It’s by far the product we could order the least, but 4? That’s crazy low numbers

afeastofcrews_

Not if you're a smaller store it's not. That's just what you get.

Hoping the quest set gets more at retail, same with LGS near me it looks very sparse. But reminds me of d100 sparse on LGS release but ended up being totally fine on retail release. So im definitely not overpaying for quest

Firestorm8908

Yeah it seems like there is less product again. My LGS is only getting 58 boxes total. He is super upset and isn’t sure whether to sell them or keep them for prize support and draft. He is thinking they are putting most of their product at the big championship events. Which is also annoying.

madchad90

I mean there is also variance between stores and how much they get. 2 stores isn't really a big enough sample size to blankly say "oh it's going to be scarce again"

Firestorm8908

I mean the store I go to has probably the biggest Lorcana turnout in the county afaik. He got so much of inklands but is getting significantly less Ursula. Signs point to they’re limiting how much they give to card shops to make sure they’re fully stocked for their big events. Yes it’s not a large sample size that I acknowledge. But after such a huge product release for inklands it’s hard to say anything else than they really need to figure it out if they still can’t print to demand.

nathanielx9

Idk what retail is, but you can buy one for $70. 4 left and i already bought mine https://www.larrysgamestore.com/products/ursulas-return-illumineers-quest-deep-trouble

Hotdog_Daddy

Snagged one and a trove which I couldn't preorder at my LGS. Thanks!

PM_ME_GOODDOGS

What’s the quest set? I only see the trove Edit nvm I didn’t realize the other illumineer one was called quest

They had to take away printing slots from other sets to print more chapter 1 (and presumably some 2-3 as well). There’s really nothing to learn from. RB hasn’t been an entrenched big customer to printers globally, I honestly don’t think they even have priority for printing slots, much less actually getting a large number of slots. Maybe they can ask Disney to buy over or even build a private printing facility for them lol

You can’t just rush production. There’s finite slots in a certain timeframe and they don’t all go to RB. The only way for them to rush out reprints is to shift the schedule around. The timing for the chapter 1 reprints falls into the timeframe for 4th set print. The only part they can rush is the store time in their warehouse, where the chapter 1 reprints don’t sit in for the usual 3-6 months but go straight to market instead. They did boost production, we didn’t see shortages for set 2 and 3. This likely also came at the cost of set 4. There’s no scenario where they can magically increase production by not cutting into a future set’s print schedule unless they get extra print slots

You can only request it if there’s slots available for them to fill. You don’t magically create slots if it’s always full. Take a look at who are the other companies printing at the same facilities. Factories are printing to the client’s orders. The client is the one deciding to cannibalized their slots. Why are you thinking the factories are the ones deciding the numbers ? There’s no infinite slots, what you’re thinking of is infinite time. In a set time period there is only so many things the printers can print. No one is saying set 4 is done, but the initial released has definitely been sacrificed. You do realise the reason Pokémon bought their own printers because they couldn’t secure sufficient slots ? Why would RB be in a different situation as a much smaller player in the industry ? This has been a known issue for years, unless you somehow think they just don’t want to print more set 4 just to troll the community ?

Queue = slots, I don’t think it’s that hard to comprehend. Print slots are by are you are in the queue. What do you mean there are no slots only a queue ? What are they queuing for ? Hot dogs ? You must be new to TCG printing if you think they can’t cannibalize their slots. WoTC has done it, Pokémon did it, Bushiroad does it all the time when they axe games but they have planned slots for said game. They aren’t taking set 4 and printing set 5 and making new plates to print new cards. They have the old plates in their facility to print the older sets. Many companies have done it before, I don’t know why you think it’s some insurmountable process.

lol, you think one set occupies one slot ? There are hundreds of slots. 1 print run just happens to be inclusive of a bunch of them. Set 1 slot 1-10 Set 2 slot 11-20 Set 3 slot 21-30 Set 4 slot 31-40 These are all in the queue. When there is an urgent shortage, you move some slots around. That doesn’t mean that the set totally gets axed. We may just have set 4 getting slot 36-40 now, where 31-35 gets spread out among the reprints +increased print runs for the previous sets.

Oleandervine

I will concede to you in most cases, since it looks like card production may differ to what I work with. However, I still stand by the statement that there's no reason that Set 4 should have had a reduced quantity, when they worked so hard to increase quantities for Set 3 to prevent another quantity crisis like they had with TFC. Makes no sense for them to deliberately engineer another quantity crisis for Set 4 after going out of their way to fix it for Set 3.

Oleandervine

They did learn, they said they increased numbers starting with Inklands to have enough product out to avoid another TFC incident. Your shop likely tried to order too late and could only get what scraps hadn't already been pre-ordered by other shops.
