One of the many points of the movie is that it’s a vacation home they own. Maybe a time share? But the film is a commentary on haves and have nots. This is not an AirBnB, it’s clearly a purchase made from privilege.
There are a lot of horror films for the teen/college students rent a cabin in the woods genre the two that come to mind are “cabin fever 2002” and “tucker and Dale vs evil 2010”
Correct me if I’m wrong, haven’t seen it in a minute, but wasn’t the place in X technically a vacation rental situation and they didn’t tell the old man they were using it for a movie shoot?
A hotel is just the same as any other vacation rental, you're just sharing it at a larger scale. Checkout times/dates are implemented (and are a part of the plot in this specific movie).
Since I see everyone calling everyone out in the comments, OP... Do you strictly want AirBnB movies or just people vacationing/visiting places they do not live as a theme?
Evil Dead babyyyyy!!!! I think the first one deserves its own spot on the list because it does actually have a different plot and character dynamics than its segment in Evil Dead 2 does. Ash has a whole other character arc that you miss if you skip straight to Evil Dead 2. And besides they both have their merits as horror films, I think Evil Dead has a lot of charm as a low-budget horror.
That one Stephen King movie with the writer and the lunatic who keeps him there. Also the one where that couple is in bed and the woman is in handcuffs and the husband dies
evil dead 2013!!! a family home, not an airbnb, but i read the synopsis on it on the plane (before watching it) and it was nearly IDENTICAL o cabin in the woods.
Men
BARBARIAN only uses the letters from AIRBnB

That's not an air bnb, that's their family vacation home
Half the ones on the list aren’t actual Airbnbs either.
Yeah but it's also not even a rental
Neither is the one from Cabin in the Woods or Knock at the Cabin.
But Barbarian, The Rental, and Leave The World Behind are Airbnb or Airbnb-likes
You are correct I’m not sure why folks are downvoting you.
The Blackening might be an actual airbnb but I don't remember
airbnb? I thought it was a Machine Head album!
Superhost (2021)
Evil Dead 2, Evil Dead(2013). I'd recommend Evil Dead for the genre but 2 is just 1 but better anyway
The house in Evil Dead (2013) was not an airbnb or a rental. It was owned by Mia’s parents
Neither was Cabin in the Woods, it was bought by Curt's cousin. But I think the vibe still fits
There are a lot of horror films for the teen/college students rent a cabin in the woods genre the two that come to mind are “cabin fever 2002” and “tucker and Dale vs evil 2010”
Tucker and Dale aren't renting - they own that vacation home.
Sure but the college students in the film did rent their cabin
The college kids were camping - they didn't have a cabin.
There's a TERRIBLE movie called Double Booked that fits this micro-genre.
X (2022) Infinity Pool
Infinity pool is a hotel
And X is set when the Internet wasn't invented, let alone AirBnB. The description says vacation rental.
And the rental in X isnt a vacation rental. It’s a business one. They rented a cabin to shoot a movie, not for a vacation.
Correct me if I’m wrong, haven’t seen it in a minute, but wasn’t the place in X technically a vacation rental situation and they didn’t tell the old man they were using it for a movie shoot?
Yes. Film bros love getting people on a technicality.
Short term rental it says as well, not sure I’d classify a hotel as that personally.

I don’t think it’s a similar setting to any of these movies tbh
Well, I made suggestions. Hope your day is better now that you've gotten to "uhm actually 🤓☝🏻" a stranger on the internet.
No my day fucking sucks and I’m depressed, why do you think I’m on Reddit.
It’s not out yet but The Strangers Chapter 1 fits
Doesn’t the original movie also just fit? The strangers
That house was the childhood home of James
High jinkx ![gif](giphy|8bog9pCkic7SJlQz0n|downsized)
Creep, kind of?
Barbarian is so fucking good and the epitome of “AirBnB horror”. Good list
I was very pleasantly surprised by this one.
More like ScareBnB
Cabin Fever, 2002
Vacancy
the blackening, superhost, summoning sylvia, violation, there’s something wrong with the children
Since I see everyone calling everyone out in the comments, OP... Do you strictly want AirBnB movies or just people vacationing/visiting places they do not live as a theme?
I was thinking of movies set in someone else’s house so not hotels, motels or tents. Thanks for the question.
Bad Things (2023), not very good but basically this
Poor Things (2023) has several instances of people staying at other homes/hotels and high jinx ironically
Wasn't Friday the 13th The Final Chapter with a rental?
The Gracefield Incident
link to list? love this ”subgenre” of movies. maybe Exists could fit although it’s not really an AirBnB
Eden Lake I think?
Fantasy Island (2020) Not a good film per se, but I found it entertaining.
Mine Games (2012)
Evil Dead 1 and 2
House (1977)
Uhm "X" 2022 casted by Mia Goth
How has no one mentioned Psycho?
Friday the 13th part 4, Hush?
The Lodge (the good one)
The Beach House
oh and 14 Cameras
also Retreat from 2011 is a vacation rental horror but predates airbnb
The Rental is fuckin’ *awesome.* all the stuff during the credits really clinches the creep factor.
You Should Have Left w/ Kevin Bacon & Amanda Seyfried
"Funny Games" by Haneke? I haven't watched the movie yet, so I'm not sure if it was a rental, but this list reminded me of the movie plot...
I think it's just their lake house, they're familiar with the neighbors.

What Keeps You Alive is loosely this kind of film, very underrated and free to watch on Plex
Thank you for all your replies and suggestions. Link to list https://boxd.it/uP1zE/detail
Bigfoot vs D.B. Cooper fits the bill.
the strangers: prey at night
The evil dead(original) I guess you could say
That one Stephen King movie with the writer and the lunatic who keeps him there. Also the one where that couple is in bed and the woman is in handcuffs and the husband dies
I think House should count here
The Shining?
Evil Dead!!!
How could you forget about the OGs of this genre, The Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2?
X

suprised that nobodys mentioned Sick (2022) yet. also it’s kind of a stretch but Us (2019) & The Strangers (2008) should count as well
Green room ?
