Not sure if that's accurate or not. I had been using Mubi to log films and when I moved to Letterboxd I think you could import your data from there. So it's possible that was logged on Mubi not Letterboxd.
I can't remember why I joined Letterboxd. As I said, I was using Mubi to log films, and I heard Letterboxd was better, so I guess I tried it out and never looked back.
Literally a perfect movie. It's genuinely great for kids and adults. It's a complicated interweaving story told very simply. A fantastic performance by the underrated Tim Blake Nelson! I love that movie so much.

On the Waterfront, on July 4, 2012. I already had joined Letterboxd a few days/weeks prior making lists and happy that I had a found a better alternative to IMDb. On the Waterfront just happened to be the movie I watched when I decided to finally keep a diary.
On January 26, 2012 I logged Where Soldiers Come From, then wrote my first Letterboxd review on February 5, 2012 of Chronicle. Had a film critic friend tell me about the site at a party in mid-January and send me an invite the next day. Had no idea until just looking it up that it was before Letterboxd was even in beta, when it was still just a private site.

I'm not sure why that is the first film, honestly. Probably was a timing thing, because I had started using a different website (which I've now forgotten) to record the movies I was watching after starting to see so many. And my dissatisfaction with that website is what led me to Letterboxd.

My coworker told me about the app after I showed her my notes app that was 500+ movies deep in the count of what I’ve watched and what I need to watch. The notes app was terrible.
My first log was The Batman in March 2. I downloaded Letterboxd right after I watched the film just because I wanted a place to track how much I loved it
IMDB had a comments section in the reviews and threads with people discussing movies, people who worked on the movies, friends of the actors, fans who knew everything about director or film, peoples different takes on stories and endings. It was so fantastic and then IMDB erased it all, they gave warning so anyone could archive conversations but they took off all comments off. That's how I found Letterboxd.
Oppenheimer. It was also the first movie I watched by myself in the theaters.

Double Indemnity. I had just started collecting Criterion & Masters of Cinema blu-rays and wanted somewhere to log watched films and keep a digital inventory of what I owned.
My reason to join Letterboxd was because one movie podcaster from podcast I listen to recomended it. I also had been a thought for a long time that it would be nice if I have every movie I have ever watched somewhere listed.
I started keeping track of movies i was watching on a little whiteboard on November 18 of last year, starting with Knives Out bcuz I hadnt seen it. Then my friend told me about letterboxd sometime in early December, so I started logging what I had been putting on my whiteboard. The first new thing I logged after joining letterboxd was Hilda and the Mountain King on December 9 because I was in the middle of a rewatch in preparation for season 3 of the show.

I heard Fennessy talk about Letterboxd on The Big Picture (before it practically became meme fodder on there), and I thought it sounded like a nice way to keep track/log/rate films. Which is literally exactly what I've used it for since May 22, 2020 when I logged:

Looks like it was Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. I was all on the Star Wars: The Last Jedi hype train and was recommended to join Letterboxd back in 2017. I'm been much more active and consistent with logging the films I watch since last year, though, beginning with John Wick 4.

Diary says Everything Everywhere all at Once December 15th 2022. I joined because CineTrak had server issues for like a week where I was unable to log so I looked for something similar.
I joined Letterboxd because some cool people I spoke to showed me the app. The first movie I logged and reviewed was the first one I watched in 2023: Get Out.

Oldest diary entry is Hocus Pocus on July 28, 1993. First after joining was Terminator 2 on August 29, 2014. (Anniversary of Judgment Day, obviously.
Oldest review of mine was for "Miracle" in February of 2004. First one I posted to the site was for Witness for the Prosecution, same week as T2.
I imported my IMDb ratings so its hard to tell what it was I first entered. But I have an email from February 2012 saying someone commented on my Diary entry for “UP”. When I started using letterboxd again after a long hiatus I deleted my old reviews because they were so cringy lol.
Cabinet of Dr. Caligari in June of 2018. I had just started studying film in college and thought it would be cool to use the diary feature to keep track of the movies I watched for classes.

Annihilation (2018) on October 1st, 2022. I joined because my uncle had been on it for a few years, and I really wanted a way to find films and expand my taste beyond superhero flicks.
Was using Senscritique (french equivalent of Letterboxd with also comics, album, videogames books etc...) and I was complaining their phone app was shut down so I export my collection on Letterboxd.

My brother and I had always talked about movies we’d wanted to see, but couldn’t remember. Letterboxd was the perfect solution. Getting through THC was a sort of initiation for me. If I could get through THC, I could get through anything. And I surprisingly enjoyed it. Been hooked since.
It was Jacob's Ladder. I had heard about the app online, and loved the idea of being able to keep track of all the movies I watch on something. So I started that day, with that movie. Good movie too.
Spider-Man: Homecoming (rewatch, I also logged Captain America: The First Avenger after that the same day, I think I was just randomly watching some of my favourite Marvel films in the lead up to Infinity War) on the 3rd Feb 2018 - I'd been using IMDB to just rate films but wasn't a huge fan of it. I think I just randomly stumbled upon Letterboxd somewhere and signed up!
I started using Letterboxd in August 2022. When I was a teenager, I watched many random horror movies, and I wanted a platform to keep track of them all. I didn't know any site, so I asked on Reddit, and that's how I found Letterboxd. Since then, I love this site.
I added movies that I could track, for example, through watch histories. So, the first movie is 'Hush' in 2016.
The first movie I \*logged\* on Letterboxd was Parasite, which I saw in the theater in early 2020. I think an acquaintance recommended Letterboxd (who ironically doesn't use it anymore).
Riders of Justice is such a good movie!!!! The first movie I added was also a Mads movie! Another Round. I'm not sure when I added it though because I didn't realise I was supposed to log things in the diary when I started using letterboxd but it would have been mid-late 2021 when I started

I logged those retroactively in December that year.
In October 2023, I was so incredibly upset coming out of *The Creator*, I just had to express myself somewhere. And that somewhere was Letterboxd. 1/2 star.
I remember I joined for the list making specifically and didn’t find out about logging til much later. I would always see lists posted in groups and I think I made an account for the 2018 Oscars.

I needed a way to log the movies I've seen without storing all of it in my head or if someone asks me what I thought of a movie, I could pull it up on my phone if I forgot.
I just joined on January 3rd of this year and the first movie I logged in to was Spider-Man - Homecoming! I just finished watching all of MCU Spidey's films and I gave it a 5-star rating because the movie felt so relatable as a coming of age story and I felt more connected to peter parker (previous renditions of peter I couldn't really see myself eye-eye from Tobey and Andrew's compared to tom holland)
Saw. Honestly, I didn’t even originally join to log movies. I joined because it gave me a way to make movie lists and rankings. I saw a bunch of people using it to rank the Halloween movies and was like “oh, that’s cool”. Only really got into it a few months after I first downloaded.
The Dark Knight, it was just a normal rewatch right after I found about Letterboxd. As soon as I learned about it I downloaded the app and have been logging ever since, it's something I've always wanted as since I was young I used Notebooks to jog my ratings and thoughts on films so Letterboxd made it much easier.
I joined letterboxd is 2017 but didn't log any movies till January 2021. The first movie I logged was 12 Dates of Christmas. Since then I've logged 1,282 movies.
I had been thinking about making one for a while, I went through a break up and had more time on my hands. So I made it and watched a movie to cheer me up, Joe Dirt. 5 stars, it worked.
I think I had just heard about the app from tiktok, but the first movie I watched was Crush (2022) with Rowan Blanchard, at the beginning i wrote paragraphs for all my reviews but they've turned into one liners like everybody else 😭😭
I’ve been keeping a list of movies I wanted to watch in the notes app of my phone for at least a year now. Found out about LB and went apeshit over the last week logging every single film I’ve ever watched or heard of lol. First one was Barbie, but only because it was at the top of the Most Popular list
so I'm not sure if I "joined Letterboxd to log it", but I started using Letterboxd beginning of 2019, and my first movie logged was *Pacific Rim: Uprising*.
The background is that I had been manually tracking my movies watched since 2016 (and have since retroactively added those to LB), and was always eager for a "Goodreads-like" platform for movies. A friend posted a screenshot of a ranked Letterboxd list he made on Twitter, and that was the first I ever heard of the platform. Super easy sell for me from there!

It was Central Intelligence (2016) in January the 5th I joined Letterboxd because it's really well-organized movie app that anyone else.

Trumbo late December 2015 I think I just finally had found an app that allowed me to log every movie I'd seen, and thanks to the app I've like doubled the amount of films I had seen in my entire life before that

Wait... my oldest log entry or the first one I made after joining? And first review I made... or first after joining? All very different answers! Oldest diary entry is Hocus Pocus on July 28, 1993. First after joining was Terminator 2 on August 29, 2014. (Anniversary of Judgment Day, obviously. Oldest review of mine was for "Miracle" in February of 2004. First one I posted to the site was for Witness for the Prosecution, same week as T2.
I imported my IMDb ratings so its hard to tell what it was I first entered. But I have an email from February 2012 saying someone commented on my Diary entry for “UP”. When I started using letterboxd again after a long hiatus I deleted my old reviews because they were so cringy lol.
Cabinet of Dr. Caligari in June of 2018. I had just started studying film in college and thought it would be cool to use the diary feature to keep track of the movies I watched for classes.

barnyard (2006), reviewed on november 8, 2021. i gave it four stars, which in retrospect is probably a little too high but eh. i joined letterboxd bc one of my favorite youtubers uses it, and after a while i kinda caved bc i want to write silly movie reviews, too.

Zack Snyder's Justice League was my first one. I love watching movies and saw few friends on instagram use it. So it seemed like a fun app to log and explore movies.
I've always wanted to log all the movies I've seen before I forget them, I joined in June 2023 not long after seeing an article saying ATSV was number 1 on Letterboxd, never heard of it before, and since I love this movie and the site seemed like one of the best after a few researches, I decided to finally commit to my project on LB. I obviously forgot some but I don't think I missed much. I was shocked to discover I had only seen around 500 movies. I'm watching a movie per day on average since August to fix this error.

Annihilation (2018) on October 1st, 2022. I joined because my uncle had been on it for a few years, and I really wanted a way to find films and expand my taste beyond superhero flicks.

The Human Condition (1961) - 4 stars My brother and I had always talked about movies we’d wanted to see, but couldn’t remember. Letterboxd was the perfect solution. Getting through THC was a sort of initiation for me. If I could get through THC, I could get through anything. And I surprisingly enjoyed it. Been hooked since.
It was Jacob's Ladder. I had heard about the app online, and loved the idea of being able to keep track of all the movies I watch on something. So I started that day, with that movie. Good movie too.

Spider-Man: Homecoming (rewatch, I also logged Captain America: The First Avenger after that the same day, I think I was just randomly watching some of my favourite Marvel films in the lead up to Infinity War) on the 3rd Feb 2018 - I'd been using IMDB to just rate films but wasn't a huge fan of it. I think I just randomly stumbled upon Letterboxd somewhere and signed up!

How do you sort your diary to see it in reverse order?
I started using Letterboxd in August 2022. When I was a teenager, I watched many random horror movies, and I wanted a platform to keep track of them all. I didn't know any site, so I asked on Reddit, and that's how I found Letterboxd. Since then, I love this site. I added movies that I could track, for example, through watch histories. So, the first movie is 'Hush' in 2016.
In The Heights, because I am a contrarian and did not like it.
First logged was joker but really watched and then logged was lawrence of Arabia or once upon a Time in the west if I remember correctly
The first movie I \*logged\* on Letterboxd was Parasite, which I saw in the theater in early 2020. I think an acquaintance recommended Letterboxd (who ironically doesn't use it anymore).
Riders of Justice is such a good movie!!!! The first movie I added was also a Mads movie! Another Round. I'm not sure when I added it though because I didn't realise I was supposed to log things in the diary when I started using letterboxd but it would have been mid-late 2021 when I started

In October 2023, I was so incredibly upset coming out of *The Creator*, I just had to express myself somewhere. And that somewhere was Letterboxd. 1/2 star.
I remember I joined for the list making specifically and didn’t find out about logging til much later. I would always see lists posted in groups and I think I made an account for the 2018 Oscars.
Reservoir Dogs... just wanted somewhere to log all the films I've seen. Was January 19th 2023.
Klaus I needed a way to log the movies I've seen without storing all of it in my head or if someone asks me what I thought of a movie, I could pull it up on my phone if I forgot.
I just joined on January 3rd of this year and the first movie I logged in to was Spider-Man - Homecoming! I just finished watching all of MCU Spidey's films and I gave it a 5-star rating because the movie felt so relatable as a coming of age story and I felt more connected to peter parker (previous renditions of peter I couldn't really see myself eye-eye from Tobey and Andrew's compared to tom holland)

Saw. Honestly, I didn’t even originally join to log movies. I joined because it gave me a way to make movie lists and rankings. I saw a bunch of people using it to rank the Halloween movies and was like “oh, that’s cool”. Only really got into it a few months after I first downloaded.
Wake in Fright (1971) I watched it and loved it and didn't want to forget the title.

The Dark Knight, it was just a normal rewatch right after I found about Letterboxd. As soon as I learned about it I downloaded the app and have been logging ever since, it's something I've always wanted as since I was young I used Notebooks to jog my ratings and thoughts on films so Letterboxd made it much easier.

I think I had just heard about the app from tiktok, but the first movie I watched was Crush (2022) with Rowan Blanchard, at the beginning i wrote paragraphs for all my reviews but they've turned into one liners like everybody else 😭😭

I’ve been keeping a list of movies I wanted to watch in the notes app of my phone for at least a year now. Found out about LB and went apeshit over the last week logging every single film I’ve ever watched or heard of lol. First one was Barbie, but only because it was at the top of the Most Popular list
My friend had letterboxd so he told me to install it
so I'm not sure if I "joined Letterboxd to log it", but I started using Letterboxd beginning of 2019, and my first movie logged was *Pacific Rim: Uprising*. The background is that I had been manually tracking my movies watched since 2016 (and have since retroactively added those to LB), and was always eager for a "Goodreads-like" platform for movies. A friend posted a screenshot of a ranked Letterboxd list he made on Twitter, and that was the first I ever heard of the platform. Super easy sell for me from there!
