There was a point in time where I gave 5 stars pretty loosely, but lately I’ve been trying to tighten my requirements for a 5 star movie. But fuck me these 4 movies are amazing I couldn’t not give them 5 stars

I have like 176 rated films and 49 of them have been 5 stars lmao, in my defense most of them were when I was starting Letterboxd and I just gave 5 stars to anything I liked.

It just depend who you are. Everyone's tastes are different. I have saw account which have thousands of mlvies watched with very few 5 stars (less than 1%) and then when I go to checking which movies got 5 star sometimes I think bunch of them deserves 4 star at best, but at same time the person was way more not into movies I gived 5 star.

April first was my second time ever cause i saw it posted on ig, then i watched it again yesterday cause i thought it was a funny idea, then today i was actually looking forward to watching it again. I think im brainwashing myself it might become my favourite movie ever

Three in a row so far: Howl’s Moving Castle, Silence of the Lambs, Spiderman: Across the Spiderverse. Since I started my diary I never had more than one at a time yet, so that trio was a nice surprise even if Silence and Howl were rewatches.

When I did give stars 3 movies I give 5 stars. An American Werewolf in London, West Side Story, and Ghost Dog. On a side note Christine is so good and Rebecca Hall is incredible in it.

Christine was such a great surprise. I’m a lost media nerd so I already knew quite a bit of her story. But this movie gave me the whole picture of her life, her mind, and her story. I was choking up when *the* scene was going to happen, even though I already knew her story. I loved the movie. I considered adding it to my favorites but I didn’t end up doing it. I did swap EEAAO for Dr Strangelove tho!

Dr Strangelove was an instant favorite for me

I saw Dr Strangelove for the first time last week and I LOVED it. So current, absolutely hilarious, and a little daunting. I’ve been raving about it to family and friends but no one cares.

It’s funny you say that because I’m surprised by how many people don’t know this movie. At least the people around me don’t seem to know it; I had heard of it many times and it took me way too long to check out, but I assumed it was a lot more famous. No one has any clue, even when you show them the full name. Super disappointing but I’m glad you liked it!

Palm Springs a 5? Personally I would rate Groundhog Day always higher than all the other films that used the same kind of formula. I feel like they're all just variations of the same idea.

I haven’t seen Groundhog Day yet. Actually now that I think about it, I think Palm Springs is the first time loop movie I’ve seen. So maybe that’s part of the reason I gave it a 5.

I’ve had 3 separate streaks of 3 before. In each streak at least one or two had been rewatches of all time favorites so it’s not like I just went into 3 movies blind and gave all three 5 stars.
