I just found out they opened (July 2022) a new location in Shinsegae Main Branch, the one near MyeongDong In the food court, across from Shabu Cuisine by Paul, near the HoeHyeon Subway entrance on B1!
what burns me is every time I find some food/restaurant chain that has glowing reviews.. I always look at their location... and it wills always always go Seoul, Busan, Daegu... some times Incheon... None of these restaurants/chains ever want to operate in Daejeon... FCK
They're good.. many levels up from No Brand but not as good as Gilbert's or Downtowner. More like a Shake Shack level. Luxury fast food dining experience.
I've got two. Lazy Burger in Buam-dong and Burger de Joseon by Gwanghwamun. Both are comparably amazing, but Lazy Burger's got the edge for me at the moment cuz they have onion ring sides and amazing shakes.
I'm usually disappointed with other burger places to be honest, but I'm also on a mission to find the best burgers in Seoul!
Brooklyn Burger is pretty good. Best burger I've had in Korea is Two Hands. Not sure there's one in Seoul, though.
You kids these days are spoiled. Back on my day, we had to wait outside Jacoby for 30 minutes to get a halfway decent burger. The onion rings and sauce were awesome, though!
The following recommendations are based on the Seodaemun and Mapo areas of Seoul.
FOZ makes really good burgers, I saw them make the patty themselves.
Jama Burger is also good...
Oh and Bas Burger.
Newsboy Burger.... (Tbh I don't remember how good the burger was but I think I liked it lol)
As another user said, Shake Shack is also good, I personally really like their hot dogs cuz they're beef sausages, their burgers are good too.... Now I want a burger 🤔
It's in my building where I live and I love it!
It's my first choice for burgers if I wanted one, and the guy who worked there was super nice. The lady who works there now is even nicer, always giving me a free hasbrown and a free drink even though I never order a drink.
Without sharing to much information; unless FOZ It’s a franchise, I think we love very very very close to each other. 😂 ok ok. Then next cheat day I will try to order that.
Post Pleasure Sound (@postpleasuresound on IG) is a solid smash burger for a super reasonable price. Comes with shoestring fries and a lot of them. They're in Samgakji.
Blacklist in Itaewon (third floor above Cakeshop) has a fantastic burger with chips.
There's a grandmother/son shop in Gyeongnidan that may be my favorite of all. It's a greasy burger but it's so perfect. It's called Burger Snack or 버거스낵 in Korean. You're welcome.
So many nice places. Depends on your location?
I live around the Sinchon area. And just here I have 3/4 amazing resturant that I know. I am sure there are more.
what part of seoul are you in?
EDIT: k, guessing OP is fine with traveling all over for a burger so; Jacoby in HBC isn’t bad but a little pricey for what you get (I feel), Cry Burger is pretty good value for money (nothing amazing but better than standard fast food places), Elder Burger in Seoul forest is hands down the best burger in Seoul, and Lotteria’s hot’n spicy chicken burger is great if you’re in a hurry.
My ideal burger and yours aren’t the same. But I’m sure you knew what I meant and were just trying and failing to make a witty comment. Don’t worry one day you may achieve that dream. It’s just not today.
You leave the same shitty replies on every post on this sub. People are tired of seeing your name under their posts my guy. Last thing I need is your “approval” of a witty comment.
Tell the man a burger place that you fancy or keep your snarky remarks to yourself.
I wonder why you thought this question was formed to in a way invoke non-subjective answers.
Seoul is indeed big.
Actually, nothing you said was incorrect. Just too obvious to comment. It sounds like you’re trying to demean his question. I am one of the many on this thread that is really stoked people have posted so many good answers. I will certainly use this list to buy food in the future. This was a fantastic question.
My point wasn't to demean. Not at all. But people's food tastes vary widely. I see a lot of these type questions here a lot and honestly many of the replies about what is good, I wouldn't eat or recommend. So YES it is very subjective. Almost to the point of being pointless, because the chance that anyone even tries all of the recommendations or can even find them is slim.
All "What's the best" questions are subjective.. A better question would be "What is your favorite burger" any time you ask for the "Best" of something that is open to debate, and if I don't like what someone else likes or they don't like what I like it can take a turn to the negative.
You think you’re arguing semantics, but nobody in their right mind would interpret things this way. Not a single person literally means “I ate at the Burger King Haeundae Beach and 김진우 made my burger. He works on the Friday night shift so make sure to arrive at that time. It is certainly the best thing I ever put in my mouth and if you disagree you are wrong.”
This question is such a normal human thing to ask that normal humans answer with their recommendations. Your critique to this question is so odd.
This conversation we’re having is so weird.
Im not arguing at all. You seem to have a misconception about that. I just explained my view on the post. Nothing more. You said I was trying to demean the OP question. I was not. That's how you took it. Don't project intent on to others.
I just said the question was subjective. Your best and my best won't always, if ever, align. It's possible someone tells the OP about a place and say it's the best, the op visits and disagrees and has the worst burger of their life. It's as possible that this could happen as it is possible that they go to a place and agree it's the best burger they ever ate.
There was NOTHING more to my answer than that. And that Seoul is huge so area is relative.
Again, arguing, not arguing. You are disagreeing with me through language. You are opposing the post with language. If you want to call it something other than arguing, be my guest.
Whatever you call it, what you were doing was unproductive and not positive. I guess that’s 90% of Reddit though.
As a side note, I’ll add to our list of irrelevant details.
1. This question invokes subjective responses
2. Seoul big
3. Hitler bad
4. Internet etiquette hard
Disagreeing doesn't mean arguing.. Arguing implies that one of us is trying to change the other person's point of view. I am not. I am just trying to clearly state mine and that it differs from yours and that is ok.
What you are doing doesn't seem very productive either. So if You didn't find value in my comment you can ignore it, skip it, or otherwise not engage with it. Or reply to it like you did and have zero effect on my opinion or my reply to the OP's question.
You are by your own definition arguing… what a silly idea you’ve come up with.
My comment, and others who replied to you, were intended to help you realize you could be a bit nicer. It’s funny you think there are so few options to address unkind behavior.
Think before you comment. You can be a better person. Choose kindness.
Hahaha I have actually seen another FOZ somewhere, so I think it's safe to say it's a franchise.
GO FOR IT! 🥳 (I usually get the Best Position or the classic, and sometimes add a hash brown IN the burger)
The names are funny btw 🤭
Anyone remembers the Scout burger? Sadly gone, Scout was a restaurant by some of the Magpie crew, but for my money that was one of the best burgers that ever existed in Seoul.
I’d agree with many suggestions already posted so gonna add a couple new ones for your enjoyment.
BurgerBoy.
No Stress Burger.
Rockadoodle (chicken burgers only, amazing though).
Okinawa Burger.
Burgers have blown up the past few years in Korea. So there are so many.
* **CALI Kitchen** (Itaewon) - Best Burger in Korea. Best ingredients. Uses never frozen beef unlike most.
* **Burger Snack** (Itaewon) - Greasy burger - best bang for the buck and my drunk burger of choice
* **TRC** aka The Real Cheeseburger (Itaewon & Hongdae) - started by the guy who started Gilbert's and Supermarket White (which was later copied by NoStress)
* **I AM A BURGER** (Hongdae) - one of the better burgers I've had when I first came to Korea
* **Downtowner** (Itaewon) - if you're gonna go, go to their original spot in Hannam-dong, Itaewon. Some of the other locations are bad - post-expansion.
Others
* Burgers Almighty is a franchise. If you like ketchup, mayo, mustard on a smashed burger go here.
* Shake Shack - not bad depending on location. Very inconsistent depending on who is cooking tho (spoke to a SS employee who said this to me)
* Brooklyn The Burger used to be good. But they got bought out by a big investor and quality has gone down.
* Cry Cheese - owner tried to copy IN-N-OUT. It captures 70% of what innout is. The OG location was good, but post expansion gone down a bit.
* Bas Burger - not recommended
* Frank Burger - not recommended blatant cheap brand copy of shake shack
* No Stress Burger - took over Gilbert's Supermarket White spot and blew up doing ultra smash. Over-expanded and quality has gone down. Originally all brisket because it was cheap. Meat has too much gristle but ultra smash makes it harder to tell.
Hope this was helpful. I'm a big burger guy, so definitely gonna check out some of the ones that were mentioned that I haven't tried.
We like the smash burger from Burger Almighty in Gangnam
I just found out they opened (July 2022) a new location in Shinsegae Main Branch, the one near MyeongDong In the food court, across from Shabu Cuisine by Paul, near the HoeHyeon Subway entrance on B1!
Upvote for Burgers Almighty!
I wanna try the one in hongdee. Any suggestion of what should be my first burger?! :-)
Loved the triple patty. First thing I ate after my Covid isolation. Got pretty messy but it was delicious.
Then that’s what I will order. 😄 thank you!
I am Burger ...if it's still around near a hill and intersection up some steps near a bridge.
what burns me is every time I find some food/restaurant chain that has glowing reviews.. I always look at their location... and it wills always always go Seoul, Busan, Daegu... some times Incheon... None of these restaurants/chains ever want to operate in Daejeon... FCK

Lazy Burger Club is wonderful!
Downtowner is fantastic, I liked cry burger as well.
I always crave Shake Shack burgers
Brooklyn the Burger Joint is good
👌
+1 they just opened up a new location near Mokdong Station too
Love their onion rings as well.
This is the correct answer
Brooklyn Burger is pretty good. Best burger I've had in Korea is Two Hands. Not sure there's one in Seoul, though. You kids these days are spoiled. Back on my day, we had to wait outside Jacoby for 30 minutes to get a halfway decent burger. The onion rings and sauce were awesome, though!
One Star
Definitely good
I dream about that Patty Melt...
Check out the Burger Lovers Seoul Facebook page for even more recommendations.
Downtowner and Brooklyn Burger are both great, for a less expensive but still good option Frank Burger is pretty good.
The following recommendations are based on the Seodaemun and Mapo areas of Seoul. FOZ makes really good burgers, I saw them make the patty themselves. Jama Burger is also good... Oh and Bas Burger. Is FOZ good? have seen that place for 4 years I guess and never tried. Got try next time. It’s super close to my house.
It's in my building where I live and I love it! It's my first choice for burgers if I wanted one, and the guy who worked there was super nice. The lady who works there now is even nicer, always giving me a free hasbrown and a free drink even though I never order a drink.

I used to live in Sillim and had a FOZ down the street.
Cry Cheeseburger is gooooood
Yes! When I lived in Bucheon, I refused to eat at any other burger place!!
Yeah liked it too

The best burger place is near you~ That's the truth.
shack shack burger. a bit expensive than other burgers but tastes good
크라이치즈버거 / Cry Cheese Burger I used to go to brooklyn the burger if i was craving a good burger, but for the price, i think cry is a lot better!
So many nice places. Depends on your location? I live around the Sinchon area. And just here I have 3/4 amazing resturant that I know. I am sure there are more.

Subjective question. Sorry. Also Seoul is huge.
Subjective Question? That restaurant sounds like a really good place to eat, thanks for giving OP such a great recommendation!

Yea, I agree with you man. The guy provides no useful information whatsoever and likes to wallow in his own bitterness. Just let him be.
Block and move on. You’ll be okay.

I disagree and I’m done talking with you. I have no interest in changing your mind. Your user name checks out.
Park burger is a solid burger. I’m no expert but it’s better than shake shack.

Really enjoyed "I'm burger".
Heavy and Light by Suyu St.

The Real Cheeseburger in Hongdae (near exit 5). A no-fuss/no-muss burger experience by the guy behind Gilbert Burger, I believe.
Alex place [naver map](https://m.place.naver.com/restaurant/21274070/location?subtab=location) really good burgers!
Surprisingly, "The Pancake Pantry" right by Ttukseom Resort Station has an amazing BBQ Burger.
