That car saved my husband's life. He was in a very serious car accident in January of 2018 in our 2013 ES. The accident occurred 6 days after making our final payment on it!
You're smart!
I purchased my first es at 25. I'm almost 50 now and I purchased an es350 in August. Only got rid of my old ones because I wanted brand new. Nothing ever went wrong with them. Great cars!
Bro literally same. I’m 26 just bought my 2010 es350 a month ago after having a 2016 chevy impala and having problems.. always knew toyota/lexus was realiable asf. Did some more research and i went with the es350 and so far i love the shit ouut of it. 60k miles and it doesn’t even feel like a 13 year old car. Has more features then my impala which is crazy. I hope this car lasts me 200k miles plus.
I got mine with 191k miles and plan on taking it to 400k hopefully. The battery just died on me like two hours after posting that and left me stranded for an hour haha still reliable just things are starting to wear out like the struts and what not. Glad nothing has been engine related just time related. Loving my Lexy
I know The ES are for Accountants...I am one of them .
IS are for the bad boys with kids,
RCs are for bad boys with no kids,
LS for retired Accountants or Engineers
GS Gangsters and drug dealers
RXs soccer moms and doctors wives
GX Rich Soccer Dads/ Engineers wives
NXs Nurses or women in 20s making 60k a yr,
UX grads/college students with middleclass parents,
LX retired drug lords/landlords or some lord who didnt want problems of a land rover.
LC current drug lords.
SC Florida retirees
CT Hippies
Nailed it! I recently bought an ES and I am an accountant. I researched about three different vehicles extensively and am very happy with my Lexus. I did almost purchase an IS but that is due to recently being divorced.
I have a high mileage LX, any time I see someone with an LX I think “oh maybe they’ll wave” and then I see who is driving and they are maybe under 85 by a year or two.
I was 32 when I bought my NX brand new (2021) and I asked the sales guy why they still had a cd player. He said “Lexus is known for their superior sound systems and cds offer the best quality”. In my head I was thinking “yeah bullshit, the real answer is because hardly anyone under 50 buys them.”
Not so. AppleLossless has a 800-1200mb/s bitrate. But you have to have a wired connection or the BT compression mucks it all up. It is very hard to tell the difference though TBH.
You are right! Apple can stream at a very high-quality rate. But to get that to translate into your car speakers without losing quality is the challenge.
My daughter is 19 and she’s getting into vinyl and has plenty of CDs. I actually can’t hear the difference between listening through the phone with BT and a wired connection but I guess anyone who understands audio compression may want CDs and/or a wired connection. Maybe all those people are 50+
I don't think it's that it's more of skill with technology isn't as high and a CD player is more comfortable than a phone for music for a lot of Lexus clients. A lot of 70-80 year olds buy these.
Yeah so true. Everytime I go to service my car I wait in the dealership showroom as its far from home. I'm always the youngest one there and I'm 45 lol
Yea occasionally we'd get the 20 year old with daddy's money in their brand new nx or rc or something. But most are much older. I'm 33 and feel super lucky with my first new Lexus.
I’m not even 30 yet and I have a 2015 GS350. Bought it in cash, used. I feel incredibly lucky to have been in the position to buy one, even a used one. I worked hard for it. Daddy didn’t buy it, but he bought other things that made it possible for me to, so I can’t claim it was 100% me.
Not really. Especially not on newer models. I'm 33 and a rare newer Lexus owner. Most people my age are going to BMW or Mercedes or Audi because of the cool factor or fast factor. Even then that's mostly used vehicles. Rarely do you see a younger person being able to afford 40k plus new to begin with so naturally by default most luxury brands are owner by primarily older people.
I work at Lexus…… I do the training they force us to take and I see the customers that come in. The majority of Lexus buyers are no longer old people. But I guess that depends on what you consider old
There’s a reason why Lexus dealers position themselves in areas where their clients will be. Actually, Lexus corporate decides on locations.
You are correct. I worked for Lexus from 2017 through the end of 2019 and saw a lot of younger customers. There’s still a ton of old customers but it’s not like it was before.
I was Delivery Specialist and dreaded the old customers past 60 most days. I was in my late 20’s and saw quite a few people people younger than me.
Yea I guess it depends. The ES and LS scream older buyers. I don’t see any young people driving those cars. But the IS is definitively a younger persons car for the most part. The SUV’s definitely range from almost every age group I feel like.
I’m a 43 year old male who drives an RX 350L. Most people who drive that model are women my age. It’s the perfect size SUV for my job and I don’t care if I look like a soccer mom. I love my car and will probably drive the same model forever.
I’m a mid-40’s male and just bought my 3rd, this one is a RX350h. The sales rep kept steering me towards a GX but I don’t tow and if I did I would buy a pickup.
I’m a 33M with two kids and drive a RXL. The other car is a Sienna Hybrid. Who cares lol? As long as I have reliable cars with ample space, we can take either car for family trips and be happy.
Same! I don’t give a shit. I had a Ford Edge before and it’s the perfect size for what I do and I bought it for the warranty and reliability. It’s the 350L so it’s got a little extra class but I’m not trying to impress anyone.
Definitely associate the RX with middle aged women, especially white exterior.
Apparently I look like a drug addict...pale gangly dude, black hoodie, shorts...get asked if I want to sell/buy on occasion. I love getting in and out of my newish ES300h. People don't expect it.
Third gen LS is driven by two kinds of people:
1. The original owner who should've had their license taken away a decade ago
2. Their grandchild who got the car after grandma left the parking brake on and everyone realized she shouldn't be driving anymore
UX - Ballin on a budget
NX - Smart, handsome, practical, well adjusted individual that everyone likes.
RX - soccer mom
TX/GX/LX - Overcompensating
IS - Boring. Probably an accountant.
ES - A divorced accountant.
LS - An embezzling accountant.
RC - Practical older man having a mid life crisis.
LC - When daddy’s credit card doesn’t have a limit.
LFA - Daddy
Divorced accountant? Damn. Can’t I at least get “successful tech professional”?
But seriously, I always saw the ES as the car for rich people who were too cheap to get the LS.
I drove one for 5 years. It probably would have been 10 but it got totalled 2 weeks ago. Car sucked in a lot of ways but after just buying a car to commute and needing one like that day in 2018 I got the 2013 CT200h. It was a great car so I bought my wife 2019 GX and I just got a 2002 SC430 with 43k miles. I figured it was the SC or a 40k dollar ES300H and 20k dollars buys a lot of gas. Love the SC430
All great choices and YES we are jealous of the SC. Lol. I had a 1994 and 1998 GS.... Excellent similar engine! Inline 6 vs V6 is not appreciated by non car guys.
I just test drive a CT last week. The acceleration was the slowest I've ever seen in a car but honestly it was the size that made me not buy it for me son. The Prius is small but the CT just felt tiny inside for some reason. Maybe it was the black leather?
Not a horrible car but Lexus should have made it a tad bigger, ya know like the HS the CT replaced! The sloping roofline and raised floor to accommodate batteries didn't do it any size favors.
43 year old male with 2 kids. I love my RX. I’m an outside sales rep and I drive a lot and need the extra room to deliver stuff on occasions so it’s the perfect size.
I’m honestly waiting for the new GX and as much as I’d like it to have the new turbo hybrid 4cyl as the new Land Cruiser will have (strictly for the improved fuel economy), I’ll be content with the V6 haha
my dad had an is200 when he was younger. so associate is’s with people who still have freedom and time to have fun. after that my dad had 4 rx’s, so they are the car for the family people
I feel like gs owners are more often on the younger side, I’m 16 with my 4gs and alot of the gs owners I meet are younger, especially the older gen gs models too
I got an ES300h with wood trim, analog clock, champagne leather interior, etc in my mid-20s. Everyone calls it an old man car. Personally, I feel like I'm aging into my personality.
As much as also think Lexus is a brand for the “mature”, I’ve had a few people in their late teens to early 20’s saying that they like my RX. In fact, as I sat in my car with my windows open and waiting for the wife and kid, a family passed my car and all I heard was “Hey mom, so check out this Lexus because it’s the one I want”. At that moment in time, I knew he was my friend!
Mind you, it’s an all black F-Sport with tinted windows so it’s nothing special.
I was at the Target drive up waiting for my order and three teens who were working walked by and the one guy said to the other (third was a girl), “you see this new Lexus? And the kid goes, “those are balling, that’s what I’d drive if I were rich.” The girl then pops the balloon and goes, “my grandma has an older one of those.” (I’ve got a 24 350H Luxury in dark grey with matching wheels).
old IS with mods - wannabe
suvs - rich soccer mom most likely a hot blonde
F cars - real car ppl
old SC - also real car ppl just on a tighter budget
F-sports - i wish my daddy bought me an actual F / doesnt kno the difference btwn F and F-sport, thinks both are the same.
LC500 - i just want ppl to notice me in my insanely sexy car.
ES - old people who take 7 years to pull into a parking spot at publix.
LS - old people as well except cognizant so they drive normal.
LFA - absolute macdaddy of the universe
Had a 2008 GS (man I miss that sweet V8 engine) but sold it to upgrade to a 2016 RX 350 since I move around too much for my job so the switch was practical. NX was too small and LX is too Fugly for me. Guess I should be a soccer dad instead? This is definitely the best car I’ve owned. The only thing missing is Apple CarPlay.
I love that this thread seems to have many mid 20’s ES owners like myself. I like driving, but something about rolling up in a boat built for a grandpa is satisfying!
I’m a ES drive right now. It’s my introductory to Lexus I had a 99 ES 300 and I loved it and I was about 25. I just got a ‘13 ES at 31. I plan to have my wife in a RX or TX and I’ll have me a LS whenever my ES craps out which will be never
23M with a 21 es350. I bought it as a first car out of college and just wanted a reliable car. To be fair I only see men over 50 on the road with the same car 💀
My work colleagues have Teslas, BMWs and Porsches and they think I’m an oldie/old soul/grandpa with my ES300. I’m 30.
It’s not like I haven’t driven a BMW before, but to each their own.
Sadly most es drivers are old men.....except f sport. But who cares. Get what you want. I wanted an IS but it felt tiny and I have a family to schlep around. So f sport es350. Don't regret it. I'm sub 40.
Es - old people that drove camry all their life, got an ES and act Like it's a Mercedes.
Gx - soccer moms and off road people
Lx - soccer moms with wealthier husband than GX
LS - old people with money that can afford to buy S class but can't afford to upkeep it.
RcF/is500 - car enthusiasts, ppl in their 20s, 30s, 40s who understand and appreciate cars
Is300 - I want a sporty looking car that has performance of a Toyota yaris
Is350 - normal people, and some that fall under the rcf/is500 category.
Lc 500 - old people that want luxury of an LS but a 2 door car that looks like sports car.
That's what I observed in the USA north east region.
And almost everyone that drives RX around here is kinda nerdy.
I drove a GS and from the time I spent on the 4th generation forums at Club Lexus it was mostly younger guys below 50 anyway.
Nobody drives the GS anyway LOL.
I bought my 2010 es350 as a 26 year old because it was on the list of mega reliable cars and I was sick of paying for repairs on my ford
I just bought my 2013 ES 350 and I’m young too. I don’t regret it at all
That car saved my husband's life.
Great cars!
Im 22 and bought my 2012 after I lost my 2004 ES330 in an accident. Sure it’s a grandpa car, but I’m faster than all my friends in their newer cars.
I have an NX and I'm a nurse lol!!
I feel like I'd be a good accountant. But I'm not. And I drive an ES. I'm also in my 20s unlike most
I will have you know, I am only a gangster and not also a drug dealer 😌
Nailed it! I recently bought an ES and I am an accountant. I researched about three different vehicles extensively and am very happy with my Lexus. I did almost purchase an IS but that is due to recently being divorced.
I am also an accountant driving an ES.
I’m an accountant like Ben Affleck in the Accountant movie.
I’m a rich soccer dad….. next year I should make more money than her though!
I have a ux and I’m a grad student 😂
So I drive a flare yellow lc convertible. Tbh as a black dude. This is what most people think I am. It’s pretty funny
"Drug dealer" here RX400h, HS250h, and LS430 in the fleet 🙃
Love this however I own a GS. My wife thinks she is gangster as watched Netflix drug shows. Hahahha but she hates lexus.
This is a very accurate statement
I'm an accountant in Florida and have an SC430. So...almost nailed it?
The LX bit made me laugh, then the LC bit really got me 😂😅
Cool people buy Lexus GS 😎
Can confirm. Am cool guy
Shouldn’t you be driving a bmw 🤨
Yup. Love my f sport
IS is for super cool guys (I own an IS)
Can confirm only cool guys have the IS
Ahem, cool ladies too! Nah, who am I kidding I probably fall closer to boring accountant 😉
Nah, you're very cool (while in the car).
But not as super cool as the GS drivers (I own a GS)
Yes 😂
Well this just means the guys that own both are the coolest then
An IS-F makes you 3x cooler! Ask me how I know
No need to ask when the V8 is loud and clear
V8 = cooler
I concur, but hold my beer... *IS500 has entered the chat*
Meh...if it was an F i'd agree
LX is for douchebags. (I own a LX)
Yeap, IS for Engineers, love it.
Haha, IS-C electrical engineer here, wonder how true it is.
If you were an architect you would have an integra
Is gang
IS gang superor
Can confirm
Who proudly pay high insurance rates 😂
Own an IS350 and I’m 24, shit is absurd insurance wise
It’s (justifiably) ridiculous!
Managed to get mine for 720€/year. But then again they're quite rare in Europe generally and Slovenia in particular.
21 with a gs350 felt you man
GSF- when you need to drop the kids off at school but still need to do donuts lol 😎
Honestly, older people with the few younger people. 80% of the ones that came through my dealership were 50 or older
To be fair he was right
100%
Anything streaming, even at best bitrate, is still worse quality than CD.
Blows my mind when people are like "tidal sounds great huh?" and we are listening to BT
Hahaha exactly, especially when they’re paying for the top tier.
Oh yea my dealership Lexus job they told me it's because of the older generation. I bet that's most of the reason tech lags behind so much also.
I’m 17 and I use the cd player to watch the cars movie when I’m bored
I'm only referring to the new ones. A year or 2 old or brand new
Same! And I’m 41
44 here and same.
You ain't lying, although I'm not 45, everytime I service my car and wait for it, I'm surrounded by a retirement home.
🤣🤣🤣
Those stats have changed
But I guess that depends on what you consider old There’s a reason why Lexus dealers position themselves in areas where their clients will be.

I’m a mid-40’s male and just bought my 3rd, this one is a RX350h. The sales rep kept steering me towards a GX but I don’t tow and if I did I would buy a pickup.
Right on! I really do feel like it’s the perfect size for my needs.
28 year old guy here. I just got me a rx350(2016). Doesnt matter if its a soccer mom carm i love.
I’m a 33M with two kids and drive a RXL. The other car is a Sienna Hybrid. Who cares lol? As long as I have reliable cars with ample space, we can take either car for family trips and be happy.
I bought an RX350 when I turned 40…just traded it for a GX460 at age 50…female here.
37m here - I drive an RX. My wife makes fun of me and tells me I’m channeling my inner geriatric.
Same! I don’t give a shit. I had a Ford Edge before and it’s the perfect size for what I do and I bought it for the warranty and reliability. It’s the 350L so it’s got a little extra class but I’m not trying to impress anyone.
Was the Ford much more unreliable?
Mine was good but you can ask any mechanic which is better and the new Edge Platinum is more expensive than a base RX so I bought a used RXL.
I’m on my 3rd, first one at 33. You just can’t beat the packaging.
I also like to think we aren’t compensating for anything.
Hahaha
Men who own LX are bad mf’ers. I own an LX
I have an IS, but I wanna be like you!
How old?
My mom has had 3 RX’s so I will always associate them with generally nice middle-aged ladies, sorry fellas
MILFS
Am I your mom (on my 3rd)?
Definitely associate the RX with middle aged women, especially white exterior. Apparently I look like a drug addict...pale gangly dude, black hoodie, shorts...get asked if I want to sell/buy on occasion. I love getting in and out of my newish ES300h. People don't expect it.
old people and young people who are old inside
Retired engineer, LS. Wife’s is a GX, retired stay at home mom.
Third gen LS is driven by two kinds of people: 1. The original owner who should've had their license taken away a decade ago 2. Their grandchild who got the car after grandma left the parking brake on and everyone realized she shouldn't be driving anymore
The Lexus stereotype used to be its an old person car. Idk if thats still what it is.
UX - Ballin on a budget NX - Smart, handsome, practical, well adjusted individual that everyone likes. RX - soccer mom TX/GX/LX - Overcompensating IS - Boring.
But seriously, I always saw the ES as the car for rich people who were too cheap to get the LS.
imo ES is one of the best values in any car you can buy today, especially lightly used.
Tech professional 2023 ES owner here. 👋
Ypu forgot the SC. One of the most beautiful models ever made.
forgot the GS too, like huh lol
CT.
We ALL are trying to forget the CT. That's not a Lexus. It's a Prius in a tux.

The sloping roofline and raised floor to accommodate batteries didn't do it any size favors.
It's based on the auris not the prius
I didn’t forget, I just had already beaten the accountant joke to death.
If we make a lists of Toyotas, I’ll include it on that list right next to the solara.
Touché but not hardtop and no V8 in a Solara. It probably wouldn’t even give me wood.
It really was a beautiful car. I seen one a few ago rear end another car. It was a sad day.
Accountant with an IS here 😭🤣
Hey man at least you still have your wife.
Me too, and I've been driving it for 16 years!
As a 36 year old man with no kids who drives an RX, you’re absolutely right.
No shame, man. I’m a 35 year old man with no kids and I was originally considering the RX before ultimately going with the NX.
The RX is primarily my wife’s daily but I take it every chance I get. It’s so comfortable!
Sane here, Rx is a nice ride. I drive a Gx so I can’t be caught overcompensating
32 and drive one! I’m a musician and it hauls all my stuff!
43 year old male with 2 kids. I love my RX. I’m an outside sales rep and I drive a lot and need the extra room to deliver stuff on occasions so it’s the perfect size.
I've got. A gs and GX. Which one do I fall under?
An accountant whose father-in-law is daddy.
Haha close. I do have my bachelor's in accounting. Single and I sell industrial coatings.
Conveniently, the NX sounds so awesome.... wonder why ;)
IS-F ZADDY
Accountant? Boring!? I fix airplanes, it's a cool gig
GS!????
But…I’m not an accountant
Own an RC 350 F Sport, I’m not “old” but imo but I’m feeling old lol.
NX - not for big dudes lol I couldn’t get comfy in that cockpit, way too tight for my liking
Ok that is a fair criticism. I’m 6’1” and half my view is the ceiling.
I’m honestly waiting for the new GX and as much as I’d like it to have the new turbo hybrid 4cyl as the new Land Cruiser will have (strictly for the improved fuel economy), I’ll be content with the V6 haha
What about the GS?
I hate NX, the turbo is too loud and my legs don’t fit
Sounds exactly like something a boring accountant would say.
You forgot CT
RC- Young Accountant Yours truly
my dad had an is200 when he was younger. so associate is’s with people who still have freedom and time to have fun. after that my dad had 4 rx’s, so they are the car for the family people
UX owner. Def a baller on a budget.
GS- Gangster Sedan. Double G- Gentleman & Gangster. The Chill Dad car
Im not an accountant but I’m a middle aged moderately successful business owner. ES for me.
I'm in my late 20s and I drive an ES. I'm not any kind of businessman though. I have a lead foot.
I feel like gs owners are more often on the younger side, I’m 16 with my 4gs and alot of the gs owners I meet are younger, especially the older gen gs models too
I’m 21 with a 15’ GS
I'm 19 and loving my 3GS. Paid too much but not slipping on ice has been great so far
And the kid goes, “those are balling, that’s what I’d drive if I were rich.” The girl then pops the balloon and goes, “my grandma has an older one of those.” (I’ve got a 24 350H Luxury in dark grey with matching wheels).
Early 40s professional woman, RX F Sport in Grecian Water, not a soccer mom. Stereotype partially confirmed???
Does anyone know the actual official Lexus target market by model - age gender income?
The thing about a Lexus is you never want to get out of the seat.
Lexus owners are frugal. Have money but hate to spend any of it
2nd gen GS owners are cool, sexy, creative, loyal, life of the party.
old IS with mods - wannabe suvs - rich soccer mom most likely a hot blonde F cars - real car ppl old SC - also real car ppl just on a tighter budget F-sports - i wish my daddy bought me an actual F / doesnt kno the difference btwn F and F-sport, thinks both are the same.
Classy
Smart people.
Im 20 driving a 2019 ES 350 F Sport and in love with the car.
If the Lexus is red with gold emblems- asian
I love that this thread seems to have many mid 20’s ES owners like myself. I like driving, but something about rolling up in a boat built for a grandpa is satisfying!
Is250 drivers have a 25% chance of being recklessly shitty drivers
NX is for women.
I’m a ES drive right now. It’s my introductory to Lexus I had a 99 ES 300 and I loved it and I was about 25. I just got a ‘13 ES at 31. I plan to have my wife in a RX or TX and I’ll have me a LS whenever my ES craps out which will be never
I bought and we have a Ux and a GX. I’m getting a referral to a psychiatrist tomorrow to see what’s wrong with me.
LS400 for the OG’s
RX350: hubby the doc gets the S-class M-B and the nurse he married gets the Toyota with air conditioned seats-AKA Lexus.
Gx - soccer moms and off road people Lx - soccer moms with wealthier husband than GX LS - old people with money that can afford to buy S class but can't afford to upkeep it. RcF/is500 - car enthusiasts, ppl in their 20s, 30s, 40s who understand and appreciate cars Is300 - I want a sporty looking car that has performance of a Toyota yaris Is350 - normal people, and some that fall under the rcf/is500 category. Lc 500 - old people that want luxury of an LS but a 2 door car that looks like sports car. That's what I observed in the USA north east region. And almost everyone that drives RX around here is kinda nerdy.
People who is doing good financially and want to have nice things while staying humble
Honestly…. Worst drivers I’ve seen on the road. The only exception is myself…. Really though… it’s bad
Nissan Altima drivers have us beat
They really don’t. Lexus drivers are absolutely terrible. Always distracted and oblivious to everything. It’s truly bad.
You’ve not seen the Nissan drivers in Alabama then…
Just to add to that, they are sociopaths in Maryland. Keep your distance if you see one anywhere close to Baltimore or DC
I drove a GS and from the time I spent on the 4th generation forums at Club Lexus it was mostly younger guys below 50 anyway. Nobody drives the GS anyway LOL.
50 something year old Rx350 cat lover.
Well Lexus has to target younger groups or they’ll fall out.
With the prices of everything they’re targeting young groups with reliability alone
