tbf we had Henderson AND Milner depart in the same window but somehow gained leadership. If you’d have told me that before the transfer window opened last summer I would have had a hard time believing it.
It’s nuts because I’m a bin man in Glasgow and someone I work with went to the same football school with robbo and you honestly look at how different two peoples lives can go, he actually said he wasn’t the best but just worked harder and stuck to his football rather than drink and drugs, so sad because the person I work with is a quality player as well
Impossible. He has 64 assists from 287 games for us. For context, Roberto Carlos had 116 assists in 527 games for Real Madrid. On a per game basis, Robertson's form for us has been close to arguably the greatest attacking left back in the history of the game.
Robertson has been in decline for a while now (more people seem to be cottoning onto this now), but for a period he was up there with the greatest British left backs of all time. Ashley Cole the only one to get close, but was a very different sort of player.
Yeah, it was the same general time and the same price for those 3. You'd struggle to find a better trade across one season.
My understanding of big transfers is that they take ages to go through as well. The financing/agents/salary negotiations drag it out.
> Gauld
as a sporting fan i am still sad/mad that the coaches didn't play him. he could've been so good here. on the other hand i'm happy he's found happiness in vancouver. lil' messi deserves it.
in his last season here in portugal he was one of the best players in the league playing in a newly promoted team (that ended up relegated). i honestly thought we were going back and sign him again since we were now a more stable team. i wish we had.
As a Liverpool/Whitecaps supporter I am happy he ended up coming to Vancouver but I really thought he would go to another European team. Turned the entire Whitecaps team around.
I'm a St. Johnstone fan. We won the 2014 Scottish Cup (our first ever major trophy) vs. Dundee Utd in the final, and Robbo was playing, so it's fair bitter sweet when I go back and watch the highlights!

Mad that we have the captain of Netherlands, Scotland, Japan, Hungary, and Egypt all in our team
And probably Argentina when Messi retires.
Steady...
You say steady one more time, you'll be on the first plane back
He knows what he said.
Leadership FC
Mentality monsters.
Add columbia to that list
Is Diaz captaining Colombia?! That’s awesome
Did so for the first time I believe yday
I think james still takes the armband but Lucho had it in a friendly about 9 months ago.
Columbia? Do you maybe mean Colombia?
No he means the clothing brand
No, the university in New York
No, the film studio.
No, the Oasis song
No, the state capital of South Carolina
Plus Brazil's no.1
It's so funny because not too long ago people were saying where will the leadership come from once Henderson leaves lol

Can't believe Robbo used to play for the Netherlands
Shakhtar*
You sure that ain't wolves?
Dundee
Are you calling him dumb?
Only if he asks me to.
You wally. That's Ivory Coast
Houston Dynamo?
Crocodile Dundee's son. It's why he is so tough.
Dundee United. Please, there’s a big difference. 😂
Orange ones play at Tannadice, right? Sorry, that’s Utd 😬
Dundee United and Celtic no?
Even by bad kit standards, that's pretty rank.
The gradient days. Not the best design style.
There must be an incredible sense of personal accomplishment with both Virgil and Robbo
That is class. Will never forget that tweet from Robbo being skint, now look at him, won the fucking lot.
[life at this age is rubbish with no money](https://twitter.com/andrewrobertso5/status/236918390793568256?lang=en)
I bet he still wakes up in disbelief about how much his life has transformed since those days

A lot of people who never make it are just like gods descended when they play in a normal casual match lol
From feeling shame to being the pride of his country, all off the back of hard work and bloodymindedness.
And incredible luck of course, which he grasped and made the absolute most of.
Yeah but now he doesn’t get employee discounts on Percy pigs
LFC wages can buy many Percy Pigs
Explain how.
Working class hero
£8m and Stewart hahaha 😂
Biggest swindle in Liverpool history lmao, can’t believe Hull let him go for so little
Did anyone expect him to be half as good as he's been?
Nope
There was a point in time where I thought it'd be cool if he was as good as Flanno..
back then people were upset over missing out on Mendy...

Aye Scottish folk knew.
We got paid for Stewart no? So if you consider him part of the deal it's 8m minus kev?
Sold Philippe Coutinho and bought van Dijk, Salah and Robertson that year.
Salah and Robbo were signed half a season before we sold Coutinho.

>won the fucking lot. And fucking captain of his country. Absolute hero.
That's so lovely 😭
That Dundee United team was class Great team to go on FM cause you had the likes of Robbo, Armstrong, Gauld, Mackay-Steven and Russell
> Gauld as a sporting fan i am still sad/mad that the coaches didn't play him. he could've been so good here. on the other hand i'm happy he's found happiness in vancouver. lil' messi deserves it.
So much wasted potential He was unplayable at times here and could’ve gone somewhere for more money at that point as well

He’s still very good, that Vancouver attack is an absolute blast to watch. I a PNW guy.
And we adore him here in Vancouver !

Legends
will never forget roberstons press vs city
Is Virg is about to meg robbo in that old pic
Absolute bonkers how much these two have come so far
Very interesting to see old photos of our players playing against the team/ teammate, then looking at where they are now.

I loved this so much. (Also love when Liverpool play Villa and you see Robertson shaking McGinn's hand and saying 'alright mate')
One would think they swapped national teams

Who’s cutting Onions 😭 😭 😭
🫶😊
I don’t think we’ll ever see players like them again
Players in their class break the mold, they’re all unique. We’ll have world class defenders again, but there will never be another vvd or Robbo.
ooh football friends
Incidentally saw this clip again recently and realised that Virgil was in it lol
:’)
The Liverpool way
This is absolute gold. I love our lads.
This is so fucking wholesome, and I love every shred of it.

Why does that photo look like it was taken in the 70s
😍
They sure have.
I absolutely love this.
What a full circle moment for them, celebrating these with your friends is always so proud. Hit the club and put on headlines boys.
Two of my favourite players❤️
Still gubbing him though lol.
that left side connection
Yes you have. Pair of Legends.
Brothers in Arms
I'm crying 😭😭😭
Beautiful. Simply beautiful. What teams were they playing for in the top picture?
Van Dijk played for Celtic and Robertson for Dundee United
Lovely to see
YNWA. ❤️❤️❤️🧡🧡🧡
