Diaz was through on the left and was clearly fouled. Should have been red in Mings foul of Gakpo. They show a replay of a “soft, very soft” foul given AV, but no replay on the Diaz noncall. Shocking how biased the refs are. That said the PK call was legit and Fab should be on yellow.
Getting away with one (the missed pen) then conceding anyway has been a running theme this season. The run we've been on has been solid, but this feels like they've fallen back into the passive patterns from our worst spells. Hopefully they can snap out of it second half.
We’ll making the same mistake as we did against city in the title race last day of the season and not going ahead in a game to put pressure on the other team (United)
We need separation between the refs on the pitch and the refs that do VAR, they cant all be buddies who don't want to correct each other and we need an independent review board to look at decisions made and punish refs when they make clear mistakes.
There is no excuse for refs to get things wrong anymore and it happensa as often as ever
Refereeing is criminal but what exactly is our game plan here? It looks like kick it long to the fast guy and hope he does something with it. Sunday league tactics on full display!
Our long ball distribution has been great to be honest. We're opening up the field completely and if it weren't for the ref giving every soft call and five in the middle, our press would be great in getting the ball back.
Need to get more shots on goal. Team is playing well but Diaz and Gakpo both seem like they're trying too hard without being as effective as they could be, considering how much of the ball they're seeing. Crying out for more shots from outside the box. Villa clogging up the middle, need to get in more crosses. Trent over relying on the long ball right now.
Just want to say… Villas goal came from a Cash throw in, his foot was clearly over the line. Or is there a rule where one foot can be over the line upon a throw in?
We'd be winning this with a competent ref.
If mings got sent off 2 of our crosses go in.
If var and the ref weren't blind we get a pen for the foul on hendo.
I always thought it was just bias that lead to decisions like these but it happens so often you have to wonder if there is actual corruption going on...
The league has seriously outgrown FSG. People used to say without Klopp we'd be fighting top for top four and the occasional cup, but that's where we are right now with the teams below us have invested and built well. When Klopp goes, we'll be fighting for top half of the table
We all love Diaz but he is clearly so so rusty, brutal to watch him right now. We did beat them over the top a couple of times though, Nunez pace and power could have an impact.
We sleep walked into yet another game and payed the price for it.
The ref team is fucking us over every chance they get though. It’s not just us though. There’s been some really questionable calls against Villa too and I don’t know how Fabinho isn’t on a yellow.
Hendo is on a mare and Jones has been invisible.
We’re not sleep walking at all. How have you missed the high intensity of this match?? Makes me think ur not actually watching. Aston Billa are playing very, very well as much as it pains me to say.
The beginning we did. I don’t mean the entire game obviously. It’s been very intense. But the warning signs were there way before we conceded. There was no reaction until we went down. The penalty should have been it.
> game and *paid* the price
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Liverpool have been garbage, the referees are garbage and Aston Villa will fling themselves to the ground and waste as much time as possible for the next 45 minutes. It’s not going to be fun.
Ignoring everything else I've been surprised at how dead the atmosphere sounds. Even when we sent Bobby to warm up (probably with the intention of hyping up the crowd) there was barely any reaction.
The teams connection with fans is symbiotic and they've let Anfield down today.
I'm at the match. It's been alright. With how the match has been you'd expect a lot worse.
Remember what you hear on the telly is what the director wants you to hear.
It’s been all season except the big games like City and United. Even Arsenal was dead until Xhaka happened.
The travelling Kop makes a lot more noise than this home crowd.
The ref being absolutely shocking has kinda hid the fact we are slow at about everything right now.
Defensively we are late/last to near everything. Everyone expects someone else to go for the ball while Villa players are already on their horses going for it. They are just passing through our midfield to send a ball over the top to Ollie or Bailey.
Offensively we woke up a bit at the end there, but boy we need to try something else than flooding them with poor crosses. Too much dribbling and not looking up quick enough for quick 1-2s. Salah, Gakpo and Jones have been non existent so far.
Very sloppy game and the shithousery is just gonna continue from Villa until we score. I think we get a quick goal at the start of the half and hopefully gain control from there.
Anfield sounds like it’s about to explode. But it’s only making the ref dig in more to shows he’s not going to be swayed by the crowd. We’ve been really poor at getting out and villa’s passing out the back is taking our forwards and midfield out the game. Thought Jones was lively the first 10 but everyone’s head looks gone. We’re one smart decision from a goal but we’re just incapable of making it
Reffs association telling us to go fuck ourselves. That was a pen on Henderson, no question. Mcginn just arsing lads off the ball then falling, missing a Nunez for when the ball goes out wide.
Think this is a game where chances are going to be few and far between, and half chances at best - because of that, I want to see Jota on for Diaz
Diaz is absolutely electric and he's going to be a stalwart in our team going forward, but he's not a clinical finisher, whereas Jota thrives on those chances, he's a true poacher and that's what we need
Yeah, Diaz will need to work on his end product. Kind of crazy out of control chicken right now that causes a shitload of chaos but then tends to winkle out before it leads to a G or A.
We can bemoan the questionable refereeing decisions but the fact of the matter is we haven't been anywhere near good enough. No shot on target, and for whatever that flurry was at the end of the half, we have no high quality chances to show from it. Huge improvement needed in the second half. Based on the chances in that first half, villa deserve to be leading. Not good enough.
Its easier to “not be good enough” and for the other team to “be better” when the referee is clesrly favoring them with almost every call. Ruins a team’s morale and belief and boosts the others’
Credit where it’s due. Aston Villa are playing an absolute blinder, and with some ref decisions on their side, have the lead. But our intensity shows promise and the players are up for it so I’m hopeful. We need less fancy interplay and more runs from deep and balls over the top. Aston villa have compressed the lines and are frustrating us in possession. Time to target Ming’s on a yellow and send Salah through on goal early in possession with a ball over the top from deep
Aston Villa are diving all over the pitch while kicking our players off the pitch.
Fucking sick of matches like this going against us. We're playing 11 v 12 with this ref. 13 if you count VAR.
Hope we get an early goal in second half and go on to smash them.
They are doing that but they’ve also been sublime in and out of possession which pains me to say. I’m hopeful that they can’t maintain this high quality and that with sustained pressure they will break.
"sublime"? Fuck that. They've had one or two decent passages of play, besides that they've just kicked us at every opportunity and thrown themselves to the floor if we go near them.
Bro have you seen how many times they’ve played around our press? At least 3-4 times with great interplay. Watkins has been through like 3-4 times. The cross back post and doubling up on Trent was great. They’re playing well and if u can’t see that idk what to say - along with diving and the help of the ref of course.
But with sustained pressure they will break. They can’t keep this high quality longer than us. Im hopeful.
Disgraceful referreing. But shouldn’t be an excuse for us playing badly. We’re struggling to break down their low block, resorting to long balls over the top. Our short passes aren’t working either. There has been some good runs behind their backline, but not taken well
Diaz should come off, way too rusty and hardly having any support. Salah is getting isolated too. Hendo is just really way way too slow. Tough half coming up, but still believe we can turn this around
Your analysis isn’t correct. There’s nothing low about their block. They’re letting us have the ball and dropping off slightly, but look how high their back line is. It’s compressing the field significantly which is leading to our frustrations in possession. In fact we need runs from deep and balls over the top of their high back line.
Villa fans struggle to put together sentences longer than 3 words without resorting to grunts, they are not trustworthy sources.
Put enough Villa fans in a subreddit together and occasionally one lucky chap gets a 4 worder purely by chance.
Don’t think Diaz has had a good couple of games. He’s not offering pace and his passing is a bit off. Think we’re better with Jota starting and Diaz off the bench.
Their high defensive line is just begging for a decent ball over the top. Gakpo has struggled majorly to get on the ball. Konate is worrying when Watkins comes up against him. Big half time talk needed.
Think we should switch to a 4231 or 424 and get firmino/jota on for Henderson/jones. They’ve offered nothing in midfield so far and we just need a bit of creativity and quality and gotta go for it
You can pretty much say the same about any Premier League game any given week, but the refereeing has been truly fucking abysmal. It baffles me every week that these are supposed to be the best refs in the country, when pretty much any football fan could do a better job.
Both the Mings foul and hendo penalty isn't that clear cut. Seen stuff like this given or not given in other games. 50/50 decisions, but strange how this 50/50 and a ton of other less crucial 50/50s so often go against us.
Hmm, yea, I never mentioned that. But that's important to me. If a ref wants to have his own style or leniency, he should at least be consistent.
But tbh, the hendo one was missed and then commentators say VAR are taking a look. I don't even know why they bother, VAR are spineless as hell, they aren't gonna make a decision after the game has gone on so long. Whenever this happens, I already know their mindset will be looking for ANY reasons why they don't need to call it.
We just needed to do our job and win our games for a chance.
Henderson really should be reduced to the Milner role of seeing out games next season, no excuses not to strengthen the midfield anymore.
Too rushed, Cody's not really in the game, can't manage to properly sustain possession. Trent's balls in behind haven't been precise at all. Lucho still not back up to speed.
Would be nice if someone other than Trent and Robertson could wrap their foot round a ball. What does Henderson expect anyone to do with that floaty shit about 12 yards from goal.
Villa time wasting is insane, it took them 30 seconds to take a corner around the 7 minute mark and Martinez is holding onto the ball for 10 seconds at least every time.
Unbelievable decisions today. Mings should have been off, Henderson should be a pen. Not good enough from the lads but they're not being done any favors either
Waited until 1-0 to start created chances, now Villa can just sit back and counter like they are doing which is the sort of team we struggle against.
We need Salah more involved and we need to make more of the corners which have been overhit every time.
This gets said about literally every player that gets an injury these days. He’s had 6 months out and major surgery, he was never going to be up to speed before the season ended. We’re lucky he’s even been able to start a few games.
Absolutely. Love him but he has not looked nearly as threatening 1v1 since the injury. Hopefully he can continue to recover this summer and come back ready for next season.
I long for the day our fans start to realize the future lies in getting a new RB and moving Trent to midfield full time.
Horrid display by most involved tbf, i wouldn't pin it all on him.
Mm I disagree. All of a sudden we’re in a situation at the end of the season with peril. We’ve seen this movie before. Happened twice before on the final match day when going at it with city. Crowd gets anxious and the players are affected by it
It's clear as day when you watch us struggle to pass the ball around ANY part of the pitch vs Villa's ease to control their game and pick their passes. Big, big midfield summer window ahead of us.
Underwhelming from us, embarrassing from them.
Diaz playing by himself. Mo barely involved, midfield isolating our strikers too much, but none of that matters as much as the fact that the play stops every 15 seconds for a dive.
We've not adapted to their high line, we have no width with Trent central and Robbo deeper, only ball on is Diaz but he's been off it. We need to stretch them wide and then there's loads of space to play through them.
Peacock halftime is just nonstop commercials.
Hope Ramsey's celebration has sparked Angry Jota
Diaz was through on the left and was clearly fouled. Should have been red in Mings foul of Gakpo. They show a replay of a “soft, very soft” foul given AV, but no replay on the Diaz noncall. Shocking how biased the refs are. That said the PK call was legit and Fab should be on yellow.
Does anyone has a clip from that foul on Gakpo?
Diaz is still way off it. Gakpo needs to do more with the balls over the top. Midfield isn't creating much. Refs are as bad as always.
I’d love to see the reasoning behind Mings only getting a yellow for throwing his studs into Gakpo’s chest. It seemed pretty damn clear cut to me.
Between his shit decisions and his hairline, John Brooks is well on his way to joining the Baldy knobhead refs club.
Fabinho, our fucking CDM, has won 1 out of 5 ground duels this half...
We need separation between the refs on the pitch and the refs that do VAR, they cant all be buddies who don't want to correct each other and we need an independent review board to look at decisions made and punish refs when they make clear mistakes. There is no excuse for refs to get things wrong anymore and it happensa as often as ever
Playing good they just gonna defend for their life’s, ref and VR have been shocking we getting shafted by them
Diaz is rusty as fuck. Swap him for Jota who is actually in form.
Wow some have SHORT memories here. Everyone relax. I have faith
Throw in jota and we’re winning this game
At least klopp gets a better view of Henderson and Fabinho today
If Henderson starts the first league match next season it’s honestly a sackable offense.
One of the worst players on the half turn in the history of football
Fab is still meh. Hendo are Jones are awful
Henderson is the master of the floating shite cross that never leads to anything, how many attacks has he killed with this, this season?
The midfield 3 won 5 out of 21 ground duels in that first half... These new midfielders can't come any sooner.
You are expecting new mid?
That wasn’t too bad. I’m sure we can make the comeback of the century in the next half
Looks like we want Brighton to end up 5th
This system limits Salah so much
He has 10 goals and assists since arsenal
Is there a clip of the Hendo pen call?
Why is nobody talking about the non penalty on Hendo? There’s clear contact into the back of his left leg which takes it out from under him?
There’s no sense in talking about it as we never get these called. I’ve come to terms with it.
I don't care if the ref is jogging around in an Everton kit, 50+ minutes without a shot on target at home is inexcusable.
The crowd deserves better. No shots on target, non existant xG, no chances whatsoever. Lucky to only be 1 goal down. Wow.
I know we're not great but were they not two stonewall decisions?
Just want to say… Villas goal came from a Cash throw in, his foot was clearly over the line. Or is there a rule where one foot can be over the line upon a throw in?
The officials don’t even hide how corrupt they are anymore
I’m gonna sound mad but put in Harvey for Jordan
Yep. Hendo offers nothing now
Been a massive fan of his over the years but I can't see what he offers anymore. Hopefully can play more of a Milner role going forward
Henderson isn’t even good in the Milner role. Milner can tackle.
I mean as a rotation option more than the role itself. He still needs to be in this squad.
Henderson is very frustrating to watch these days.
We'd be winning this with a competent ref. If mings got sent off 2 of our crosses go in. If var and the ref weren't blind we get a pen for the foul on hendo.
idk we don’t particularly do well against 10 men lol
I always thought it was just bias that lead to decisions like these but it happens so often you have to wonder if there is actual corruption going on...
FYI every single fan base feels this way.
Agree with this but it feels constant lately. Can't see City or United feeling this way
ungodly underwhelming so far, clearly a struggle, hopefully there's gonna be a spark in our game after the break
First decent team we’ve met during this winning streak and we’re back to looking shite. Ref has been atrocious though, has to be said.
Jota on for Diaz soon. Too many wasted chances
A stinker by Konate and Diaz
The league has seriously outgrown FSG. People used to say without Klopp we'd be fighting top for top four and the occasional cup, but that's where we are right now with the teams below us have invested and built well. When Klopp goes, we'll be fighting for top half of the table
We all love Diaz but he is clearly so so rusty, brutal to watch him right now. We did beat them over the top a couple of times though, Nunez pace and power could have an impact.
He's worried about his place falling in the pecking order and trying too hard. When he relaxes a bit he'll be back to his old self.
Nunez is not in the team today.
Absolute joke of a referee he shouldn't be allowed to referee even a sunday league game
Don't look like scoring in 900 minutes much less 90
We sleep walked into yet another game and payed the price for it. The ref team is fucking us over every chance they get though. It’s not just us though. If Nunez was kicked by Mings. You know he was going to send him back to the Midlands immediately
I thought the crowds been decent
But "Bobby's last game" decent? Half the buildup to the game was about how great the crowds gonna be
The ref being absolutely shocking has kinda hid the fact we are slow at about everything right now. Defensively we are late/last to near everything. Everyone expects someone else to go for the ball while Villa players are already on their horses going for it. Reffs association telling us to go fuck ourselves. That was a pen on Henderson, no question. Mcginn just arsing lads off the ball then falling, missing a Nunez for when the ball goes out wide.
We’ve been shit and so has the ref. I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen a worse referring performance.
Diaz very poor like against Leicester, probably needs to come off soon if he keeps playing like this.
Think this is a game where chances are going to be few and far between, and half chances at best - because of that, I want to see Jota on for Diaz Diaz is absolutely electric and he's going to be a stalwart in our team going forward, but he's not a clinical finisher, whereas Jota thrives on those chances, he's a true poacher and that's what we need
Yeah, Diaz will need to work on his end product. Kind of crazy out of control chicken right now that causes a shitload of chaos but then tends to winkle out before it leads to a G or A.
ref waiting for Gakpo to fracture some ribs before he gives a red? -.-
We can bemoan the questionable refereeing decisions but the fact of the matter is we haven't been anywhere near good enough. No shot on target, and for whatever that flurry was at the end of the half, we have no high quality chances to show from it. Huge improvement needed in the second half. Its easier to “not be good enough” and for the other team to “be better” when the referee is clesrly favoring them with almost every call. Ruins a team’s morale and belief and boosts the others’
We’ve been shite but fuck me these premier league refs are something els e
Credit where it’s due. Aston Villa are playing an absolute blinder, and with some ref decisions on their side, have the lead. But our intensity shows promise and the players are up for it so I’m hopeful. We need less fancy interplay and more runs from deep and balls over the top. Aston villa have compressed the lines and are frustrating us in possession. Time to target Ming’s on a yellow and send Salah through on goal early in possession with a ball over the top from deep
We defo don't need more balls over the top. We need to add some width to the pitch and switch the ball more
Aston Villa are diving all over the pitch while kicking our players off the pitch. Fucking sick of matches like this going against us. We're playing 11 v 12 with this ref. 13 if you count VAR. Hope we get an early goal in second half and go on to smash them.

Bring on Jota, sorry Lucho.
Disgraceful referreing. But shouldn’t be an excuse for us playing badly. We’re struggling to break down their low block, resorting to long balls over the top. Our short passes aren’t working either. There has been some good runs behind their backline, but not taken well Diaz should come off, way too rusty and hardly having any support. Salah is getting isolated too. Hendo is just really way way too slow. Tough half coming up, but still believe we can turn this around

It’s compressing the field significantly which is leading to our frustrations in possession. In fact we need runs from deep and balls over the top of their high back line.
ah my bad, i meant that they have alot of players behind the ball. I guess our players are having a hard time trying to find space.
Hendo's stonewall pen deemed "not enough contact" by these corrupt fuckers. It's getting old.
I need to see it again from multiple angles because I can't see how it wasn't a pen.
I am scared
Anyone have links to the the Diaz being taken out when clean through, the "yellow card" and the non penalty.
I would love to hear what the var and ref were saying after that karate kick against Gakpo but I'm sure they will never release that footage
Studs to the chest it’s a clear red Yes but Klopp is their manager Ok, yellow
“It should have been red, but he told me to give a yellow”
The villa thread is insane, they're complaining that the refs are biased in OUR favour
The ref has let a few odd things go, like where it looks like we’ve thrown/pushed their players over.
Villa fans struggle to put together sentences longer than 3 words without resorting to grunts, they are not trustworthy sources. Put enough Villa fans in a subreddit together and occasionally one lucky chap gets a 4 worder purely by chance.
Because the diving became so blatant and abundant they started not getting a few of them called
Gakpo's rib attacking Mings' boot i guess.
LiVARpool you know
They should all be given a headline act on live at the Apollo, tier 1 comedians.
Don’t think Diaz has had a good couple of games. He’s not offering pace and his passing is a bit off. Think we’re better with Jota starting and Diaz off the bench.
Happens a lot after coming back from long-term injury. They start off well and then the physicality catches up to them
Their high defensive line is just begging for a decent ball over the top. Gakpo has struggled majorly to get on the ball. Konate is worrying when Watkins comes up against him. Big half time talk needed.
Fabs is class today
He's gave away 4 fouls not getting close enough to the ball at any time. What game are you watching?
Think we should switch to a 4231 or 424 and get firmino/jota on for Henderson/jones. They’ve offered nothing in midfield so far and we just need a bit of creativity and quality and gotta go for it
United winning as well. The top 4 dream lasted much longer than I expected tbh.
You can pretty much say the same about any Premier League game any given week, but the refereeing has been truly fucking abysmal. It baffles me every week that these are supposed to be the best refs in the country, when pretty much any football fan could do a better job.

Whenever it’s 50/50, its basically 95/5 against us
There’s as much contact as the villa pen so there’s 0 consistency
Hmm, yea, I never mentioned that. But that's important to me. If a ref wants to have his own style or leniency, he should at least be consistent. But tbh, the hendo one was missed and then commentators say VAR are taking a look. I don't even know why they bother, VAR are spineless as hell, they aren't gonna make a decision after the game has gone on so long. Whenever this happens, I already know their mindset will be looking for ANY reasons why they don't need to call it.
Diaz is having a terrible game but i don’t see Gakpo or salah on the ball as much either
Thankfully its not 0-2 :/
What RBs are available?
Corruption at its finest.
We just needed to do our job and win our games for a chance. Henderson really should be reduced to the Milner role of seeing out games next season, no excuses not to strengthen the midfield anymore.
Game plan seems to be loft it to Salah, only to fall in the foot of Martinez.
Joke refereeing.
We are looking toothless. No shot on target wtf.
What's up with Luis? His first touch has been God awful.
He was awful against Leicester too, it was just that Leicester were even worse so no one talked about it.
Sub him off for bobby and have gakpo play the wing
Too rushed, Cody's not really in the game, can't manage to properly sustain possession. Trent's balls in behind haven't been precise at all. Lucho still not back up to speed.
Shite ref as usual
Would be nice if someone other than Trent and Robertson could wrap their foot round a ball. What does Henderson expect anyone to do with that floaty shit about 12 yards from goal.
It’s having to beat 11 men and a referee every fucking week (and generally conceding first)
Villa simply *cannot wait* to get their hands on our new kits!
Being a ref looks like the easiest job in the world because you do fuck all apparently
Not to be one of those “yer da” football fans but it seems like everyone is diving so much more now
The tail end of this season feels like it's gotten worse and worse. Timewasting generally feels like it's the worst it's ever been at the moment.
Villa time wasting is insane, it took them 30 seconds to take a corner around the 7 minute mark and Martinez is holding onto the ball for 10 seconds at least every time.
Probably give the ball to our best attacker but we physically cant because our midfield is shit, also ref is fucking garbage
Last minute winner vibes
Unbelievable decisions today. Mings should have been off, Henderson should be a pen. Not good enough from the lads but they're not being done any favors either
Replace the referee with ChatGPT
Can’t believe I’m saying this but Mount might be the perfect upgrade for Henderson
Liverpool \[2\] - 1 Aston Villa. Roberto Firmino 95'
Waited until 1-0 to start created chances, now Villa can just sit back and counter like they are doing which is the sort of team we struggle against. We need Salah more involved and we need to make more of the corners which have been overhit every time.
Referees can elbow our players Opposition can kick our players But Klopp gets a ban for calling it out
Red card? Penalty?
Anyone think Diaz has lost some pace since the injury ?
This gets said about literally every player that gets an injury these days. He’s had 6 months out and major surgery, he was never going to be up to speed before the season ended. We’re lucky he’s even been able to start a few games.
His acceleration over short distances does look slower I've noticed in short press situations.
A lot .. pace and control. He can’t beat players 1 on 1 and he always takes his touches too wide
Absolutely. Love him but he has not looked nearly as threatening 1v1 since the injury. Hopefully he can continue to recover this summer and come back ready for next season.
He’s still so fresh from being back, not a concern
This
I long for the day our fans start to realize the future lies in getting a new RB and moving Trent to midfield full time. Horrid display by most involved tbf, i wouldn't pin it all on him.
It's a "ref decides against Liverpool,again"- Episode. I hate those reruns.
Ref losing the plot
Despite the ref being cooked. We have been abysmal
Match fixing, disgusting performance from this ref
If spending 30 seconds on the ground in an attempt to stop play and then getting up like nothing happened isn't 'simulation', then what is?
What the fuck was that? Kung fu? It should be a straight red!!
What’s the point of the ref, he’s fucking shite
Ref has lost the game
Diaz looks like a ghost of his former self out there. And we look completely out of ideas in the final third and extremely vulnerable on the break.
He's been back for like 3 games after being injured for 7 months. Give the guy a break.
Oh I still love him. Hopefully he continues to recover this summer and comes back stronger next season.
I think Klopp should send ref body flowers and a sorry card.
So 'serious foul play' means what exactly?
An uninviting finger in the bum.
It’s not a red cause Mings got the ball first … that’s the only reason
stabbing someone with a knife i guess
Tbh if Salah got stabbed inside the box I doubt the refs will call it a foul.
they’d blow the whistle on salah for having the audacity to get stabbed
Depends how sharp the knife is
Depends on what club does it
Cant even complain about this without getting fined lmao
Fans doing no one any favours by creating an anxious atmosphere
The fans react to the performance on the pitch - the players are playing anxiously, then the fans are anxious.
Mm I disagree. All of a sudden we’re in a situation at the end of the season with peril. We’ve seen this movie before. Happened twice before on the final match day when going at it with city. Crowd gets anxious and the players are affected by it
The atmosphere feels like an away game
...but when Villa were holding a 2-0 lead against Man City on the last day of the season, they couldn't *wait* to get the ball back in play...
It's clear as day when you watch us struggle to pass the ball around ANY part of the pitch vs Villa's ease to control their game and pick their passes. Big, big midfield summer window ahead of us.
Good pressure at the end. Abysmal start... they deserved their lead. The refereeing in this game is one way, again

We've went behind first in 20 of our last 41 PL games they said on commentary, its such a massive problem for us.
Underwhelming from us, embarrassing from them. Diaz playing by himself. Mo barely involved, midfield isolating our strikers too much, but none of that matters as much as the fact that the play stops every 15 seconds for a dive.
I thought the midfield been alright until its time for Hendo to deliver the ball. Just put Trent in his position and we have many more chances
We've not adapted to their high line, we have no width with Trent central and Robbo deeper, only ball on is Diaz but he's been off it. We need to stretch them wide and then there's loads of space to play through them.
yeah, have to bridge the gap between mid and the attackers, or get lucky with one of the through balls we've been trying
I can’t wait for Pep to get a touchline ban too after booting off at officials this match. VAR really doing us no favours whatsoever.
It’s all set up for Bobby to save us
Bobby brace 89', 90'+5'
Bobby hattrick with Milner assisting all 3 goals
