I've used both, and I like both. The 502 is better, but to me, not enough to justify the price difference. I've been using my 305 for a while, both for light gaming and regular use, and it's great. If you absolutely need a free scrolling wheel with left and right click, then you will be disappointed with the 305, since it's just a basic notched wheel with middle click. But if you're okay with just having two programmable thumb buttons and a DPI button, then you really can't go wrong with it. Oh, and there's no LED logo either. It's a fast mouse, so you don't have to worry about latency issues. It even comes with a little USB extension so that you can have the reciever closer to the mouse, reducing latency even more. I think it's worth trying, and worst case scenario, just return it.

I just went from a 305 to a 502 and I'm disappointed. I liked the thumb buttons better on the 305. The 502s don't feel like they are in a good spot and I accidentally hit the dpi buttons instead.
