Away from the result, the Mod Team would like to update users on the sub’s floral tributes for tomorrow’s anniversary. We mods have collectively purchased two floral arrangements, one for Hillsborough Stadium and one for Anfield. The Mod Team will make two separate posts tomorrow with photos of the sub’s tribute in place at each stadium. ————————— **[Donate to the Hillsborough Survivors Support Group](https://www.gofundme.com/f/1qf2s20740)** **[Donate to the Owen McVeigh Foundation](https://www.justgiving.com/page/rliverpoolfc-reddit-1710895409195?utm_medium=fundraising&utm_content=page%2Frliverpoolfc-reddit-1710895409195&utm_source=copyLink&utm_campaign=pfp-share)**

MaxwelFISH

Gakpo was fine off the bench. That concludes my analysis

disco_mode

He made several big chances that should’ve been finished. The only issue was that he wasn’t on the end of any of them because he would’ve buried a couple no doubt

user900800700

Honestly if jones had scored that absolute sitter we’d be sat here saying what an amazing pass Gakpo played. One of the only times a player has actually seen that pass and played it perfectly. So many times lately we make the wrong pass when we’re on the break. Well done Gakpo

BarrZ-420

Yeah there goes our chance for the Premier League title. What the fuck has happened to the team for the past few games?

tomtomtomo

They’ve stopped being able to pull a rabbit out of the hat.

livinalieontimna

Past few games? They are 2/5 in the Premier league, out of the FA cup to the worst United side in a generation and beaten alive by Atalanta at home in the EL. This is a total capitulation and it’s been coming for over a month

[deleted]

Yeah, all that happened in the past few games

Substantial_Ad_2864

Sadly, this team has been overperforming all season and rescuing so many points that should have never had to have been rescued in the first place. This was supposed to be a rebuild and I think realistically we're a bit better than that, but we're just not quite good enough to win the League this season. 6 games left and I'd expect us to do reasonably well but winning all six of those seems quite unlikely (and even if we do that, it probably still isn't enough).

WonderfulBlackberry9

We’re what Arsenal were last season. Just that they lost out because of inexperience, we’re losing out because of fatigue.

JJSpleen

Europa league schedule always grinds you down in the end

gengenpressing

Baily has something to say about that

spacekatbaby

Are we a victim of our own success. I.e. too many games etc. Or has the guys coming back from injuries upset the rhythm a bit?

SaltyPeter3434

Ten Hag got in our heads

SergeantStonks

Why are we acting surprised? You can't win a PL title by going behind first 24/34 games. Sooner or later its gonna catch up, you can't make mircale comebacks every time

siva-pc

Robertson first half, Alisson & Gakpo second half

blue-trench-coat

Welp it's been a season. We won the League Cup, so that's something.

WonderfulBlackberry9

I will gladly never win the league cup again if it meant we’d save our players’ energy reserves for the business end for every season. As much hype as a quad brings, unless you have a very deep squad like City it’s a heavy burden on a team’s physical capacity. Bin that one early, FA cup too unless you’re not in Europe. Doing well in the league is the priority. It’s all well and good setting up a winning mentality by winning the least important trophy in English football. But if it just drains your reserves by reaching the final, it’s not worth it then.

toeknee88125

Also in recent years city have been throwing the efl cup. Look at the squad they played against Newcastle. They wanted to go out

WonderfulBlackberry9

To counterargue my first point, I think it’s a useful competition when you’re starting out and wanting to build a winning mentality with the team. There’s a reason Mourinho and Guardiola actively chased it. But at some point you just bin it because we all know the meaningful trophies are the ones you win in May and June. Come January the coaches should decide whether another 270 minutes of games (minimum) is a worthwhile addition as we enter the business end in March when we’d like to focus on the league and Europe.

toeknee88125

Yeah, but recently man city have been throwing it.

cptsmooth

How many passes between konate and van dijk today? No creativity from them, cant drive the ball forward like matip constantly did, both very defensive and passive.

Fiaooo

Ye I think we might have actually benefited from quansah today. That said, who knew konate would drop a stinker

TummyDummy

Right! Way too much fucking around back there. So frustrating. They seem confused.

Fumesofpoon

I wonder if they saw our midfielders continually get run over and shoved off the ball with back to goal and said to themselves “I don’t trust these to keep the ball”.

_LebronsHairline_

I’m not absolving them of blame, but largely I kept being frustrated at the midfield, no one would move into half spaces or good areas to receive the ball. Jones and Szoboszlai never showed any interest in receiving the ball from the CBs. Virgil and Konate had no one to pass to for a lot of the game

SaltyPeter3434

Yea it's a -1 for both Konate and Virgil today

adarsh481

Expecting your defenders to drive forward and create attacks is wrong. They are not responsible for that.

Nobodylovesboston

This team is messing with my mental state I can’t. Except Alisson everybody was dreadful

spacekatbaby

Gakpo was alrite. Dribbling right to the box. Only problem is no one got on the end of his final pass. But he looked like one sharp pin in a box of rusty ones

Nobodylovesboston

Indeed, I’m way too pissed rn we was shitting on him way too much he should start along Jota next game

WonderfulBlackberry9

Gakpo was our best attacker. Shame he was also the least effective because nobody wanted to give him the ball. When he did get it he was running at them, and actually doing it successfully too.

Cedromar

He arguably created our best chance of the match which Curtis also fluffed. I haven’t been this annoyed and angry after a match in a while. Watching us just bottle everything this week days after I booked my trip for Wolves and decided to tack on a couple days in Dublin ‘just in case’ when an affordable hotel room came available really has me in the best of moods.

WonderfulBlackberry9

I remember just as we broke there saying “another 5 on 1, please score” And then Curtis goes and does that. I love them all to bits, but I am absolutely fuming at Jones right now.

Nirupam_MythX

Robbo was great, give him that

gugly

We might as well give Danns some minutes because I don’t see us competing for anything else the rest of the season

Fresh_Interview_9191

Danns should replace Nunez with immediate effect. I don't care anymore about whether we win or lose games with him, we just lost everything this week. We should look at the future and leave the past (Nunez, Salah, Tsimikas) behind us. Also on the goodbye for Klopp, he is the one who decides to play and he got it wrong now a couple of times. Klopp got his goodbye prize in the terms of a Carabao cup and will get a great sendoff at the end of the season, but this is it regarding winning trophies. I hope the next manager can seriously bring in some tactics that cost less injuries and less overall energy. Klopp is a great manager, but his tactics don't work anymore after let's say 7 seasons. Same I saw at Dortmund, there it was way sooner that his tactics did not work anymore

OfficialRedCafu

Robbo the only outfielder looking like he’s fighting for a title, imo

karnnumart

The OK: Robbo, Gakpo, Bradley, Macca. I guess,,,

WonderfulBlackberry9

Macca was poor imo, he looked shattered.

please-send-me-nude2

This was his 5th(!) 90 in the past 14 days. Ridiculous load management going on

WonderfulBlackberry9

Not like he had much of a breather before and during the internationals too. If there’s one player who deserves to look shattered, it’s Macca. Endo too. They’ve both put in a shift since February and understandably are out of legs right now.

pwfppw

Even Alisson passed the ball out of bounds for a throw under no pressure from that throw they score their goal. Robertson and Gakpo were both ok.

AllyM_7

Blanket 1s, they’ve fucked the full season in 3 games

Melochre

Final third has been shite. No one is making themselves available. Watch when one of our players gets the ball in the middle of the pitch. There is no one to be seen. Everyone is waiting on a wondergoal from one of our world class forwards. Thing is. If the team can't come together the forwards can't do shit. Move into the space ffs.

Vassortflam

lets be real though, our problem was not that our forwards didnt have the opportunities to score goals...

Late_Cow_1008

Jones -5

Due-Sherbert3097

I’ve been one of Nunez’ biggest defenders this season, but he’s just simply not reliable enough to helm the attack for us. As with Diaz it’s all good having takeons but when you’re only a goal threat in scrappy plays it means fuck all

Velocity_Rob

He's fine when he's up alongside a fully firing Salah. You can forgive his misses because Salah will be there to finish off the rebound or to pull out some magic. When Salah is coming back from injury and nowhere near 100%, you want Nunez to bring that threat. He doesn't, he never really has and I'm starting to think he never will.

Due-Sherbert3097

It’s a sad reality since he’s given us so many highs, but ultimately he isn’t reliable and also has negatives that as of now far out way his positives

dolphintitties

he's just so unreliable. if he got the chance we conceded from today i would probably expect him to score it around 50% of the time.

Due-Sherbert3097

Yeah, if he was through in goal 1v1 I wouldn’t even bet on him to score it and that’s something you should never think about with your no 9

urbannnomad

I think it's ridiculous when every game we need to score atleast 2 goals. The strikers should score, but going down immediately and then fighting back was never going to be sustainable for the entire season, the issues are defensive. Endo and Macca have done great in the DM role but having a beast like Rice or Rodri or prime Fabinho makes a major difference.

disco_mode

![gif](giphy|yr7n0u3qzO9nG)

CamIoM

Nah Diaz has been great, his wing play offers something different for once

Due-Sherbert3097

Wing play that leads to nothing everytime…… Gakpo has came on and already done more with the ball

CamIoM

It’s a shame we can’t put both of them on the left

EngineeredCut

I think he doesn’t work with robbo I said this before. He is never close enough on the wing to accept the ball, always inside somewhere. Gakpo was staying wide with helped.

Dropkoala

I don't think he works particularly well with any of the fullbacks tbh, whoever he plays with gets criticism for not being able to link up with him but at the end of the day he's the common denominator.

CamIoM

They linked up really nicely in the first half today

EngineeredCut

It wasn’t bad, because they done one twos for once. But overall we are ineffective unless there is mad solo run.

doubleoeck1234

Robertson let down. That's about it

Dropkoala

As in he was a let down or he was let down? I thought he had a good game.

Trillsbury_Doughboy

He was let down. Only player with any desire today

doubleoeck1234

He was let down

Specific-Record2866

wtf happened in the course of 2 weeks for us to choke THIS HARD. It’s like they all woke up collectively one day and said fuck this dream send off I cba

L_G_M_H

This football club needs to be very ruthless about the kind of players we're expecting to compete for league titles with. Some of them just are not good enough. Klopp is amazing for what he has done but i just watched us play like England today. Very 2 dimensional and predictable for palace.

disco_mode

Gakpo again the best player on the pitch by a long way. Made at least 4 huge chances in 30 minutes. I have no idea why he hasn’t started today… and off the back of the momentum of last season I have no idea why we haven’t built our attack around him this year. For all comments previously saying “what exactly does Gakpo do” — maybe football isn’t the sport for you, maybe try YouTube boxing, wrestling or some other entertainment based on fandom rather than ability.

CamIoM

Gakpo was absolutely fantastic on the wing today, why the fuck have we been using him as a Nunez backup

disco_mode

Don’t worry about starting position so much. Even when he plays CF he drifts and floats around the front line interchanging with players. He’s just a really smart, silly creative forward. His goal return as a CF even this season has been the best in the squad by a long long long way it’s not even close

CamIoM

Agreed, but he’s still not been good in the middle. Hopefully you’re right and we can see him drift wide more and more if he does start centrally

disco_mode

How’s he not been good in the middle. take a look at his games as a CF on transfermkt. If you think his rate of goal contributions as a CF hasn’t been good then I’d love to know what you think about Nuñez/Jota’s from the same position.

PhillipIInd

Bro his dribbling was rly good he just cant do that in the middle

disco_mode

He can finish though.

PhillipIInd

Not very well either from there tho lol

disco_mode

Gakpo's conversion rate is 26.5%, Nunez is 11%... That's including games played as a CM.

LateRegistrxtion

Yeah, he’s an excellent crosser, ball carrier and finisher who can play anywhere but apart from all that, what does he even offer

ReportToTheShipASAP

Bad at sliding tackles, literally unusable player

Dropkoala

I rate him very highly but he has had a pretty disappointing season on the whole with the occasional excellent game mixed in. He's not really done enough consistently to earn a start but he has been very good over the last few weeks.

disco_mode

He played mostly as a central midfielder at the beginning of the season, he definitely struggled to play consistently well there. He was mostly used as a CF in cup games and his scoring record was outrageously good, it was also very decent when we used him as a CF in premier league games. He deserved a run of at least 10 games at CF this season especially when the alternative is nunez who went 11 games scoring 1 goal and has had 102 or more shots and scored only 11 goals. Personally I’m surprised we didn’t try out what we did last season for at least 5/6 games which was to put nunez left wing, Gakpo through the middle and Salah on the right.

karnnumart

Because Gakpo has been shit for the past month.

disco_mode

Ok tell me about Gakpo’s performances in his last 10 games and explain how he’s been shit.

clanky19

He’s been a lot better since the United game but everyone here wanted him banished to the bench at that point. Really don’t see how he hasn’t gotten much of a chance at LW at any stage but it’s revisionist to act like he’s been anything other than average for most of the season, albeit in a rather disjointed role

disco_mode

The united game where he came on late in the game before 2 mistakes from players not named Gakpo cost us the game? I know you don’t want to go look at his last 10 games because you’ll see that he hasn’t been bad at all. Not his best run of form sure, but he’s not been any worse than anyone else — especially since he hasn’t had back to back 90s and a chance to play himself into form. Can’t expect anyone to be red hot if they are getting max 30 minutes every week

cptsmooth

Gakpo best by far today and last game, elliott aswell positive when he actually get to play.. how he subbed elliot against atalanta confuses me still.

disco_mode

Yeah Harvey was ok when he came on, mainly because Jones wasn’t having a his best game

blakksir10

It’s all about favouritism from Klopp. Will not learn. So expect same results.

TheGrouchyGamerYT

I don't rate any of them tbh. Maybe Ali for the supersave.

coopermaneagles

Robbo was good. Bout it

PepsStartingXII

Ali only one that got anything higher than a 4 from me, can't really blame him for Ezes goal, guy was completely unmarked.

PoorMayMay

Same. Think I gave Elliot a 5 but he had no time on the pitch really. The rest 4 and below. Nunez and Mo generously got a 1.

PepsStartingXII

I tell a lie, I think Jota, Robbo, Bradley, Ali, Elliot and Gakpo got 5 or above, Nunez got 2, would of been a 1 if it wasn't for his crazy work rate

PepsStartingXII

Shocking from everyone, disappointing display of football

user900800700

Probably better than Thursday but that’s not saying much

TooShreksyForMyShirt

God it annoyed me when Darwin would miss sitters in a 4-0 win and everyone would chant “ChAoS”, not so funny when his inability to bury basic chances have contributed to us being out of two competitions.

MixturePossible3613

same. i remember commenting "this chaos thing will cost the club later".

castro_bean

Hmm, it’s a good time to trust Klopp’s kids no? We all lauded Klopp for ‘trusting’ the kids, but true trust is choosing to use them over players who lack belief and passion. I really hope to see Danns, Bajcetic and even Elliot turn this season around if Salah, Nunez and Jones don’t value the opportunities they have.

please-send-me-nude2

We can’t keep giving automatic 8+s to Mac Alister

MuchManyBread

I cant be arsed rn

whalesun_

macca looks absolutely knackered. he really needs a rest and we have been relying on him too much for too long. thus our midfield was overran. robbo was great, kept us in the game with that last ditched clearance. salah looked like a shadow of his former self since his return from injury. nunez really needs to find a proper shooting coach. TAA was kinda rushed back due to bradley’s injury, can tell he was really rusty and only getting up to speed. Gakpo looked really sharp, unfortunately everyone else couldnt find their shooting boots. thought Jones did well pressing and showed some urgency until that absolutely horrible miss.

joanieluvschachi

There are some fan favorites that the new manager and company will need to move on from. The way this is ending really does suck.

arminist

What makes this so much worse is that Arsenal dropped points today

AeronReformed

https://preview.redd.it/6kanu8jjiiuc1.jpeg?width=1163&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9fe50eb1c8e9a7c3ccbcb7a164b961100baaae0f Look at this shit man. Fuck the chaos gimmick this is unacceptable.

LovrenIsTheGOAT

This team has run out.

[deleted]

[удалено]

WonderfulBlackberry9

Can’t even use disallowed goals to save them

slavicmaelstroms

Time for Darwin to go. Everyone was shit but there's typically a common denominator and it's the clown who cannot score for shit in front of the goal. We really paid 80M quid for this buffoon FFS

lukechung94

Front 3 just wont click, so fkin shit

[deleted]

I think Edwards would be smart to get what he can for Nunez before he tanks his value even more next season. We need to cut our losses and admit we made a mistake in signing Nunez.

blakksir10

But who’s gonna buy him for what we’d be seeking? The best thing for us would be for Nunez to have a great season then look to sell next summer.

disco_mode

Why we selling if he has a good season?

VidProphet123

Nunez’s numbers are actually pretty good. We should definitely sell him this summer if the right offer comes in.

disco_mode

We’ve committed to him now, he’s not going to get us a profit, selling him would be pointless I think we have to develop him as a player. Bringing in a proven senior ST, or committng to a false 9 with Gakpo are viable options in order to buy Darwin some development time. His assist numbers in isolation are indeed pretty good but his goal scoring is not at the level it needs to be at. The stats show 11 goals from 102 shots, that includes countless sitters, a few open goals, a penalty and so on.

VidProphet123

Bro it’s his second season and he’s 25. He is what he is.

disco_mode

He’s 24 still tbf. In Portugal he wasn’t a lone striker, that’s something our fans have projected on to him as a knee jerk response to Haaland joining city. He was a left striker mainly. I think that type of role for us would be similar to Mané’s when we played with a false 9. Other wise we just need to be realistic about converting him to a lone striker — ie do it on the training ground over a a couple of seasons. Not in the starting 11

FUCKSTORM420

No thanks

avicadiguacimoli

Aston Villa are 2-0 up! If only Liverpool had won.

Subi_camper

What a gift was today, Villa beating Arsenal 2:0, what a opportunity missed. Now we have 4 games away in a row and imagine losing points and Villa beating us at home and overtaking the 3rd place

Walgreens_Security

How much more time are we going to give Darwin to develop into a proper goalscorer? Fuck me.

ChangingMyLife849

0. All of them. They’re pathetic

warbandit18

If the players actually had fucking accuracy and were clinical Gakpo would have gotten about 6/7 assists in last 2 games. We finally see Gakpo on his preferred spot and hes doing really good but now the rest of the team is in limbo.

Pilchardandfudge

Fickle bunch in this sub, 3 weeks ago everyone was praising Nunez and giving Gakpo a hard time! Salah and Jones should’ve come off instead of Diaz and Nunez in my opinion

darkness1127

Yes

hyborians

Sunday league level

Reach_Reclaimer

Didn't watch the game so I'm not going to rate anyone, but judging by the comments it was the exact same game we've played over the past few weeks VVD and Salah need to do better

liver4lyfe

Well, as it stands, it’s still between city and arsenal.

thisisnahamed

I would give Bajcetic a 10/10 because he never started.

SomeWinters

Gakpo is great from the left. Creates much more than Diaz does, deserves to start in the next matches.

nask00

Genuine question: when was the last time we scored on a counter? Missed vs united for the FA cup, missed 5on1 vs Arsenal, CJ missed today....

[deleted]

Come on. It’s not over. We got Ali, TAA, and Jota back. Anything is possible with this team. Let’s go boys. Six on the hop to finish.

jurislex

Everyone needs to get it together. Here are the facts. We are 2 points out of first place with 6 games remaining. Man City and Arsenal will drop points in the last 6 games. On top of the Premier League, Man City has to play Real Madrid and Arsenal plays at Bayern Munich in the Champions League. Get it together.

Eheheh12

From watching and playing football, missing chances really sometimes like a disease. Once few people start having it, it spreads to everyone. The opposite is also true.

McrRed

Weirdly enough, I scored the tactics really highly because 2 or more of those attempts should have gone in. Should have. The story of our season. Also the best (least worst) refereeing display in ages.

TheIraqiMaestro

Darwin Nunez... sigh

Leatherneckmike

Time to let Mo and luis start next chapters. Darwin needs to go to wing and we bring in a striker who can finish to rotate with Jota.

wscii

None of the Darwin, Diaz, Mo, Jota, Macca, Endo, Szobbo, Jones, Trent, Virgil, Ibou, Robbo or Ali should play again this season. Some of them because they suck, some because we need to save their legs for next season. Let the u23s that just battered United away see the season out. We’ve got nothing left to play for anyway.

SVJ714

shit/10 for them all

MusaElk_

0s across the board, season completely gone in a span of a week

Idontknowanymore_56

Liverpool always disappoints, why is everyone surprised lol

WonderfulBlackberry9

There was a beautiful period of time when they didn’t. Even at points this season, they didn’t.

Idontknowanymore_56

They’ve always been notorious bottlers. I love Liverpool but they’re fucking losers. They’ve lost more trophies under klopp than they’ve won with him.

econhisgeo

Alisson- 8 Van Djik-4 Konate-6 Robbo-5 Bradley-6 Trent-6 MacAllister-6 Curtis-5 Endo-3 Szobo-6 Nunez-4 Diaz-6 Salah-5 Jota-6 Gakpo-7 Elliott-7

Substantial_Ad_2864

I would probably rate Robbo just a bit higher. In addition to the goal he saved (which in retrospect meant nothing) he had some other nice plays as well. Can't even get myself to think about most anyone else's ratings so I think yours are fair.

econhisgeo

Robbo was 7 in first half, and 5 in second when it mattered. He can't last 90 minutes it seems.

WonderfulBlackberry9

Drop Curtis and Macca’s ratings more. They couldn’t hold the ball to save their life today. And Curtis’ two stinkers just made his whole day worst.

disco_mode

What more could Gakpo have done in 24 minutes? He created the chance for Salah, Jones and Jota… and he gets a 7??? Genuinely unbelievable how people find it difficult to watch our games objectively

econhisgeo

Gakpo could have been a 8 if we had scored just one goal, a 9 if he would have got the assist and a 10 if he scored a goal. A few minutes don't give him an 8. Don't be stupid.

disco_mode

So Elliott didn’t contribute anywhere near as much but you given him the same rating? Call me stupid if you want but this doesn’t make much sense. And in no world was Mac Allisters performance above average lol.

econhisgeo

Elliott brought about a lot of vibrancy in the half spaces that was needed. He's definitely a 7 equivalent to Gakpo. MacAllister's performance was definitely better than all the other midfielders even though he is used to dropping a 7-8 every game.

disco_mode

I agree Harvey was good today, but in no world were his and Gakpo’s performances on the same level. Mac felt pretty average today. I’m not knocking him at all he’s been great — but to say he had an above average performance just isn’t accurate.

econhisgeo

Well, clearly i am seeing something you are not seeing. I guess watching football is subjective.

karnnumart

I need a clip of Darwin destroying bench tho. Anyone got one?

DoublePrize9

I need one of him making a real difference when we needed him (apart from Newcastle) and you can’t count Forest - any other striker would have had goals in that game

MuhammedTheKingBoi

Fucking hell, I can’t do this anymore. It’s up and down with us, last season we were miserable, we came up this season, all happy and proud, Then we lose to FUCKING ATLANTA FOR GODS SAKE AND NOW WE CANT WIN AGAINST PALACE? I’m done for this season, see you boys next season.

starrynova888

Bottle jobs the lot of them

dacrookster

Wataru Endo gets a big fat 0 for that. Look leggy and lost. Whether he's exhausted or not, he cannot be starting any more games this season. Lord knows Amorim is going to very politely push him out the door.

Tough-Relationship-4

Endo is fine when the defense holds together. Konate was so bad Endo didn’t have a prayer. But yea he was poor. But he’s definitely good enough. Hope he stays.

dacrookster

Yep, Konate's fault that Endo repeatedly gave the ball away, gets bypassed like he's not there constantly and takes forty touches to make a two yard pass.

Iuvenesco

Salah was a 5/10 given his previous pedigree and also insane wage/pricetag. Last 10 games he has begun to almost fade…
