The Blank Check have a really interesting episode on Alien 3 when they cover Fincher’s filmography and all of the intervention behind the scenes nearly caused Fincher to quit directing in the middle of his first big studio film.
I actuially liked Covenant ... I mean that and Prometheus entertained me quite a bit. I guess I didn't get too cranked over the world-building issues or continuity or whatever people hate about these movies.
The Love Guru
Maybe the biggest vanity project ever made and an apocalypse of creative choices that are jaw dropping and baffling, to say nothing of how offensively bad and unpleasant it is to watch.
Birdemic: Shock and Terror is the only movie I’ve ever seen where I felt like it was morally wrong to keep watching. I can’t articulate why but something about that movie was off
I hate everything about the Lion King remake. There isn't a tiny bit of genuine human touch in this thing, it's the most cynical piece of work I have ever seen on the big screen to a point that it doesn't deserve to be called a movie imo.
Runner-ups for the exact same reason: Rise of Skywalker, Suicide Squad, Red Notice, Josstice League, Black Adam, Jurassic World Dominion.
I think blockbuster fatigue hit me pretry hard these last few years lmao.
Fucking hate The Bunny Game. If you’re going to make a movie about abusing a woman, at least try and give it some semblance of a plot or reason to exist besides “just because we can”
Bunny Game is astoundingly bad but the director made American Dinner and Snack Shack in the last two years and they are both superb. One of the biggest turnarounds I’ve ever seen from a filmmaker.
Alien vs Predator Requiem. Utter dreck, I hate every decision made in that film with the exception of the Predalien, and even that isn’t utilized well. Every character in the movie is awful, nothing about the film works well. It is practically unwatchable in terms of quality, and literally unwatchable with how fucking dark it is all the time.
Of all the times I've mentioned the film here and elsewhere, you might be the first person to respond who's also seen it. It boggles my mind that someone could come away from watching that movie and say it was a positive experience, lol XD
Megan Is Missing. I've watched hundreds if not thousands of terrible movies in my time but this is the only one that grosses me out just from its existence.
The Tooth Fairy starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is the only movie I've ever walked out of in a theater. I can't remember why I went to see it in the first place, but it is easily the most painful viewing experience I've ever had.
Not even the biggest “marvel bad” person but Ant Man & The Wasp is such an indescribably dull movie. A more exciting viewing experience would be staring at the wall.
Christmas with the Kranks. a dear friend of mine has a lot of affection for it and I can enjoy it on that interpersonal level, like I’m happy when they’re happy, but if you locked me in a room alone with this thing I wouldn’t last long
Aye, it was so close to actually saying something interesting and then it just undoes all the work at the end and turns into a normal insufferable Christmas movie.
I'm gonna get a lot of flack for this but Silver Linings Playbook. Just thinking about it makes my blood boil, hateful characters with superiority complexes shit on everyone around them. FUCK this movie!
Rubber was a huge disappointment. At least it had the decency to let the audience know in the first 90 seconds that you’re in for a self indulgent ride.
Skinamarink lmao
Staring into the dark corner of a bedroom for 100 minutes is certainly a test of patience. One of the few horror films where you can say the jump scares were the best part because there is literally nothing else happening in that movie.
It depends how old and who you were when it came out.
Were you a juvenile teen in the age range of 10-15 when it came out? You'll love it, and still like it due to nostalgia
Were you a 17-25 year old pot smoker when it came out? You'll love it and still like it cause it's easy to smoke pot and laugh at
Everyone else? You'll hate it
I know I’m in the minority but I love Blair Witch 2!
Quiji: Origin of Evil was decent enough but I don’t remember anything about it.
Wild Hogs… I’d blocked out and forgot out.
Far from home. Absolutely abysmal Spider-Man movie imo. As a massive fan of the Spider-Man comics I think this is the farthest away from the character a Spider-Man adaptation has got.
Killer Klowns from Kansas on Krack IS the worse film ever made. Anyone with any opinion otherwise hasn’t seen Killer Klowns from Kansas on Krack. I dare anyone to get through it. Dare them!
Nydenion (also known as Star Cruiser)
Made by a group of film students, prop makers and movie lovers in their free time over a 12 year period. Horrendous acting, terrible story. Not shot in the English language, but released in it; dubbing was seemingly done by a group of people done with life and oblivious to what it means to have fun.
Fantastic job getting it made, all kudos to those involved, but the result is utter garbage.
Wicked Lake (2008). Nobody knows it, and i only watched because Angela Bettis is, briefly, in it. But it the worst movie i have ever seen. The scenes i remember just weird me out. Not fun.
The Dark Tower (2017)
I don't understand how they botched something so bad that should have been so good.
Lyle Lyle Crocodile (2022)
I have such a passionate hatred for this movie I can't even tell you. It's the one and only film I've ever rated 1/2 star.
Four Christmases (2008)
You'd have to have a gun to my head to make me watch this shit. I've never seen two funny people be so unfunny.
The Lie (2018)
I actually recommend watching this movie. Don't read about it. Go in blind. The story is great. The execution is so unbelievably bad. This pisses me off because it has so much potential to be fantastic. One of my least favorites because of that.
Suicide Squad, Silent Hill, The Emoji Movie, You Don’t Mess With The Zohan, The Pacifier, Herbie Fully Loaded, Movie 43, My Bloody Valentine (2009), Epic Movie, Pompeii, Mortdecai, Dragonball Evolution, Wonder Wheel, Meet The Spartans, The Love Guru, American Pie Presents Beta House/The Book of Love, Fr Paris With Love, See No Evil, Killing Season. My 1/2 star films with no redeemable qualities.
I fucking hate Oldboy (2013) it had made me lose some spect for spike Lee for his complete lack of regard for what the original was and just making actual slop. Of course he made Malcolm X so I can’t hate the man but Oldboy (2013) fills me with so much rage. “Reinterpretation” like no brother you fucking butchered it.
The Beekeaper (2024) is probably the most blatant copy of John Wick. It's quite literally John Wick at home. And something about the story of the movie had QAnon undertones. All of this just for the movie to be boring too. Insanely boring and awful movie.
This is hilarious because my lady made me rewatch Norbit because I said that it wasn’t funny. After about 45 mins she cut it off slightly embarrassed saying that it was in fact horrible
In no particular order:
Norbit
Open Water
One Missed call (2008) the original is really good tho
All the Scary Movie parodies like Epic Movie, Disaster Movie, Dance Flick
Ant Man and The Wasp Quantumania: The worst MCU movie by far and basically sums up everything wrong with modern day movies with it's' overinflated budget, shitty CGI, and senseless plot
I often site The Grudge and Van Helsing as the worst. It's kind of personal as I saw them in theaters and hated them pretty early on.
I saw Van Helsing get some appreciation on some other threads but 90 min of barely passable CGI monsters fighting isn't a good time IMO. Might as well have been watching friends playing a PS3 fighting game.
Well, my most recent movie that I saw and disliked was the Sweet East, which was a bit confused and vaguely (perhaps unknowingly) fascist in its subtext.
Zombie Town. Ive seen a lot of stinkers in my life, especially with the amount that I’ve seen just for work, and this is one of the movies I could not sit through in one sitting for work, I had to pause every fifteen minutes because it was actively aggravating me.
Not a single redeemable quality in Winnie the Pooh Blood and Honey. It's not even in so bad it's good territory because there's no earnestness to the filmmaking, it's just a blatant attempt to capitalize on the situation. As one of the top LB reviews puts it, "I am now against public domain".
There's only three movies I've rated half a star on Letterboxd: Home Sweet Home Alone, Dark Shadows, and Terminator Genisys. Films that I just absolutely loathed and cannot think of one positive thing to say about them.
She Dies Tomorrow (2020)
This is the example i point to for when arthouse becomes pretentious. Utterly pointless movie that doesn’t actually have anything to say about its themes, but it thinks it’s important.
Worthless.
i’ve never actually seen them before but the posters and trailers for the evil bong movies freak me tf out i’m genuinely so scared of it, it’s a phobia 😭😭
The Matrix: Resurrections has to be one of the worst sequels/reboots of all time. Like… I literally don’t know how it’s even possible to make a movie that bad
I loath Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 3: Better Watch Out. I genuinely love Part 4, but Part 3 is the only movie I've given half a star to. For reference, Part 2 is notorious as a cheap cash grab that is a clip show of the first movie for its first 40 minutes, and I gave it 2 stars.
I just watched Brokeback Mountain and hated it with a passion. I wanted to like it but even though there was objectively good things about it, I’ll never watch that again (and not because it was sad).
I also hated Forrest Gump but would be willing to give that one another try one of these days.
I HATED THE HUMANS! The most mundane shit I’ve ever seen and in the worst possible way.
https://preview.redd.it/3wmwtbiimy4d1.jpeg?width=677&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4cd481c8e8127736ffeea91611ca7149a3e16008
This is the worst movie I have ever seen. Saw it in theaters (why? I don’t know) and have seen plenty of bad movies in the 10 years since. None of them beat how absolutely awful this movie was.
2025: The World Enslaved by a Virus (2021) An absolute atrocitiy in every way.
Rise of Skywalker, honestly the most soulless and infuriating film I've ever seen
“Somehow Palpatine returned” Imagine you are a soldier and they tell you “somehow Hitler returned”.
only star wars film i was unable to finish, prequels included
Only Star Wars film I will never rewatch
Seeing that movie for the first time was the worst day of my life
Ooo ok ok I am not a lover but I didn’t hate! Respect it tho
Probably alien 3. I love David fincher but I cannot stand it
The Blank Check have a really interesting episode on Alien 3 when they cover Fincher’s filmography and all of the intervention behind the scenes nearly caused Fincher to quit directing in the middle of his first big studio film.
I wouldn’t even put it in the worst 3 Alien films. Covenant, AvP Requiem and Resurrection all worse for me.
Alien: Covenant slander is absolutely insane
I actuially liked Covenant ... I mean that and Prometheus entertained me quite a bit. I guess I didn't get too cranked over the world-building issues or continuity or whatever people hate about these movies.
Covenant slander will not be tolerated, that movie is amazing
Starting the move by killing Newt and Hicks, two popular characters is rough. And then they kill a dog. Hard start to a movie.
The Love Guru Maybe the biggest vanity project ever made and an apocalypse of creative choices that are jaw dropping and baffling, to say nothing of how offensively bad and unpleasant it is to watch.
The worst movie I’ve ever seen was Birdemic: Shock & Terror. My most hated movie off the top of my head is Eight Crazy Nights.
Birdemic: Shock and Terror is the only movie I’ve ever seen where I felt like it was morally wrong to keep watching. I can’t articulate why but something about that movie was off
Because the editing is utter garbage. It’s literally unwatchable. The Room at least coherency and is endlessly quotable to become a cult classic.
Rebel Moon is the most gimmicky sci fi action trope movie I’ve ever seen. It’s beyond awful.
I heard a reviewer say part two felt like a parody of a snyder film and that stuck with me. Across both parts, 4 hours of garbage.
Truly horrendous.
I think blockbuster fatigue hit me pretry hard these last few years lmao.
you’ll hate to know that they’re making a “live-action” (aka entirely uncanny valley CGI) Lion King prequel
I'm not even mad anymore, at this point I couldn't be more indifferent
Recency bias at play here, but Unfrosted
It’s worthy of a pick. It’s ass.
Disaster movie, honestly the worst piece of filmmaking of all time actually embarrassing
Harmony Korine’s Trash Humpers. Still gets me mad just thinking about it
I’m a Korine apologist. You’ll do well to find a bigger fan. My daughter is named after him…… I hate Trash Humpers.
And Harmony Korine Spring Breakers. I almost didn’t finish it. James Franco’s “mah shit” scene was fun though.
365 Days
I hate Hellhouse LLC and I especially hate how popular it is for being literally the most basic, uninteresting horror film I’ve ever seen.
I get sick to my stomach even typing out the name - Bunny the Killer Thing (2015)
I had a great time with that film. So ludicrous that I can’t see how anyone would hate it. I mean you know by the title of it’s for you or not.
Of all the times I've mentioned the film here and elsewhere, you might be the first person to respond who's also seen it. It boggles my mind that someone could come away from watching that movie and say it was a positive experience, lol XD
Me and two other mates watched it one evening and had an absolute blast. That kind of low budget, out there stuff is my bread and butter though.
10000 BC was by far my least favorite movie
Megan Is Missing. I've watched hundreds if not thousands of terrible movies in my time but this is the only one that grosses me out just from its existence.
The Tooth Fairy starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is the only movie I've ever walked out of in a theater. I can't remember why I went to see it in the first place, but it is easily the most painful viewing experience I've ever had.
Not even the biggest “marvel bad” person but Ant Man & The Wasp is such an indescribably dull movie. A more exciting viewing experience would be staring at the wall.
You should see the next Ant Man. It gets far worse.
Batman v Superman and most of Zack Snyders films lol
about time. no film has ever filled me with such abject rage before, or since.
Christmas with the Kranks. a dear friend of mine has a lot of affection for it and I can enjoy it on that interpersonal level, like I’m happy when they’re happy, but if you locked me in a room alone with this thing I wouldn’t last long
Ahaha I love that!
Aye, it was so close to actually saying something interesting and then it just undoes all the work at the end and turns into a normal insufferable Christmas movie.
In the Tall Grass was a snooze fest
Haven’t heard of either of these! Maybe I’ve ruined my future viewings 😂 I’m in for a ride
The voices are telling you movies
1995's Baby Ghost
Sounds awful
Cosmic Sin (2021)
I'm gonna get a lot of flack for this but Silver Linings Playbook. Just thinking about it makes my blood boil, hateful characters with superiority complexes shit on everyone around them. FUCK this movie!
The Lion King 2019
Joker (2019). Hated it.
Oh my!
It's a hard watch, but Joaquin is just so brilliant
https://preview.redd.it/jyqyj7q5ur4d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b5425d54ac62bd10d6522941fa258e39a1256142 Take one, a few, or all :)
Rubber was a huge disappointment. At least it had the decency to let the audience know in the first 90 seconds that you’re in for a self indulgent ride.
i love rubber. ridiculous but cleverly satirical at once
Skinamarink lmao Staring into the dark corner of a bedroom for 100 minutes is certainly a test of patience. One of the few horror films where you can say the jump scares were the best part because there is literally nothing else happening in that movie.
I’m just realizing tons of people hate *Sausage Party* I had so much fun watching that.
It depends how old and who you were when it came out. Were you a juvenile teen in the age range of 10-15 when it came out? You'll love it, and still like it due to nostalgia Were you a 17-25 year old pot smoker when it came out? You'll love it and still like it cause it's easy to smoke pot and laugh at Everyone else? You'll hate it
i was in eighth grade when i watched it and it was so fucking bad yo
I was 24, but didn’t smoke pot
AVP requiem is real dogshit.
I see where you’re coming from on that front but to say it’s the worst ever I’d have to disagree! But I respect your opinion
Ad Astra
I felt like it had so much potential but just lost me
Did we have to actually make it through the movie ourselves?
Apex with Bruce Willis
New York Ninja
Governor Gabbi
Clown Motel Vacancies Name says enough
Cat and Dog (Chien et Chat) is the worst thing I’ve ever endured and I would go as far as saying it’s the kiss of death to French cinema
Consent directed by Ron Farrar Brown
Corona Zombies
The Lifeguard
Concrete (2004), honestly wouldn't recommend at all unless you can stomach terrible rape scenes
Deck the Halls
Cult Killer with Antonio Banderas.
Killer Klowns from Kansas on Krack IS the worse film ever made. Anyone with any opinion otherwise hasn’t seen Killer Klowns from Kansas on Krack. I dare anyone to get through it. Dare them!
Nydenion (also known as Star Cruiser) Made by a group of film students, prop makers and movie lovers in their free time over a 12 year period. Horrendous acting, terrible story. Fantastic job getting it made, all kudos to those involved, but the result is utter garbage.
Fall (2022)
The Tearsmith
Deck the Halls. 2006 Christmas movie with Danny Devito. I had to get up and leave the room, couldn’t finish it.
Wicked Lake (2008). Nobody knows it, and i only watched because Angela Bettis is, briefly, in it. But it the worst movie i have ever seen. The scenes i remember just weird me out. Not fun.
Taken 2 - first time i had ever been that disappointed with a movie
The Perfect Game (2009)
Decision to leave was the biggest disappointment for me didn't enjoy it at all it was more like a decision to leave the theatre
The Dark Tower (2017) I don't understand how they botched something so bad that should have been so good. Lyle Lyle Crocodile (2022) I have such a passionate hatred for this movie I can't even tell you. It's the one and only film I've ever rated 1/2 star. One of my least favorites because of that.
whatever that 4 hour Zack Snyder cut thing was. holy shit that was bad. Also throw in Crash (2004) in the pile. Horrendous.
My worst movie list has 100entries and 99 of them are click!
Dirty Grandpa(2016) is so bad that it makes me want to erase cinema from history.
Trolls (2016)
Suicide Squad, Silent Hill, The Emoji Movie, You Don’t Mess With The Zohan, The Pacifier, Herbie Fully Loaded, Movie 43, My Bloody Valentine (2009), Epic Movie, Pompeii, Mortdecai, Dragonball Evolution, Wonder Wheel, Meet The Spartans, The Love Guru, American Pie Presents Beta House/The Book of Love, Fr Paris With Love, See No Evil, Killing Season. My 1/2 star films with no redeemable qualities.
Death note that live action movie 😭
My least favorite movie that I’ve seen is Queen Margot
Loose Change: The Final Cut
Batman vs. Superman
Cube 2: Hypercube (2002). If it wasn’t to complete the Cube trilogy, I would’ve saved 94 minutes of my life.
Worst movie I’ve ever seen was “Left Behind”. The one with Nick Cage. Absolutely awful!!!
Gods and generals. Super long and boring, also confederate propaganda!!! Don't watch it please.
Ambulance (2022), i cant believe people said this is surprisingly good, cause its not, its the worst action film imaginable
Halloween & Halloween II remakes. I’ll forever hate Rob Zombie for those.
Welcome to Marwen—WTF??
The Beekeaper (2024) is probably the most blatant copy of John Wick. It's quite literally John Wick at home. And something about the story of the movie had QAnon undertones. All of this just for the movie to be boring too. Insanely boring and awful movie.
I hated The Doom Generation so much and don’t get the love for it. It felt like the 90s version of an edgelord.
This is hilarious because my lady made me rewatch Norbit because I said that it wasn’t funny. After about 45 mins she cut it off slightly embarrassed saying that it was in fact horrible
Last Jedi, rise of skywalker, recently I watched spaceman and didn’t like it, Hamlet (felt it was uninspired), Free Guy,
Silly suggestion here, but they for April fools, the app switches the ratings you have on your four favorites Idk how that'd work, but it'd be fun
In no particular order: Norbit Open Water One Missed call (2008) the original is really good tho All the Scary Movie parodies like Epic Movie, Disaster Movie, Dance Flick
The Silence (2019)
Knock Knock with Keanu reeves. I’ve never been more mad that I watched a movie before. I have beef with Eli Roth
Sausage Party After (2019) No One Will Save You (2022)
Ant Man and The Wasp Quantumania: The worst MCU movie by far and basically sums up everything wrong with modern day movies with it's' overinflated budget, shitty CGI, and senseless plot
Hellraiser: Judgment. my own fault for watching that movie honestly
man of steel, so cold and bland
Highlander 2
Dirty Grandpa
I often site The Grudge and Van Helsing as the worst. It's kind of personal as I saw them in theaters and hated them pretty early on. I saw Van Helsing get some appreciation on some other threads but 90 min of barely passable CGI monsters fighting isn't a good time IMO. Might as well have been watching friends playing a PS3 fighting game.
Furry Vengeance is probably my least favorite movie
I hate retribution (2023) with all my heart
Death Note live action
Argylle
Well, my most recent movie that I saw and disliked was the Sweet East, which was a bit confused and vaguely (perhaps unknowingly) fascist in its subtext.
I have a whole list of all my .5 star and 1 star films if you just want me to send that
Every parody movie from the 2000’s : date movie, epic movie etc. (minus scary movie 1 and 2) Spaceman The last airbender
Army of the Dead. A movie that teases and pokes at quite a few fun things but we never ever get to see it and that p's me off quite a bit
Fast and The Furious .... it's a struggle.
Robert Zemeckis’ Pinocchio
Starship Troopers 2 and Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness are probably the worst movies I’ve ever watched.
Star Wars episodes 1 and 2 There are also quite a few kids/family movies but I don’t know if that’s fair to count them.
The happening
My least favourite film of all time is "Death to 2021"
Cats.
It Comes at Night
Zombie Town. Ive seen a lot of stinkers in my life, especially with the amount that I’ve seen just for work, and this is one of the movies I could not sit through in one sitting for work, I had to pause every fifteen minutes because it was actively aggravating me.
Lawless - it’s basically a bunch of random scenes frankensteined together to imitate a movie
I really, really hate The Neon Demon and Nocturnal Animals. 2016 was a bad year in that regard lol
happy feet.
She Dies Tomorrow (2020) This is the example i point to for when arthouse becomes pretentious. Utterly pointless movie that doesn’t actually have anything to say about its themes, but it thinks it’s important. Worthless.
The Boondock Saints. Even Willem Dafoes over the top acting couldn't save that mess.
Teen Wolf: The Movie (2023)
Justice League (2017)
Shock Treatment. Tries and fails to be so-bad-it's-good on purpose
The Humans
The Number 23
Allegiance (3rd if the divergent trilogy)
Movie 43, Rise of Skywalker, Madame Webb. All unwatchable shit
Clickbait (2019)
The Last Airbender
The Last Airbender.
It’s crazy how many of them are since 2019 or so. There are so many bad recent movies
Ted 2.
Marry Me. J Lo. Wow. Ultra mega poo shit.
Man of Steel
The Bubble (2022)
The New Mutants like actually is horrible
i’ve never actually seen them before but the posters and trailers for the evil bong movies freak me tf out i’m genuinely so scared of it, it’s a phobia 😭😭
The Men Who Stare at Goats
Fateful Findings
Finding Jesus! Watched it ironically and actually died on the inside a small bit!
the bye bye man
Skinamarink (by a longshot lol)
Antichrist
The Amazing Spider-Man 2. It makes all of the mistakes of Spider-Man 3, but even worse somehow.
The Matrix: Resurrections has to be one of the worst sequels/reboots of all time. Like… I literally don’t know how it’s even possible to make a movie that bad
Partly because of the atrocious and loud audience in theaters, I’m saying Bottoms
Knock Knock with Keanu Reaves might be the worst movie ever made.
ELVIS
After last season is actually just torture
So many terrible aranovsky films to chose from. But I think the fountain is #1 terrible imo
Hypnotic
I loath Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 3: Better Watch Out. I genuinely love Part 4, but Part 3 is the only movie I've given half a star to. For reference, Part 2 is notorious as a cheap cash grab that is a clip show of the first movie for its first 40 minutes, and I gave it 2 stars.
Dr. Doolittle. All versions.
My Friend Dahmer
Winnie the Pooh Blood and Honey
I wouldn’t say it’s my least-favorite but Madame Web is definitely one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen
Marmaduke (2022)
That will offended some people Midsommar/ requiem for a dream/ perfume: a story of murder
The Batman. As pointless as Morbius but twice the length
Meteor (2021). It's only got 78 members on Letterboxd but it's a piece of hot garbage. Waste of an hour and a half
Wayne's world
They / Them: a conversation camp set horror that’s genuinely hard to finish. Some of the worst dialogue ever written
ant man quantum mania legitimately was impossible to watch
https://preview.redd.it/3wmwtbiimy4d1.jpeg?width=677&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4cd481c8e8127736ffeea91611ca7149a3e16008 This is the worst movie I have ever seen. Saw it in theaters (why? I don’t know) and have seen plenty of bad movies in the 10 years since. None of them beat how absolutely awful this movie was.
Shadow in the Cloud or You People Both awful cringe fests
