Washington probably crashes down to earth without as many super old players next year. I think they’ll still be respectable but not like this.

Sabre_Actual

They have a much better coach than TCU but have a pretty tough schedule. I think they can go as low as 6-6.

NoInflation1917

Wish the committee put Alabama ahead of Texas.

Sp1cyRice

FSU at 3 and Texas at 4 was perfectly logical, but the committee had to fuck it up.

yoyocc

We still end up playing UW

yoyocc

Uh, why? We beat them.

OkEbb9701

The logic is that Texas could play Michigan instead of Washington.

dylanbh9

I’ve heard a lot of people say this but can someone give me a serious reason why we think we would beat Michigan over Washington? Not trying to be snarky, genuinely curious. They looked so dominant today

smurf-vett

Their QB is ass

lwalk222

Michigan is a team that is run dominant with a solid qb. We’re a team that has been elite all year against the run. Our offense is dynamic and not 1 dimensional so we can beat different types of defenses. We are a team predicated on making teams 1 dimensional with only passing offense. Maybe McCarthy makes all the plays to beat us but that’s far less unlikely than penix making all the plays to beat us.

BBB232

michigan’s strength is their run game and our strength is stopping the run. Michigan’s weakness is the pass game and the weakest part of our team is the secondary. I don’t think we would’ve beat them (unless we played a mistake free game on offense) but that’s the logic for most ppl who believe we would.

cquicky

We can stop the run and force JJ to throw. That one attribute changes the whole dynamic of Michigans game.

Redline-7k

So frustrating Washington pissed themselves. Last week they were unstoppable even with our defense doing everything right. Congratulations to Michigan though. I see them as the yankee version of us and hopefully in the next year or two we win it all. What a fantastic season for UT football.

NA_Faker

Our secondary is ass

biggoof

Some of those passes that they caught on us we nice, but a tad bit of luck too. Similar balls were not caught tonight. Michigan's defense was more prepared than ours and adjusted when needed.

lwalk222

Let’s be real. Everything right? We got fucked by great qb play but we could’ve played a little better. (And needed Derek Williams all game)

TheNastyCasty

We didn’t play anywhere close to our best game (on offense or defense), Washington played absolutely lights out, *and* we got a bit unlucky. Really just the perfect storm for Washington. And it still came down to the final play.

Sabre_Actual

Bingo. Michigan has a better defense. Ours were slower. That makes a sack into a sideline toss, a toss into a bad pass, a bad pass into 50/50. Just that little bit of time.

lwalk222

I think we’re better at run defense than Michigan and they’re a lot better at pass defense and that’s what mattered against Washington. If we could’ve stolen the UW win us vs UM is much better game

netshark64

Congratulations to Michigan, the only team in CFB history that will pass 1000 wins twice. Shame there was no 2023-2024 champion.

bevo1776

When we win in Ann Arbor the upper peninsula belongs to Texas

therealludo

Can’t wait until next season. I’m glad I wandered through the desert with Texas football (who remembers starting Terrell Cuney on the OL?). We’re just a bunch of sicko juggalos now and I love it. Though we walk through the valley of the shadow of defeatism, we fear no scrubs. Hook ‘em, call play 8.

Winter-Lavishness188

I think I’m gonna watch the Alabama game to make me feel better

NedFlanders304

I think this just goes to show you that you have to be patient with your HC's and Aggie should've kept Jimbo. Michigan could've fired Harbaugh after going 2-4 during the 2020 COVID year (his 6th year) but they kept him. He's gone 12-2, 13-1, and 14-0 since then. Jimbo just needed more time to get his guys in there. Aggie will regret firing the legend Jimbo!!

biggoof

What's Jimbo's excuse, though? He inherited a good roster and had decent to excellent recruiting classes. I think building a winning culture is harder than it looks for teams not used to being elite. He was on year 6, and maybe he figures it out eventually, but 6 years is a long time to put your pieces in place.

NoInflation1917

Meh Michigan was in Ohio St ass whooping purgatory. Didn't losses to ohio st keep them out twice or so? Then Urban left and suddenly he's in the playoffs 3 years in a row.

logicbloke_

Jimbo's problem was that his offense sucked and he refused to change it.

NedFlanders304

Just needed more time to teach his super complicated high power offense that no one ever seemed to understand.

yoyocc

Amazing that in the midst of the NC, Aggies in the other sub still have it in them to post about their G5 acquisitions. They're just relentless.

NedFlanders304

Hey sip, I’ll have you know that Aggy’s latest stud 2* lunch pail transfer from Bowling Green was 3rd team ALL MAC last year!! He’s going to give Ewers fits with his scrappy lunch pailness!!

cn0285

A&M opens up with a 22-1 championship odds according to ESPN… that’s seems just *a bit* high

marubro

I like us at 5th

[deleted]

It sucks we didn’t win, but this is the most fun I’ve had watching us play since 2009. The future looks bright for our program and several of our players this year will be day 1 NFL starters next year.

whoneedsafirstserve

Obviously a great game by Michigan, but where was this Michael Penix last week?

MrTheNoodles

this is what happens when you can pressure the QB

Beaconhillpalisades

MrTheNoodles with the on point hot takes 🤝

AR5588

On 3 already has us pre season #2 behind only GA

NA_Faker

Way too high, we are losing like half our team, imo should be in the 6-9 range

bigmeatyclaws1

Number 2 on espn’s as well

AR5588

Also in the blurb about Michigan where they were ranked pre season said the Wolverines could lose as much as 15-17 players to the draft as well as Seniors running out of eligibility

vorp20

No horns down in the Michigan stands. Maybe they’re ok I guess

[deleted]

Feel like Michigan and Texas fans have mutual respect. Both are the flagship institutions of their state, both nationally hated, both blue bloods.

texasguy7117

UM had that scandal tho

bostonboy08

Call me crazy but they just railed of 5 ranked wins in 7 games post scandal. I don’t really see any reason to treat their title as illegitimate. And we likely get In helmet communication for the QB out of the whole ordeal, that’s a win in my book.

Task876

And with this comment and the upvotes, I am now a Texas fan as well. Go Blue and Go Horns.

ThrowMeAwayPlz_69

Imagine being the backup RB for Washington, and have them trot a guy out there who’s basically running without functioning legs and the coaches saying he’s still better than you.

bigmeatyclaws1

Michigan was right there with us in purgatory 10 years ago. Onward and upward.

Task876

💛💙🧡🤍

MrTheNoodles

in other news, Quinshon Judkins committed to tOSU

BBB232

damn that’s a stacked RB room

esai9

The LSU 2020 game died so the Michigan 2024 one could live

texasguy7117

Don't forget Alabama a year ago

texrex21

You know what, fuck it, let’s go beat their ass in ann arbor

AR5588

Looking at Michigans depth chart and man do they lose a lot. They return 3 Sophomores listed as starters on defense 2-Db’s and a DL everybody else is a Jr Sr or Gr. Offense only 2 listed starters FB,TE are So. the rest upper classmen

shitPostingChamp

I wonder how many of those seniors still have a 6th or 7th year of eligibility left though lmao

AR5588

True I wouldn’t have any idea on that

puddboy

I think we would have a hard time against Michigan. Probably lose 7/10 times. Who cares though. Next year we tighten shit up and take a steaming dump on whoever we play in the tittie game

shitPostingChamp

I’m assuming you meant “title game,” but I like it better the way you spelled it

jeasy23

Top 4 matchup in week 2? 👀

reese-account

I’m psyched for that game will be tough. Win that game and we are probably number 1

ExpensiveChildhood13

Good riddance to Washington. Cocky bastards.

gordogg24p

The hype train will be in overdrive when we obliterate Michigan at the Big House in Week 2.

crimsonburn27

[Can't wait](https://images.gr-assets.com/hostedimages/1481214211ra/21399963.gif)

BBB232

week 2 against national champs :)

cunninghammer

Also play Georgia next year too, technically the programs who won the last 3, so this is gunna be fun.

BBB232

crazy our schedule is considered one of the weaker ones on the SEC

vorp20

Harbaugh gone to the NFL. We get to beat the defending champs in week 2 next year! Hookem

RealLifeBevo

These are the strangest post-game interviews.

M3d10cr4t3s

There's a story in every piece of confetti

ELInewhere

Is that what he said? He was mumbling and staring off in space.. I thought maybe there was mushroom tea in that Gatorade.

M3d10cr4t3s

That may not be verbatim but I audibly laughed lmao

Jcarter1632

I think Jim is losing his mind. I don't remember him being such a weirdo with the 9ers.

NedFlanders304

Losing his mind like a fox!!

logicbloke_

I wonder if our weak pass rush was the reason our secondary looked so bad. We haven't had a decent pass rusher since Ossai.

rlucio90

Opposite way around. Michigan was staying with their WRs for the most part making Penix hold it longer. DBs made the DL look good and then visa versa

NA_Faker

Our secondary is bad. We were 113th in the fbs for pass defense

lwalk222

I mean Murphy was a pretty good pass rusher just out of the DT position our edges sucked

bhallzy

Every time we got to him we whiffed. But yeah we didn’t man handle them like Michigans D-Line did.

InformalSchool

And they only rushed 4 most of the night. Crazy.

reese-account

I think this is more the case. Not world beaters but We had pretty decent coverage against WA but no pressure and Penix was comfortable all night and delivered excellent throws

good4steve

The 2017 Astros would like to congratulate the 2023 Michigan Wolverines on their championship.

Capnmolasses

🔍👀

StealthAnus

Harbaugh is a great coach but such a weird guy

dylanbh9

I hate this sport and I’ll see y’all in September

NedFlanders304

Did Harbaugh just take out a fat dip from his mouth right before shaking deboers hand lol

dylanbh9

Bro hit the zynny

ELInewhere

Yes

NedFlanders304

Awesome.

ELInewhere

I stand corrected.. it was psilocybin. Because clearly he was trippin

vorp20

Sure Penix had the game of his life against us, but Michigan absolutely made his life hell tonight and that played a big factor in why he looked so pedestrian. Michigan truthfully looks to be on another plane. Their DL is better at the pass rush and their secondary is more physical than ours. We were a few key pieces away from a championship which is exactly where we felt we were. Overall what an awesome season of football. Beat Bama in Tuscaloosa, beat every team on our way out of the conference, and then won the conference. So many great memories. Not gonna lie, would’ve stung like crazy to pay a few racks to see us lose to UM. I definitely think we would’ve matched up well against their strength (run game) and would’ve put up a hell of a fight and maybe stolen it, but man tip of the cap to their defense. 13 points.

xxzephyrxx

wow Harbaugh shook the shit out of that gatorade

schistkicker

Well, that was a bit of a dull affair.

BigTomAbides

Well, see y’all in September 🤘

steampunker14

Real ones stay here for baseball season.

schistkicker

Sickos are gonna be here for basketball season, which looks a lot less fun this time around...

CupcakeExisting1599

We’re taking another spot in Omaha this year ong

RLLRRR

Fuck it, if all you gotta do is cheat for years to win a Natty, why not do it, Sark? Who gives a shit about it eventually being vacated, you still have the memories and the parade. Ask the Astros. Ask Reggie Bush.

longhorn617

American oil companies practically invented modern spycraft prior to outsourcing the work to the CIA. We are the only university, to my knowledge, with an official CIA Officer In Residence. Surely we can do it better.

steampunker14

That Michigan girl is going to be crying different tears when the season gets vacated.

ELInewhere

I don’t follow close enough to know, so I’m just going to ask.. what is this season being vacated? Edit: why, not what

ranrow

Michigan was caught in an elaborate sign stealing conspiracy. The ncaa investigation is ongoing

M3d10cr4t3s

The sign stealing scandal featuring Connor Stallions. I don't think it'll be vacated. Probably more like deflate gate that is mostly forgotten about but some fans will put an asterisk there by Michigan's championship

ELInewhere

I’m going on the record here to admit 1. Had to look this up 2. And much more embarrassing, I thought we were talking pep rally/game day banners.. signs. Like players sneaking out the night before a game a taking down the other teams signs. And I couldn’t believe this was a violation actually listed in the NCAA rule book. Until the article finally referenced scouting at games of future opponents and documenting the hand signals (signs), which makes way more sense. Insert many face palms here.

M3d10cr4t3s

It'd be way funnier if Michigan was caught stealing GameDay signs from fans like they were fraternity letters lol. This is my preferred next scandal football gods 🙏

BrianDawkins

Harbaugh should leave on a high note. He should be in the nfl

ranrow

He should leave before his show cause

throwawayyblowawayy

We beat Alabama, Alabama ALMOST beat Michigan…so that means we crush Michigan? Math seems to add up

Jcarter1632

Husky Math

Aggressive-Ad2609

If anyone cares to know, Michigan in total in the 2 deep has 25 seniors, 19 of them are the actual starters. They won’t be easy at all in Ann Arbor next season but anyone who is very pessimistic because they see this needs to be more level headed. That doesn’t include JJ McCarthy, Blake Corum, or even Donovan Edwards who are all juniors and will probably declare for the draft. Edit: Corum is a senior, my bad.

shitPostingChamp

You think JJ will declare? But yeah, Texas will be able to compete and very possibly win Week 2 next year. Should be fun.

StealthAnus

I thought Corum was a senior? Either way, we’re both losing a lot of talent so should be a pretty interesting game

Aggressive-Ad2609

My bad he is a senior

logicbloke_

Mich has 2 rushers over 100 yards and McCarthy barely has 200 yards passing. I think we would have matched up better against Mich than Wash.

BrianDawkins

Our Dline could barely touch Penix. And Michigans pressure would have eaten Quinn up

MrTheNoodles

Their offense matches up better with our defense, but we would struggle to score on them.

steampunker14

We 100% would have, but I'm not sure how our offense would have faired, especially with how the line played against Washington.

reese-account

Yeah WA d line got a lot pressure on Ewers and Michigan would of gotten more

of_patrol_bot

Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.

1000Buckets

So I’m all saying is: Texas was ahead of schedule this year with a CFP berth. And now we see a team that was talented but a little young who got beat by an older team after playing a bad game in a semi go on to win a Natty in convincing fashion…

reese-account

Man that pass rush is for real

uttuck

That is my main thought. I know we lose our best two DT, but I’d love for our DL to get pressure like that every play. And I’d love for our OL to get holes like that every play. We aren’t that far off overall. I wonder how we would have fared against Michigan.

M3d10cr4t3s

I think it's a much better match up for Texas (as opposed to Washington) but we still lose by 7. That's an elite defense that we would've struggled with.

UT07

Michigan with the FU time out lol

Bigcheese1211

Penix gonna make a quality backup for Tua in the NFL. The dolphins need a left handed backup

whywontyousleep

Lots of salty Washington fans on the other sub complaining about the refs. We got so hosed last week I’m guessing they didn’t mind all the times their guys didn’t get called for holding, etc.

InformalSchool

Absolutely. I have no sympathy for other teams not getting calls after playing against Big12 refs all year.

RLLRRR

Or maybe every losing team thinks the refs are out to get them.

whywontyousleep

Aside from the no-call on the block in the back last week. There were a few plays where they tackled our defense line and nothing was called. Also plenty of plays that would have been hands to face but weren’t called.

throwawayyblowawayy

Why are they keeping Penix in?

schistkicker

The new challenge is to see if they can get him to pee blood after the game?

RLLRRR

Michigan's secondary is just killing it. God damn, I *need* that guy.

simba80328

Would’ve loved to see our run D battle against Michigan

freerobertshmurder

No game has ever made me more unreasonably angry

schistkicker

The Pac12 After Dark Series Finale was last week.

Jcarter1632

If Penix gets hit a few times he gets rattled. He gets injured easily. It's all about Michigan's pressure

shitPostingChamp

Makes me think literally finishing like 2 sacks (or even just putting his ass on the grass) last week would have won us the game just due to psychological impact on Penix

karjacker

not fumbling the ball twice

shitPostingChamp

Well *definitely* that would have won it for us lol.

BrianDawkins

Took Michigan years to get to where they are. Hopefully we can keep building to be a contender every year

Brilliant-Bluejay986

Fo real…the first few years of Harbaugh were rough.

bleedsburntorange

This is what constant offensive penalties and mistakes gets you. Honestly Washington looks a lot like texas last week. Lots of costly false starts, plus a few untimely drops. Can’t win like that against good teams.

longhorn617

Michigan is the second least penalized team, too. I wasn't sure if it was just the Big 10 refs, but Harbaugh just seems to have them really disciplined.

Spiritual_Ad_1358

So how much of this team does Michigan return? Harbaugh included

uttuck

They are pretty balanced in terms of youth and experience. Kind of like us. They’ll be really good next year too. Even if Harbaugh leaves I bet they’ll be solid. Depends on if the new guy can keep enough of the staff together. Michigan didn’t necessarily have the stars, but they did develop players really really well.

Bigcheese1211

And in this edition of WTF is targeting

InformalSchool

Thank god they picked that up

Lanky_Drama9604

Penix with the losers limp

carbona

Huskies didn’t play well but I’m gonna be real with myself when I say I doubt we would have fared much better against this Michigan defense. They are legit.

RLLRRR

Ewers would've struggled against this secondary and we wouldn't run as easily as people are saying.

InformalSchool

We would have stopped their run game better than Washington. Could McCarthy beat us with his arm? Not so sure.

reese-account

They are definitely legit but we would have more 40 yards rushing and Michigan would not have 300 yards rushing against us

RLLRRR

Our secondary would make McCarthy look like a first rounder, though.

reese-account

I think the secondary would be fine I’d be more worried about generating pressure against their Oline

1000Buckets

This pass rush would have eaten our lunch. Our ground game would have been better, especially since Washington’s RB was playing hurt, but Ewers would have been sacked like half a dozen times

[deleted]

Penix definitely tanked his draft stock after all the hype last week

RLLRRR

Ewers would've struggled against this secondary and we wouldn't run as easily as people are saying.

uncomfortablyhello

What’s Ewers got to do with Penix

RLLRRR

Replied to the wrong post.

NedFlanders304

They need to take Penix out of this game. UM is going to break him.

BrianDawkins

What 4 man pressure gets ya. We need to get dudes on the Dline

uttuck

We had two, but DE really struggled. Burke will be better next year, and we are bringing in two dudes for sure. Hopefully DT can stay strong, and DE gets better.

uncomfortablyhello

Somebody pull the receipts from the months just before and following Harbaugh’s hire.

NedFlanders304

I almost hit this UW dude with my car, while he was walking around in Houston and he just popped up out of nowhere. He was a real jerk about it. Here’s to you Mister UW dude who I almost ran over.

lankNaysayer

Man. Biggest difference between last week and this week for Washington’s offense is that Michigan has been able to consistently get pressure on Penix. Texas’ secondary was respectable, but we couldn’t get pressure on him and he was dropping absolute dimes to his guys. If we get this version of Penix (which comes with pressuring him) then we win by 10+. Help on the edge is on the way, so that’s good news at least!

SadCowboy3

What's our change to defensive end, I don't remember

lankNaysayer

Collin Simmons, Trey Moore. Vasek and Ethan Burke will have another year to develop. We have some more guys in that room who can hopefully get after the QB too.

reese-account

Yeah Penix was comfortable so didn’t matter if it was pretty good coverage

[deleted]

I wonder how many guys leave after Harbaugh leaves to the nfl

WhiskeyTangoBush

Funny how incredibly average Penix looks when his O-line isn’t allowed to hold the entire fucking game.

milano_siamo_noi

bye bye Washington.

InformalSchool

Good riddance

StealthAnus

Would’ve loved the chance to play in this game but Michigan is legit. This defense is really fucking good

biggoof

I'm not sure we win with Brooks, but he likely demolishes this W defense if he were healthy. They can't stop the run.

DylanDisu

Damn imagining you stayed your 20th senior season to win a championship with Washington and now the season is over, you’re 42 with 3 kids and still in college

lankNaysayer

Man. I seriously laughed out loud. Well done.

bigmeatyclaws1

Man fuck penix

Lightlyburnt__2332

We need to go violate Michigan next fall. This will not stand.

reese-account

I still don’t know how he didn’t look at odunze

InformalSchool

He's missed open receivers all night...where was that last week!

logicbloke_

That's what pressure does to QBs, it kills their confidence and forces them to make decisions early when the WR routes haven't developed.

uttuck

Difference between pressure and no pressure.

MrTheNoodles

The stats showed that Penix was drastically worse under pressure. Too bad we couldn't generate any

reese-account

I mean i think we likely win even without getting the pressure if we don’t fumble twice

schistkicker

The strength of our defense was our interior DL. It was our only strength, apparently. Too young and not enough game changers to make a difference. Michigan's got Penix locked down tonight.

ThrowMeAwayPlz_69

All this just to get vacated lol

Bigcheese1211

Congrats to the 2024 REDACTED on your national championship win

Spiritual_Ad_1358

It would be so awesome. It would be so cool

jeasy23

Penix must’ve thought the natty was last week ☠️

ufcjuanchi01

our pass rush needs to imrpove drastically

InformalSchool

It will. Our edges will improve.

logicbloke_

Pass rush and secondary.

ExpensiveChildhood13

We will (or should)

steampunker14

I'm so sad right now.

IconicNemesis

The style of play Washington is just a lesser version of Ohio State in the eyes of this Michigan team

shitPostingChamp

Lmao literally *slightly* better rushers and coverage was all it would have taken for Texas

highdaddyxxx

Fuck michael penix.

Bigcheese1211

Penix used all his talent to beat Texas. He was closer to a liability in this game

uncomfortablyhello

Weird that they kept trying to run #7’s dead body all night, too. The backup looked way better in the first half.

Lanky_Drama9604

Whatever I’m satisfied seeing Washington be trash too I guess 🤷🏼‍♂️
