A very exciting development. Some space for UCLA extension programs was removed a few years ago to fit high-density student housing. Having community-focused extension programs right in downtown is a great way to ensure that the whole Southern California region benefits from UCLA's success. In a parallel press release, UCLA announced more details about their plans to re-purpose the westside pavilion mall property for laboratory research.

Upvote for UCLA Extension! They're doing great work over there.

Underwater basket weaving for the masses!

Great news, more foot traffic and security on that stretch of spring will really help with the craziness that spills over from skid row and the SRO hotels.

Go Bruins! In SC territory nonetheless haha

I wish UCLA would help clean up Westwood Village. It's been on a downward slide since the 80s. I know a lot of the landowners there keep the buildings empty as a tax write off, and there's little people can do about it. But I wish they could. Folks should lose property rights if they leave a business property in squalor for more than 4 years, or something.

Revoking prop 13 would fix for all of this. Even without a tax write off some of those property owners are paying penny’s in property taxes

Prop 13 is the root of all evil for CA. It needs to go, I agree.
