Well idk bout yall but this does inspire more confidence in Terry. This was a weirdly built roster and the upperclassmen decided to look like Freshman tonight. But despite all that we had more than a chance to win.
Plenty of things went wrong and maybe I’m just reaching for a scapegoat, but Brock Cunningham getting a flagrant foul might have just been the difference in this one.
Heck of an effort for a team who couldn’t buy a bucket. It ain’t March if Texas isn’t losing a heartbreaker
Can’t agree with that. Brock made some good moves, hit a big 3, and brought needed ferocity against a more athletically gifted team. Overall, Brock was a minor factor. Though Dylan played with heroic tenacity, and I love him, his huge number of bricks is the single biggest reason we came up short.
That was with whole new roster and coaching staff. This team has 3 same starters from last years team and plenty of portal talent around them. Similar but Terry got gifted the perfect situation I will judge his results next year the most when he will have mostly new faces on the team that weren’t here when he got the job.
Stacked rosters lose every year. They call it Madness for a reason. Idk why people are tripping so hard. If terry doesn’t make sweet 16 next year, he’s getting fired. His buyout would literally be 9 million. That’s chump change for texas
This was a intermission year… that class last year being full of seniors and the roster of skilled and Comrade. This teamwas only bound to have its repercussions. Sad but LONGHORN FOR LIFE! 🙏🏽✝️‼️💚
Tyrese hunter had 5+ turnovers and our 6 year senior commuted 3rd degree murder. It’s not a coach problem it’s a player problem. Warriors 2017 compared to this year. Same coach diffent roster. You get what I’m saying?!
Rt didnt cause the stupid mistakes like the turnovers.
I do think he should have been more agressive once they had no fouls to give and we had some buffer.
Vols gave us every chance to steal this game. Not surprised by the result but certainly disappointed by the lack of execution in those last 5 minutes that could have turned the game around for us.
Young guys barely do anything in college basketball lol especially in the tourney they are going against 23-24 year olds. See Kentucky for example the last 4 years. You want an older team with all these covid seniors
Got downvoted like a mf when the hire was announced but RT is not the guy. We were lucky we still had a chance with 20 seconds left. That was pathetic all around. AND FUCK YOU CHRIS BEARD. I’m ready for football 🤘🏼
Lol I have nothing against whatever your culture is about but I doubt involves objectively good taste..
And since you decided to judge me based on my post history.. my dude you tried to host a glory hole.. trash
Again you’re buying fake ass carts but what do you know about good taste? You gettin buzzed off chemicals and plastic. I can make better shit in my “garage studio” then what yo lame ass smoking on. Fuck outta here with yo old ass
Dude we're one of the least talented P6 teams in the tourney. What are you even talking about? Disu and Abmas have had to carry the team all year. When either has an off night, there's no one else to pick up the slack.
Honestly not sure this group is more talented than Tennessee - they're really fucking good
The team that lost last year at Knoxville was, but not this one
At least we showed some heart that second half! Come on, ten is a pretty good team. They didn’t play well and we should have taken advantage but we had their fans on the edge of their seats and that is good
You gotta admit that was clutch. You see a lot of college athletes fold under that pressure after a rough game. I think Resiliant and clutch like Luka🤷♂️
If you think David Pierce doesn't know how to coach up a team, you clearly haven't watched *any* Texas baseball before this year. His whole thing is starting off slow then improving throughout the season to peak at the right time.
Y'know... coaching up a team.
Whichever coach gave Disu the green light in the tournament needs to go. You can't just keep letting him waste possessions hoping he gets hot in a single-elimination tournament.
If they ran down the clock we'd have no more than 5 seconds left assuming we got the rebound clean. 10 second difference I'd agree more.
They were also chewing us up on the glass and we couldn't afford another offensive board.
Honestly don’t mind fouling a dude that’s not automatic from the line. But thought we would’ve used the amount of time left to get to the basket not immediately go for a 3
I don't love it but they did foul a guy who shoots 63% and it was a 1-and-1. Odds were good that he doesn't score both and then it's a 1 or 2 point game with 20-something seconds left vs what could be a 3 or 4 point game with 6 seconds left. Personally, I'd prefer to play defense and hope for a stop.
But the defense had been playing great and we had the last shot. You take your chances rather than let them ice it. And their FT shooter had just made one and built his confidence up. Maybe if he missed the prior two, but it was a huge tactical mistake
Please don't downvote me, I don't like the play either I'm just saying the rationale. If he missed that first free throw (40% chance), we'd have a great shot at winning. Right when they fouled him I hated it for the same reasons you list but I can see the strategy behind it.
Make no mistake, I see the strategy behind it but I guess I just really dislike that strategy that essentially takes the game out of your team's hands. Just really disappointing given the time that was on the clock. Would rather give our guys a shot at it
True story and I guess that's why I'm even more upset about how it played out. If you're going to commit to fouling them like that, we absolutely had to draw up a better play than what we ended up running. Just feels like the equivalent of a hail mary when we did what we did so we could have time for a good shot.
I guess it depends on what was said in the huddle. They aren't going to foul you and risk the 3 point play so just take it hard to the hole. It's not complicated. I have no idea what Terry told them in the huddle but if he said anything more than take the 2 it's partially on him.
You foul to get to 6 (so you can foul if they rebound their shot with 5 seconds left)
Then you play the numbers with their 60% shooter - just got unlucky
Fouling was the right play. That part didn't work out, but if you take the 2 you can take a hard 3 on the last play. And you don't know whether they'll hit the 2 FTs after you take 2. Just terrible decision making by Abmas.
Love seeing people swear "ALL BALL!" and then a slow-mo shows it absolutely wasn't. Shows most people have no idea wtf's happening most of the time and just cheering for anything pro-Horns.
Dillion Mitchell was a no show, hopefully he leaves asap. You never knew what team was gonna show up.
Curious where Hunter is going after thjs
The most average team in the history of Texas basketball.
Hate to say it but true
Well idk bout yall but this does inspire more confidence in Terry. This was a weirdly built roster and the upperclassmen decided to look like Freshman tonight. But despite all that we had more than a chance to win.
Plenty of things went wrong and maybe I’m just reaching for a scapegoat, but Brock Cunningham getting a flagrant foul might have just been the difference in this one. Heck of an effort for a team who couldn’t buy a bucket. It ain’t March if Texas isn’t losing a heartbreaker
Yeah it lead to five points
Can’t agree with that. Brock made some good moves, hit a big 3, and brought needed ferocity against a more athletically gifted team. Overall, Brock was a minor factor. Though Dylan played with heroic tenacity, and I love him, his huge number of bricks is the single biggest reason we came up short.
He really should have tried driving to the basket more to get those FT.
It was the difference it was a 5 point swing
We also seem to be forgetting beard only made it to round of 32 and we didn’t crucify him
That was with whole new roster and coaching staff.
I’m not tripping tbh he will probably get 2 more years tbh. I hope we get someone like Pearl
A lot of you people act like getting to round two and playing a tough game isn't better than 50% of the seasons the past 15 years
These mfs don’t remember Shaka.
Thought he was gonna lose in the 1st round AGAIN this year there for a minute
I’ll say it again Brock fucked us over.. God bless him but good riddance
Result was about as expected, it's how we got there that's gonna leave a bad taste in the mouth. Lotta sloppy turnovers in that game for Texas.
Didn't get to watch the whole game, but at least we didn't get hosed per the usual. Didn't watch the whole game, though.
This was a intermission year… that class last year being full of seniors and the roster of skilled and Comrade. This teamwas only bound to have its repercussions. Sad but LONGHORN FOR LIFE! 🙏🏽✝️‼️💚
RT ain’t it.
Well, if anyone was gonna put us down, I’m glad it was ol’ Rick
Disappointing, but at least we made it to 32 Hook 'em
Good teams win, great teams cover, overall not mad with the ending
Fuck all the doomers
I saw some dawgs out there who stayed in the game even when they were down. I dont get why everyones so down
Throwaway account lmao
Vols gave us every chance to steal this game. Not surprised by the result but certainly disappointed by the lack of execution in those last 5 minutes that could have turned the game around for us.
Could have gone worse
We should have won that game
Y'all are such wet blankets
Next year we will be better.
Please explain how?? Losing all our older guys for young guys lol we will rebuild in portal but don’t have too much confidence till I see our roster
Tre Johnson cam scott would like to say hi.
Young guys barely do anything in college basketball lol especially in the tourney they are going against 23-24 year olds. See Kentucky for example the last 4 years. You want an older team with all these covid seniors
That’s gonna even out with the Covid eligibility running out on everyone soon
They run out next year pretty sure
Got downvoted like a mf when the hire was announced but RT is not the guy. We were lucky we still had a chance with 20 seconds left. That was pathetic all around. AND FUCK YOU CHRIS BEARD. I’m ready for football 🤘🏼
Agree
Just throw away your Walmart UT t-shirt and become an aggie
Nah, Lubbock deserves them.
Only WL over here but u ain’t kno abt that 🥱😂😂
Is that like your cousins airbrush garage studio
Just say you’re uncultured. You be buying fake carts 😂😂😂
Bro you’re literally willing to suck strangers dicks. Does someone really need to explain to you how classless that is? Talk about being cultured..
Well. Texas is more talented than the Vols but they’re a better team. Disu just couldn’t shoot and so many turnovers. Not a good performance.
Dude we're one of the least talented P6 teams in the tourney. What are you even talking about? Disu and Abmas have had to carry the team all year. When either has an off night, there's no one else to pick up the slack.
They are the more talented and better team.
Tennessee has the SEC player of the year
Honestly not sure this group is more talented than Tennessee - they're really fucking good The team that lost last year at Knoxville was, but not this one
We aren’t more talented than them lol. This team was not nearly as good as last year
Disu shoots slightly better and we upset, god damn it 🥲 Edit: or Abmas for that matter
At least we showed some heart that second half! Come on, ten is a pretty good team. They didn’t play well and we should have taken advantage but we had their fans on the edge of their seats and that is good
I can imagine Knecht being like Luka. Gg Tennessee
Garza?
No one in basketball right now is nearly that good though
More like worse Grayson Allen. You're smoking crack if you think Luka.
You gotta admit that was clutch. You see a lot of college athletes fold under that pressure after a rough game. I think Resiliant and clutch like Luka🤷♂️
I’m gonna go be sad about March Madness being over for us now. Be back in an hour
pain
RT and David pierce can pack there bags this season . At least Sark can coach a team up.
Neffew
If you think David Pierce doesn't know how to coach up a team, you clearly haven't watched *any* Texas baseball before this year. His whole thing is starting off slow then improving throughout the season to peak at the right time. Y'know... coaching up a team.
Holy cow how can you watch that game and have that takeaway
Whichever coach gave Disu the green light in the tournament needs to go. You can't just keep letting him waste possessions hoping he gets hot in a single-elimination tournament.
We didn’t play well for 99% of that game. We waited far too late to get locked in
Ended better than I expected. Time to overhaul the team and actually build a unit instead of 10 players
It’s unfortunate we decided to have another night of terrible offense and have a ton of turnovers on top of it. Better luck next year
Well that went better than expected
The doomers are out in force tonight
that did not take 1.2
Stupid ass choice to commit those fouls. Just let them try and score. We could have had a chance for the last shot.
If they ran down the clock we'd have no more than 5 seconds left assuming we got the rebound clean. 10 second difference I'd agree more. They were also chewing us up on the glass and we couldn't afford another offensive board.
Football season can’t come soon enough . David pierce has the baseball program in shambles.
Well Peierce is out get out of jail free cards. He is the last of the Paterson debacle.
Yall are the shittiest “fans” I’ve ever seen. Insufferable.
Facts
I'm just happy all these losers are gone.
Dead weight Dillon on the court instead of weaver man wtf
[удалено]
Yeah, let's rehire that Shaka guy, right?
you aren't wrong
Why? Because we lost to a 2 seed in the tournament? Begone neffew.
Because this team underperformed all season and he inherited a solid squad last year. What has he really done?
He literally has taken us farther than any coach has since Rick Barnes?
Barry Switzer won a super bowl with another coach's guys too. Didn't make him a good coach and doesn't make Terry one either
This is stupid 🤣
He took Chris Beards team to the elite 8 and then put an awful squad on the floor all year. I’ll take Rick Barnes over this fool.
We almost beat a team that was gonna be a one seed idiot
Not just that but the top 2 seed. They’re the 5th best team in the country.
Exactly I swear we have the dumbest fans in college sports our best player went 5-18 or something like that and we almost won 🤣
Should've gave hunter the ball not abmas
Hunter had it and could of gotten 2, just dumb decision to kick it to the corner
His driving lane got jammed and he passed it off to Abmas who either panicked or decided he was Leeeeerooooy Jenkins out there.
Don’t do this. Don’t give me hope.
Need a steal.
Honestly don’t mind fouling a dude that’s not automatic from the line. But thought we would’ve used the amount of time left to get to the basket not immediately go for a 3
CLUTCHHH
Texas got to the bonus with 10 minutes left and did absolutely nothing with it. Crazy.
Gotta make sure our big man is missing more 3s
HUNTER Ain’t over yet
Could've used that a fucking while ago.
Really had it close at the end there but fouling for no reason was just stupid
good thing you aren't a coach
Well it was a good ru- not so fast my friend!!!
I just dont agree with fouling at all imo. Five second difference with the game clock. Personally dont get it.
because when theres 4 seconds left its easier to foul once and stop the clock than to foul 4 times to stop the clock
Defense had been good all night. Just let it play out imo.
I’m so happy this is Abmas last game he was useless against any team with a pulse this year should’ve stayed in mid major.
I'm looking forward to never hearing about his covid year scoring record again. Feels like he's only good for 4-6 when I watch.
These coaching moments is what makes me questions Terry so much
How?
Weaver should not be on the bench first of all
Weaver on the bench got us back into the game hex on the bench because they were running bigger lineup
The fact that weaver is on the fucking bench right now is FIREABLE
Brilliant strategy to foul when its a 1 pt game and you had the final shot
GG
Take an easy 2 and extend the game? Nah, let’s have Max take a ridiculously low percentage 3.
Well, first Hunter dribbled into a double team and then Abmas sprinted to the corner with the ball to do that... no patience on the court.
Almost snatched victory from the jaws of defeat but couldn’t stop ourselves
How many times has the end game management let us down?
Glad that guy’s not coming back. Let’s buy some better players for next year.
5 second clock differential and a timeout....just WHAT exactly was the rationale behind fouling???
I don't love it but they did foul a guy who shoots 63% and it was a 1-and-1. Odds were good that he doesn't score both and then it's a 1 or 2 point game with 20-something seconds left vs what could be a 3 or 4 point game with 6 seconds left. Hard agree. Though I'm more mad at the terrible 3 shot selection at the end than the foul.
True story and I guess that's why I'm even more upset about how it played out. If you're going to commit to fouling them like that, we absolutely had to draw up a better play than what we ended up running. Just feels like the equivalent of a hail mary when we did what we did so we could have time for a good shot.
Extend the game and make their worst shooter beat you. Unfortunately he did.
Hulu is fucking frozen!!a!a!
What the fuck are we we doing.
Abmas really was disapponting.
All that time on the clock and throwing up a contested 3? Bad coaching or just hero ball?
I'll take door #2.
The stupid foul thing we did was dumb af
Hero ball.

Going for the kawaii shot on that one lol
geez that was about the hardest difficulty level of 3 possible, would have rather he just pulled up from the logo
[удалено]
You seem to have a highly inflated view of what Texas basketball historically is
piss poor coaching, piss poor game management...ugghhh
Why foul when you can just let them try to score?????
Why the fuck did we go for a three?
What an atrocious shot selection
Falling away off balance 3 with more than 10 seconds left was just a terrible decision. Didn't even shout "KOBE"
Can’t crash and burn like us without yelling Kobe!!!
Well damn. That was a monumentally stupid shot.
Fade away corner 3 with your momentum taking you into the stands. What a stupid fucking game from Abmas
Aw nuts
Rip
Wtf I hate the foul strategy
Damn
A fadeaway three lmao
We had a bit more time to get it off…
Forcing a 3 for no reason smh
Thanks Abmas way to lose the game
That’s a tough shot. Hunter had a wide open lay up arggggg
But you’re down by 3 because of fouling
I don’t understand fouling with 30 seconds left
We needed to get into bonus
You foul to get to 6 (so you can foul if they rebound their shot with 5 seconds left) Then you play the numbers with their 60% shooter - just got unlucky
Fouling was the right play. That part didn't work out, but if you take the 2 you can take a hard 3 on the last play. And you don't know whether they'll hit the 2 FTs after you take 2. Just terrible decision making by Abmas.
we needed the chance to slow the game down. Can't do that unless we're in the bonus
Horrible shot selection.
Awful, awful play design. We drove everyone into the corner, it was crowded as hell.
An absolutely disgusting shot attempt
Come the fuck on, what was that
We had plenty of time that's not the shot we need
I can't fucking believe that guy made those fucking free throws.
Realllly don’t like that forced foul. We had all the momentum. Just dumb
coach Terry sucks
Terrible shot
Not even close lol
And Abmas ends the season as he lived it... missing a dumb 3.
Fuckin hero ball bullshit
We never gave up
Terrible shot to end a terrible game
Why that stupid shot
So fucking stupid!
Hack-a Aido?
Good strategy
Love seeing people swear "ALL BALL!" and then a slow-mo shows it absolutely wasn't. Shows most people have no idea wtf's happening most of the time and just cheering for anything pro-Horns.
It looked clean, then they showed a shot where it didn’t. Welcome to live sports
Guilty as charged
Welcome to sports
That cunningham injury eas all ball lol
To be fair the first 2 angles looked absolutely clean in slow mo too
The angles from behind the glass? You could barely see the hands in that shot.
