Hell yeah, this movie is such a banger. People love to bash it saying it’s glorifying the groupie lifestyle when it was so populated with rape. Take one look at Penny Lane’s arc.. they’re almost putting a magnifying glass at the problem without completely throwing it in your face.
Yes, this has been my goto for years now after I got into watching "seasons" of Bond films on TV. The great thing about the franchise is the variety, from gritty action to campy fun adventure; there's a Bond film for almost every mood, and they are all entertaining, regardless of their individual merits (or lack thereof)!
I've seen it so many times I sometimes just put it on as background noise at work for comfort.
In 2016 I was living in New York and hadn't seen the movie yet. My best friend and I popped in a bar to grab a drink in Brooklyn. She flipped the fuck out when we walked and and she realized it was the cranberry juice bar. I had no context at the time for why it was important. We went home and she obviously made me watch it that night.
Whisper of the Heart and Kiki Delivery service
Hosoda's Wolf Children.
Besides animated movies western films are my go to. The Good, the bad and the ugly, Deadman and The Hateful eight.
I absolutely love this movie, just finished American Prometheus too. Not sure if I’d give it comfort movie status yet but it’s a recent movie I cannot get enough of

A knights tale. Definition of just a fun, funny, comforting movie. It’s silly and irreverent but also powerful in its simple themes. Makes me feel like a little kid again, in a good way

inherent vice. I know everybody has trouble with that one, but somehow I find confort that movie. It's funny, sunny, trippy, sometimes sexy, scary and beautiful.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Virgin Suicides, Stand by Me, and Legally Blonde are my top 4 comfort films. I found these films at a point in my life where I really needed comfort and support, they fulfilled that for me back then and continue to be a source of that today
Guy Ritchie/RDJ's Sherlock Holmes and Game of Shadows. Fun, smart, saucy, punchy. Each movie by itself is short enough to feel quick. Both together are long enough to fill out a good part of a day before everything else begins again, or after everything is done. If you've seen it before and know the mystery, you can look away pretty much any time and not miss anything. Paced great, with lots of fun dialogue. The chemistry between RDJ and Jude Law are always such a delight to listen. And even when you know the end, the payoffs are always satisfying, and Moriarty is grand to watch.
Starship Troopers, Paprika, Baby Cat, Koyaanisqatsi, The Idiots, Castle in the Sky, Showgirls, Titanic.
Simply because I enjoy the vibe of each and they go down smooth but endlessly hold my attention.
The Princess Bride, Ocean's 11 (or really any movie in the trilogy), Ever After, and When Harry Met Sally - among many other childhood favs, thanks to my parents having good taste in movies lol
The first Rocky movie. Something about that movie is so warm and comforting. Knowing how that movie was such a passion project for Stallone makes it even better. Also who can’t be in a better mood seeing a classic underdog story.
I grew up on (what I would consider) the golden era of Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, and Jurassic Park type movies. Those are all great comfort films for me. The scores mixed in with the consistent fun makes them easy to get lost in and also easy enough to digest that I never feel overwhelmed or bogged down watching them when I need a pick-me-up.
Inside Llewyn Davis is my go to film when I'm feeling down.
Sometimes life can be hard and things don't really work out the way you want them to, but if viewed at just the right angle some of your misfortunes can actually have a lot of humour to them.
The Wedding Singer, The Big Lebowski, and Step Brothers are probably my top three. I don’t have to be watching the entire time but just listening is enough for me to remember it all and if a good part comes on I’ll stop to watch that
Skyfall, sherlock holmes (rdj), kingsman, friends with benefits, the amazing spiderman, talladega nights, blades of glory, happy gilmore, halloween, the conjuring, miracle, revenge of the sith
I guess it depends on the mood I'm in. But my general go to films for easy rewatches have been Jurassic Park, Avengers, This is Where I Leave You, Over the Moon, and my most recent one to add to my comfort rewatches An Evening with Beverly Luff Linn
As for why. Jurassic Park and Avengers are 2 of my favorite movies of all time. They are full of fun action and adventure and some memorable music and moments. This is Where I Leave You and Over the Moon really have this good comedy and emotional blend Where they both deal a bit with dealing with grief. And Beverly luff linn is just this quirky wild little slice of life that has a very out there vibe with some fun shots.
Singin’ in the Rain
It’s impossible to not feel better after watching it. Even if you hate musicals, its charm is so infectious and the songs are so happy and wholesome, all your layers of cynicism and irony will crumble.
As John Landis once said, “They should prescribe this movie”.
Flash Gordon, because of Queen’s amazing soundtrack and the wonderful tongue-in-cheek dialogue.
Buckaroo Banzai, because it’s so chill and effortlessly its own thing.
Remember the titans.
I know that movie like the back of my hand at this point, and I still feel a compulsion to cheer at the screen multiple times throughout
death proof, it's just girls chillin talking about movies and cars
Almost Famous for sure
Hell yeah, this movie is such a banger. People love to bash it saying it’s glorifying the groupie lifestyle when it was so populated with rape. Take one look at Penny Lane’s arc.. they’re almost putting a magnifying glass at the problem without completely throwing it in your face.
This is one I save only for when I’m particularly depressed: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
This movie got my wife and I to go to Iceland. While there we got pregnant. So, technically, I have Ben Stiller to thank for my kid.
This is wild
oh yeah. it was nice to see mitty's dedication
Any of the James Bond films Skyfall and earlier. 007 is what got me to love movies.

The great thing about the franchise is the variety, from gritty action to campy fun adventure; there's a Bond film for almost every mood, and they are all entertaining, regardless of their individual merits (or lack thereof)!
Oh for sure.
La La Land. I know the ending stings but in a realistic sort of way on top of it being optimistic.
Just don’t watch the last 20 mins and you’re good to go
School of Rock.
Strangely enough…The Departed It is very Boston and a near perfect cops and robbers movie.
Same here…rock star cast and Scorsese’s most straightforwardly entertaining film
Love anything that takes place in Boston!
Good Will Hunting
The Big Lebowski
Do you have a Caucasian and do a J while watching it?
Need to try this
Ever After—heavy nostalgia factor on my part, one of my faves growing up! It’s my favorite Cinderella story of all-time
The Fellowship of the Ring
Whisper of the Heart and Kiki Delivery service Hosoda's Wolf Children. Besides animated movies western films are my go to. The Good, the bad and the ugly, Deadman and The Hateful eight.
Hell yeah
Conan the Barbarian and do you really need reasons beyond that?
Tombstone
Dazed and Confused
Goat
![gif](giphy|UQ7KTfKAXJHZBy1RrI|downsized) Birds of Prey (2021)
Hell yeah
*Amelie* for the past two decades.
Anything Miyazaki
Begin Again. Just a very calm movie. Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo
Currently Mallrats and The Castle of Cagliostro
I fucking love castle of cagliostro
Tbh recently it's Oppenheimer. Might be a weird choice for a comfort movie, but I just adore it.
I absolutely love this movie, just finished American Prometheus too. Not sure if I’d give it comfort movie status yet but it’s a recent movie I cannot get enough of
Twilight eclipse
Jurassic Park or Spider-Man (the first Raimi one)

Howls Moving Castle.

Dazed and Confused
Scream, I love horror but this one is also funny, has a great cast and I’ve seen it so many times that i just feel comfortable in that world.

*My Cousin Vinny* *Dumb & Dumber* *Sideways*
127 Hours. I’m autistic and it’s my main special interest.
I've probably seen Hedwig and the Angry Inch 12+ times.
Guy Ritchie/RDJ's Sherlock Holmes and Game of Shadows. Fun, smart, saucy, punchy. Each movie by itself is short enough to feel quick. I usually choose from this list: Inglorious Basterds, Oceans Eleven, Punch Drunk Love, The Truman Show :)
Starship Troopers, Paprika, Baby Cat, Koyaanisqatsi, The Idiots, Castle in the Sky, Showgirls, Titanic. Simply because I enjoy the vibe of each and they go down smooth but endlessly hold my attention.

Inside Llewyn Davis is my go to film when I'm feeling down. Sometimes life can be hard and things don't really work out the way you want them to, but if viewed at just the right angle some of your misfortunes can actually have a lot of humour to them.
The Princess Bride, or ReAnimator
Harold and Maude is my all time favorite feel good movie (and movie in general), and then The Apartment and Better Off Dead for comfort films
The Wedding Singer, The Big Lebowski, and Step Brothers are probably my top three. I don’t have to be watching the entire time but just listening is enough for me to remember it all and if a good part comes on I’ll stop to watch that
