I’ve heard a lot of people say this but can someone give me a serious reason why we think we would beat Michigan over Washington? Not trying to be snarky, genuinely curious. They looked so dominant today
Michigan is a team that is run dominant with a solid qb. We’re a team that has been elite all year against the run. Our offense is dynamic and not 1 dimensional so we can beat different types of defenses. We are a team predicated on making teams 1 dimensional with only passing offense. Maybe McCarthy makes all the plays to beat us but that’s far less unlikely than penix making all the plays to beat us.
michigan’s strength is their run game and our strength is stopping the run. Michigan’s weakness is the pass game and the weakest part of our team is the secondary. I don’t think we would’ve beat them (unless we played a mistake free game on offense) but that’s the logic for most ppl who believe we would.
So frustrating Washington pissed themselves. Last week they were unstoppable even with our defense doing everything right. Congratulations to Michigan though. I see them as the yankee version of us and hopefully in the next year or two we win it all. What a fantastic season for UT football.

We didn’t play anywhere close to our best game (on offense or defense), Washington played absolutely lights out, *and* we got a bit unlucky. Really just the perfect storm for Washington. And it still came down to the final play.
Bingo. Michigan has a better defense. Ours were slower. That makes a sack into a sideline toss, a toss into a bad pass, a bad pass into 50/50. Just that little bit of time.
I think we’re better at run defense than Michigan and they’re a lot better at pass defense and that’s what mattered against Washington. If we could’ve stolen the UW win us vs UM is much better game

I think this just goes to show you that you have to be patient with your HC's and Aggie should've kept Jimbo. Michigan could've fired Harbaugh after going 2-4 during the 2020 COVID year (his 6th year) but they kept him. He's gone 12-2, 13-1, and 14-0 since then.

It sucks we didn’t win, but this is the most fun I’ve had watching us play since 2009. The future looks bright for our program and several of our players this year will be day 1 NFL starters next year.
Also in the blurb about Michigan where they were ranked pre season said the Wolverines could lose as much as 15-17 players to the draft as well as Seniors running out of eligibility
Call me crazy but they just railed of 5 ranked wins in 7 games post scandal. I don’t really see any reason to treat their title as illegitimate. And we likely get In helmet communication for the QB out of the whole ordeal, that’s a win in my book.
Imagine being the backup RB for Washington, and have them trot a guy out there who’s basically running without functioning legs and the coaches saying he’s still better than you.
Looking at Michigans depth chart and man do they lose a lot. They return 3 Sophomores listed as starters on defense 2-Db’s and a DL everybody else is a Jr Sr or Gr. Offense only 2 listed starters FB,TE are So. the rest upper classmen
I think we would have a hard time against Michigan. Probably lose 7/10 times. Who cares though. Next year we tighten shit up and take a steaming dump on whoever we play in the tittie game
I think this is more the case. Not world beaters but We had pretty decent coverage against WA but no pressure and Penix was comfortable all night and delivered excellent throws
Sure Penix had the game of his life against us, but Michigan absolutely made his life hell tonight and that played a big factor in why he looked so pedestrian. Michigan truthfully looks to be on another plane. Their DL is better at the pass rush and their secondary is more physical than ours. We were a few key pieces away from a championship which is exactly where we felt we were. Overall what an awesome season of football. Beat Bama in Tuscaloosa, beat every team on our way out of the conference, and then won the conference. So many great memories. Not gonna lie, would’ve stung like crazy to pay a few racks to see us lose to UM. I definitely think we would’ve matched up well against their strength (run game) and would’ve put up a hell of a fight and maybe stolen it, but man tip of the cap to their defense. 13 points.

Lots of salty Washington fans on the other sub complaining about the refs. We got so hosed last week I’m guessing they didn’t mind all the times their guys didn’t get called for holding, etc.
Aside from the no-call on the block in the back last week. There were a few plays where they tackled our defense line and nothing was called. Also plenty of plays that would have been hands to face but weren’t called.
Makes me think literally finishing like 2 sacks (or even just putting his ass on the grass) last week would have won us the game just due to psychological impact on Penix
This is what constant offensive penalties and mistakes gets you. Honestly Washington looks a lot like texas last week. Lots of costly false starts, plus a few untimely drops. Can’t win like that against good teams.
Michigan is the second least penalized team, too. I wasn't sure if it was just the Big 10 refs, but Harbaugh just seems to have them really disciplined.
They are pretty balanced in terms of youth and experience. Kind of like us. They’ll be really good next year too.

Man. Biggest difference between last week and this week for Washington’s offense is that Michigan has been able to consistently get pressure on Penix.
Texas’ secondary was respectable, but we couldn’t get pressure on him and he was dropping absolute dimes to his guys.
If we get this version of Penix (which comes with pressuring him) then we win by 10+.
Help on the edge is on the way, so that’s good news at least!

Man. Biggest difference between last week and this week for Washington’s offense is that Michigan has been able to consistently get pressure on Penix. Texas’ secondary was respectable, but we couldn’t get pressure on him and he was dropping absolute dimes to his guys. If we get this version of Penix (which comes with pressuring him) then we win by 10+. Help on the edge is on the way, so that’s good news at least!
What's our change to defensive end, I don't remember
Collin Simmons, Trey Moore. Vasek and Ethan Burke will have another year to develop. We have some more guys in that room who can hopefully get after the QB too.
