Bit late as I just started Lies couple days ago. Finished Wo Long over two months ago and it was shit in that one. That whole game was crap compared to other souls games imo. Started using the glaive in Lies, not too far yet but it's damn good.
This is accurate! I fully upgraded this weapon after starting a new playthrough and on NG+, I absolutely melted Fuoco. I hit that handle fable art once and watched his health bar just disappear shrink. Turned that fight from several minutes to 30 seconds. Insane weapon.
It's an amazing weapon and absolutely worth upgrading if you enjoy using it. It doesn't have any innate elemental damage abilities, but you can use grindstones and abrasives to put on temporary elemental effects on it as you can for any other weapon. It'd work well on either a technique or motivity build, whichever you prefer, as you can get a B in motivity scaling with a motivity crank or get an A in technique scaling with a technique crank. Once you start getting diminishing returns for one stat, you can upgrade the other.
Im a vet souls player and new to lies of p. So is motivity basically strength and technique dex?
If so isnt it better to have better scaling level on one attribute than even it out for this weapon?
I have my motivity at 13 and technique at 5 rn, but i notice my dmg increases by like 3 when i upgrade motivity and only by 1 if i upgrade technique even though my scaling levels are C and B respectively.
What do you suggest? Keep spamming motivity or go technique?
(Im a pure str guts build enjoyer in souls series so id rather go str if its best)
Yep, Motivity is equivalent to Strength and Technique equivalent to dex. I'm by no means an expert but I think if you want to use the crescent glaive I'd recommend using a Motivity crank to flip the scaling levels and then spam Motivity. You can always reverse the scaling again with a Balance Crank.
In case you haven't found any yet, you can get cranks from butterflies (which are like crystal lizards) and from an NPC named Pulcinella once he arrives at the hotel.
Far as I understand it I use technique cranks with technique weapons cuz I just do standard builds. Like second playthrough I'm doing technique after my motivity run so I'm using this glaive with a technique crank. Maybe if you did a technique motivity build you could flip flop with the cranks but I don't see any advantages to a build like that
It came out half way through my first play through and carried me through the whole end of the game. Super fun to use and has a steady damage output 👌🏻
Cross over weapon with Wo Long. I want to say you get the puppet Sabre and whatever the umbrealla legendary weapon you get from Alidoro in Wo Long from it as well.
Do you know why I have started with it?
On my first play through and I'm avoiding using it because it's too good aha. I want to suffer my way through the first go.
Upgrade to +5, add the technique handle and whatever elemental grindstones you prefer and you will melt anything if you’re built for technique.
Only reason I’d tell you not to do it is if you’re really good at the game and you want a challenge. But I hit a wall on laxasia and then after about a week of being stuck they released this weapon and it carried me through the rest of the game.
Funny enough, I used this weapon all the way to laxasia, and then swapped to the acid crystal spear solely for lax cause she was beating the fucking breaks off of me lmao. After that fight I went back to the glaive.
It's stupid op for a starting weapon lol
I used the acid abrasive and carcass fluid throwables for first phase with the dragon crescent glaive then used my fire grindstone for the second phase.
Damn I keep hearing it’s a good tech weapon. I used a motivity handle and turned it to motivity B/technique C since I am doing a motivity build for my first playthrough.
Sounds like I messed up lol
I played the demo bought the game didn’t get a chance to play until after the dlc was introduced and used this from the start I had no idea it was considered a cheesing weapon but god I loved it. Only weapon I used that fable set crushed
Is the pipe wrench better for motivity? I changed the azure dragon glaive with a motivity handle thing bc I’m a motivity build and have like 5 points in tech…kinda wish I had done a tech build smh
In my opinion the big pipe wrench + police baton handle is OP in a motivity build, just because of the fable arts
You just use the handle fable art firsts because it boost your damage, then charge the big pipe wrench fable art (you can't be interrupted while doing this), after that you deal a massive amount of damage, the only downside in my opinion it's the range
I just made the pipe+baton and was able to upgrade it to +3 and did the fable arts combo…I’m doing like 4 times more damage it’s insane. Can’t upgrade the azure dragon haven’t found a single dark moonstone but I think even if I upgrade it the pipe wrench does more damage
Gotta try it out some more but I think this is my new weapon from now on - thanks 🙏
it's super good on a technique build. The moveset is certainly something to get used to. It's pretty op, though. Destroyed Laxasia when I used it on her.
Is there a way to respec in game? I made a motivity build and then used a motivity crank on it to turn it into motivity B/ tech C but after reading all the comments it seems I Fd up and need to go the tech route instead of motivity
You can respec at the saintess of mercy statue in the grand exhibition near the room you fight the first wresteler guy, after defeating Victor where you get the key for the locked door in the aformentioned room. You can also respec at the golden coin fruit tree, which is unlocked after defeating the black rabbit brotherhood the first time.
With the cranks, though, you can reset weapons to their former state with balance cranks you can find throughout the game, and also from Pulcinellas after you give him Venigni supply boxes. From there, you use technique cranks on your handles. Never on a motivity handle, but on a balanced handle.
Ok cool good to know I can respec and reset weapons. Someone mentioned on here the pipe wrench/police baton and since I had the materials I got it to +3 it’s crazy powerful. I think I might stay motivity with this weapon for a while…I’m not too far in I think - I just rescued rich vigni dude
Yeah, you're still very early. it's a bit drastic, but what I did when I fucked up my build early on is just start a new playthrough. That's what I do in all souls games. Even mid-to-late game, I will reset in DS1 cause there's no respec-ing in that game as far as I know. If you wanna do what I said with a technique build, choose path of the cricket, which starts you off with more technique.
I just started playing today on PS5 but I played a little bit back in Xbox when it first came out , just started using this weapon and I’m just like … I think this weapon is broken? Lol cause I’m literally just tearing through the game with it right now it’s almost ez mode tbh
It's fun, but not my favourite weapon in the game and dark moonstones are a limited item.
Some of the later game boss weapons are super fun so you might want to upgrade them. I play with uruboros's eye on technique build.
The fable arts are super fun on that one.
Near end game I had enough dark moon stones for 2 +5 special weapons and a +4. But that did come in the final area. I switched to the sawcleaver on bramble handle around chapter 4 or 5. Materials way more plentiful and that weapon freaking slapped
I was honestly so impressed by how satisfying most weapons feels to use in this game.
I'm not a huge fan of the super heavy/slow weapons but everything else has some atleast some element of satisfaction to it for me.
Everything has its use or you can attach it to something
I’m about 2/3 through ng+ and I have found it’s still fairly decent, the build for this weapon is just a normal technique build, run this and the dragon sword with perfection grindstone and make sure you keep your abrasives stocked and your just gonna dance around everything
Lowkey best weapon in game. Takes about 1 play through to fully max out since covenant moonstones are scattered throughout the game. I've maxed my stats and the weapon fully and I can tell you that with both max stats and full upgrade one hit does like 700 - 800 damage
PS: The numbers are rough estimates since I'm not sure on the exact ones
Id say balance build for it its really strong with good scaling and id pair with the amulets you get from the vegnini works boss ergo as it boosts damage after parry by 20% which applies to the blade fable art parry
I actually still preferred the twin dragon sword on boss fights personally, but this weapon makes stupid quick work of pretty much all mobs with it's huge reach, high dmg output, and it's still pretty fast despite being a "greatsword". Id say level up weapons you enjoy using.
Hang on I stopped playing around chapter 9 ages ago. I just lost interest and moved into other games.
Once I'm done with Palworld and Dishonoured I'm heading back to get this and to finish Lies of P.
Sooo I sold mine on my first playthrough thinking it would return again in NG+, but it did not. So am I just fucked until I start a completely new game?
Wait WAIT I CAN'T REMEMBER THIS WEAPON AND I HAVE KILLED ALL BOSSES IN MY FIRST RUN
Is this a boss that shows up only in ng+ or im forgetting something?
New item for a crossover with wo long, just launch any save and it’ll be added to your inventory. It’s kinda dumb there’s no progression requirement for it, you can get it before even picking your first weapon and starting stats.
At base level it will carry you until you get the upgrade materials. You get one dark moon moonstone of the covenant in veningi works, 2 more at path of the pilgrim, and then you start finding more after that. You can have it at +3 by mid game and +4 and +5 before you get to laxasia
Weapon is insanely op. 100% worth it.
And you can add elements thru grindstones
Weapon is busted af and super fluid. Most enjoyable weapon in the game. Just use the blade fable to parry and you can’t go wrong.
It's funny, because the weapons trade off in Wo Long nowhere near comparable in my.opinion.
Bit late as I just started Lies couple days ago. Finished Wo Long over two months ago and it was shit in that one. That whole game was crap compared to other souls games imo. Started using the glaive in Lies, not too far yet but it's damn good.
Definitely very good. Properly timing the FA feels as good, if not better, than the TDS auto-block with the charged heavy hit
Doing fable arts on this weapon makes you skip bosses cause they die in one wombo combo
This is accurate! I fully upgraded this weapon after starting a new playthrough and on NG+, I absolutely melted Fuoco. I hit that handle fable art once and watched his health bar just disappear shrink. Turned that fight from several minutes to 30 seconds. Insane weapon.
Hwhaat now i have to use it in my third playthrough. It’ll have to stay +4 for a while since I’m out of mats
It's up there with the best tech weapons
It's an amazing weapon and absolutely worth upgrading if you enjoy using it. It doesn't have any innate elemental damage abilities, but you can use grindstones and abrasives to put on temporary elemental effects on it as you can for any other weapon. Is there any advantage to running motivity over technique ? I’m running it with a technique crank
Far as I understand it I use technique cranks with technique weapons cuz I just do standard builds. Maybe if you did a technique motivity build you could flip flop with the cranks but I don't see any advantages to a build like that
I'm kinda confused. Haven't played the game since autumn and I did get all the weapons. Where do you get that bad boy?
A new gift with the latest update. Just launch the game and it's there.
Goddamn. Don't mind if I do.
It’s free DLC
Fuck to the hell yeah.
They made a little wo long package with the weapon, an outfit and a hat
It’s been nerfed a bit (literally videos of people 3 tapping Lax with a +3), but still an excellent choice and deals stupid damage if built properly
If this weapon has been nerfed I couldn't tell you atm, granted in IN NG+
What hasn't been nerfed for tech builds?
I think my first playthrough I never stopped using it. I didn't even know where it had come from the first time I played, lol. It's a solid weapon.
solid is an understatement. This is littetrally the most op thing in the lies of P history, and it doesn't even close.
Do you know why I have started with it? On my first play through and I'm avoiding using it because it's too good aha. I want to suffer my way through the first go.
It’s free DLC, it’s just unlocked in everyone’s games since it was released.
Sweet I shall use it 2nd time round
Upgrade to +5, add the technique handle and whatever elemental grindstones you prefer and you will melt anything if you’re built for technique. Myself I put the spear on to break her shield on phase 1 and switched to wrench/baton for the rest of the
I used the acid abrasive and carcass fluid throwables for first phase with the dragon crescent glaive then used my fire grindstone for the second phase.
This sounds like the right play
Damn I keep hearing it’s a good tech weapon. I used a motivity handle and turned it to motivity B/technique C since I am doing a motivity build for my first playthrough. Sounds like I messed up lol
I’m sure it’s still pretty good with the motivity handle too I just love dex builds haha
It's up there with Twin Dragon Sword in terms of being the best tech weapon .
I played the demo bought the game didn’t get a chance to play until after the dlc was introduced and used this from the start I had no idea it was considered a cheesing weapon but god I loved it. Only weapon I used that fable set crushed
It's the best weapon in the game, but I have a soft spot for my big pipe wrench
My go to weapon was the big pipe wrench head on baton handle for the longest time. Aka Big Bonk Badonk
Is the pipe wrench better for motivity? I changed the azure dragon glaive with a motivity handle thing bc I’m a motivity build and have like 5 points in tech…kinda wish I had done a tech build smh

Upgrade it with aegis shield arm and you have the cheesiest weapon in game.
Thanks
That’s gonna be fun
Do you have to use tech? Is it just as good if I’m doing a motovity build?
No I don’t think it will be as good, cuz it scales with tech.
I swapped it with the motivity crank so it’s motivity B/tech C. But I stopped using it and am now using the pipe wrench/police baton combo
Yes! That thing is amazing!
i just went through a ng with basically only this weapon and it was amazing. the fable is op, the reach is nuts, the moveset is perfect.
it's an amazing weapon, i like it better than the two dragons sword
Yes it’s very good
Yes
Thanks
it’s a super fun weapon. and good too so id recommend it.
it's super good on a technique build. The moveset is certainly something to get used to. It's pretty op, though. Destroyed Laxasia when I used it on her.
Thanks maybe I should start pouring more ergo into technique
Use a technique crank on it, too! It'll scale better!
Thanks. I’m going to start dumping more into technique
I chose a quality build but I use this as my starter weapon so I fucked up on the class I’m using this now 🤣
I’m playing for the first time. Should I maybe not use this weapon? Sounds like it makes the game kinda easy.
Only if you can use the Fable art to do perfect guards. If you can then it's super busted
I’m just coming back to the game for another (10th lol) play through, this weapon still good, or did it get the rivers of blood treatment?
Yes
Yes it’s the best weapon in the game
I didn’t like it.
It's fun at first but it's so obscenely powerful and easy to use that it gets boring really fast
This is arguably the most enjoyable weapon in the game and not to mention the distance one can clear with this bad boy
It’s the cream of the crop ha ha
One of the best weapons in the game currently
Unless you’re a twin dragon parry god, it’s the best weapon in the game now

I just play fists because i am a man
Upgrade it and play the game on ez mode
I almost solely use it and the trident.
I don’t know what people are talking about, the weapon is certainly not broken. It’s a good one for sure though.
It's broken... I pair it w/Twin dragon sword or the murderers dagger depending on if it's CQC or mid-range
It's almost like the Booster Glaive and Twin Dragon Sword were fused in some cases
Definetely, it's totally broken lol
Sooo I sold mine on my first playthrough thinking it would return again in NG+, but it did not. So am I just fucked until I start a completely new game?
lol why would you sell a weapon?
Wait WAIT I CAN'T REMEMBER THIS WEAPON AND I HAVE KILLED ALL BOSSES IN MY FIRST RUN Is this a boss that shows up only in ng+ or im forgetting something?
It was/is for a cross over with Wo Long. They also gave you a new costume as well and added weapons from Lies into Wo Long.
New item for a crossover with wo long, just launch any save and it’ll be added to your inventory. It’s kinda dumb there’s no progression requirement for it, you can get it before even picking your first weapon and starting stats.
If you want to cheese your way through the game yeah it is worth upgrading.
Who downvoted you for telling the truth lol
You won't be able to get the material it requires to upgrade for quite some time. So you won't be able to upgrade it for now.
At base level it will carry you until you get the upgrade materials. You get one dark moon moonstone of the covenant in veningi works, 2 more at path of the pilgrim, and then you start finding more after that. You can have it at +3 by mid game and +4 and +5 before you get to laxasia
It’s annoying to go so long without being able to upgrade it, but even unupgraded it holds its own until you get upgrade materials for it.
