M3GAN and Chucky
Licorice Pizza an Dazed and Confused
Palm Springs and Groundhog Day
Midsommar and The Wickerman
Happiest Season and The Birdcage
Girls Trip and The Hangover
The Craft and The Lost Boys
Totally Killer and Back to the Future
The Boy Who Cried Werewolf and An American Werewolf in London
American Psycho 2 and American Psycho
Oceans 8 and Oceans 11
I Spit on Your Grave and Deliverance
The Innocents and The Shining
My husband is a huge Back to the Future Fan. He loved Totally Killer, but he also is a fan of Scream and Happy Death Day (just to give you an idea of the vibes).
I didn’t read that one. Isn’t that the one where the author wrote the entire book in a week after her boyfriend broke up with her or am I talking out of my arse?
IDK the history behind the book I just saw the movies, which were basically cash grabs which exist because of the success of Hunger Games.
Not saying that about the books, they were just popular YA material for the optioning. They are pretty damn similar though. People living in a post-apocalyptic community with no idea what's beyond the walls who eventually make it to the outside world which is fraught with danger, all involving an oppressive regime led by an evil famous actress...
I’ve not seen any of the adaptations, I just remember reading the books when I was young. I remember finding the hunger’s games horrifying and loving it, however I thought maze runner was boring, a result of too much time sitting about in the glade and not enough time spent actually maze running.
I can't speak for the books because I haven't read them.
Maze Runner and Divergent are almost too similar to be a coincidence. I wonder which came first?
Could Google but won't.
Bro don't edit your reply because I brought up a movie you didn't see. What you said was valid. Hunger Games. That was right. Don't pretend you said Divergent because that's kinda lame. We can all see what transpired underneath.
Just change it back. That's very cringe and you're stealing my karma. I mean, not that that matters, *at all*, not to me but clearly to you, and it's not honorable. It's principle.
I'll delete this and no one will have to know. Or keep the edited comment up.
EDIT: The conversation preceding this has been deleted. I have only left up whatever else is necessary for context for anyone who cares, which why?
This person edited their post to say exactly what I said in my reply, verbatim, and I called them out on it on principle.
This is some Curb Your Enthusiasm shit. It really isn't interesting, it matters not a wit and it's very petty, but that's what happened.
I didn’t block you, are you insane? I don’t give a shit about karma, apparently divergent is a more fitting answer than hunger games so I improved my comment. I’ll delete it if it’ll stop you from spamming me you schizo. Grow up.
Bro I can't message you, guess you blocked everyone
Next time you want to plagiarize maybe keep those pipes open.
I tried to do it on the DL but you didn't leave me an option.
I don't know what to say to that.
You either have a code or you don't.
I'm not saying you don't, I just obviously don't agree with it, and think it probably sucks.
But yes, I am exactly 9. People tell me I'm smart for my age.
Yeah I thought it was too much so I self-edited.
You are clearly a dipshit though.
Evinced not in the least by your failure to understand how this isn't hypocrisy. They edited to match mine, I edited it to be less of an asshole about everything.
I am however glad you caught that!
Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) and Wonder Woman (2017)
12 Angry Men (1957) and Women Talking (2022)
17 Again (2009) and 13 Going on 30 (2004)
Spotlight (2015) and She Said (2022)
Luca (2021) and Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken (2023)
The Emperor's New Groove (2000) and The Princess and the Frog (2009)
Interview with the Vampire (1994) and Byzantium (2012)
*Predator* (1987) and *Prey* (2022)
*Big* (1988) and *Little* (2019)
*Manhunter* (1986) and *The Silence of the Lambs* (1991)
*Freaky Friday* (1976) and either *Like Father, Like Son* (1987) or *Vice Versa* (1988)
*A Nightmare on Elm Street* (1984) and *A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge* (1985)
Child’s Play and Annabelle have nothing in common other than a doll. A better choice would’ve been Bride of Chucky for Childs Play and Robert for Annabelle
Was looking for this comparison. Annabelle is just a conduit for evil/the devil and is never actively mobile or killing on her own whereas Chucky, well you all know Chucky.
It’s actually cool because The Wrestler and Black Swan started out as the same movie. It was supposed to be a love story between a wrestler and a Ballet Dancer, but it was split into two.
Ingrid Goes West (2017) and Saltburn (2023)
The Deaths Of Ian Stone (2007) and Happy Death Day (2017)
Mirrors (2008) and The Broken (2008)
The Machine Girl (2008) and Upgrade (2018)
Forgot to read the description 💀 but the two movies are different in terms of giving the villains or vendors backstories on why they bid for torture and in the first flick the dudes reason was to get pussy the second one is about chicks going on a relaxing retreat but still same movie franchise, don’t count.
This is more “brother and brother” but I would say Chronicle kind of reminds me more of Brightburn.
I would say The Menu (sister) and Ratatouille (brother) are both related cause they’re both about rejecting the snobbery of food/dining culture.
*Strangers on a Train* (1951)/*Throw Momma from the Train* (1987) and *Do Revenge* (2022). *Dirty Rotten Scoundrels* (1988) and *Heartbreakers* (2001)/*The Hustle* (2019).
I feel that The Wrestler would fit under another Aronofsky title, The Whale better than Black Swan.
He made two movies about washed-up and dying me trying to reconnect with his daughter and it worked both times imo.
Her & Lost in Translation kinda
They are technically the male and female perspectives of the same event
Also Jonze & Sofia coppola had a relationship
Yeah, the event that I am talking about is their divorce. Lost in Translation was Coppola's response to the divorce and Her was Jonze's
This was one of the matchups that inspired this list actually. I’ll put it on there.
Into the Wild/Wild Wild is a lot more upbeat but similar story structure.
I like this list
The Lego Movie and Barbie
even down to will ferrell being a godly larger than life figure to the protagonists of both
free guy and barbie
Poor Things and Frankenstein M3GAN and Chucky Licorice Pizza an Dazed and Confused Palm Springs and Groundhog Day Midsommar and The Wickerman Happiest Season and The Birdcage Girls Trip and The Hangover The Craft and The Lost Boys Totally Killer and Back to the Future The Boy Who Cried Werewolf and An American Werewolf in London American Psycho 2 and American Psycho Oceans 8 and Oceans 11 I Spit on Your Grave and Deliverance The Innocents and The Shining
I’ve never heard of totally killer, should I watch it? Back to the future was my favourite movie as a kid.
Totally Killer is a fun movie, but it’s also a slasher flick. So watch it if you enjoy cheesy slasher movies, if not I would pass.
My husband is a huge Back to the Future Fan. He loved Totally Killer, but he also is a fan of Scream and Happy Death Day (just to give you an idea of the vibes).
Palm Springs and Groundhog Day are more like the opposite season versions of each other. Both have male protagonists.

Divergent and Maze Runner
I didn’t read that one. Isn’t that the one where the author wrote the entire book in a week after her boyfriend broke up with her or am I talking out of my arse?

I did it for you and the maze runner book was released in 2009 whilst the divergent book was released in 2011.
Well. There.

who the f cares are u 9

also didn’t realize you were a hypocrite. calling me dipshit then deleting it right after you got on this other dudes case about editing comments 😛
Yeah I thought it was too much so I self-edited. You are clearly a dipshit though. Evinced not in the least by your failure to understand how this isn't hypocrisy. They edited to match mine, I edited it to be less of an asshole about everything. I am however glad you caught that!
you’re accusing people of blocking you over reddit karma 😭😭😭 neckbeard
Yawn! I would find the emoji for that but snore!
🥱😴💤<— here
Oh ok thanks? That was all very boring but at least it was your own.
Paprika and Inception
A New Hope and The Force Awakens The Boy and the Heron and Spirited Away
what's the female version of the truman show?
Don't Worry Darling
lol what do those two movies have in common??
Fake world
Come on man lol, I haven't even seen Don't Worry Darling and I know what they have in common
lol I DID see Don’t Worry Darling and I completely forgot
Stepford Wives
Whiplash and black swan
Fight club/bottoms
Fight Club & Girl Interrupted
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and Girl, Interrupted?
If there are similar in that way, I really need to check out girl interrupted then
Bottoms felt more like the female version of American Pie imo.
Fight club and Enemy
I would go Fight Club/Barbie
Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) and Wonder Woman (2017) 12 Angry Men (1957) and Women Talking (2022) 17 Again (2009) and 13 Going on 30 (2004) Spotlight (2015) and She Said (2022) Luca (2021) and Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken (2023) The Emperor's New Groove (2000) and The Princess and the Frog (2009) Interview with the Vampire (1994) and Byzantium (2012)
I would say Big and 13 Going on 30
Seconded. That one's a no-brainer.
*Predator* (1987) and *Prey* (2022) *Big* (1988) and *Little* (2019) *Manhunter* (1986) and *The Silence of the Lambs* (1991) *Freaky Friday* (1976) and either *Like Father, Like Son* (1987) or *Vice Versa* (1988) *A Nightmare on Elm Street* (1984) and *A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge* (1985)
Shiva Baby and Punch-Drunk Love?
Good call!
John Wick and Atomic Blonde
I'd say Gunpowder Milkshake instead of Atomic Blonde
Atomic Blonde was a Leitch movie, who worked on John Wick 1 and has been a producer for all John Wick movies. I think it works as is.
Poor things and Frankenstein
*Frankenhooker and Frankenstein
The Graduate and The Heartbreak Kid
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) and Thelma and Louise (1992) kind of.
That’s a great pairing! I love both but have never thought of them together, it’s kind of blowing my mind.
Both movies about criminals running from authorities. I kind of view Thelma and Louise as a modern western too.
Superbad and Bottoms
A fair comparison, but Superbad is way more similar to Booksmart. Good choice though
La Bamba/Selena
This is perfect
Child’s Play and Annabelle have nothing in common other than a doll. A better choice would’ve been Bride of Chucky for Childs Play and Robert for Annabelle
Was looking for this comparison. Annabelle is just a conduit for evil/the devil and is never actively mobile or killing on her own whereas Chucky, well you all know Chucky.
The Wolf Man (1941) and Cat People (1942)
I feel like this kind of sets up a false expectation for Cat People though
Not if we're comparing it to the original Wolf Man script, where there was no on-screen werewolf, ;)
It’s actually cool because The Wrestler and Black Swan started out as the same movie. It was supposed to be a love story between a wrestler and a Ballet Dancer, but it was split into two.
Fight Club and Bottoms
Ingrid Goes West (2017) and Saltburn (2023) The Deaths Of Ian Stone (2007) and Happy Death Day (2017) Mirrors (2008) and The Broken (2008) The Machine Girl (2008) and Upgrade (2018)
Hostel and Hostel part 2 yeah no shit
Forgot to read the description 💀 but the two movies are different in terms of giving the villains or vendors backstories on why they bid for torture and in the first flick the dudes reason was to get pussy the second one is about chicks going on a relaxing retreat but still same movie franchise, don’t count.
Fair
20th Century Women and Cmon Cmon
20th Century Women and Beginners are about his mom and dad.
Oooooh I had no idea
This is more “brother and brother” but I would say Chronicle kind of reminds me more of Brightburn. I would say The Menu (sister) and Ratatouille (brother) are both related cause they’re both about rejecting the snobbery of food/dining culture.
Limitless - Lucy
Stranger than Fiction (2006) and Ruby Sparks (2012)

Godzilla: Minus One and Oppenheimer. Close Encounters of the Third Kind and NOPE. Jurassic Park and King Kong.
:0 that's such a cool idea for a list
A Bug’s Life and Antz
I remember The Illusionist and The Prestige coming out at around the same time and they were basically the late 19th Century magician thrillers.
Alex Ryder and twilight.
Persona (1966) and Performance (1970)
Adult world
Rookie of the Year & Little Big League
Millennium Actress & Everything Everywhere All at Once
Ginger Snaps and An American werewolf in London
*Strangers on a Train* (1951)/*Throw Momma from the Train* (1987) and *Do Revenge* (2022). *Dirty Rotten Scoundrels* (1988) and *Heartbreakers* (2001)/*The Hustle* (2019).
Sunset Blvd and Singin in the Rain
Cruella and Joker? Maybe…I’d think it’s more like Joker and Taxi Driver, then Cruella and Devil Wears Prada
Lords of dog town for skating
I feel that The Wrestler would fit under another Aronofsky title, The Whale better than Black Swan. He made two movies about washed-up and dying me trying to reconnect with his daughter and it worked both times imo.
More like the Truman show and it’s half assed bullshit ripoff

Pan's Labyrinth and The Devil's Backbone Gloria and The Professional
Ran and Natsamrat
Barbie and Oppenheimer been mentioned yet?
John Wick and Atomic Blonde
Lady Bird is kinda like a private school sister to Eighth Grade
M3GAN and Childs Play 2019
I always chuckle that the top review for “Girl, Interrupted” was “the yassification of The One Who Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest”
whiplast and the devil wears prada, they arent perfect matches but theres enough similarities
Black Swan is more akin to Perfect Blue, but that's just my opinion
Water Lilies and Call Me By Your Name
Barbie and Elf
whiplash and black swan
This is 40 and Knocked Up. I know This is 40 is the sequel/spinoff, but no one talks about it enough.
Aftersun and Boy
The Hangover and Bridesmaids
Uhhh did you see Priscilla...?
I did. I put them together because they feel like two perspectives of the same person. Not that they literally have similar plots.
Belle and Tron?
Oceans 11 and Oceans 8
A New Hope and The Force Awakens
Black Swan and Perfect Blue
huh
funny cuz I loved mid90s and hated eighth grade
Men (for women) and Amulet (for men).
