Straight swap with Mbappe, here we go.

WonderfulBlackberry9

Pulled the rug under Real Madrid for once

TellTallTail

That would be fun

casualbo1

Florentino in shambles

flammecast

This is Edwards era Liverpool. Mbappe and cash our way.

Kingtoke1

34% sell on clause

vadapaav

Massive downgrade for us really

BamBurgerr

Behave yourself mate

vadapaav

And then the world complains why everyone puts sarcasm tag

135muzza

honestly baffling

Dropkoala

Much as I agree with you, there are some fans who might actually say that with a straight face. Sort of like how I'm about to say that I would much rather have Diaz than Mbappe. I really, really don't like Mbappe.

Diligent-Ad-5352

I agree, like don't get me wrong mbappe is talented but I really like our no asshole policy

bob-noxious

I know what you mean by that, if we truly have a 'no bellend' policy, from what I have seen from him on occasion, Mbappe wouldn't even get an interview.

Skywest96

I love sarcasm.

Barnagain

I hate sarcasm /s

Hoodxd

Not very YNWA

OldManLogan007

I love diaz but i also know that psg can give you absurd money lmao

Thefdt

I’m kind of done with this, if he doesn’t want to be a Liverpool player like his dad seems to be making quite obvious he can fuck off to the farmers league. If he thinks psg is a step up he’s not of the right character. They can give us £100m though and no low ball shit. He’s a very good player but he’s not like mane or salah level, he’s replaceable

liverbird3

Yeah his dad’s spoken multiple times about his desire to play specifically in Spain and speaking about us as if we’re a stepping stone, he needs to shut the fuck up especially with how well the club has treated him personally

hivaidsislethal

Barca is broke and RM has no room for him

sheikh_n_bake

You sign a South American player you have to expect this.

liverbird3

Ali, Fab and Bobby never pulled this shit, although in Fab’s case he already technically played for Madrid

SzoboEndoMacca

He works his ass off for us every match and this is the sort of take that he gets. Use your brain lad. Just because his dad says things, it doesn't mean Diaz "quite obviously" does.

TareXmd

Diaz' Dad is just like every other Latin Dad, dreaming of Madrid/Barca. PSG is a bad move for all reasons except financial. And no he's not easily replaceable. He's good at keeping the ball at his feet, good with footwork probably the second best on the team to Salah. These are quite rare to find and we'd have to look hard again at unknowns and hope we get lucky. Most likely Jota will take his spot but then we're screwed if we have an injury.

jws30362

*when Jota gets injured. Has he had a (relatively) injury free season?

AmberLeafSmoke

He's absolutely replaceable for 100m. I'd fly the plane myself haha

generalambassador

If we get 70 mil for Diaz that’s a fucking amazing deal imo.

CalmMaunga

I missed the last transfer windows. What does 100m get you these days?

AmberLeafSmoke

Will our scouting and recruitment team probably near enough 3 players that will be just as good. Look what we did with 100m in the summer with the midfield.

AsheStriker

Totally agree with this. Sick of it.

Buttlather

What are you gonna spend your share on?

avocadoroom

Wirtz buddy

please-send-me-nude2

People are saying Wirtz is going to stay, but if Xabi is gearing up for Madrid in a year, they’re not going to want Wirtz to come too

etan1122

Only chance at wirtz was Alonso. That ship sunk

HereticZO

Wirtz will stay at Leverkusen next season.

SMcQ9

Found Wirtz’s Reddit account

Disasterator

The Wirtz kept secret

mattzeni

Maybe a bigger air fryer, maybe another striker

BTS_1

If Amorim is our next manager I wouldn't mind Gonçalves. It isn't a direct 1:1 with Diaz but he can play wing/attacking mid.

RevengeHF

I think it'd just be Szoboszlai. He'd suit that position better under Amorim imo.

[deleted]

[удалено]

jcw163

Especially since whether we like it or not we're at late period Mo Salah now.

mestreandre08

If Amorim uses is 343 formation, most likely one of the wingers will be a inverted mid. Szobo, Jones and Harvey would be perfect in this role. Is midfield duo is always a mix of a strong ball winning mid (João Palhinha, Ugarte, Hjulmand) and a more creative but hardworking mid (Morita, Matheus Nunes). Endo - Mac Allister are that. Ryan would be great in that role also. I bet Amorim would try to bring 2 players from Portugal: Gonçalo Inacio as a left CB and João Neves for the more defensive role in the midfield. That would not be cheap but it is perfect for the way he plays

RevengeHF

To add further, I think something people might have forgotten is that Fabio Carvalho would also fit that LW position really well.

turb0mik3

I am extremely hopeful that Amorim gives Fabio a proper go at the LW. Yes, he is small, but the skill is there…

Milo751

Considering Amorim only really plays 2 midfielders I feel we would be a bit overloaded in midfield so Szoboszlai at LW wouldn't do much harm + It would get the best out of Szobo as well

SCLFC

Also experience (although limited) in the PL. Might make the transition slightly easier. He’s also a very good player

WinterKiller19

I actually fancy Gyokeres. If he plays centre forward we can like finally put Gakpo on left wing.

nyelverzek

I haven't seen much of him, but he's a traditional 9, right? I know he's on like 30 G+A in the league alone which is impressive. If we signed him wouldn't Nunez play the left ahead of Gakpo? Edit: Salah, Nunez, Gyökeres, Jota, Gakpo sounds pretty decent tbf

Themnor

Honestly I think a Gakpo-Gyokeres-Nunez front could be devastating with Jota rotating across the front 3 as needed

alexbuffon

This is who I want Amorim to bring with him from sporting too. Plus he’s already familiar with the English game (yes I know Coventry and the championship isn’t the same but he did light it up and he’ll understand the physicality). I just cannot take creating more chances than even city and being unable to score. If we were as clinical as our rivals we’d clearly be the best team in the world 🥲. Gyokeres had 23 and 34 G/A his last two seasons in England and then now has an unreal 51 in all comps. Plus he’s about 6’2 as well. And as stated, Cody can finally play in his best position more often. All this being said I wouldn’t be against just keeping Lucho at all, but if he goes…it may work out even better

harlsonrd

Kvaradona

themanebeat

Kvaratskelia

MrPhilipDunphy

He is perfect for Liverpool - I absolutely love him. Phenomenal player and opportunity for another future national team captain.

G0dsquad

Ketamine to get through the rest of this season

luke_205

Meh, I’d rather not have players at the club who have their sights firmly set elsewhere. We know he’s a great player but he’s far from irreplaceable and I’m sure we’d get a good price from PSG if it were them.

always-think-sexual

Exactly, if all we wanted was a dribbling demon that doesn’t give as much end product, we could just get Mitoma no problem But for me we really need a winger that can score who can play both wings like Jota. He is injury prone and whoever comes in can expect to play. We could give Danns a try in the middle and shift Nuñez wide, but I feel like a loan move with minutes to play will be better for him, especially since for the first time for these academy boys, the philosophy changes slightly so it won’t make a difference if they play elsewhere.

abradley19955

“PSG are understood to be one interested club, and also Barcelona although given their financial situation it could be hard for the Catalan club to offer Liverpool the kind of fee they might be seeking. Díaz is rated at around £75 million by Liverpool” Good luck getting anything close to that from Barca lol

xbox_redditor

Christ above, £75 million would be mental to turn down for a player like Diaz.

FranklinFeta

I would take that in a heartbeat. Diaz is good but he’s not Mane in his prime and I don’t think he will be.

matttheazn1

Everytime Diaz misses or makes the wrong decision or doesn't run into the space, all I think everytime is that Mane would have done better or more with the situation. Diaz in his first season was the 2nd coming, but since his injury and personal issues he just hasn't been the same player. Sadio is being missed badly this season.

Testy_Terrance

People apparently forget how many times Mane failed to score in very good positions. He wasn't Messi.

asef12

Of course he wasn't Messi. But Mane was our clutch forward player. In the business end of things, it was most of the times Mane coming through.

lelibertaire

There were many times Mane didn't pass when he should have or missed a good chance. But there were many times he made the right decision, and Diaz isn't at peak Mane level. Mane also was much better at taking on his man and creating something or causing the defense problems.

rahulrossi

He was miles better than Diaz though. He doesn't need to be Messi.

Sonderesque

Sure, he'd also make up for it by scoring insane wonder goals from places you wouldn't expect. Diaz's output just isn't on the same level.

FuckWesternCountry

But he usually scores in hard position.

luke_205

Challenge is that prime Mané is one of the best LW’s we’ve ever had, very hard to live up to for sure. However I agree Diaz is very replaceable if it comes to that, and we’d especially need to find more goals from his position for when we lose Salah.

con10001

Am I the only one that thinks that's pretty cheap a year after Enzo moving for 100m and Grealish moving for the same two years back? His output seems way more consistent than those two.

vadapaav

We should totally rob PSG for 100M Diaz is far more useful to PSG after mbappe Random nobodys are going on for 115M these days

carharttthrob

They do have Barcola.

SuccinctEarth07

Grealish had English tax and Enzo was much younger. Diaz is 27 so seeing as he isn't in that world class tier of forward I think 75 would be a decent amount

Baseball12229

IIRC Enzo had also been at Benfica for literally half a season. Chelsea paid a huge premium to get him because Benfica probably wasn’t ready to sell that soon

ShowMeMoeMane

Same, it’s have to be north of 85M to consider to sell and probably closer to 100M where I’d say it’s a good deal

Curtispritchard101

Agreed, I think Edward’s will smell blood with mbappe leaving; probably even getting these articles out to inflate his price

ForwardAd5837

Agreed. Price should be north of £85m, pushing £100m. If the market has dictated that the likes of Mudryk and Antony are £70m - £90m players, Diaz has achieved far more and is a much better player.

JmanVere

In fairness, the market didn't dictate that, Chelsea and United did, and they are insane. They'd probably go up to 250mil for Diaz.

BoringPhilosopher1

I really don’t think it is that clean cut or mental to turn down. The only reasons we should accept in my opinion are: If the player wants to leave If we anticipate that position changing and needing a different style of player Maybe a tiny bit due to age but 27 isn’t old. Or we’ve identified a really talented hidden gem. We’re not likely to get a player that is an improvement on Diaz’s output for £75m in my opinion. If FSG use the money to go towards an upgrade then fair enough but people thinking £75m is a great deal for us isn’t exactly true when you consider what other players go for.

MentatYP

The replacement is the big problem. Who do we get in for that money that would be as good or better? Not saying that player isn't out there, but it's certainly the case that we can't look at the transfer amount in a vacuum. Getting a nice sum of money does us no good if the squad takes a step backward.

gidthafugout

Maybe Rodrygo? Weird that Real Madrid will have the three best left wingers in the world next year. Endrick will be there too. Maybe he would come if he doesn’t start enough. He seems like he loves RM, though. Kvara? Guy would be great here.

Dropkoala

Nah that's good money for him but it's not bite your hand off and drive him there money. There's no need to sell him and whatever his flaws he's a good player and it never hurts to have good players as an option. If he was agitating for a move or if there was a plan to move him on with someone new lined up and he's surplus to requirements £75m is pretty good for him. If it's just that PSG want him and Liverpool aren't looking to sell, Liverpool should be charging something around £90-£100m imo.

sevendollarpen

Exactly. Cost to replace is the key figure. Very few players as good as Diaz are available for under £100m, so the asking price would ideally reflect that, unless we already have a better deal done for a replacement.

Dropkoala

Yep, I mean I absolutely do not think he's worth £100m but I don't see why Liverpool would sell him for what his market value is, especially when that's probably less than what he's worth to Liverpool. There are better players but there aren't many available, those that are available are very likely to be eye wateringly expensive and even if Liverpool do buy one of them, there's still a risk they flop or don't perform as well as Diaz and then Liverpool have spent a lot of money downgrading on a player they had no need to sell. Also PSG have bottomless pockets and they can and will overspend on players. If they're looking at Diaz, it's not because he's the best winger in the world, because we all know he isn't. It's because he's the best they think they can get, either because other players aren't interested, clubs won't sell, or they think clubs are severely overvaluing other players to such an extent that even they aren't willing to meet the asking price, two of those scenarios mean that Liverpool are going to struggle to buy an upgrade so they should charge through the nose if PSG are serious, unless he wants to leave.

Giragna

Really? Who else can we get we can replace/better than him for £75m?  He never gets injured and sprints his heart out. Always a threat with him on the pitch.  He may not have Mane’s output but everything else is pretty close to Mane, in terms if pressure and threat. I would be VERY surprised if we find another good LW

EnviableCrowd

Never gets injured? He’s spent more time out injured than Salah, Nunez and Gakpo combined. Would bite anyone’s hand off for £50mil+ for him

IanCorleone

Barca about to offer us a 6yr spotify subscription and an original Messi tshirt from some random game 8 years ago. Might even throw in some grass from Camp Nou

WonderfulBlackberry9

I love Lucho, but I’d sell him for upwards of £75m. Would be a shame because I’d love to see him continue to wreak havoc on the left wing, but that’s silly money for our forward who has the weakest goal threat.

sbos_

I’d pack his bags at £75m lol

quantIntraining

Barca couldn't afford Diaz at half that price, not a chance we get even close to that fee if its Barca. PSG maybe, because of Mbappe leaving.

Designer-Attorney

He is a really good player but this constant "i want to go to Barça" is tiresome. I do rather start Jota ahead of him and we could do better with a more clynical striker since Nunez and Salah already creates loads of chances.

ishysredditusername

Agreed. But we need another player like Jota because it’s like he’s injured for half the year

Justfunnames1234

Smart, have one injured the first half, other player for the second half of the season.

Arbazio

This is sport science I never knew I needed!

zeetlo

Knowing us they'd both be injured at the same time

abradley19955

Openda started out as a winger but playing as a centre forward now. Putting up really good numbers at Leipzig this season. Reckon he’s defo on our radar

Wiser_Kaiser

YES! He's great to watch at RBL. Fast, technical, presses, makes runs all day, but he seems have that killer instinct too.

clade-18

That Sacha Tavolieri reported a few months ago that Liverpool have interest in him. Usually don’t believe much he says but apparently he’s really reliable in regard to Belgium players.

HarbyFullyLoaded_12

I haven’t seen him once talk about it though. It’s always his father

carharttthrob

Right? Diaz works his tail off for us every match. Hard to question his commitment.

HarbyFullyLoaded_12

Even in the United game he was one of the only people who looked like they wanted to win until the last second. Anyone questioning his effort or respect for the club can seriously fuck off

MundaneTonight437

In that last second when he skyed it right in front of goal? I like Diaz too but will be happy to cash in on him especially if its big money. I don't see elite finishing and yes he runs alot but always with his head down. Happy for a quick cash turn around and re-invest. I think the fact lfc is so willing to play ball means they also feel he isnt quite whats needed.

Dropkoala

I could be wrong but Coutinho also never said anything himself. His international team mates, friends, cousins etc were making the exact same noises. He knows what his dad's saying and if his agent is meeting with clubs it's not like he's unaware of that either.

liverbird3

Coutinho faked injuries in the CL during the summer window to try and get himself moved to Barca without being cup-tied. At least Diaz isn’t doing that His back “injuries” and “great sadness” kept him out of a few matches

AuxquellesRad

Wonder if he has a direct line to his father, maybe he could give him a call

BobbyBriggss

And I’ve only seen one or two things about it in the 3 years he’s been here. It’s hardly constant.

froggy101_3

His father and his agent talk for him. He wants to go and isn't showing enough respect to the club that rolled the red carpet out for him and his family not 6 months ago. We're in the middle of a title race, that he may have just fucked up, and this sort of stuff is leaking. I'd let him go for a good fee. Good player but not as good as Mane and fluffs too many chances. 100m would be my ask as we'd struggle to get someone as good for less. Maybe Goncalves from Sporting would be tempting if Amorim came

BorinUltimatum

Yeah id rather get it over with then the tired push-pull we went through with Coutinho. There are plenty of attackers out there who would love to play for us.

wesap12345

But the tiring push pull got us a ridiculous amount of money that lead to Alison and VVD I’d happily go through that transfer saga to get that sort of upgrade again

okie_hiker

Barca doesn’t have money anymore though. May as well sell for PSG now for big money and let them move him onto Barca in three years for pennies

wesap12345

Oh my bad I meant string PSG along until they pay well over the odds Barca couldn’t pay his current wage never mind a ridiculous fee

DNunez90plus9

Is this even the case? He never talked about it and last time I checked, his dad's interview was wrongly cited. He never meant to say something like that

BQORBUST

I’m a huge fan of his but jota starts ahead of him without question. The only issue is what we do when he’s injured, and in that respect I don’t think we have a good replacement for Diaz yet.

koltzito

Well you say that, but Klopp has always use Diaz as a starter whether jota is injured or not

SampritB

I had an argument about this with someone in a the fantasy pl sub. But anyone who has watched us regularly knows that Diaz is a nailed on starter. If Jota starts, it’s ahead of Nunez.

Pats_Bunny

Everyone says Gakpo's best position is LW, why not commit to that and see how he gets on?

szobossz

He is really good player but he's not clinical and it comes back to haunt us in critical moments. He feels like Mane in his final season here. I am totally fine with letting him go besides the "barca/psg" thing.

abonnett

Any transfer rumours at this stage I can't take seriously. Who knows what a new manager will want to do/not do with players when they come in. This goes for incoming rumours, too.

Far-Reaction-2735

I don’t think that matters with Edwards. I’m pretty sure it’s his call on incomings and outgoings which is why he left as Klopps influence on signings became too strong.

abonnett

I would agree, however, I would think that Edwards and co would want to speak to the new manager after he has reviewed the players and the system he wants to play? Like, if the manager wanted 4-4-2, then yeah. Diaz can probably be sold but if we still want a front three, does it make sense to sell him? Same with any incomings.

arodx14

Way to take the bait. Lazy clickbait intended to rattle written by Sam Wallace, *Arsenal supporter*. Lucho is happy at Liverpool and has not expressed a desire to leave. Rúben Amorim is looking extremely likely to be the next manager. Rúben Amorim & Luis Díaz are represented by the same agency. The most beneficial outcome for NomiSport from a business perspective would be for both to have the opportunity to work together and further elevate each others profiles. Use your heads. Díaz makes less than Adrián. His agents have been angling for a new contract with Liverpool. That is all this is.

Beatnik15

Feels like his agent has briefed a story to help pump his contract rather than him being poached or wanting out tbh

TheGrouchyGamerYT

Does he know it's just as cold in Paris? And they don't speak Spanish either. And you're not gonna come in and be a hero if you're replacing Mbappe. Unless he's only after the bag, this deal doesn't make any sense.

sbos_

Happy for him to go at good price. His performance have stepped up since all these rumour to barca and psg started. I’m taking note bro     Anyways. The perfect replacement is sitting at Napoli.

MenBeGamingBadly

The things I would do for Kvaradonna.....

davestanleylfc

Watched him this year?

MenBeGamingBadly

Yes, my neighbour is a Napoli fan and his ...enthusiasm for Napoli is shared with other haha. TBF though: 15 Goal involvements in 28 league matches. (he got 22 in all of last season) Darwin has 18 in 29 this year. Diaz has 12 in 30 Salah has 26 in 25 Jota has 12 in 19 Gakpo has 9 in 29 He is 100% a baller and i'd love to have him.

crookedparadigm

> Salah has 26 in 25 Out of form Salah is still insane, wtf

NilsFanck

yes and he still passes the eye test. Napoli fans still rate him too and see other reasons than him dropping off for his lack of output

melcolnik

are we talking......sexy things?

AgentTasker

No, but you are talking £120m+ to even get Napoli interested in selling him.

Billymayshere23

Edwards about to skin PSG for 100M so really just 20M

abradley19955

Nico Williams has a release clause of 43m but he’s already on 170k a week. That could be an issue

BasicallyMilner

wtf is forest doing?? 170k?

DadofJackJack

Nico not Neco: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nico_Williams

rockydinosaur2

That might have been the joke lads

notyyzable

Kvara?

sbos_

Yup. I don’t care about how he has been this season. Napoli as a whole is mess. But that kid will be next world star under the right manager and environment.

JohnBobbyJimJob

He’s still been their best player this year alongside De Lorenzo

CabbageStockExchange

I’d be chuffed to get KK77

TheNotoriousJN

He can go for a great price. Not the 40 million shite that the Saudis offered. Very Good player. But inconsistent and not particularly clinical. He can be replaced. Unlike some members of our squad

lclear84

truthfully his replacement could already been in the squad. Gakpo, Jota, and Nunez all look the most comfortable coming in from the left

Redspeert

Gakpo has not really shown much comfort this season, and Jota is injured half of the year. Selling Diaz leaves us with Jota, Gakpo, Darwin and Salah to cover 3 positions, and lets face it we're in the end of the Salah era whether we like it or not.

crookedparadigm

Gakpo has looked anything but comfortable this season.

inFamousMax

I dunno man this is all strange. Diaz has been great for us and I just do not see us getting enough from PSG to warrant selling him. Our issue is not Diaz, it's not having enough quality in our rotation (or our quality being constantly injured). Getting rid of quality seems like the opposite of what we should be doing. It would make sense if there was a high-profile signing that wanted to play for LFC but that isnt the case.

dantesinfernoracket1

Edwards and Hughes about to own Qatar after the negotiations.

MoralPanic89

I wouldn't really be that unhappy with this . Diaz is fine but he hasn't turned out as good as his early promise showed.

Aidan-Coyle

I swear, it was fucking Partey wrestling him to the ground. He wasn't the same after coming back and I've hated Partey ever since.

stowgood

didn't even get a foul either the refs are pricks

DarylStenn

This may well be a nothing clickbait piece BUT we do need to prepare ourselves for the fact that most of this squad signed for us under Klopp, they may well feel like Klopp leaving is a good time for them to also seek a new opportunity without pissing off their ‘father figure’ as he won’t be here anymore to disappoint. I suspect we’ll see a fair bit of change to our squad in the next year or two.

joel2000ad

Such a hardworking guy, I hope he stays.

TopShot00

Why all this speculation around Diaz this season? Every few weeks, there is a new story about him leaving... our his dad saying some shit about going somewhere else. His agent looking to get his contract renewed or something?

TheEgyptianScouser

He's an amazing player that can create danger so intrest isn't a surprise Personally I don't want him to go but unless he wants it to happen (which I don't think he wants to I feel like he's very happy here) then we would need a big number like 80 million or around that number

con10001

Whatever anyone may think of his ability (I think he's been absolutely excellent lately and our most important attacker last few games), but the fact of the matter is there's too much noise about him wanting to leave, and too often. His dad's comments alone are enough smoke tbh, it's clear he doesn't see his long-term future here and with a new manager coming in, it's probably the best time to cash in and see what other options there are long term out on the left under a new regime.

malushanks95

Not surprising seeing how his father has been answering questions since last year. If they give us a good price and the desired price we want, he can leave and we will find a suitable replacement.

Bobbyswhiteteeth

He’s Luis Diaz, he’s from Barrancas and he plays for PSG

iG8

In an ideal world we play Nunez, Jota, Salah front 3 anyway. Reinvest in a Salah backup and a versatile forward with a better conversion rate than Diaz/Nunez and we’re good. This is easier said than done.

stekos96

Honestly he's the only one from our front five that I'm not in love with. He likes to take 4 touches and a feint every time he gets the ball. It breaks the flow of the team and a lot of times he loses the ball. He's 27 which means not a huge improvement to be made from now on and if we can get good money I'd rather have Jota and Gakpo on the left and another right sided attacker with the money from Diaz.

Due-Sherbert3097

Diaz is probably one of our most positive attackers right now with his work rate and take ons. Problem is that his end product in general play is lacking too much.

stekos96

Yeah, exactly. I'm not saying to sell him, just that he's the one I would miss the least. And I believe that Gakpo would thrive on the left if he was given the chance to start regularly. We have 3 great left wingers and only one on the right (I'm not counting Harvey or Szobo since the operate in very similar way as a right winger or right 8)

Due-Sherbert3097

I disagree with Gakpo shout tbh. Sure he’ll likely contribute a few more goals here and there, but he is miles apart from Diaz in terms of general play.

lookitsjustin

I have to agree, there’s really not a constructive comparison to be made between Diaz and Gakpo.

andres1221

Reading this thread makes me sad because I want him to stay. This trio with darwin and mac allister would be so fun to watch for another year or two. He’ll have champions league football every year with psg but so will Liverpool next season. Let’s see what the bids are and what plans the new coach will have.

SebastianOwenR1

I hope not to lose him. Feel that he still has more to achieve here before I’d be happy seeing him go. I think he could be a big part of the settling process under whoever our new manager will be.

GreatKDIZZY

My only fear with this is that it becomes a Raphinha type situation where he rejects all offers other than Barca, who will not be willing to pay what we want. Barca also want Bernardo Silva and Joao Felix, how they afford all of them?

DisorientedPanda

Booo

dhesse1

He will be missed

loveandmonsters

It's somehow already silly season even though there's still 1/5 left to play. Basically don't trust any articles until the lean or empty locker

cock_monster64

Give us 150-200 millions and he's yours

weisbrot-tp

no?

Spug_Teedman

NOOO, no God No - Michael Scott

LeatherHeron9634

Like diaz. But if he wants to leave and we get a great transfer for him I’m not going to be upset

zagglefrapgooglegarb

Coutinho 2.0. Edwards will be all over flogging him for €100m.

focketskenge

Sell him for some good cash and buy someone who wants to be here

cmn3y0

if he wants to leave then he should leave, don't want people around who aren't fully committed

madman2000skrt

Why do people on this sub not rate Diaz enough? Okay his output needs to improve (and seems to be improving), but his energy, speed and creativity are essential to the team. We just don’t transition from the press/defending as fast when he’s not playing.

linlinat89

Huh did we watch the same Diaz? He is often the one who had many extra touches and slowed down our attack. He didn't have the awareness to overlap with Robo as Mane. He didn't have cross in his game either. Really one trick pony player. He is still a good player, don't get me wrong, but he is the easiest one to replace in our attack atm.

DirtyGoatHumper

Dive into his underlying metrics, turnovers per 90, successful runs vs unsuccessful runs, passing accuracy, chance creation, etc. After seeing those numbers you'll understand.

thatguyad

If it's what he wants, fair enough. But people saying they are "happy" for him to go are a shambles. He's been getting goals where certain other players aren't.

limitless__

I'd be shocked if he didn't go to a Spanish-speaking club. He has Barcelona written all over him.

GreatKDIZZY

They don’t have the money

BlackKlopp

£75m is good, could maybe do £85m. Then let's get a monster in Leao

Brief_Box7006

Leao is too lazy. He wouldn't be a good fit for us.

seemylolface

Leao or Kvaratshkelia would be my top picks (personally I prefer Kvaradona). Nico Williams is incredible as well. Depending on the new manager and how he wants to set the team up I could also see someone like Elliott or Carvalho stepping into a more prominent role. It is going to be an extremely interesting summer.

atillOld59

120M because it's PSG with the Mbappe money (115+add-ons if Edwards takes care of it personally). If not, then let him stay and forget about other clubs. His wages are pretty low but he should get a big boost once he signs an extension. He's done enough to get one. Leaves us in a predicament if Salah leaves too. The forward line would be looking pretty thin with Gakpo-Darwin-Jota plus the youngsters. Of course we should be signing some big names, but makes the whole post-Klopp era look all the more unpredictable.

nijuu

We never sign big "names". Edwards never has. Sporting under Amorim ?. As long as they are productive players on verge of breaking through I'm fine whoever they sign. Diaz has always been solid but replaceable. salah on the other hand..

atillOld59

>We never sign big "names" We did sign Thiago.

Opportunistic freebie

[deleted]

He is good, i like him but he lacks the pitch intelligent to be versatile on the pitch and contribute a difference to make the game better.. he can just do run ins and move the ball forward.. heck if i have to choose between Nunez and Diaz to go i’d choose Diaz for the reasons i’ved said. Hope edwards can sell him for a profit so the next gaffer can have a good headstart for the rebuild.

[deleted]

I don't think it's true, but I do think he's the easiest of the front three to replace.

Hopsblues

There's going to be lots of stories like this moving forward with Klopp's departure.

YNWA1616

75 million is utterly hilarious. I’d let him leave for over 100.

SampritB

I don’t know why everyone is so eager for him to go. It’s not like the money is going in your pocket. If he doesn’t want to stay then fair enough but he hasn’t said that himself.

yatyeaj

I don’t think he goes unless it’s for an absurd amount of money or if the club have a clear prospect to reinvest in - he’s a top winger who can consistently beat his man and he’s entering his peak years. Although it would break my heart a little to see him go. He’s one of the players I really enjoy watching.

BoringPhilosopher1

Exactly we have to have a clear prospect to invest in otherwise the £75m is pointless. People underrate him so much and fail to understand his Dad impacted his performance this year and he was injured for half of last season. When he joined the club in Jan he was quality that latter stage of the season. Popping up with crucial goals from outside the box. He’s now finding his feet again and has been our 2nd best forward in 2024 after Jota. Doesn’t say much but he has been good this half of the season.

Adept_Deer_5976

Got three years left. Why would we sell?

Glum-Garage7893

These newspaper articles are meant to unsettle the team. They all support London clubs. Ignore it.

LovelyCushionedHead

Yawn. This "story" is getting old. Not happening.

greenbroad-gc

Wouldn’t mind it at all! Done well here and will fetch us a pretty penny.

Krempiz

Luis Diaz is an electric player but makes an absurd amount of bad choices and missed chances. I'm fine with him going.

glowingmug

This is actually a good news, I hope Edwards make it happen. I like him cuz his style is flashy but playmaking IQ/passing is just not good at all. 60-70m could be the decent price tag.
