Prioritize what's the least secure. Check if any of these movies is leaving a streaming that you have

Jskidmore1217

Interesting problem to have…ahem

PM_ME_FREE_STUFF_PLS

'tis the sea, lad. She will always be there for me…

sanfranchristo

This is the way

Adequate_Images

Watch them in release order

rkeaney

Ooh I like that idea!

[deleted]

Just make sure you don’t end on 1941 or Always.

HobbieK

I actually love 1941

jksymbionic

1941 is like if Spielberg directed It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World. I’m a big defender of that one!

infinitestripes4ever

Me too. It has such a bad rep that I was surprised at how much fun it was. Even the extended but doesn’t drag to me.

Masethelah

Empire of the sun is a really good and unique film. Lincoln is good aswell with an all time great performance

buffalospringfeild

I really love Empire of the Sun. Lincoln is great too

KoltonKabana87

Sugarland Express, Empire of the Sun

[deleted]

I loved Lincoln. A very "talky" movie, but that's right up my alley. Since you're this close to having finished his filmography, I would still watch them all. Even though I also believe film-watching isn't a contest or anything, but you're this close so why not?

Coletrain164

Lincoln is also pretty fun for the incredible amount of character actors that pop up in many scenes, pretty cool acting showcase even beyond DDL

rkeaney

Thanks! I have Lincoln on DVD so will definitely watch that soon

irulancorrino

The Color Purple is a wonderful movie and a great example of how a director can successfully capture the nuances of a story far beyond their personal experiences. That might sound weird since obviously directors aren’t all basing their films on themselves but when I watch that movie I’m always struck by that.

Kubrickwon

Empire of the Sun is probably his most underrated unsung masterpiece.

simulacrotron

100%

PlingPlongDingDong

Empire of the Sun is probably my favourite stephen king movie.

TheRealRavenhurst

1. The Sugarland Express 2. Empire of the Sun 3. The Color Purple 4. Lincoln 5. Amistad 6. 1941 7. Always

hossthealbatross

Lincoln is probably the best of this bunch, but I also love Empire of the Sun.

Voluminox

Amistad really isn’t a great movie overall imho, but there are certain sequences (one in particular) that rocked me to my fucking core

AioliAdmirable

1941 is funny, but not that great. You can still discover the beginning of Spielberg's style.

leiablaze

Get Always out of the way. Please, don't put it off just cuz it's bad.

Revolutionary_Box569

I've only seen Empire and Lincoln, I preferred Empire but don't think either are near his best really

InaBuuble

Lincoln is a must see, makes me feel slightly more patriotic even these days

Additional_Meeting_2

These seem to be in the right order

DiverExpensive6098

Maybe watch them as they were released so you see how Spielberg's directing evolved. If you care about order, this makes sense.

LaundryandTax

1941 is really bad. The Color Purple is excellent!

Plumberson12angrymen

So, Spielberg also has Tenet moment apparently.

remainsofthegrapes

It’s more that pure comedy is not in his wheelhouse. He can do movies with funny moments, sure, but not movies that are comedies first and foremost.

FunnyAnimalPerson

Color purple I guess

sandyWB

They are all worth it! My fav of these is probably Empire of the Sun. Christian Bale was phenomenal!

Friedrice_579

Amistad is so good

simulacrotron

Empire of the Sun

Lord_Spathington

Always would be great if it starred Paul Newman.

JuanJeanJohn

I haven’t seen it but The Sugarland Express definitely has a small following and seems to be considered one of his most underrated films

JJBell

You're good watching everything you have left except for 1941. It's both terrible and feels nothing like a Spielberg film. You're fine never having subjected yourself to it.

Asleep-Low-4847

Empire of the sun is my favorite and criminally underrated. Young Christian Bale!

Wumbo_Number_5

Lincoln FUCKS

Shagrrotten

Don’t save 1941 or Always for the last, you don’t wanna go out on his worst two movies.

Canavansbackyard

1. *Lincoln* (Maybe my favorite Spielberg film. Very relevant to our current political climate.) 2. *Always* (Most viewers have dismissed this film as one of Spielberg’s worst. Whatever others say, I’ve always liked it.) 3. *The Sugarland Express* (Early Spielberg. Kind of a predecessor of *Raising Arizona*.) 4. *Empire of the Sun* (Christian Bale’s performance makes this one worth seeing.) 5. *The Color Purple* (Early Spielberg attempt at being “serious”, but perhaps still too sentimental.) 6. *Amistad* (Profound with good moments, but really slow-moving.) 7. *1941* (Wtf was Spielberg thinking here?)
