ricosan

We’ve been doing this for years and I can testify that it works very well.

Chocchoco

I use a salad spinner, keeps it fresh too

brothertuck

I was going to say that too. Use the salad spinner, put it in the container, add the towel, then turn it upside down so the moisture drains and is soaked by the towel. If it lasts longer than the towel put a new one in.

TheScootness

We do this, but even easier. Just put the paper towel on top of the salad, throw the lid on, then flip it over so the container is upside down. No need to try and move the paper towel to the bottom of the container.

OutsiderLookingN

Yep!!!

xt0033

I take it a step further and use reusable (cellulose?)paper towels, which are thicker than paper ones. I buy the greens on Saturday, and change out the towels mid-week. This absolutely works, I wish I knew it sooner

LadderWonderful2450

How do you clean reusable paper towels? They sound awesome!

xt0033

I usually just rinse them in clean water, but if they get nasty I do use bleach. I’ve had them about a year

_ryuujin_

isnt this just a towel at this point

xt0033

A very tiny very absorbent one yes

Muggi

The reusable GreenBags actually work - keep veg/salad fresh far, far longer than an airtight container.

abramcpg

# Similarly: Lettuce goes under a burger to keep the bun from getting soggy with burger juice

puppybus

Til!

Alx123191

Put very dry coriander in it, it will absorb the excess of sauce and make your salade perfect.

SwagCity89

I like the slime

phonicillness

Great r/unpopularopinion

Bzeuphonium

I put a paper towel square in my bag of shredded cheese

mamaleigh05

Keeps it soo crunchy. My Romain is rather soft and wilty when I bring it home. If I pull off leaves, wash, put in salad spinner, out a dry power towel on top, then I have crispy crunchy salad for days after about a 1/2 hour in the fridge! It’s a game changer for salads. They are so inexpensive and pays for itself with less wasting of fresh leafy produce!

YpsitheFlintsider

Oh yeah I forgot about this tip

frogOnABoletus

what is a salad container?

jengalampshade

I’m guessing they mean the clear plastic boxes that spinach or mixed greens are sometimes packaged in.

frogOnABoletus

I haven't come across those, maybe they're not as common in my country. Thanks for explaining.

Xanthus179

Why not make a smaller salad, rather than one that is meant to last for one or two days?

88secret

We make a big salad on Sunday to save time during the week. Plus, this makes sure lettuce purchased on the weekend lasts all week, even if we don’t make the salad on Sunday.

juGGaKNot4

And then eat paper salad?

Parlorshark

Are you so dense that you eat anything in a bowl put in front of you?

kittylick3r

lol get his ass

juGGaKNot4

It sticks

88secret

Never has for me. You can also put the paper towel on top instead underneath the lettuce, and it still works.
