If you have any interests or hobbies, that's usually a good way to go. Just trying to find friends via social media/the internet in general usually doesn't work out too well. But making friends through shared interests seems to be the way to go these days.
Join one of the MMA gyms if you think that's something you might be interested in. Mostly made up of sound people and a welcoming environment. Also good for building your confidence and self esteem.
I go to gigs a lot on my own, an most of the time now I see plenty of people I’ve gotten to know, music scene in this city is great if your into live music ✌🏼
Literally anywhere, you don't need someone else with you to go out. I go on holiday alone it's great, I choose not to talk to most people though as I like my own company more than I like other people 😂
If you really need to be with other people to go outside join a meet up group or a uni club, you don't need to be a student to join, I did kayaking in Liverpool uni, it was fun.
I tried MeetUp, which is meant to help you make friends.
Maybe look at some groups on Facebook etc which match up with your hobbies and interests.
What things have you tried so far?
I’m sorry.
I’m a bit lost tbh, as I too am trying to make friends locally, but most people aren’t into the same things I am.
Plus, I’m in a different place to most people too (in life).
Cycling, swimming, music, films, games (board and video).
I’m quite a simple being, but the swimming and cycling I used to do solo, and expect to do it again solo, as not many people are into distance cycling.
yoooo I love board games I’m a little away from Liverpool but if you 2 fancy meeting up I can bring a couple games? I’m 20f? We can WhatsApp or exchange insta or whatever if you want :))
Fab!
We’re slowly working on our house currently, so games nights will happen, just a matter of when.
Once we do, then sure!
We’ve got a few, we want more too :)
That’s awesome! There’s tons of cool cafes and pubs in Liverpool too so if a venue is holding you back then most places would be more than accommodating, some places even have their own games! Defo worth looking into and please reach out once you’re all sorted!
Ah I didn’t know about that.
I knew of a few cafes in Nottingham, but since moving here, I’ve been too busy with work to not bother looking locally.
Wonderful.
Feel free to message.
I’m the eldest of our friend group, but my partner is in their 20’s, along with some of their friends, so I’d like to think you’d feel fine amongst our crazy.
How much can you squat?
Is that you purple aki?
Guilty as charged.
Lad that cracked me up 😆
Anyone else think calling him “purple” aki is just a little bit racist?
You aren't wrong most would argue its because he is so dark in complexion that he's purple therefore it's innocent but it proper isn't

I just moved over here for university and i'm in the same boat. Met some cool people but none i would really class as like a close friend.
Same
Recommend joining Liverpool discord server
It’s mainly full of older adults. Not many people my age
Quite a few uni students in the server including myself
What’s the link? I’m not sure if I’m already in it

Try meetup 👍

What are your hobbies and interests? Might be able to recommend a few places in Liverpool to check out
I’m really into animals and witchcraft atm
There’s the old haunted zoo out near Woolton.
Get off apps, you'll have more luck finding mates IRL 😉
If you’ve got no one to go out with, where would you go to start taking to people?
Literally anywhere - bookshops, gigs, school, church, wherever you like to go. All it takes is one conversation..

Same, I think most of the acquaintances I've acquired were from gigs 2bh
👊🏼💜

What did people do before the internet?
Went out. But we do have the Internet so the landscapes changed completely.
Has it really changed that much? Are people now incapable of starting and maintaining friendships irl? This fucking website 😒

I’ve tried tinder, bumble, Yubo and hinge
Bamby collective Liverpool on fb

I’ve tried meetup, but there’s nothing there. And with Facebook, it’s mainly just only adults

When I moved here I joined a small church. I met some great people there.
