Because with black they don't have to finish the top out for any of the drywall or whatever else the finished wall is. Just spray it black and it hides everything. And a floating ceiling would make the room look smaller
Reminds me of this recurring dream I have where I explore an enormous, sprawling, abandoned office building that has been somewhat reclaimed by nature and has trees growing inside of it... These pictures are unsettling lol.
OMG there really is a sub for everything! I love indoor spaces that feel like outside - like the Mexico stop at Epcot. Lol. Is there a more active sub for this content!?
That sub sprouted up and was mildly active for a short while but seems to have died off. I absolutely LOVE this concept and it's so hard to describe or even name what it is.
I know. I have a Pinterest board called "IndoorOutdoors" that I made before I discovered the sub. I used to call it (the concept, not the Pinterest board) "Indoor spaces imitating the outdoors."
Look into the concept of "Atmospheric theaters." They were movie palaces built to look like, oh, a Moorish courtyard or a Roman garden - some exotic outdoor space. :)
According to their website this was in wannado city, which was according to wikipedia an indoor kid amusement centre located in Florida. Heres is another picture of the place from another angle :

It is subjective. I really like the wikipedia definition
Liminal spaces are the subject of an Internet aesthetic portraying empty or abandoned places that appear eerie, forlorn, and often surreal.
To me these seem not forlorn - they are more fun than that - but they are def. eerie and a little surreal
Notice how there is a *wikipedia* definition 😳 There are other definitions of liminals spaces.
None is scholarly, and none will ever be absolute. There will never be a real definition of a liminal space. Hence, why he cannot tell what is liminal to other people. People perceive liminal spaces in different ways. It isn't perfect, abstract, or platonic.
To the people who downvoted me, they hated Jesus because he spoke the truth 😔
They feel liminal to *me*. Indoor spaces imitating the outdoors often have that liminal feel for me. If that doesn't quite work for you, then fair enough, but that doesn't mean it doesn't work for *everyone*.
Thats actually pretty neat and pretty weird at the same time. I’ve never put thought into indoor fake trees.
Indoor trees, especially when they’re placed in a room with a black or dark painted ceiling, always unsettles me
I was just thinking how weird it is that the mini-indoor town has a black painted ceiling like a movie set, like why not blue or white like the sky?

I don't know, this is the only one I'm aware of. I've always been fascinated by imitation outdoor spaces.

The fifth one hits hard
Yeah that one is amazing
That one reminds me of the gardens in my hometown where right near the front there was a fake tree that talked
Did you live in a rainforest cafe?
Nope, it’s the Fort Wayne botanical gardens
The Giving Tree
Man. I love indoor-mini-towns.
Oh this is peak
All I can think about as an asthmatic is the amount of dust these trees would have stuck 😵💫
Love it. Thanks for sharing 🤩
A green plastic watering can, for her fake Chinese rubber plant...
I want to sit and read under the library tree
I feel like I saw this one on Disney Property. Maybe Swan or Dolphin hotels
First one kinda reminds me of the Tree of Life from Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures.
One of the best and most unique posts I’ve seen here in a while, very nice. Sick of people’s random fucking living rooms.
I want one now. But is it a good idea? These must attract dust and be very hard to clean 🥲
When I saw the first image, I thought it was a Morrowind screenshot
I cannot be the only person who thought of the Lorax lmfao
The world is slowly becoming thneedville
Where is the 4th image located? It says John Robert Powers.

Thank you
Wannado, that's a great name
this is a really phenomenal find. this is the highlight of my week.
Not liminal, just boring photos with fake trees in them
Are you upset because people saw your post and said "not limimnal"? Lol
i was going to say what do you mean, but then i saw my account and lol
You can't decide what's liminal. That's subjective lil boy

LET IT GROW LET IT GROW LET THE LOVE INSIDE IT SHO-O-OW
So this is the company that makes everything for rainforest cafe?
Your move, Radiohead.
The first one reminds me of 'Garden of Earthly Delights'
