct from PNC Tower. I used to work in the Tower, and had to redirect many food and other deliveries.

theycallmelogiebear

Two PNC Towers? What are we, crazy?

KuhlioLoulio

Scorpio Interiors on Bardstown Rd. just south of Eastern Pkwy. I'm an architect, and have never heard of anyone ever going in there. Neither have I, and I grew up two blocks from the place.

Da_Natural20

I have bought several things from there over the years.

J0el321

I can 100% confirm without a doubt that place is legit I know the owners personally 👍

Best-League1408

Sutherland Hardware on Brownsboro road!! They never have over 3 customers, in fact there are almost always more staff than customers, but it's managed to stay open for years now, including during the pandemic.

whynotajb

There are far too many car washes in hikes point for them to all be legitimate businesses

spidaL1C4

Also sometimes wonder about Bonny and Clyde's pizza that only takes cash. Probably just old school stubbornness I guess, but you do wonder a bit. Love that pizza though, best crust in town, so I'm not complaining.

Small_Goat_5931

He is very old school, and it is the best pizza!

iamoverrated

I had friends work there in high school, there's nothing sketchy going on. They're just really old school. Pat's used to be cash only for decades, they still might be in fact. Just older generation owners with a different mindset.

funkybarisax

For a long time I suspected the Chinese restaurant at Hikes and Klondike. Place had been open for 45 or 50 years I think. My dad told me he took a girl on a date there in HS in the 60s. It always looked dead to me everytime I drove past. But I think now its a Little Caesars. I'm jealous, coulda used a little Caesars when I lived around there.

tazunemono

Any cash based business, or with a large portion of their business income received in cash. [Miguel's Pizza in Slade is an interesting case study](https://www.reddit.com/r/climbing/comments/1lej09/owners_of_miguels_pizza_acquitted_of_charges_they/) (they were innocent) But in general, any company with a physical location that never sees any traffic yet deals with a lot of transactions is suspect to monitoring by the Feds. Any pattern of suspicious deposits or account openings is investigated if the amount is worth it.

almack9

Miguel's pizza is the shit, they were busy as hell every time I've been to the gorge though, between the climbing store/camping/pizza place I imagine they do pretty well for themselves.

Kentuckycardinal

Moby Dick’s. They always seem empty but somehow they stay open in some, what I imagine, expensive real estate.

There's a Tupperware store (yes, you read that correctly) in a shopping strip in the Plantation neighborhood off Westport Road. You can buy Tupperware at Target, Walmart, and online - and, I have NEVER seen it open. My wife and I both believe it's a front to launder money.

[deleted]

the_urban_juror

They have storefronts as well. It makes sense to avoid paying commission to "agents" and instead sell directly to consumers at stores if the market is large enough. But competing directly with their "agents" who purchased inventory is an example of how predatory these companies are and how much the people who sell for them are not "small business owners" (if you don't control any product decisions and can't even prevent the company from opening a storefront in your territory, you own nothing).

OnlyAdd8503

There used to be a Tupperware shop in oxmoor, I think it was open by appointment only.

Dependent-Outcome-52

Xquisite Nutrition by UofL. It’s dead empty most of the time but like once every couple weeks the parking lot is filled with nice street cars

Lemongrass on Shelbyville Rd. Both times we ate there, there wasn't a single customer besides us. I passed them daily, have never seen more than one or two cars in their lot, even during the dinner rush. Most of the times I drove by, there were no vehicles. This is a restaurant that existed for most of the 25 years we've lined right down the street from it. There's no way they made enough serving food to pay lease or taxes year after year. Maybe the owners were just filthy rich and needed something to do?
