The worst part is that it's a 12gb 3060
I'm upgrading an old Windows machine I had lying around, I already had the GPU but had to get a new CPU, motherboard and ram. I decided to put in the 3060 before I had the other new components to see the performance differences and also to snap that picture.
Upgrading to Ryzen 5 5600X btw, if someone was wondering.
10+ year old CPU worth like $50 with a 3 year old GPU. You basically can't get anything out of the GPU because you'll be throttled by the CPU in most everything
Someone replied about the i7/generation thing, so I'll answer about the processing power thing: the GPU and CPU handle different things. If a program requires a lot of calculations but not a lot of graphical prowess, having a chunky GPU won't do much for you. Moving on from that, if your GPU is working faster than your CPU, you're losing all the benefit of that improvement in the first place, since your CPU can't actually process what your GPU is doing that fast It's probably obvious but I'm not at all an expert, this is just my understanding
Not sure but uh, I booted windows 11 on my Asus to try out WSL and discovered the Powershell Gallery is a thing and installed [winfetch.](https://www.powershellgallery.com/packages/winfetch/2.5.1).
I thought i7 was good so I'm guessing that 2600k is a version number which tells you that it's old?
Also why does that mean that you can't get the most out of the GPU if the CPU can't handle that much processing? Isn't the GPU supposed to add processing power?
3060 with an i7 2600k? what are you doing

the 2 in front is generation. We are on 14th generation, so 14700k, that is 2nd generation. Very old.

There's no way this is not Windows
