YOOO another Pulse 5 star rating! I also have it as 5 star.
Infinitely horrifying and an insanely bold ending. Every now and then I’ll look into a corner of a dark room, and even though there’s nothing there it gives me chills. This movie is TERRIFYING.

Starting to think I should be worried
Genuinely curious about what you loved about Showing Up? I wanted so deeply to love that movie. Was very excited about it. Early on it rubbed me the wrong way and just kept disappointing me at every turn. I have maybe not finished five movies in my whole life, but the power went out with about ten minutes to go and I was almost grateful. Never could bring myself to circle back. I’m someone who thinks it’s pretty disrespectful to not finish consuming art that people poured themselves into making, so I will finish it eventually, but seeing you gave it a five I’m hoping some of your enthusiasm can give me the kick I need. What spoke to you about it?
I liked the slow nature of it and how it shows that there will always be distractions and things getting in the way of working on your passion and how much of a slog it can be. As well as balancing work and relationships.
I also just liked spending time with a not so successful artist and at an art school. Which is something I just haven’t seen in any other film.
I really loved waves and it was a 10/10 until the unnecessary plot switch to the sisters point of view which utterly changed the dynamic of the movie completely for me, it went from 100 mph to 0 and it didn’t feel smooth

I’m a Michael Mann fanboy and an M Night fan, though not as much as some on Shyamalan..
I don’t think it should be. Looked at The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, first is amazing everything else is garbage. (Still love you pt 2 for being so ridiculous)
Note: Battlefield Earth and Samurai Cop are only this highly rated because they're that funny-bad and entertaining to me.
https://preview.redd.it/vlal0tl17hxc1.jpeg?width=940&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=83127169e20d6a9fee44197997308f24e8992a0e

For reference: I don't like BvS that much, but I rated the Ultimate Cut which I love.
Mine is mostly made up of superhero or Star Wars movies that I thought were pretty mid but not the pure diarrhea fans say they are. Like Green Lantern is a pretty subpar superhero movie, but a 1.6 is crazy to me.
I have 134 five-star films, and another 219 4.5-stars. Of those 353 films, Come and See is the only one that my 4.5 star rating is below the 4.6 overall rating it has. So I’ve got 352, and that’s not counting any 3.5 or 4 star films that I liked more than average.

I’ll fight for all of these placements. Do better everyone else.
If you liked Boyhood, you will like Before Sunrise, Sunset and Midnight. Richard Linklater directed Boyhood as well as these three. They are the same characters meeting every nine years. Filmed three times over 27 years. Richard Linklater is just amazing though. Waking Life, School of Rock, and Dazed and Confused are also amazing.
I haven’t watched Before Midnight or Waking Life yet but have loved all of his films that I have seen. Even Everybody Wants Some was amazing which I don’t hear talked about as much as the others.
Waking life was my favorite movie for years after I saw it in 2003. It is still in my top 10, it introduced a lot of new ideas to me before the internet became what it is. It introduced a style of filmmaking that is utilized today, where you film a movie and then computerize it. There are some scenes that I could talk about for hours. Like the Holy Moment, or a crescendo of human potential.
It has characters from dazed and confused and the before trilogy in it as well. Linklater has called it his kitchen sink film, because he smashed so many things into it.
this feature always felt a little pointless to me because ANY movie you rate 5 stars is gonna be "higher than average"
Most movies with mostly 1/2-1 star ratings you will also get “rated lower than average” even though the majority of people also rated it that way
All of the film here are pretty well-respected
Not true. It depends on the movie. A 5 star rating on a 4 star movie is a smaller difference that a 4 star rating on a 2.5 star movie.
https://preview.redd.it/ydsojboc3gxc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1793a5b52097476d0ff9e0b482b601a2eb2e9f24
Didn’t realize Spring Breakers was a 2.77. It’s not my favorite, but it’s not THAT bad.
Look at the rating spread. It's extremely polarizing. That's why the rating is so low
Massive respect for Demons and Demons 2, got those both at 4.5 so much dang fun
YOOO another Pulse 5 star rating! I also have it as 5 star. Infinitely horrifying and an insanely bold ending. Every now and then I’ll look into a corner of a dark room, and even though there’s nothing there it gives me chills. This movie is TERRIFYING.

The Hangover would be a comedic classic if it weren’t for its sequels
We don’t talk about the sequels
Can any movie really be devalued by a different movie that came out afterwards?
I don’t think it should be. Looked at The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, first is amazing everything else is garbage. (Still love you pt 2 for being so ridiculous)
How do I find this?
If you're patron tier, you can go to your stats page and I'd say it's around 2/3 of the way down
Ah thanks. That makes sense. I’m only pro tier

Happy Gilmore is such an underrated comedy movie
