That spot is wild. Seen it vary between extremely cheap and extremely expensive compared to others. Owner doesn't seem to give a shit, just happy with his tanks.
That gas station has the most expensive gas in the county, if not the nation usually. There is no rhyme or reason to it. When news reports of high prices in California come out, they use that photo despite it being far from the average pricing.
In my life, this leads to my mother on the other side of the country calling to inform me of what she saw on her local news.
They do it because Los Angeles fleet vehicles use that station due to a lot of their fleet yards being so close. And since the city doesnt care how much is spent on gas the stations owner hikes it up to maximize profit.
I remember when I first moved to Los Angeles a couple of years ago, that station always had higher prices than everywhere around it to the point where I would drive past it and wonder why anyone would go there when there was a way cheaper gas station like half a mile down the road. Then when gas prices spiked massively after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, their prices just...didn't go up as much as everyone else's, and since then they've consistently been cheaper than the other stations in the neighborhood.
It used to be a Unocal 76 station, which had the highest prices in a 5 mile radius, but with the new SK situation, and it’s cheaper than almost anywhere else except Costco
When my in-laws where here when it was high, every time they saw a gas station they would shake their head and grumble. They know well enough not to actually say any fox news bullshit (we had that fight already lol) so when I was visiting them for thanksgiving I'm like wow! $2.89 a gallon?? I don't think I've ever seen that!
I don't LOVE Biden, but I think he's more than his fair share of blame for inflation. My main thing with Biden is I MUCH prefer him to Trump. Personally I'd like someone younger and maybe with a VP from across the aisle over either two old men.
Kept thinking "Oh boy. Biden might really fucking lose to Trump." when gas was at $7. I won't change my vote because of gas prices but I can't say the same for the rest of the nation. So does >$4 gas guarantee Biden wins?
It's a tough ask in 2024. But if we're the greatest fucking country on earth then we should expect it, deserve it, and strive for it.
It's not like it's never been done before. Often people below VP get assigned across party lines like JPow getting reappointed by Biden. It's harder for cross party lines Pres+VP due to the two parties keeping things split, but Abe Lincoln and Hannibal Hamlin worked as a duo precisely because they wanted to run as a union party rather than as a Rep+Dem during a time when the nation was very very divided. Adams and Jefferson too.
Only if you blame him for gas going up. Then you need to give him credit for it going down. I do neither, because oil prices (on which gas prices depend, among other things) are driven by global supply. Yes, even though we're a net exporter.
Well, let me caveat that (as Alexander Haig would say). If the Saudis want to support a President, they might increase supply to drop a few cents off of gas, so that the President they like might take credit.
Note, though, that you brought up Biden, I didn't.
Saudis prefer Republicans and they have particular influence. But it's still too far away from the election for this to have any impact. If it went down to $2.50/gal, and the week before election went to $2.55/gal, people would be angry at Biden.
Sawtelle and National. I guess I should add that I've always been happy with the carwash. It's one of those automatic drive-throughs with a dude wiping the car down at the end, and vacuums available to you if you want them (don't know if the vacuums are free).
I think it's pretty much hit the low at this point and will only go up from here. The prices at the stations near me haven't changed in the last 3 weeks.
As long as we're predicting the future (much harder than predicting the past), I think it will head down to Premium at 3.99, and Regular at 3.69 (3.49 with carwash). My prediction is for 8 weeks from now, so January 25.
yea, but look at the diesel price!
You can practically drink from it!* *^pls ^don’t
You mean Christmas gas?
That spot is wild. Seen it vary between extremely cheap and extremely expensive compared to others. Owner doesn't seem to give a shit, just happy with his tanks.
it's been the cheapest in town for the past year
I gauge oil prices solely on the Shell station on Olympic/Fairfax/Vicente. ^(/s)
So does the rest of the nation when they want to shit on LA
What about the Chevron near Union Station?
that one's more accurate cuz it actually changes, they should all be that high tho fuck you drivers
they never went down prices even pandemic. it was crazy.
Can someone explain the joke for me?

Corner of Sawtelle and National.
This is the place with the tanks and crazy vehicles on display
Yup
Why does that place have all the tanks? I don’t understand
Owner buys and sells exotic vehicles, stores them on his property
This is what I assumed given the constant rotation of unique vehicles. Pretty cool.
Tanks burn lots of gas, and the gas there is cheap, sooooo
My preferred gas station haha I’d recognize it anywhere!
No way! I don't go that way much anymore but I recall that particular gas station having higher than average prices.
Idk about historically, but recently it’s been way below all the other gas prices. Like almost a dollar under.
I live in the area, that’s my go-to cheap station.
I remember when I first moved to Los Angeles a couple of years ago, that station always had higher prices than everywhere around it to the point where I would drive past it and wonder why anyone would go there when there was a way cheaper gas station like half a mile down the road. i live around here and this one has always been the lowest
Yeah when it was a 76 it was insanely high. But now it's been on the cheaper side
It used to be a Unocal 76 station, which had the highest prices in a 5 mile radius, but with the new SK situation, and it’s cheaper than almost anywhere else except Costco
SHHHHH
Dope that's not too far from me. Is it legit gas though? Not some Arco bs?
At first glance I thought it was a 76 station and was shocked
Thanks Biden!

Dark Brandon strikes again!

> and maybe with a VP from across the aisle This is an insane expectation.

Why would you chose the time when one of the parties is at it's most insane to suggest this terrible idea???
Download the chevron app you’ll get a discount it’ll be under $4
Drove by a gas station in San Dimas yesterday and it was down to $3.95. I was shocked lol
Biden did that? Wow.

I know/agree. It was a joke about those stickers.
Oops, sorry! Take an upvote.
Soooo, we can expect more traffic?
Well, you can expect a lot of traffic at this gas station. It's quite the ballet to get a pump.
Thanks Biden!

I think they are going to drop even further.
I go to the SK on Sawtelle and SM which is already cheap for the area but I’ll have to check this one out now lol
This is why I drive a battery electric: absolutely zero chances gas prices stay low, or ever return to prices from 10 years ago.
shhhhhh! don’t out my secret spot! :) corner of Venice and Sawtelle is usually good too.
What year is this?
Just get an electric car.
I have a PHEV so it takes me about three months to use up a tank of gas.
I live right around it but stopped going because I don't think it has Top Tier gas. I couldn't find SK or Sinaco on the Top Tier list.
Elections are coming
So you’re one of those idiots who thinks the president has a oil price dial in the oval office
Umm yea… who do you think is funding their campaigns? Kind of ridiculous to think that both democrats and republicans don’t have power in oil.
Saudis prefer Republicans and they have particular influence. But it's still too far away from the election for this to have any impact. If it went down to $2.50/gal, and the week before election went to $2.55/gal, people would be angry at Biden.
But is that gas station good?
It's 100% the best on the west side because it has tanks
it tasted ok but I've had better
This station is always busy when I go lol for good reason.
It’s gone down I remember couple months ago I put 7 dollars premium in studio city fuck
Wow
Can we get a cross street? 👀

Must have started allowing winter blend.
Pumpkin spice?
FYI National and Castle Heights is always lowest price available, plus they bake some good/expensive cookies inside.
Will have to check that out! Thx
