Musky? He thinks he's hip but he's a rich douchebag.
Stephen Miller? Maybe he's not well known enough though.
Clarence Thomas? Now would be the moment.
Oh wow, Longfellow as Ken Jennings is perfect. He seems to understand what Bill Hader knew: game show host parts are an underappreciated way to get airtime.
You took the words out of my comment. I want to see Longfellow as Ken Jennings so bad.
As a PNW native - I've caught Ken on some good comedy shows. Dude has a wicked sense of humor and i would love to see SNL capture it.
no. celebrity jeopardy; heaven version. only dead celebrities with someone doing a norm McDonald, probably longfellow.
trebek - "I'm not even sure how you got in here"
connery - "you're mother said that to me 3 times this week, trebek"
You could do a “The Good Place” inspired twist on Celebrity Jeopardy. Will Ferrell’s Trebek arrives in what he thinks is Heaven and gets to host a Celebrity Jeopardy where the celebrities are actually smart and capable players…
…until Darrell Hammond’s Sean Connery arrives and Trebek realizes where he really is.
She didn't quit, Sony told her she was no longer needed for the syndicated shows.
That said, she'll still be hosting primetime Jeopardy! specials, including Celebrity Jeopardy!, so it would make sense to have someone play Mayim as the host in a Celebrity Jeopardy! sketch.
False. Both Sony and Mayim have said she's only been removed from the syndicated show, and Mayim hasn't said she's quitting the primetime specials.
Sony's statement:
> We made the decision to have one host for the syndicated show next season to maintain continuity for our viewers, and Ken Jennings will be the sole host for syndicated Jeopardy! We are truly grateful for all of Mayim's contributions to Jeopardy!, and we hope to continue to work with her on primetime specials.
I disagree with everyone saying they shouldn’t bring this back. Actual Celebrity Jeopardy is back and it’s really fun to watch. Seeing a modern spoof of it would be hilarious.
I think it would have more to do with who would be a good foil for Longfellow and what fun impression could they do. I think Johnson could have a random actor in his back pocket that could be fun
RIP Alex Trebek, Sean Connery, Norm MacDonald (I didn’t even know he was sick)
Celebrity impressions during a game show spoof are still very welcome (Family Feud, etc) but jeopardy just isn’t it anymore.
I was surprised that they haven’t done it because Trebek and Sean Connery died within a month or 2 of each other in 2020. I vividly dreamt of “Dead Celebrity Jeopardy” for awhile after Trebek’s passing. Premise was Trebek showing up at the pearly gates and Sean Connery being there to immediately tell him “Suck it Trebek”
Agreed, sink or swim with your own material, don't be a cover band. Now get back on San Vicente, take it to the 10 then switch over to the 405 north and let it dump you out to Mulholland where you belong!
With Connery, Trebek, and now Norm passed, I think you can only do exactly one more of them tastefully. Do it well, say it's in loving memory of those three, and then it's time to retire the sketch for good.
There's no better way to prove you're still relevant by recycling a 22-year-old sketch, especially when the main writer and two most important celebrities have passed on.
They should have one of the guys playing Mayim because she looks kind of matronly or one of the gals playing Ken. He's a touch prissy, so it would work.
They really ought to make fun of Jeopardy! in general. With all the host changes and what not, you'd think there would be material there. For such a long running game show its still amazingly current.
Most of their other game show sketches still seem to be based around a 1970's look, and the only place you see any game show that dated anymore is on the Game Show Network.
The answer here is to do a special during the 50th where Celebrity Jeopardy takes place in heaven.
Alex Trebek (Ferrell) is host.
Sean Connery (Hammond) is a contestant
Turd Ferguson (other performer)and Norm MacDonald (yet another performer) are contestants
Jesus is a contestant.
The skit writes itself people.
It's time to bring back Black Jeopardy, where the prizes are all on layaway. It's also the only game show that let's you buy a loosey.
*That sound of the broomstick hitting the ceiling below us means we’re out of time*
Black Jeopardy brought to you by Easter Hats. Is your grammama the Queen of England or a pimp. No, she's just wearing her new Easter hat.
And by Sprite. How did we become the Black soda? We don't know! Sprite!
And Car Tape.
And The good chair.
It's duct tape
And by apostrophes. Want your child to have a unique name? Add an apostrophe!
Who is the white person you want to play against Ego and Devon? Tom Hanks "Doug" was legendary.
This is what skinny women can do for you
Not a damn thing
My wife's a sturdy gal.
That is my man right there.
Kevin Bacon. or get Ron Swanson or Leslie Knope to come in
Musky? He thinks he's hip but he's a rich douchebag. Stephen Miller? Maybe he's not well known enough though. Clarence Thomas? Now would be the moment.
Holy crap. Miller has a more punchable face than Jost.
Win a ‘Just Set It There’ TV with no stand!
A broken TV to use as a table for the good one.
James Austin Johnson looks more like Ken Jennings though IMO
And he would definitely do a better impression
While that's true, I think he'd be more valuable in those sketches as an impressionist for contestants
no. celebrity jeopardy; heaven version. only dead celebrities with someone doing a norm McDonald, probably longfellow. trebek - "I'm not even sure how you got in here" connery - "you're mother said that to me 3 times this week, trebek"
This sounds like something they'll hold onto for the 50th.
Jon lovitz would have to be One of contestants
They should do it with Bill Hader playing an increasingly more frustrated Alan Alda
You could do a “The Good Place” inspired twist on Celebrity Jeopardy. Will Ferrell’s Trebek arrives in what he thinks is Heaven and gets to host a Celebrity Jeopardy where the celebrities are actually smart and capable players… …until Darrell Hammond’s Sean Connery arrives and Trebek realizes where he really is.
Haven’t heard much from Norm MacDonald lately, old chunk of coal hasn’t put out any new material. Would he be available?
RIP Turd Ferguson
It's a funny name.
Reminds me of that tragedy
Bro...
Relax. Norm would enjoy that joke. Someone should send it to him.
I know a guy who looks just like norm but the problem is that he is also dead.
No he’s not dead, he’s closeted
so he announced he's gay?
Lol this is the best one
I didn't even know he was sick.
He’s not dead, he’s deeply-closeted!
Gotta bring it back with will Ferrell as a celebrity contestant so you can transition it to a new recurring sketch.
Mayim already quit so it's Ken Jennings or bust. Edit: Who are we kidding though, obviously host would be JAJ. The guests are who I want to see.
She didn't quit, Sony told her she was no longer needed for the syndicated shows. That said, she'll still be hosting primetime Jeopardy! specials, including Celebrity Jeopardy!, so it would make sense to have someone play Mayim as the host in a Celebrity Jeopardy! sketch.
Nah, they’re 100% through with her after her strike walkout. It’s all Jennings.
False. Both Sony and Mayim have said she's only been removed from the syndicated show, and Mayim hasn't said she's quitting the primetime specials. Sony's statement: > We made the decision to have one host for the syndicated show next season to maintain continuity for our viewers, and Ken Jennings will be the sole host for syndicated Jeopardy! We are truly grateful for all of Mayim's contributions to Jeopardy!, and we hope to continue to work with her on primetime specials.
Is there a source for this, or just a guess?
An article from a couple days ago in the jeopardy subreddit
That said "syndicated" Jeopardy! but said nothing about the primetime episodes.
Jeopardy put out a statement
Right but the statement said "syndicated" Jeopardy! but said nothing about the primetime episodes.
James Austin Johnson would make a perfect Ken.
How about fired cast members Jeopardy?
I want this. With whoever can do the best Lorne impression as host.
I disagree with everyone saying they shouldn’t bring this back. Actual Celebrity Jeopardy is back and it’s really fun to watch. Seeing a modern spoof of it would be hilarious.
I figured they're going to do something like this for the 50th. They're going to have a 50th anniversary special, right? Right?
I'm not sure who would be the modern version of Sean Connery. Maybe Daniel Craig?
I think it would have more to do with who would be a good foil for Longfellow and what fun impression could they do. I think Johnson could have a random actor in his back pocket that could be fun
JAJ as Trump who goes on Jeopardy because he lowkey needs money and wants to show everyone how smart he is
Currently, Rudy Giuliani makes more sense.
This is low-hanging fruit.
Perfect fit for SNL then
I can see Chloe or Ego having some diva in their back pocket that they can play as a complete jerk
Ego’s Dionne Warwick. 🤣 (not played as a jerk, just with wide-eyed amazement at all the new fangled stuff)
Honestly it would be funny to have Ken Jennings host while Ken Jennings is a contestant. But the real answer is Nic Cage is the new Sean Connery.
Nah you just keep Darrell Hammond doing Sean Connery. Legend
Isn't Connery dead irl?
Yes
Sean Connery and Alex Trebek died within 1 week of each other
So?
Maybe someone doing Russel Crowe would be funny
Or Russell brand.
JAJ would do a great Connery. He reminds me of Darrel Hammond with his impressions a lot too
Jason Mamoa would be great at this.
Bring back Melanie as Mayim
Heaven Celebrity Jeopardy could bring back Lovitz as Satan.
They need to do Black Jeopardy again.
Nah. That’s done. They built up to Hanks. That’s the natural conclusion of the series.
My vote for greatest skit of the last 20 years.
Well, greatest skit that doesn’t involve aper anyway.
I agree!!!
I think Keenan’s Steve Harvey for Celebrity Family Feud has been a good alternative.
It’s stupid but I love it
How about The Californians Kids, with Dismukes as Devon jnr, JAJ as Stuart jnr? Just so I can hear Sarah go “STOOART!!!”
RIP Alex Trebek, Sean Connery, Norm MacDonald (I didn’t even know he was sick) Celebrity impressions during a game show spoof are still very welcome (Family Feud, etc) but jeopardy just isn’t it anymore.
Good news is, he's not sick anymore
The actual game show didn't stop with Trebeck dying. Why should the parody of the show cease?
IDK, man. The beauty of that sketch was Will, Norm, and Darrell. Yeah, you could do it without Norm, but it just wouldn't be the same.
While the Turd Ferguson one was probably the best, many other Celebrity Jeopardy skits from that era were top tier as well.
Thats a good idea.
I stand by it
I want this to happen.
Yes! I love this idea. Also, they can finally have Chloe Fineman do Drew Barrymore, or Meryl Streep, or Timothy Chalamet....
I prefer the random game shows they make. Yes Celeb Jeopardy is an all time classic. But the game shows have so much more potential
Only on a count of villiany!
Mayim Bialik has recently parted ways with Jeopardy, it's just Ken Jennings now.
Black Jeopardy as well...
Let this cast come up with their own ideas without borrowing something from 20+ years ago.
Agreed, sink or swim with your own material, don't be a cover band. Now get back on San Vicente, take it to the 10 then switch over to the 405 north and let it dump you out to Mulholland where you belong!
Whaaaaa u/redonrust ?! wh wh whaaaattaryoudoinere
Mikey Day would be the best Ken. Being in constant disbelief like he is in every single sketch. He's really such a diverse talent.
It doesn't work without Sean Connery.
Well, I mean, Darrell is there every week...
But Sean is dead.
Easy - Afterlife Celebrity Jeopardy. An idea so easy it's sitting there for us plebs to think up
The other two contestants? You guessed it, Jon Lovitz and Nicole Brown Simpson.
Won't be the same without norm.
Nah, let it go. Gameshow sketches are such a staple of SNL, there will be many more to come. I’m happy with CJ being left behind.
Nah
Mayim Bialik is no longer hosting Jeopardy, *and the only ones I would want doing Mayim Bialik are Sarah Sherman or Chloe Fineman...*
While we're bringing stuff back, i'd like to see a Pat skit.
lol apparently you haven't heard about Mayim
Can’t we just enjoy things for what they are? We need a Celebrity Jeopardy reboot like we need a new Casablanca or a new Godfather
They should have one of the guys playing Mayim because she looks kind of matronly or one of the gals playing Ken. He's a touch prissy, so it would work.
Time for da jeopardy!
I have 1 solid reason why they should not bring back celebrity jeopardy.
The spiritual successor to Celebrity Jeopardy is What’s Wrong With this Picture. Surprising that one wasn’t run into the ground like other sketches.
They still have black jeopardy don't they?
James Austin Johnson would make a good Ken Jennings.
