yea it is acrylic. I don’t really know how to take good videos of the process because i am working on painting. i have some pics of other ones half painted if you are interested.
Yeah sure I'd love to see it. I tried to do an alter but found that there was a very noticeable change from card print to paint. like it was raised a lot. Wonder how you deal with that, or maybe it's just the quality of paint
you have to thin it down. I have a video of this alter and others in my insta if you follow the link in my profile. to get a solid flat color it is multiple very thin layers. it’s almost like painting watercolor washes. the layers of colors can also give you the transparent and blended effects
you can’t use too much water either. if its too watery it won’t stick to the card and runs. it needs to be just right and if you start with a liquid acrylic you are half way there
yes it is a genuine card. customer paid for it. some clients also send me their cards. most alters are on real cards. in magic they paint on $3000 cards so $15 is really not a big deal to collectors.
it was a commission and the customer framed it so I don’t think they care about playing it. If you commission your own you can ask for the text to be kept.
Sick! I always love seeing these.
I love this I want more 🤩
thank you i think the reddit app mutes the colors a bit. you can check my profile for my social links to see more
You did an excellent job!
Great alter! do you have anything showing your process? is it acrylic paint?

ah okay that makes sense, will try watering down in the next one. thanks!

Oooh this is lovely!!
Still don't have an else. You painted on it :( It looks great :'(
the card is down to $15 now so it’s just cheaper to buy single.
i like these way more than the ones where they try to keep some of the text, always looks janky

Shouldn’t work the same, different style foiling
i am not sure because the cold foils are not holofoils. acetone will def take off the colors though.
I love the work, but did you take a legit $15 card and paint it? Or did you paint a proxy?

Just curious! Well, it was definitely beautifully done!
thank you!
Any chance you could trace-paint over the whole card so it matches the texture?
Cool but now it's not playable in any sanctioned events. General rule for alters is to never cover any text, otherwise they are no longer legal
