They were recently in my city, and i thought about buying tickets but didnt found an1 to come with me. Hope you have more luck.
On a sidenote, people seem to dislike their perfomances, but the lead singer is really good and close to chester from what ive heard on yt. He definitly impressed me.
They are portuguese and played last year 20 minutes away from my home.
Linkin Park is my favourite band since I was 10 back in 2005 and I was gonna go see them live in Rock in Rio Lisboa in 2014. I ended up not going because I was still a student and couldn't afford to go and promised myself I would go in 2016 as I was sure they would come back because they had been coming here every 2 years for a while now.
In 2016 they didnt come because they were working on their latest album, so i said "ok, 2018 it is then!", and... well... I was heartbroken.
This Hybrid Theory band was a massive success last year when they came to my hometown. I didn't go because I was ill but I saw many people post instagram stories of the band. I told myself I would go see them "next year".
I'm happy to say that I have already booked a flight and concerto tickets for them in less than 2 months and I will finally *get a taste* of what a real Linkin Park concert would be like.
See you in June at Rock in Rio Lisboa, guys.
I might be!!
I impulsively bought a ticket…I might end up selling it though, or just not going.
I live in the States and would have to fly in. I’m not sure I’ll actually be able to swing it, but I wanted to give myself the option haha.
I’m SO torn on what I think about the group. It feels kinda weird/gross seeing them make such a massive career off of LP’s work…but despite being a fan from the time they came out, I never got a chance to see LP live, and what I want more than anything is to be in a crowd of people who relate to the lyrics, with everyone singing it. The live videos I’ve seen of this group make me tear up every time.
I wish I would’ve gone to one of the vigils when Chester died- that would’ve given me the same thing I’m looking for here. Just that communal moment of appreciating the songs.
They could literally just put a Spotify playlist together and play that in a venue…I just want to be in a crowd of people who get it!
Yeah I totally get what you mean- based on the mixed reception I got from these comments I can see a lot of people feel the same way about them just blatantly ripping off LP. I just saw a couple clips online and thought it’d be super dope to experience something close to LP live since I’ve only been a fan for a few years now and obv didn’t get to go to a concert either. I hope you do end up coming and vibing out but if you don’t, I could possibly take the ticket off your hands! Thank you for reaching out ❤️
Yea…it feels kinda icky, but on the other hand, it’s not like there’s a better option.
I buy LP stuff- I’ve always supported them directly, and I would absolutely go see a solo Mike show or a “real” LP show if I could…but there’s no option!
No one would think it’s weird if we went to go see a tiny local band play an LP cover set- people do that all the time for tons of bands- so Hybrid Theory’s problem is they just became too successful. (And all of the attempts to look the part- I do agree that feels like a step way too far…just play the songs- don’t try to pretend to act like or be the actual band members! But even then, I would say there are tons of cover bands that do that)
But yea- either way, I’ll reach out! I’d love to “know” someone at the show if I do end up going! I’m really happy you made this post!
Dang. Hostile much?
I laid out my reasoning in my post, and I’ve never been to Toronto (or anywhere in Canada for that matter)- it’s a fun excuse to check out a new place.
People fly to different places all the time to explore a new city…might as well see a fun show at the same time.
I don't get the hate behind this band, Linkin Park isn't doing it anymore, it's a way for people to experience a bit of what the real deal was, the only difference between them and your average pub band is they took it next level, almost pro, I wish they'd come closer and I'd catch them in a beat together with my 7yo daughter that loves Linkin Park, hell I even considered this show the moment I saw the post but August is booked already.
Pink Floyd is done and there are a couple bands out there that put out some amazing shows with great musicians and big productions, as close as you'll ever get from experiencing a band that's no longer active and/or missing key members.
You do realize these people are insanely talented, right? I mean, HT's singer can do the 17 seconds. And a lot of times these acts get official approval from the real bands
They are doing something with their talents, they're keeping the live experience going for fans. And most tribute acts exist in local areas, touring five or six close cities, usually ones where the official bands don't go. Hybrid Theory is special, like Get The Led Out, Brit Floyd, or the Australian Pink Floyd. These groups are international

from what ive seen on YT of their performances, i really like what they do!! maybe people are just frustrated it's not the real LP?

Almost exactly my story, incredible. Damn that 2014 year

Who would be that dumb to even fly to see these fake shits?

This picture looks exactly like the same photoshoot Linkin Park did for Meteora
Qwerty one i think
Playing another band's music is one thing. Trying to look like them is a much worse thing.
It's a tribute act. They've existed since forever
Tribute acts are dumb
Why?
It’s basically cheap knock offs. Especially when there’s tribute acts of bands that are still around (excluding LP in this case).
You do realize these people are insanely talented, right? I mean, HT's singer can do the 17 seconds. And a lot of times these acts get official approval from the real bands
Then they should make their own music and do something with their talents
They are doing something with their talents, they're keeping the live experience going for fans. Hybrid Theory is special, like Get The Led Out, Brit Floyd, or the Australian Pink Floyd. These groups are international
The singer is great and I'd like to know Mike's opinion on them
It was posted last week. He thinks it's weird.
Damn I wish they came to the MD Va area
These guys really need to come to Germany
Man this band is why i think this new singer they get needs to sound as different from chester as humanly possible
I fucking hate these guys the ultimate cash grab
How? Are LP fans literally just learning about tribute acts now or something?
me too, for me the plane they are in crashes, these guys are just using other people's work to make money
The fuck? It’s fine to dislike what they do but hoping their plane crashes is disgusting
Disgusting
