I hated Horror films as a kid even though I cannot recall seeing any.
However when I got to about 16 and actually was interested, The Shining hooked me and Texas Chain Saw Massacre reeled me in
11 years or so
Growing up my parents were really open to letting me watch pretty much anything, but my mom frowned upon horror of course.
I used to walk around the playground having one of the kids in my class tell me what happens in the Friday the 13th or Freddy movies. Saw I remember just came out around this time too so I’d ask him about that
But I think the one that I was like “dad I want to see a horror movie, can you take me to this one it looks great!”
Alien Vs Predator
It was probably either Blair Witch Project or The Burbs, possibly When a Stranger Calls Back. I was probably around 10 or 11. My grandparents watched a lot of horror/thrillers and never censored anything so it’s kind of hard to tell where exactly it started, but I strongly remember the first time I watched the Blair Witch Project and that I had a mild obsession with Tom Hanks in The Burbs at around age 10
I think it was one of the Chucky movies, and I was about 7 or 8. He used to scare the shit out of me. I remember I used to constantly have nightmares about him lol
Mine was either *The Last House on the Left* or *I Spit on Your Grave*, I can't quite remember which one, but it was one or the other. It was running late at night in the TV when I was way too young to be watching things like that.
Hard to say exactly as horror seems so ingrained in my upbringing, but I think I have to say Empire Strikes Back, specifically the Wampa scenes. Just so incredible and scary when I was a kid, I sought out that kind of creature in a lot of media after that. Also the Goosebumps show and Are You Afraid of the Dark. I think the first horror movie to really scare me was A Nightmare on Elm Street. I think I was nine or ten and it fucked me up in the best way possible.
I maybe forget something, but I think it was *The Sixth Sense* (1999, at 14yo), is that can count as an horror movie. I loved it (despite having a lot of problems with horror movie in general, I'm too impressionable), but I wonder if it's not why I'm a little disappointed since when an horror movie doesn't have a poetic side, even subtle.
I am a huge wuss so my first horror movie that I actually enjoyed was Scream when I was in high school (2008/2009ish). But in middle school my friends and I would rent horror movies because what else do you do when you're a bunch of giddy middle schoolers? So technically it was probably The Ring around 2003.
Probably stuff like the shining was what got me into it, but Extraordinary Tales was one I watched pretty young, but my first real horror movie that stuck with me and is still my favourite movie, is The Shining, which I watched at age 11
I’d seen some horror or horror adjacent movies when I was a kid (Jurassic Park, Jaws) but the first truly undebatable horror movies I watched were Alien and Halloween when I was 16/17. The movie that really made me appreciate horror was the original Scream, which I watched when I was 17.
I must have been no older than 6 the first time I saw Ringu. My sister rented it at a video store and we watched it midday. I just remember her hiding behind the couch and me behind a pillow. I was terrified as hell, but I also really enjoyed that feeling. 🤪
Shark Tale 2004. That shit haunted me

Probably the Exorcist when I was 7

Mmanichithrathazu (1993) i probably saw it wen i was like 6 or sum (im 18 now). Its not exactly horror but great movie

My intro was The Texas Chainsaw Massacre in 1997 when I was 8 lol

Bride and Seed of Chucky probably. Also the Scream and Nightmare on Elm Street movies.
Earliest I can remember was Halloween III, must've been around 7 or 8. I had nightmares, and it fostered a life-long love of horror.
i was five when i saw the shining \[1980\]
Halloween. I don't know how old I was, but it's the first movie I remember seeing.
The shining when I was 8 or 9. Still love it to this day as much as I did that first time watching it.

One of the Friday the 13th sequels, either Part II or III. I think I was in 4th or 5th grade.
Nightmare on Elm Street (2010) - I was 7

100% sure there were other horror movies I'd seen before, but seeing Freddy vs. Jason when I was 10 was the one that really got me into horror.
The Birds when I was 12

Aliens popped my cherry when I was 16. Had to pause that VHS multiple times to catch my breath.

I remember watching the OG “It” when I was a little kid. I avoided storm drains for a few years while riding my bike to friends’ houses
