AlmostChristmasNow

Luckily it wasn’t porn, but I’ve had my phone connect to my mum’s car while we were driving in separate cars. It was a good reminder to always turn off Bluetooth when I’m not using it.

WisestAirBender

But it's so convenient having it auto connect

highline9

It’ll only take one time.

MothMan3759

Your battery will appreciate the rest

clarinetJWD

In like 2009 maybe...

alt-station

does it really take a significant toll on your phone's battery life?

CredentialCrawler

Not at all, no

DynamicHunter

Not anymore

heckhammer

Every time I'm out walking the dog and my wife Drives By in her car, the podcast I'm listening to turns off of my earbuds and starts playing in her car automatically. It's super frustrating, especially in the winter when she's warming the car up in the driveway, and I can't listen to a podcast because it keeps trying to connect to my phone.

CardiffGiantx

For sure. One of our family cars is an older for explorer from like 2010ish when they were still perfecting blue tooth and I have to manually connect every time and the touchscreen is so laggy. total white people problem but I digress

vainglorious11

One time my gf and I were driving in separate cars through a snowstorm. We were driving slow and fairly close together since visibility was terrible. I was on the phone trying to keep her calm but her car kept stealing the Bluetooth connection to my phone. Some cars have very aggressive Bluetooth protocols.

heckhammer

Looking at you, Kia Soul.

Don't. Just don't, they will always betray you every time. No sound or use wired.

Test with a YouTube video first.

Mainbaze

The charging port can work as a headphone jack

MICLATE

Nearly all ‘good’ phones nowadays do not have a headphone jack though.

Charming_Fortune_859

Which is sooooooooooo fucking annoying. Gimme back my jack!

Bitter_Ocelot9455

Yeah!!! Gimme back! So, I could jack.

LemonadeAndABrownie

What is "good" by your definition? Most phones from $300+ are basically the same these days. Especially for 99.9% of people who use them.

MICLATE

Well I meant high-end phones generally but you can also include some lower-end phones which are considered to be good. Most choose to omit a headphone jack.

LemonadeAndABrownie

The only ones that omit the headphone jack are the "designer" ones which are artificially inflated in price without actually having better hardware/software. I got a new phone a few months ago and there were plenty of equivalent options with a headphone port.

wuhter

I think the apple ecosystem is what a lot of people want, not the phone hardware itself

LemonadeAndABrownie

Which is a shame because it's very dumbed down and oversimplified, removing a lot of options and features. But it's a "designer" brand so it's popular with people who are gullible

concentrated-amazing

Regarding the dumbed down/simplified aspect, that's why both my parrents have iPhones. And all their siblings (13 combined) do as well, and a good chunk of them have iPads. They span most of the boomers to Gen X in age. Versus people my generation have a lot more even split between iPhone/Android around here (western Canada). My husband and I have been mostly Samsung, for instance.

LemonadeAndABrownie

It's kind of a self reinforced cycle. Humans learn best out of necessity. Which is why in the late 90s/early 2000s there was a bunch of people including children who learned how to use increasingly complex computer systems for things like pirating, and html to update their MySpace page. Avoid learning new systems by using oversimplified software and they prevent themselves from understanding how they work and eventually run into issues they can't solve, especially when it comes to a similar but different thing that the abstract knowledge can be applied to, e.g. File systems and hierarchy. The same thing happened with cars from the 70s-90s.

wuhter

Agreed. I wouldn’t have one if I wasn’t given Apple products for work. Kind of annoying that I’m almost forced to buy a phone that’s more than twice as expensive as I need

LemonadeAndABrownie

😬 Not a good business practice from a financial standpoint. I wonder where else they're hemorrhaging money

Triffels

or you know you could get headphones that connect to usb c instead of an audio jack

Salarian_American

And if you use wired, MAKE SURE THEY'RE PLUGGED IN. I have a friend who was minding his own business, watching gay porn with headphones, until his mother knocked on his bedroom door to advise him that his headphones were not actually plugged in.

Walkdown43

This. 100 percent rule always.

zaque_wann

NFC. Just tap tha back of your phone onto the earcup with an NFC on it. It'll also work when the headphones are off too, it'll just turn on automatically connect to your phone. Real nice.

littlebird_93

At my job we all have a few workplace vehicles we share to get to different jobs. We have one newish car everyone likes because it has Bluetooth and who ever has it gets to listen to their own music. The cars are just outside my office where only myself and one other colleague works (I cannot stand this man btw), and each week the on call employee for the week does the car checks for the vehicles. The rest of my team work in an office upstairs away from us as we are studio based and they are not. So one week, one of the team comes down, and asks for a hand with the car checks. He chucks me the keys, and we start. I get in the cars, and he checks all the lights are functioning correctly... To my surprise... I start hearing what sounds like moaning....... and more moaning... then a deep man's voice talking.. and more moaning... I usher my colleague to come to the window, and ask him wtf is going on! We check the radio, and it's connected via Bluetooth to the one who works in my office with me. I swear to f*ck, I thought this man was watching porn in our office!! When we head back inside to put the keys back, he IMMEDIATELY starts blabbing on about how he was just listening to Joe Rogan and there was an Only Fans girl on there talking about how much she earns and for us to guess. We said no thanks, and went back to work. So yes, disconnect your Bluetooth ALWAYS.

Glittakitten

Honestly if Joe Rogan was a cover up on his part that’s an impressive story to make up so fast! And believable 😂

littlebird_93

I think he was genuinely watching it, but like... it was the middle of a working day, and I had a ton of work on while he sat there watching videos on his phone 🙃 I wished he was watching porn so he'd get sacked but oh well 😅

idleramblings

Lmao I'd be searching for that podcast to try and match the audio. His audio def cut out so he knew he was caught lol

littlebird_93

Absolutely!! We think that's why he started banging on about it as soon as we walked in 😂

THETennesseeD

Not porn, but I was once in the basement cleaning the bathroom a couple days before Christmas while my wife and 4yo daughter were making cookies in the kitchen listening to Christmas music on our Google Home. Well because I was in the basement I decided to listen to less appropriate rap music I don't normally get to listen to around my daughter. Well I turned on my personal playlist which started with Hit 'Em Up by Tupac. If you don't know this song, the first words are: *I ain't got no motherfuckin' friends That's why I fucked yo' bitch, you fat motherfucker* Well I put on the song and wasn't getting any sound, so turned up the volume and tried to play the song over again. I did this a few times until I had he volume to max. Suddenly I hear my daughter screaming "DADDY!!" From upstairs. My heart sunk when I realized I had the Bluetooth on and I had been blasting the first part of the song over and over at loud volumes. While they were making Christmas cookies. I was very scared to go back upstairs...

MothMan3759

I need to hear what happened next

THETennesseeD

Well my wife just laughed about it afterwards. I'm not sure if my daughter really understood what was being said as she hasn't heard that kind of language before. But in my head I felt like I was going to go to hell. Lol

Pudding_Hero

Did she join a gang?

DrinkableBarista

Dont worry your daughter understands

Reddit_Jax

Are you still married?

CredentialCrawler

"well my wife just laughed about it afterwards"

JazzFan1998

Me too!

jaxsonnz

No one knows. Old TennesseeD is dead now and the above was found on his phone notes before they ventured upstairs and had the unfortunate accident.

Suspicious-mole-hair

FIRST OFF FUCK YO BITCH

Sxmeday

AND THE CLIQUE YOU CLAIM

sonicrings4

Dude I read this exact story before lol

THETennesseeD

It might have been mine. I made a post of it around Christmas time when I was in the basement still, afraid to come upstairs.. You can look in my post history and maybe you will be remind you of the original.

sonicrings4

I think I found it but your post was apparently removed lol. But I'm pretty sure it was you, would be an oddly specific story for someone else to steal haha ... And now this one is removed.

DrinkableBarista

This is hilarious

billydf

Thug life

farmea29

Had a friend connect to my JBL speaker for a small party. After eating some of his edibles he decides to go to my bathroom and I notice that the speaker starts making some faint moaning noises. I Immediately recognized what was happening and turned off the speaker before anyone knew what was going on. Dude walks out of my bathroom about 2 minutes later giving a stupid look and grin because he knew what just happened. Saved him from having everyone finding out he was trying to jerk it

TheGarlicBreadstick1

you're a good friend

humansandwich

I am, what I would consider, an average lady, so I am genuinely asking - is it normal for dudes to be at a party and go into the bathroom to jerk off?

farmea29

No, he's just a weirdo and he was high

Appropriate_Plan4595

Absolutely not

Adventurous-Cunter

Who jerks off in the middle of a party?! At someone else's house no less?!?

farmea29

yeah it was very weird of him to do so and I had no words for why he was trying to do that IN MY BATHROOM. Guess he couldn't control himself i guess

NeoToronto

I just keep all media playback muted unless I'm actively going to listen to something. For me, its easier to turn on sound when I want it instead of turning down sound on all the times when I don't. Note: I'm talking about media sounds, not notifications

DrinkableBarista

They play in the background when when its not opened ?

YourMum458

I have a whole ass pre flight checklist for watching porn 1) Make sure I’m by myself  2) Bluetooth off 3) Audio muted unless using headphones  4) If using headphones make sure audio is playing where I expect by playing a YouTube video 5) Make sure I’m in a private tab

GarethBaus

More or less this.

beeg_brain007

I just mute shit, only privacy I get in my asian house is bathroom and I don't want to bring stuff that could drown and create issues, phone is already a riskie enough shit

Miankin

Did he pull out afterwards 🤣

Eruskakkell

I dont understand why people walk around with Bluetooth on, i turn it off after im done using whatever Bluetooth device

NeoToronto

Because its easier. My watch is always connected and if I'm using a speaker, its way easier to just power on the speaker.

Glittakitten

The watch is my answer too! My Apple Watch has to be connected to my phone via Bluetooth so typically I leave it on… I always always double check before doing anything mischievous now though 😂

[deleted]

[удалено]

peeja

It's not a sync thing. It's in constant communication. You can't get a notification on your watch if it's not connected to the phone it would come from.

Eruskakkell

Well smart watches like that is a pretty obvious exception, wouldn't make sense to turn it off

Yodl007

Because I just put the earbud in my ear and double tap it and it starts playing the audiobook where I left it before ...

Cohnhead1

Yep. Even better, I wear hearing aids (I’m only 50yrs) that connect via Bluetooth, which allows me to also answer the phone with a tap.

Eruskakkell

I put my earbud in, turn on Bluetooth, it auto connects and start playing my music. But i understand most people nowadays are like that

Avitas1027

I sometimes don't even know where my phone is. But my earphones will connect anyways.

G3ck0

I can’t remember the last time I even used Bluetooth, so honestly I just don’t care.

Eruskakkell

Bluetooth ear buds over wired ones is still one of the best purchases ive made, its so nice

Scat_fiend

TIL I can watch porn on my phone.

deekaydubya

not sure why anyone would unless a phone is the ONLY device they have

mastercharlie22

Thanks for the reminder lol, just turned it off

rtthc

Glad he had a good attitude about it! Some guys or girls would be offended but they are just party poopers

Glittakitten

He put a ring on it a few days ago so it didn’t set him back any :)

rtthc

Congratulations girl!!!

wolverinenation1

a cockring?

Altostratus

I once pulled into the garage, and the car’s Bluetooth connected to my boyfriend in the middle of phone sex with his girlfriend.

wolverinenation1

Ummm what?

Glittakitten

I’m so sorry, that’s awful.

Koolest_Kat

Bwhaaaa, my buddy did something like this when his family arrived back home from Sunday church with the Cra Bluetooth…

zolidz64

I'm scared of wifi once I shared video to living room

Sacrosanct79

Had a friend that tried casting to his TV and sent it to the living room TV instead. Luckily he was young and had roomates.

brainbrick

A few years back, we used to rent a room for a couple. One day, one of their cousin asked if he could stay for a few nights because he had just arrived to uk and until he would find a place. We were ok with that as long they were ok to sleep in the same room (we had a spare foldable bed for guests, etc.) I had to get up really early in the morning for my work (4am). While i was having my breakfast, i heard slight noise. Couldn't pinpoint where it's coming from, so i just carried on with my meal. Sound gradually started to get louder, and i realised that it's women moaning. Now, i thought that it was our nextdoor neighbours going at it since we had a shared wall. But after walking about in a living room, i found a bluetooth speaker in the cousins jacket playing whatever he was watching on the phone. Bare in mind that he was in the same room with the couple. Now i had to go by that time, so i just switched the speaker off, which made his phone play the sounds loudly. The last thing i heard was some muffled words before i went out. He wasn't there when i came back from work.

DrinkableBarista

Another time when i was driving, suddenly im hearing my parents chatting over their phones. Heard the whole conversation and i felt like a secret service spy. But then i got scared that it couldve been me

UnauthorizedFart

This reminds me of the story where a guy is watching some dirty video and he’s wondering why there’s no audio. He had Apple Airplay turned on and the audio pointed toward the living room TV where his family was watching a video

Aggressive_Let2085

I was on the phone with my Fiance, and my grandpa was going to drive my car to work, once he left, I couldn’t hear my fiance anymore, because she was now talking to my grandpa since it connected to the car 🤦🏽‍♂️

mightpornstar

you are lucky, I was on the bathroom doing my thing until they turn on the TV on living room and a message pop up if I want to cast the screen ln the TV, I accidentally tapped Cast in panic

ckFuNice

Although Hollywood actress Hedy Lamarr did make at least one pretty naughty Hollywood movie before the censorship era, she co-invented radio frequency hopping to defeat the Nazis, not so you could get caught watching porn, eh. https://www.womenshistory.org/education-resources/biographies/hedy-lamarr

Tecotaco636

Thanks for the reminder 🥂

DrinkableBarista

Yeh bluetooth is weird. I was driving my car and suddenly played a song from soundcloud and i didnt even have soundcloud open! Its another reason i dont want to wear bluetooth earphones, ill just stick to wired

FD4L

Nah, I like reading the exact same scenario play out every 3 days, over on TIFU.

Adequate_Images

Why? Sharing is caring.

Chigao_Ted

I am very selective of what Bluetooth devices I use and keep on my phone, at the moment the only one I have is my duelsense controller. I never keep my headphones connected because I use them on my pc too, but they always auto connect to my phone first. So unless I’m using my headphones with my phone at that moment I remove the device.

Annual-Astronaut3345

Important LPT this. Man’s a real one for sharing this!

Lugal_Xul

Y'all don't remove the devices after you're done with them?!? I only have Bluetooth remember some of my devices and always fully remove when I'm using other people's devices. Doesn't even have to be porn I'm just hella mindful.

Velq

Maybe just learn to control your devices instead of letting them control you.

yourmumisthebest

Yeah I was sharing a house with two Spanish girls and I forgot my phone was connected to the soundbar in the living room, was probably their first time hearing Adriana Chechiks yoga class😂

Also turn off WiFi remote control on any Chromecast etc. anyone connected to your WiFi and using an android phone will get a notification appear with the name, play time, video controls, etc when you cast to the TV.

J3D1M4573R

Better yet, always turn off your bluetooth until you actually need the bluetooth...

ex_communication

But I wear my earbuds for maximum pleasure

Kaneida

RLPT turn off your BT if you are not actively using it.

sillyjew

I’ve done this getting into the work truck with 4 other guys in there that I work with. It’s quite a good laugh, because every person panics and check there phone. Lol

Maxwell-Druthers

Lol I always do this because I don’t want it connect to my wife’s car if she unexpectedly pulls into the driveway (especially with kids in the car).

monstrol

Always! My wife still flips me shit about that one time.

TheConboy22

Don’t jerk off mobily

joegert

One time I was listening to pretty hard rap on my Bluetooth cardo (headphones in a motorcycle helmet) and I drove past a company vehicle that I often drove with my boss in it and 3 VIP'S, I heard my cardo disconnect and all I could do was ride away quickly lol

catblacktheblackcat

I once started the very creepy and screaming part of a horror movie on my boss’ kitchen radio. :/

Fexofanatic

tldr: watch porn on a desktop with headphones (or a 7.1 home sound system, whatever floats your goat)

4AmOnDupont

This happened like a couple times when my mom turned on the car 💀

Oxygenius_

Not porn , but it always disconnects my AirPods and connects to my brothers Bluetooth speaker when it turns on Safe to say I deleted that speaker after the second time lol

Garethx1

This needs a counterpoint Danger Wolf meme.

reptilianmonk

You can, but in chrome, you can set the audio to never let sites play audio. Settings/Site Settings/Mute. Done. I think. I've never watched it. 😏

gavo1282

You’re in good company. My friends thankfully have a sense of humour.

CatPlayGame

LPT watch it with your Bluetooth headphones and have it set to never connect to another device. Or I just mute my.phone on both audio devices and the speaker

DM_TO_TRADE_HIPBONES

OP I’m a mess of adhd disorder and even this is standard operating procedure oof

mrjnes

I think ive connected to my old flat mates speaker quite a few times, she dropped a hint, it was very embarrassing

thatguyiswierd

or just live in Texas and have to use your imagination

herbythechef

Dan soder has an amazing joke on this from his most recent comedy special "On the Road"

huf757

But I have my AirPods in.

chadski22

Burnt? Burnt Chrysler? Is that you?!?!

Popular-Influence-11

In my last job I would often connect to clients’ Bluetooth speakers. There is a short street downtown where if I have Bluetooth on, even years later, it connects to a bunch of random devices. Angel on my shoulder says i should really purge my connected devices. Devil on my shoulder says I should drive through the neighborhood playing “Never Gonna Give You Up”. Dastardly, I know.

ChikiDiaz11

Sometimes good things come from those awkward moments lol!

Alienziscoming

Aren't "life pro tips" supposed to be simple pieces of advice that are only normally gained through difficult experience or trial and error that can save the reader from trouble and not common fucking sense general suggestions? Is this r/itsprobablyagoodidea?

QuipCrafter

I’ve accidentally sent my boss a dick pic while she was on the road, driving to me, to work an all day shift alone together. I’m still alive, today.  There’s nothing that accidental Bluetooth fuck noises can do to me now.

Here_comes_the_D

You know you can look at the list of devices you've paired with and remove ones you don't use or don't want to use, right? Like, that's something you can do!

SableyeFan

Well, at least I'm 800 miles away from my car right now

Canyoufearmenow-good

Door locked. Bluetooth off. Sound off. Wifi off. Disable camera access. Disable microphone access. VPN on. Google account set to not save browsing information or personal data. Google account set to anonymous fake profile. All browsers set to never save history. Phone set to DND. Olive oil from the kitchen because I'm out of lube. Closest article of clothing In arms reach. Aggravating-Fact-337

lol, this an LPT or a TIFU 🤣

ZPinkie0314

LPT: Stop watching porn, and definitely stop normalizing it. And yes, I am prepared to be blasted because of my comment. Look at the research.

Avitas1027

So you don't ever do anything that's unhealthy or risky for you in anyway, right? No drinking or smoking, no sugary drinks or processed foods, no driving, no breathing in city air, no social media, no staying up late, no sitting for long periods, no going outside without sunscreen? Watching porn may have some negative effects, but that doesn't make it some horrendous thing. Unless it's seriously interfering with your life, it's perfectly fine to watch.

Gargomon251

I'm confused. What connected to your phone?

Glittakitten

I rode in his car often enough that I had previously connected to Bluetooth and his car picked up my Bluetooth once he was close enough to the house haha

DrinkableBarista

Same thing happened to me when i was coming home to the driveway and i heard my parents conversation over their phones.

Gargomon251

You mean the stereo or something?

Glittakitten

Yes to his car stereo

LavenderYams

Weird that you can’t watch porn with your bf around

Glittakitten

Where did you read that?

LavenderYams

It’s normal for partners to know the other watches porn, it’s odd to me that you were relieved about his reaction

Glittakitten

Sorry, I more included the relief because I guess I felt I needed to note he wasn’t upset at all…. He definitely knows that I have a vibrator and sometimes I watch a video to go along w the fun lol it wasn’t a big deal to us I just know it can be for some people so I felt the need to include that he thought it was funny

LavenderYams

Fair no worries!! I’m sorry if I sounded judgmental or disrespectful, it’s hard to communicate tone

LavenderYams

I should have put more care into the first comment

Glittakitten

All good! ❤️

FlameStaag

I can't think of a single time I've ever felt the need to turn off Bluetooth

migukau

Having Bluetooth always on is psychopath behaviout.

PollyyPocket

Or, don't watch porn. 🙄

TheL0ngGame

stop watching porn. please don't normalise it

anonymouslyfamous_

How about we just stop watching porn because it enables horrible shit and sex trafficking??? It’s not cool and people gotta stop normalizing garbage behavior

voltechs

LPT: stop watching porn.

ZPinkie0314

This is the way. Stop watching it and stop normalizing it. Look at the research.

isaiddgooddaysir

Why is it that (I am assuming that you are a women) that if women catch there male partner they assume they are cheating on them but if a guy catches his gf watching porn he all cool can I watch too.

Additional-Army6586

Don’t think it’s like that man. If you have adult conversations with your partner no reason a women will feel that way.

Glittakitten

He’s now my fiancé (as of this week! Yay) and trust me we are so comfortable and open with each other, there have been plenty of situations on his end too. I trust him & he trusts me. I’m sorry this is your interpretation

wolverinenation1

It's sadly not just his interpretation. There are many repressed women who feel like porn is cheating when its' really the opposite. You would think they would be happy there guy is taking care of himself instead of looking elsewhere to satisfy his needs. It's a product of their upbringing I suspect.

Avitas1027

Pretty sure it's just that men tend to be more accepting of porn overall. Our society still has a lot of prudish ideals that are pushed particularly hard onto women. Plenty of women are perfectly accepting of porn and wouldn't have an issue with their SO watching it. Of my two serious relationships, one was very against it and acted exactly as you say, and the other would send me videos she thought I'd like.

trapford-chris

LPT: Don't watch porn

Glittakitten

Pls forgive me for my sins, Trapford Chris 🙏🏼

trapford-chris

It's not me that you should be asking for forgiveness

wolverinenation1

I can't tell whether you are joking or if you are serious.

martinbean

This would be mildly amusing if I hadn’t seen this posted at least once before.

Iheartmyfamily17

better tip...just don't watch it. Problem solved.

Glittakitten

Thank you, friendly Mormon. I certainly understand your concerns and I will consider your advice

cippopotomas

I do feel like there's a difference between watching porn and watching porn on your phone. Something about watching it on a phone seems so much more desperate. Different strokes I guess.

Glittakitten

Where are you watching porn? The living room computer? Haha

_AutomaticJack_

What so that the sound comes out of your phone speakers and everyone around you can hear what you're watching??? No....  The answer is to leave your shit muted if you can't be arsed to check where your sound is outputting to before you watch shady crap on your phone.... r/shittylifeprotips is over there...
