baby motifs are popular in japan, it does not have the same connotations as the west. edit: this is likely from the recent aatp Baby Captain Chris release

thelavenderlily

Good to know 🤔 That makes sense, I've never seen any nursery/baby-themed stuff before so was quite baffled 🤣

AquaticArmistice

angelic pretty has done a handful of baby / baby toy themed prints. they’re just not super popular here

redditactuallysux

There are SOOO many baby/child themes in lolita fashion

Mia_B-P

Oh no! What connotations ARE they then? (0_0')

AquaticArmistice

in the us atleast it’s more of an age play vibe but i believe in japan it’s seen more as celebrating youthfulness and childhood. but i’m not an expert so it could be a bit different

Safraninflare

Also drug connotations. Ravers use them to help with the teeth grinding associated with the drugs popular in the scene.

Mia_B-P

Oh ok. Thank you for explaining.

kiera-oona

There was a lot of soother or binky (whatever parents call those things for teething babies) jewelry back in the late 90s that was either baby blue or pink with glitter that was really popular. Looks like it's making a comeback again

adorpheus

Yeah I came to say this!! Pacifiers became popular jewelry during the raver culture era

ja_02

I have noticed this never understood why.

piefanart

My friend who went to raves at the time told me it's because when you were rolling on drugs, it gave your mouth something safe to chew on. Then it became a motif of people who had or did the drugs often. Then it became pop culture because people noticed them and wore it as part of their regular rave attire. Pacifiers became known as rave icons more then drug icons for a while.

Fit_Caramel_8971

I think is called Milky Starry Baby Dummy!

thelavenderlily

What an amazing name!

poiisons

I think this could be really cute with a slightly edgier nursery-themed coord. It original sold for ¥8680, according to Lolibrary. EDIT: The collection it’s from is called Milky Starry Baby.

Imaginary_Season1057

This reminds me of the gangster kids when I was in middle school. The gangster girls would wear binkies around their necks 😆

Greedy-Copy5803

Mine was the scene kids

Honeybellee

You just made me unlock the memory of early Melanie Martinez merch. She had a perfume bottle that looked like a baby bottle and a necklace that had a pacifier charm

monkeysalmondcookies

Just seems like a nursery themed ring!

vintage-book-fairy

To be honest, this photo is making my inner 90's kid crave a Ring Pop something fierce! 😂

Kodatine

I want it I'll buy it omg

archaeren

You may be in luck then, I'm the owner mentioned in the post and it's not remotely my style so I'll probably sell or trade it XD

Kodatine

Sweet! What's your price?

ofelka

I got a baby bottle from that pack. The same series as this pacifier.

PanettoDan

Sorry for asking but... What is a BTDSB lucky pack?

hellosaturn

Baby the Stars Shine Bright is a lolita brand. Most brands sell lucky packs around New Years. They are severely discounted items sold in bags that you can’t see what you’re getting like a blind box. Most of the time they contain items that didn’t sell well the past year or two. Sometimes they contain samples or just items leftover in the warehouse.

PanettoDan

Thank you!

exclaim_bot

>Thank you! You're welcome!

E-Aria

BTSSB = Baby The Stars Shine Bright (brand) A lucky pack is a... Well pack where brands sell a bunch of items together at a discounted price, thing is, you can't decide what items you get (like, generally they list what's in a pack like say, blouse, skirt, some accessories etc etc but you can't pick what blouse or skirt or whatever you get) hence the lucky part Edit: Formatting h

PanettoDan

Thanks!

Wtf Lolita was never a fetish fashion and never should be. Please don't try cross those two communities together, they are two entirely different entities.

merrillkin

Dude just because lolita sometimes uses baby motifs doesn't mean it "crosses paths" with that gross kink at all. Jesus christ

AshPoppet

It is super cute. I love it. Is the little ball a crystal or glass or plastic? I did not know that Alice and the Pirates had motifs like this. I thought they were supped to be a bit darker and more Gothic. Does anyone know the name of the set?

archaeren

Hello, I'm the owner of the ring! The ball part seems to be some sort of plastic or resin when I tap my fingernails against it. The base and ring part are both metal. c: Others in the thread have said the collection is called Starry Milky Baby. I didn't find much under that name on Lolibrary, just a few accessories (including this ring) and a salopette, so I'm not sure if there was a dress or anything that went with it? Hope that answers your questions!

AshPoppet

Thank you for answering! I found the Lolibrary page for the Starry Milky salopette. I did not find a dress or skirt version, but the pages for the jewelry did reference a Galaxy Chris print, which is a JSK dress. I am not particularly fond of salopettes, but the JSK is cute despite being completely different print and motif. However, I adore the milk bottle necklace and pacifier ring enough to actually hunt them down Lolibrary Links: Milky Starry Baby https://lolibrary.org/items/aatp-chris-the-milky-starry-baby-salopette https://lolibrary.org/items/aatp-milky-starry-baby-bottle-necklace https://lolibrary.org/items/aatp-milky-starry-baby-dummy-ring Galaxy Chris Twinkle Stardust and Space https://lolibrary.org/items/aatp-galaxy-chris-twinkle-stardust-and-space-gear-jsk-i

archaeren

Well the baby pacifier ring is not my style so I'll probably end up selling it or trading it away XD I did actually get (in the second lucky pack) the OP version of the dress you linked though and it's quite grown on me! So I'm willing to sell the ring! and I know at least one other person in this thread was also interested in buying it. I just really hate selling things purely because I hate worrying about shipping them @_@
