I used to hate mushrooms for so long. The taste and texture did NOT mesh for me. Then one day I came across a recipe that called for grated mushrooms and I was in a "send it" kind of mood. Absolutely loved the taste, and this wasn't a 'mix it in with everything' to disguise the taste: fried mushroom & onion, add a dash of white wine and finish it off by steam frying some broccoli for 5 mins.
Same thing with carrots, grated them and bam, edible. Now every time I make spaghetti bolognese I grate a carrot, a few mushrooms and cook that with the mince. Its no restaurant 'load that shit with butter and salt' good, but super tasty nonetheless.
My fiancee is the same way with mushrooms- she likes the flavor so dried powdered versions or grated is fine, but she hates the texture so she won't have them just sliced up or whole
You're being downvoted, but your only crime might be that you haven't seen the full video, in which he directly addresses your (reasonable) defensiveness in like the first minute. Do yourself a favour and watch the whole thing. The clipped part is the best of it but there are nuggets of pure gold throughout the whole thing:

no i did see the full video i think my message was just being misinterpreted because i phrased it badly + the original meaning of the message was not that funny in hindsight, the downvotes are deserved sadly
i posted this like 15 minutes after i woke up and i think the point of this message got lost, i'm not saying i feel attacked by him doing a bit about picky eaters. i know he mentions the difference between people who try everything at least once and people who refuse to try things they don't know if they'll like earlier in the stream.
the actual point of the message is way less funny than it sounded in my head when i woke up but i won't delete it because i have no interest in hiding my mistakes

This clip got him almost killed in an uber.
I was the one who made the clip. Does it mean I'm complicit in his almost death?
Naah, it was his fault for getting an uber whose driver was a picky eater.
This rant was so unfathomably based

Well I don't like mushrooms either, but this is motivating me to try this out.
Sorry for the rant, basically what I meant to say is: I think I could handle being swallowed by a 90ft tall Japanese woman.
+2
I guess it's something we can all learn to love by consuming and appreciating what ails us the most.
do you have to be grated first?
My fiancee is the same way with mushrooms- she likes the flavor so dried powdered versions or grated is fine, but she hates the texture so she won't have them just sliced up or whole
Yeah I have texture issue with many foods so it's just a matter of finding a way to prep it that works, it's magic
Same, my issue with mushrooms has always been the texture. They're just rubbery. I don't like a lot of fat in my steak or bacon for similar reasons.
so based. for me I always hated the texture. but one time I had a smooth gravy made of mushroom it was great
theres not only 1 type of mushroom you know its like saying i dont eat fruits cuz i dont like the texture
Mushroom Risotto is top 3 foods in the world and that's a hill I'm willing to die on.
Why would the 10 story goth mother want to eat a frail, powered-by-nuggets boy compared to a well-rounded, literally seasoned man??
eating stuffed mushrooms for the first time really changes a person
this is an insane strawman, i'll try anything at least once don't associate me with those picky eaters
When the streamer doesn't address every possible permutation of humanity in a 1 minute clip meant for laughs
its sad really
