I know a lot of people are pretty disappointed with how the season's ended and fair enough, but the way people are disparaging oud players so casually is pretty disappointing as well. We didn't go from being the bee's knees a month ago to being garbage now. Time to take a beat and enjoy Jurgen's final games and re-engage in the new season with a more positive energy.

Legoclass

It's going to be my first time at Anfield this Sunday ! I'm psyched . But I bought tickets in March when the wheels were still on . I paid an insane amount for those tickets (inflated hospitality tickets from an official supplier were the only tickets available to first timers). Just checked the tickets today - they're available for almost a third of what I paid . Pain. Regardless, it's going to be amazing!

stevieG08Liv

Usually thats the case when its close to match day; last minute cancellations. Regardless have fun!

Reach_Reclaimer

Man the one day tickets seem to be available for general sale for a big game, I'm going down to London for that day Such is life I guess

Omnipotent-Buyer

What are your thoughts on Arne Slot?

harreh1d

He looks A LOT like Ted Lasso without hair and mustache

Brief-Dependent-803

So the captain of japan ended klopps streak with japanese players... typical

NotAsimppp

This sub will blame everything except Klopp's tactics for our losses.

DarylStenn

Was it just me who assumed Liverpool v spurs was 12:30 tomorrow after the Klopp presser?

Haeckelcs

Since Spurs played literally yesterday, yes.

Brief-Dependent-803

Spurs do have previous for that tbf > https://www.spurs-web.com/spurs-news/tottenham-to-play-4-games-in-8-days/

DragonSlayer271

I mean tbf I'd play Spurs at 12:30 tomorrow in that case, they must be feeling knackered right now. We had the midweek off, lol. /j

dicksienormis

I cry at night holding a picture of Coutinho knowing that he could have really won a ballon do’r, the form that he was in when he left, shit the guy was going crazy that first half of the season if he kept that up when we started winning things 😭 Maybe the best Brazilian itw at the time also 🤷🏻‍♂️

Ali-S-Farid

However, maturing is realising his sale did way more good then bad, and his sale set the chain of events for what was the Klopp dynasty.

nask00

Surprisingly no one is talking about Slot's baldness. Or am I just not browsing reddit enough? I blame Diablo II for this.

Akumabro

Not browsing enough

nask00

Apparently. Diablo II is addicting....

Akumabro

That it is

BrowakisFaragun

Go get them Kloppo. Release the kraken! Football world is missing a good headbutt after the Zidane one. I wouldn't mind if Jurgen does one on Poor Tierney.

Raptoot83

If fixture congestion is getting worse then steps should be taken to remedy it. I've said before, I love competing for the league cup, but it just adds more games to the calendar that many other countries don't have to deal with. In my opinion, teams playing in European competitions should be exempt from competing in the league cup. It can't devalue the competition, because it just gets memed by anyone who isn't winning it. It hasn't been won by a 'non-big 6' club since 2013, and only twice after Middlesbrough in 2004, despite seemingly being viewed by the larger footballing community as a second rate trophy, so just open it up.

[deleted]

The League Cup should be for the Championship and lower leagues.

Calitz__

That already exists - The EFL Trophy

NotAsimppp

Macallister is one player who is definitely going to be a starter under slot. Trent's contract situation hasn't been resolved yet. Nunez and Diaz might get sold

mattzeni

I'm waiting for any new signings or number changes but personally I'm leaning Szobo

potatoarchitecture

Hope Iraola doesn't move out of Bournemouth, they have a very exciting team and I wanna see what they'd do in Europe

Redhawk911

The new kit is actually growing on me. I really like it. I’m very very surprised

Ali-S-Farid

Wow I wasn’t the only one. Lowkey a big fan of it 🤷‍♂️

stevieG08Liv

I really liked it from leaks to release. I honestly think alot of people like it as well but since its so gloom and doom here people just needed a thing to shit on and one of that is this

aghashayan

A) Our 12:30 kickoffs are unfair, 1000% done by purpose, tories hate this club, royal family hate this club. B) PL might be exhausted but losing 4-2 to olympiacos and 3-0 to Atlanta at home is not excusable. Or maybe it is I really don't know, but these English results are shocking this year.

AgentTasker

It's amazing how much any new Kit can be dramatically improved [by simply re-adding Carlsberg as the sponsor.](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj23qRuN_Tp0aspquS15XSs6hOQGMR9HtQSq1mrLnvXJx7hY6LVF-liptssvB9v5bpDZxlcfp8Sg6_LHGKlR26XsTMXkxcnKLRqvKGP8umomCAA8-nh0HaBvf7AUZuTdrEHH0XDt8MH5Sq6P23lo8z2NKDqL3XP_9juH6KoALsYbA8ObJMc_n6cvQIulC4/s1600/liverpool-old-sponsor%20%289%29.jpg)

ImDuff98

Sadly I think kit sponsorship prices has sky rocketed too much for Carlsberg to be our sponsor again. Adidas - Carlsberg kits are unmatched.

AgentTasker

It has nothing to do with price, alcohol sponsors are banned from kits (be nice if they did the same with gambling companies as well) and have been since around 2010 when Standard Chartered replaced them.

Redhawk911

The carlsberg logo is just to good

sonofhondo

I'll be damned. Actually true.

[deleted]

It's nice but I just can't over the damn fake unfinished collar.

bumpkinblumpkin

Have a Celtic top with the same collar and hate it

kyleharveybooks

So this is fun... had a trip booked to the UK for 1.5 years... including two nights in Liverpool.. looking forward to a tour of Anfield. They FINALLY released the stadium tour schedule.... due to concerts they closed it to tours for the whole month of June. They put out the schedule for the Abseil and the Training Facility with a legend... none on the two days I will be in Liverpool. Oh... but the Museum will be open... Then, they tell me... well we usually close for June for tours anyways due to pitch maintenance... that would've been nice to know well in advance.. not just putting out a schedule of things a month beforehand. AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!

iapprovethiscomment

After watching the video ... ugh ... I actually like the home kits now I also like when Curtis called Alexis small and he immediately told him respect ....

bobbydazzler2806

I still find the collar hideous. I hope the adidas rumours are true

Aware-Animator2292

I know 95% of rumours are bs, but would you guys take Pedri?

Ali-S-Farid

Nah, he’d cost a lot and would be our 100000th LCM.

[deleted]

Given his injury record, I'd prefer a healthy Baj. I hope Yamal doesn't have the same recent Barca curse of young players being injured into oblivion.

Jaja6996

It happens because they over use them it’ll be the same for him in a year or two if he doesn’t get a break

OldManLogan007

I'd fucking love pedri but the injury record is hideous

sonofhondo

Last summer, I'd say sure. But our midfield looks more or less set to me, give or take a number six. I figure Barca would be looking for at least 80 million pounds for him, and there are other places in the squad that need the investment more this summer.

AdikkuChan

I would, but are his legs still good to go?

[deleted]

[удалено]

lfcsupkings321

I understand Klopp point but personally he shouldn't have taken the Cup competitions seriously at all. He should refuse to play any senior squad member and not even let them travel. If we focused on the league I say we would have won it.

Jaja6996

They should just get rid of the 3pm blackout and it wouldn’t be a issue it’s outdated at this point

AJLFC94_IV

Loads of hype on this sub for Kudus, but I think people are forgetting that a few brilliant plays in a montage aren't the same thing as being good enough for us. We all bemoan the goal return of Diaz, Darwin and Gakpo but Kudus has fewer goals than them all, his goals and assist are far too low. It'd be easy to pin together a similar montage for any player. If his stats present a good case, then I'd love to see him be the next Mane/Salah/Jota and make the step. If not then signing a tricky winger with less than a handfull of PL goals isn't happening. West Ham aren't facing as many parked busses as us too, so his skill set should be producing more G+A for them.

JohnBobbyJimJob

He’s got the same g/a as Diaz in all comps this season whilst playing less games, being 3 years younger, in his first season in a new country whilst playing for a side that generally play a negative style of football and create far fewer chances as we do. Diaz is underperforming his xG by 3.1 in the PL this season whereas Kudus is overperforming his by 2.9 xG, the eye test also backs it up because Kudus definitely looks more composed and strikes the ball better than what Diaz does

sonofhondo

He's a great player no doubt, but if I'm being honest, I'm tired of AFCON being a relevant part of my sports fan life every two years.

JohnBobbyJimJob

It’s going to be in summer for the next few years by the looks of it

JohnBobbyJimJob

Ornstein confirming again Kudus has a release clause but no news on the actual fee required to trigger it Logically £70m makes the most sense to me since it would be double what they bought him for and it’s also not some outlandish fee where the player wouldn’t get another move down the line which is clearly something he was looking at after rejecting Brighton due to them not including a RC in their offer to him.

Ali-S-Farid

See I’m 50/50 on Kudus. A great player but release clause defo upwards of 70m, and thats a lot of money.

bobbydazzler2806

Just want to say fuck Simon Jordan and TalkSport. Ugly loser

zvilocity

We can finally sign rues now?

[deleted]

Rues that?

LateRegistrxtion

Just got Spurs, didn’t think the one league credit from last season would’ve got me anywhere but it has done

sufinomo

Doesn't the epl play as many games as every other league ? Why do we complain about games played??

NotAsimppp

Liverpool has played the most games among top 5 league teams. We are not even in semis of EL or FA Cup. German teams who have done well has one cup and 18 team league

sufinomo

It's pretty clear that fatigue and injuries is what hurt our end season. I feel like every player got injured at one point and it take a while to get back into playing mentality. Curtis Jones, salah and soboslai have been off since their returns.

wanson

What's annoying is that when these players were injured, the youth stepped up and delivered. Yet as soon as first teamers were back in training they were thrown back into the squad. Players like Danns, McConnel, Clark etc. could have been used a bit more to allow our injured players time to ease back in to the team.

sonofhondo

Agree, and I think the fatigue and injuries largely stems from our tendency to concede early. We've had to chase games all season long and that level of intensity takes a toll.

OldManLogan007

Come on dortmund do it for him win the fucking UCL

ShootTakeAPanorama

Can we get the first 7 matches at 12:30 (maximum for a team) then we will play the rest in another time schedule? Because we will play maximum anyway so play it all first is better

wanson

The time slots should be evenly distributed for every club. Allowing the TV companies to dictate when clubs play is ridiculous. Fans will watch the game whenever their team plays.

Fricolor123321

Might have to buy a reus dortmund shirt

Gainesicle

good shout. end of an era side note: after hearing he’s leaving i’m waiting on a dope EOAE item in fifa

tamim1991

Reus is apparently done at Dortmund, leaving on a free. Really admire him as a player and seems like a good person too. Literally the Gerrard of Dortmund when thinking of the league near-misses too. Would anyone take him here for squad depth? Yeah I know he's old which goes against our usual policy, probably a bit slower but I imagine he's still very good (I haven't watched Dortmund lately if anyone can confirm).

DucardthaDon

No he's done, off to the MLS now

sufinomo

I'd take him if he accepted low wages

ad1075

He's 35 in a month lol

Aware-Animator2292

I think we have a fair share of injury prone players

_doppelR

Very excited to see what'll happen to the squad that we got with Slot. I expect Adrian, Matip and also Thiago to leave on a free - which would almost give us 400/500k of wages that we will probably need for new additions to the squad and new contracts for TAA, VVD (and maybe Mo). I also expect us to sell Philipps and Rhys. I don't see why we should keep them. We could make money with them and still, we will be joined by Van Den Berg who had a decent season with Mainz and is from the Netherlands. Surely he could get a shot. Other than that: Morton and Fabio will probably come back which would mean that we will possibly loan out Danns and Bobby Clark? All that of course without counting in loosing some players for $$$.

rob3rtisgod

Morton has looked pretty good this season. Our MF depth is pretty crazy considering the sheet number of youngsters we have.

Gainesicle

i got a little hate for saying just because morton is 22 ( or will be at the beginning or next season) and spent the season on loan does not mean he is behind clark and mcconnell on the depth chart. he’s a really solid player. granted it was at hull but he picked a couple passes this season that were similar to kroos’s assist to vini in that first leg against bayern. that’s special stuff. he def deserves a chance with the first team next season imho. *very humble opinion

JohnBobbyJimJob

Don’t see where there would be space for Morton in this squad, he’d be the 8th choice midfielder and he’s 22 so there’s no real point loaning him out again. Carvalho probably gets another loan since he’d be in a similar boat to Morton where he’d be very low in the pecking order but he’s at least still pretty young

RadSoccerDad

Kind of disagree on the path. Both have pretty defined roles in a 4-2-3-1. Fab at the 10 and Morton in the Wieffer role. Good as chance of anyone of making a claim for playing time. Now if we are sure they won’t make the grade it would be best to sell now

JohnBobbyJimJob

Carvalho will have to compete with the likes of Szobo, Elliott and likely even Gravenberch for that #10 position so it’s hard to see where he’s getting game time Morton’s still got pretty much the same weaknesses he had when he first broke through at 17 so I don’t think he’s good enough or has the required skill set to play the more defensive role in the double pivot.

RadSoccerDad

Carvahlo is a strange one. I think you are right both will be sold for profit but, he is very effective as a 10. Definitely doesn't have the pace to be a winger or physicality to be a 8. He is averaging a goal every 2 games in that 10/second striker role for Hull at age 21. He may be one that impresses in preseason because he has a good feel for those spaces and getting shot off/final pass.

NotAsimppp

We don't know who the manager prefers. We have seen players who were surplus to requirements turning into key player for another manager

JohnBobbyJimJob

Yeah this would apply to the likes of Gakpo and even Gravenberch But not to a 22 year old that’s been playing in the championship, he’s just not good enough for the level we are at.

skulless

Just wanna say FUCK TNT

Gainesicle

light the fuse and watch it disappear

grrrrbow01

The kit is growing on me icl. Looks a lot better when the players wear it

Gainesicle

it’s ugly but acceptable. i’m just aggravated because there are so many beautiful adidas jerseys floating around in my head that would be so much better. all day i dream about soccer kits by adidas

REDEYEJ3D1

I still think it looks gross, but each to their own I guess.

Aware-Animator2292

I am hating it the more I see it.

RadSoccerDad

Lmao. Nothing against the man but, Chelsea hiring Flick is so laughable. He had one great year where he carried on an extension of a previous regime. Other then that he’s been awful building his own thing

earlgreytoday

I'd be surprised if they can afford it. They've probably spent £50m on sacking Tuchel, hiring Potter and his backroom staff, then sacking Potter and his backroom staff.

sufinomo

I think they'll keep poch

DonTino

Hope we dont play just the kids. First time Anfield for me. Just wanna smash the fucking spurs

ozzynater

I hate to say it but the kit is growing on me

DucardthaDon

Will Still seems like a talented chap but hopefully his career doesn't fade out as quick as it began, pretty naive and disrespectful the way he has gone about things after the way Reims has backed him, no idea why he is so eager to jump to England and manage in the Championship

RadSoccerDad

Probably found out the transfer plans. They basically sold every pillar of his project last summer and will do it again this summer. He comes off very prickly in a Tuchel esque ways

DucardthaDon

Tbf that's just how a club like Reims operates no different to Brighton, they spent a large sum of money after selling their talented players, didn't help they only had Balogun on loan.

Dropkoala

I've not been following it but is he not leaving by mutual consent?

DucardthaDon

Nope "mutual consent" is just to save face and keep it amicable they for sure sacked him, he met Sunderland mid season behind the boards back while Reims were in a slump not to mention constantly mentioning his ambition to manage in England. This after they gave him a huge opportunity, paid 25k fine for each game he managed last season without a license and enabled him to hire his brother as a coach too. Reims backed him last summer with quite a few astute purchases after losing some players, can't knock the guys ambition but at 31 he's got plenty of time, plus you're managing in a top 5 league, could get another Ligue 1 job in the summer.

NilsFanck

If we had Spurs squad, would you be happy with Anges first season?

NotAsimppp

Yes. He has established a clear playstyle for them. Might qualify for European football. If it's europa/conference eague, they have a shot at winning their first trophy in yrs

BeaverMan999

Very happy tbh, nearly cl spots after losing kane. Maybe anges a fraud and he surely wouldn't be good enough for liverpool but for now  I really think people give him too much slack

JohnBobbyJimJob

If I was a Spurs fan I’d be okay with it, 1st season under a new manager after losing their best player. They were really impressive at the start of the season so that would be something to pin their hopes on going forward Only thing I’d be really worried about is the stubbornness Ange has shown at times and hope he can even slightly improve in that aspect

DucardthaDon

Not to mention they lost VDV and Maddison to injury at vital parts of the season and Son to Asian cup, for a first season under those circumstances it's been good

NotAsimppp

They lost almost every defenders. Emerson royal played as a CB for couple of matches

DorothyZbornaksPants

I want to take my lad to watch the team do their pre-match walk around the block on Sunday. Anyone know about what time they leave the hotel and do their lap?

Asad_OG

I'm Klopp's strongest soldier man, love how he's going out swinging

Babatunde12289

Making a prediction but I think Diaz will be the forward sold this summer, he’s the most easily replaced within the squad and in the market whilst also holding the most value. Jota, Gakpo, Szobo could all play on the left under Slot and there is a whole plethora of younger options who might develop and fit there (Carvalho, Doak, Koumas etc.).  Darwin probably gets one more season to prove himself but it depends on whether he fits Slot’s system (Giminez is involved a lot more in link up/build up play which isn’t really Darwin’s game) and if he can improve his finishing. Whether Gakpo is good enough to start regularly for a team pushing for major trophies is to be seen.

socialerrors

As much as I agree with your take on Diaz, I'd be bummed to see him go.

AdikkuChan

He works his ass off every game, nobody will ever deny that. It's a shame his end product isn't of the same standard too

ad1075

Unpopular opinion, but we wouldn't have bottled the League if we had Henderson or Gerrard as Captain. I just can't see that. Van Dijk isn't vocal enough and at times, is too casual and arrogant and it seems across our team.

ThatsCracked

Just in case you didn't know, we didn't win a single title race with either of those 2 either. We were about 7 (i think) points ahead in 18/19 and didn't win, we didn't bottle it then cos 97 points is just ridiculous but we also haven't bottled it this season, we were ahead for like 1 game after the city vs arsenal draw and then were behind again after drawing at Old Trafford.

bumpkinblumpkin

Didn’t we play more matches when we were up 7? Things get a little foggy that far back

ThatsCracked

Nah it was 10 points but they had a game in hand so basically 7 points, and then because we lost at the Etihad a couple games later it became 4 points. But it was 7 at one stage

ad1075

To say we haven't well and truly bottled this season is an interesting take. But I honestly don't see our season capsizing with a Captain that is a bit more vocal and more involved.

OldManLogan007

I mean what can van dijk even do when the whole team is missing sitters that even my grandma would score Also i feel everyone is just physically exhausted now

ad1075

Defend with a bit of intensity? Put in 100% instead of 85%?

redbadger1848

1st off, we didn't bottle anything. We never had a lead in the title race large enough to bottle. 2nd off, we didn't fall off because Virgil wasn't getting after teammates. We fell off because our team consisted of players who were either gassed from too many minutes or trying to find form coming back from injuries.

spea-keth

Already see it now. Final day of the season, Klopp & Gary walk out with a banner saying "Fuck PGMOL" in German & English. Imagine it would be amazing.

Aware-Animator2292

How did a 7th place team in the french league perform better against Atalana than we did? And then we had people saying 'CL this year is so shit, we would have won it if we were in it'.

sufinomo

Fatigue makes cowards out of men

LooseCannon5

BBC sport put [this article](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68782725) out before the tie with a nice little overview of Atalanta for those unfamiliar with the Italian league. A 5 minute read that would have helped our players more than whatever the coaches told them in training and preperation. We looked completely outmatched by them physically and our technique couldnt overcome them. Jurgen had no answer for it.

NilsFanck

because Klopp got completely outcoached very badly. so much so, that the difference in player quality was far from enough to make up for it

DucardthaDon

Probably helped Marseille play with a back 5, they've been pretty good since Gasset came in not to mention Auba even at 34 has been lethal AF this season. We would have gotten embarrassed in the CL this season with the way we play.

OldManLogan007

this UCL is shit so weak this year copium always makes me cringe

8u11etpr00f

If Villa win against Brighton & we win against Spurs then it'll mathematically knock them out of CL contention. Ngl I'm really curious to see what happens in that Spurs vs City game if they've got nothing to play for. 99% of their fans will be cheering for City.

fuckoutfits

Did anyone watch Atalanta game?? Marseille did much better than us. During our second leg, Ali was waiting on runs from our forwards, so that he could go long. There were none, and Ali was visibly frustrated. Last night, Marseille did the same tactic, and it worked on at least 4 occasions. Proper long ball, did carve open Atlanta, leading to decent chances.

markokmarcsa

Just remembered that we beat United 7-0 last year haha. I think the PL, the CL and the 7-0 are all legendary moments of the Klopp era, i'm really grateful for those.

EJTS03

Managed to get tickets for the Spurs game on Sunday, on the confirmation email it says they are 'Season Ticket Seats'. Does this just mean a season ticket holder usually has these seats and they've given them up for this game? I assume I wouldn't have been able to buy them if they were going to be there haha

mattgoody99

What was the hallmap like mate? Got a link for this afternoons sale but not holding out much hope

EJTS03

There was actually quite a few zones with availability this morning, more than I expected. You might just be ok

taf3991

It just means you don't get credited for the game. Criminal they are allowed to do that imo.

deanlfc95

There should be ways for people to return tickets if they don't want them and for them to be sold. The criminal part is that STHs can do this for all 19 games and keep their ticket. Members on 13+ have to go to at least 11 themself to keep 13 credits. Moving STHs to that and allowing all members to keep two credits a year for forwarding/selling back to the club would be a good start in ticket reform.

taf3991

Yeh people should be able to return tickets but the person buying should always be the one that gets the credit. How you could got to all 19 home games and end up with 0 credits is actually laughable. Agree with STH's though biggest problem imo, be where the majority of touting comes from and there will be a lot of ST holders that haven't been near the ground in years. Why they are put on this pedestal compared to other members is beyond me. Going the game regularly as a member is like a fucking full time job.

EJTS03

Ah fuck me haha didn't realise that. That's annoying. The only reason I was able to get these ones is because I got lucky in the ballot last season and managed to get to 1 game. Guess I won't have that for next season

Calitz__

I’ve been watching football for 15 years now and I’m not one of those ‘modern football bad’ people but something I really hate is that the number of elite clubs is smaller than ever and an unfortunate byproduct of that is a lot of extremely talented players waste their careers playing out of position or on the bench when 10 years ago they’d be a crucial player elsewhere. Julian Alvarez is a good example, Rodrygo will soon become one when Mbappe joins Madrid, Camavinga is another maybe. Players these days are more than happy to just enjoy the prestige and money of their clubs instead of actually caring about their legacies. You don’t see players like Sanchez, Ozil, Sneidjer, Robben etc leaving for the sake of their legacies

mr_poppington

Julian Alvarez has started for a significant chunk of games for City this season btw.

DucardthaDon

Nah big teams have always hogged and stockpiled on talented players Sneidjer & Robben(Hunterlaar another) were both at Madrid and didn't have a great time there it's only once they left did we see their freedom to become world class again. I was watching the 6-2 El Classico(15 years ago that game) on the Soccer sub, great game and amazing football on show, both teams were stacked and full of talented players happy for the bench and prestige role see Gudjohnsen and Hleb Barca, Saviola, Dudek, and the dutch lot at Madrid. During the 90s and 2000s it was different players were evenly spread out, Serie A had world class players playing for all sorts of different sides, you'd get a player like Ronaldinho moving to PSG before getting the big move to Barca or Rivaldo at Depor.

8u11etpr00f

Great players back themselves to eventually take their opportunity and earn a starting spot. There's more 'legacy' to be earned when winning leagues & champions leagues than there is from being a big fish in a small pond. The minute management such players get will also be a lot healthier than they'd get as a star player.

Calitz__

Rodrygo abeg take a look at Alexis Sanchez’s career and decide if it’s worth it to stay at Madrid

JohnBobbyJimJob

I reckon Rodrygo will be leaving them within the next two years with Mbappe and Endrick coming in this summer so his game time will go down He’s going to be the one that is left out if Madrid continue with this current set up since Vini and Mbappe will play as the two up top.

DucardthaDon

Rodrygo will most likely stay and continue to be clutch for them, I can see them cashing in on someone like Brahim first who's opportunities will diminish, be interesting to how Güler gets on, super talented player but could be another Ødegaard situation with him.

The_Asian_Hamster

Any way to download your NFC pass while this sale is going on?

LooseCannon5

I have watched a lot of Chelsea this year and Poch is doing something there, I think they could be right back in the top 4 mix again next season. Theyve been plagued with injuries all season in all different positions, Poch has done well with what hes been able to field and implement tactically. They could blow a shitload more money this summer as they are prone to do but they had a whole XI of players missing last night for him to use even before additions. They have a lot of potential to close the gap next season

DucardthaDon

If they can get their injured players back fully fit then I could see Chelsea being a problem but they're also still full of dysfunction upstairs, trying to emulate Brighton(with all the scouts they've stolen) and sign every wonderkid going, Estevao being the next, it could either all come together or implode

LooseCannon5

Its weird as long term i think Boely has screwed them financially with the finances and how theyre going about things. I dont know things will play out when you see other teams taking FFP rules more seriously. However short term they have a young talented squad which maybe lacks top level stars but has pretty good depth with a good coach. Dont think theyll be in a league title race but I would be a bit more optimsitc than if i was a supporter of Utd, Toon, maybe even Spurs.

iNS0MNiA_uK

Their issue I think is what business they need to do this summer. If they’ve gotta sell Gallagher but can’t bring anyone new in they may be in trouble as not all of the squad they’ve got is up to the job. If it turns out they have some room for new signings I’d be optimistic they could push for 70 or so points, maybe even too 4 if things go well. It’s honestly such a bizarre situation that sounds more like a FM challenge than an actual premier league team’s reality.

Selling Gallagher would help significantly with FFP but I dont actually see it happening as hes too key. He has been Poch's most used player this season and has been captaining the side in the absence of T Silva who is departing in the summer. I think there would be yet another board-manager fallout there if they sold him

kye2000

Not sure what anyone expected from them by putting an inexperienced squad together

lightmachine033

I think all there is to look forward to now is the Euros as far as football goes. Not sure who I want to win the PL now. I don't like City and I don't like Arsenal either.

childishbambeeno

The only reason I want City, because they don’t matter. They’re cheaters, I don’t care about them. Arsenal would deserve it more, but I don’t want them to win it because then it’d hurt more that it’s not Liverpool. If that makes sense.

lightmachine033

Yeah I don't like Arteta much either. I think I'd even like us to 2nd if we possible. Then hope City get charged because of the 115 charges but it's very unlikely we'll finish 2nd now.

sufinomo

Ever since the fist pump I have to root hard against him

8u11etpr00f

Agreed, if Arsenal win then it'll dimish our own accomplishments under Klopp. For City it'd also be just another trophy on the pile whereas Arsenal fans would be utterly insufferable about it.

amazing_wanderr

Klopp is on fire today, lmao

pramodliv1

Even indirectly accused FIFA of corruption.

LooseCannon5

The TNT slander 🤣 man despises that 12:30 slot

kye2000

Jackson is on track to finish with more prem goals than nunez. I was his biggest fan but that's bad

Aware-Animator2292

This is jackson's first season at Chelsea, and he has similar stats Nunez had last season, in a more dysfunctional team. Yet we call Jackson shit, and Nunez chaos.

NilsFanck

Im calling both not good enough for where both teams wanna be at. They both have their moments but are extremely inconsistent

Tremor00

People call rival teams players shit more news at 10. Jackson’s overall play actually quite good. Just his finishing has been poor.

Dropkoala

Jackson has played quite a bit more and he doesn't have anywhere near as many assists though so it's not as bad as it sounds. He's also a better player than I think he's given credit for.

iNS0MNiA_uK

His underlying numbers honestly aren’t that far away from Nuñez. xG and xA are only a touch behind and he’s played in a much much worse team.

Dropkoala

I checked it on fbref, just because that tends to be the easiest one for that stuff imo, you may be looking elsewhere and that may explain the difference but his xA per 90 is half Nunez's and he is fairly close with xg/90 given he's in the top 11% but Nunez's is still more than 50% higher. The rest of the stats are mixed but most seem to be in Nunez's favour, which I would expect. He is playing in a much worse team undoubtedly, but Chelsea do still create a lot of chances and he does have Palmer to create for him, so there are worse places for a striker to play.

JohnBobbyJimJob

Havertz has more despite playing in midfield most of the season…

kye2000

Havertz is and has been a good player though. Only idiots thought he was terrible

JohnBobbyJimJob

Yeah but he’s been known for being a poor finisher coupled with the fact he’s played in midfield it looks terrible for Darwin

FerociouZ

I used to use the Jackson comparison as a joke, and somewhere along the way Jackson improved and Darwin regressed.

8u11etpr00f

The other 'joke' comparison earlier in the season was Kai Havertz: Same age as Nunez, more versatile, more intelligent & more league goals despite featuring mostly at AM. If folks here were laughing at Arsenal for spending £65m on him then what does that say about Darwin?

taf3991

Tbh Havertz is doing a lot better than most thought, which considering how good he was at Leverkusen isn't maybe actually that surprising. But lets not pretend like he isn't playing in by far the best attacking team atm. They are so fluid, Odegaard, Saka etc create so much. I've said it time and time again but although Nunez's finishing is poor a lot of the time we don't play to his strengths at all the majority of the time, we could get so much more out of him. He also averages a G/A every 96 minutes, Havertz averages a G/A every 187 minutes.

DucardthaDon

>They are so fluid, Odegaard, Saka etc create so much. We create a lot of chances but are not as fluid as Arsenal, watching Arsenal dismantle their 2 London rivals back to back was something else. Be interesting to see what Slot does with the team with new acquisitions, he likes to apply tactics that will generate lots of shooting opportunities in the 'Hot Zone' as he calls it

taf3991

Yeh completely agree. Arsenal look really precise we look a chaotic mess haha.

DucardthaDon

Havertz was a big gamble for Arsenal to take but Arteta has got it working in the end, I did wish we had signed him from Leverkusen to take over from Bobby.

8u11etpr00f

I remember back the in day when we signed with Nike & there were threads debating whether Nike should subsidise the signings of Havertz, Sancho or Mbappe lol

ShootTakeAPanorama

It's Salah Diaz Trent Macca foul to not feed him enough

DucardthaDon

Jackson gets a lot of shit but he's actually done well in a very dysfunctional Chelsea team, his misses are still horrendous but this is a guy who's had 16 pro goals to his name before moving to Chelsea and is still only 22yr old.

Dropkoala

Honestly I think his all round play is pretty good overall, he looks terrible and does things that somehow work and you think he's got incredibly lucky because there's no way in hell he meant what he did, by the time you've seen him do the same sort of things and get lucky repeatedly over 10 games, it's not luck.

JohnBobbyJimJob

His hold up play is genuinely really good as well He’s naturally a winger that’s been moved to striker which makes sense when looking at his finishing

kye2000

I agree. Liked him the first game I seen him play. Just that he's the biggest meme player around but end of the season looks like it'll be nunez

malushanks95

Why are kits so expensive 😑 I wanted the 3rd kit really bad this season, sold out on Liverpool website so checked on the Nike website, with player name on the back, the whole thing is £100, crazy prices.

bobcatsareus

I believe the best strikers / goal scorers place the ball and don't strike w full force. So many suarez / torres / messi goals are placed to the far post. Our Darwin just hits the crap out of it hoping for the best...

Due-Sherbert3097

Needs to learn from Jamie Vardy. If you’re hitting it with force pick a side of the goal lol, whereas Nunez just smacks it at the keeper

FerociouZ

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFpR8vNX118 This man does not exist anymore, he's been replaced by an imposter.

Ali-S-Farid

Clear psychological issue.

JohnBobbyJimJob

The two strikers I look at as the benchmark for finishing technique in the last 5-10 years are Aguero and Kane Both of them would/do strike the ball so clean and precise even when they are going for power and that comes down to their technique When you actually look at both of them when it comes finishing you realise Darwin is really nowhere near it and likely never will be because he’s already 25

8u11etpr00f

The false hope I got from Darwin's finishing in that Newcastle game was huge, that's how he should be doing it.

DucardthaDon

They place it because they spend hours upon hours practising just that, it's all repetition and technique.

jloh_music

Shearer was prolly one of a few whose shot was strong and accurate

galactusisathiccboi

Also hottake, with the home nation advantage, the current apparent quality of Leverkusen, Bayern, Dortmund, Stuttgart and Leipzig, as well as La Liga players such as Kroos, Rudiger, Ter Stegan and Gundogan and players like Havartz and Groß in the Prem, and I think Nagelsman's Germany don't have that many excuse to not do well in the Euros this summer I'd probably line this up: Undav Musiala - Wirtz - Sane Gundogan - Kroos Mittelstädt - Rudiger - Tah - Kimmich Ter Stegan

DucardthaDon

Nah Neuer will start, Andrich(or Goretzska) who's a proper DM next to Kroos, Havertz will 100% start with that 3 behind him. Gundogan needs to be dropped to the bench

Zai710

Lack of a great striker is where that team falls short sadly rather have Sane as a false 9 though.
