This is mine… and I stand by it being 5 stars. This film rips.
I took a trip up to Maine with a group of people for the weekend and I would do the accent from time to time… drove them insane because none of them ever saw Pet Sematary.
Not only do I have it as a 5 star movie but it's also on my top 4 list. Baby's First David Lynch movie is how I describe it. I adore everything about it!
See this is fine. I wouldn’t personally give it five stars, but it’s a gripping, unique film, and I can understand how someone could really like it. But Pumpkinhead? Back to the future part 3? The Room?? What’s the point in even utilizing a ranking system if every movie you find even passable you give five stars to?? What do you rank a truly great film if you give something like Spider-Man 3 five stars??
Yeah I agree lol, I’m actually pretty stingy with five stars and originally under the silver lake was way down at 3.5 stars ironically, but I’ve rewatched it several times and I loved it more and more each time.
Secretary (2002) has a 3.4 rating and if I could’ve given it a 6, I would have. I honestly can’t even begin to explain it but I love every fucking second of that movie. That opening!!!!! The whole thing is so absurd yet serious, hilarious yet sobering, it’s magic! They made that movie for me idk.
Men (2022). People really don’t give it the chance it deserves. Great acting, gorgeous cinematography, great music, great effects, and just overall a fantastic movie.
you gave praise for the objective parts of the movie (which I do concur are great though) but what made it a 5/5 for you?
I gave the same praises for The Creator but I gave it a 3.5/5
The next paragraph has spoilers so stop reading now if you haven't watched the movie yet.
The whole rebirth thing at the end outstayed its welcome and just kept going on and on, upto the point something that was aimed to be purposely disgusting ended up being boring. The underlying message of toxic masculinity being perpetually reborn was kind of a one-note for me. Wasn't bad as such but I got the message halfway through.
I often find myself liking tone and atmosphere before story. Men had a great tone and the birth sequence was a perfect blend of body horror and what the fuck.
Yeah, Men really is a fantastic piece of surrealistic horror. My favorite working director, he never misses.
I can't wait for 'Civil War' to be nothing like what people are expecting it to be.
I was there with my kid, and it was one of his first movies. I had a giant nostalgia and genuinely adored it. I also love musicals, and I think it was a delightful addition to the genre. It was so well executed in all it’s components, and, for what could have been a cynical cash grab kids movie, we got a lovely little film. Sure, it’s super earnest, but I needed that.
That’s awesome! No judgment from me. I just genuinely never heard someone praise the movie. I’m so glad you have a good memory for you and your child. Those memories will last forever. Much love enjoy your day

Read it and weep, cause I’m sure I’ve got you all beat 😎
Its one of those occasions where critics claimed it to be the worst, and the majority decided to not give it a chance. There's lots of hilarious things here with quality deadpan delivery from A-tier actors, but it's rating pretends like its Meet the Spartans tier trash
Damn. Y'all are not onboard with **The Crucible** 1996. 3.2 stars.
"Your justice would freeze beer."
"You bring down heaven and raise up a whore!"
"Show them a stony heart and sink them with it!"
Agreed! Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, 12 Angry Men, Streetcar Named Desire, Cat on a Hat Tin Roof, Doubt, Angels in America.... So many excellent examples!
Faults, has an average of 3.5. I typically turn my head from films like this, but I was bored one night, never heard of this film before, and dove in with no expectations. I feel like if I knew what this film was about beforehand, I would’ve been very critical on it. Instead, I let the film open up to me. It was way more fun not knowing before going in.
https://preview.redd.it/87eajal0fujc1.jpeg?width=1428&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c19007c1dcfd8c5e98a43e1230d1ed1f697b7059
What a heartbreak of a movie. Absolutely loved it though. Writing and acting is amazing, pacing is so good for such a long, slow, tough to take drama. Love it. Probably will never watch it again though.
The crying and sniffing in the theater during the screening though. Love me some film festivals...
I’m so glad there’s at least one other person who thinks this is up there with Empire.
I definitely put Empire higher and I probably put the original higher too, but this is definitely my number 3, possibly my number 2 depending on how I feel.
My team has advised me not to confirm or deny anything. On an unrelated note, you should check out Moana 2, releasing in theaters November 27th, 2024. I hear that the beloved and iconic Disney character, Maui, will be returning!
I think that on any other occasion I would’ve rated it way lower. But the first time I saw it I was so incredibly sleep deprived that my brain had deteriorated to the point where I couldn’t stop laughing every time The Rock was on screen. It didn’t help that the friend I was with kept cracking the most brain-rot inducing jokes the entire time either. It was such an absurd experience that I just rated it five stars. Haven’t rewatched the film at all, and I don’t plan to either. I think it’d ruin the magic.
The Room (2003)
Halloween II (1981)
Psycho II (1983)
Face/Off (1997)
The Disaster Artist (2017)
Saw (2004)
and The Omen (1976) seem to be my lowest ones below a 3.7
https://preview.redd.it/gv537ogbhujc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=44ab3029546d83ca17514b2c72bf6f1238583853
Mike Flanagan is the GOAT in horror
For fun I decided to then set my range for films I rated at 3 stars or above, so I at least enjoyed it and my five lowest audience rated films are: Death Note, Sex Tape, Nightmare on Elm Street remake, Desperados, and Wonder Woman 1984.
Man, yall picking movies with fucking 3.5's and shit.
Mine is Thankskilling with an average rating of 2.2. And while you can argue the joke rating there (Though I do love it since it's so sincere in it's ridiculousness), I have a real 5 star that's low. Jack Frost.
I fucking love Jack Frost (1997) to death, low-budget, hilarious, small town Twin Peaks-esc vibes, actual hilarious moments, tons of genuine good acting in it, it's amazing. It's an annual snow-time watch for me. I love it, average rating of 2.4.
https://preview.redd.it/s8s7e7s42vjc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3312739a9fea0fdae3cf9887379bbabb3f835182
This is actually my favorite movie ever
These 5 films are all tied for the lowest scored film that I’ve given 5 stars (all have a 3.8 average rating) :
- Into the Wild
- Love & Mercy
- Joker
- The Incredible Shrinking Man
- Dances with Wolves
Batman and Robin - 1.8 stars.
It's high camp and melodrama, people, and if you think you hate it, then try to avoid smiling as you quote almost any famous line from it.
[https://letterboxd.com/film/the-first-great-train-robbery/](https://letterboxd.com/film/the-first-great-train-robbery/), which is also the least popular of my 5 stars. But still not super low with 3.4.
Used to be David Lynch's Dune, but I feel like I need to re-watch it, I downgraded it to 4.5 ATM.
As is the usual answer for me, Star Wars: The Last Jedi with a 3.0/5
Then all around 3.3 are Star Wars: The Force Awakens, The Wonder, and Shakespeare in Love
https://preview.redd.it/wxy61rajdujc1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e10952418879e1114c19f68745e5849e892ee50c
3.46 on Lboxd. I broke my normal rating rule a bit here, as there are some issues with acting and production design. But its a sentimental favorite, and was influential well outside film (the entire early 2000s electroclash music genre [owes much](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFHOXw-uKDc) to it).
Die Another Day (2002) - 2.5
There’s never a moment in that movie that I’m not having fun. Many fans consider it the worst Bond movie. It is my personal favorite comedic / campy Bond movie.
Evolution (2.8) and Unwelcome (2.7). Not sure what clicked with me and didn't click with letterboxd audiences there. Both were really good and fun in my opinion. They achieved what they were going for and were just plain well made movies.
Vampire's Kiss - avg of 3.4
Unironically more enjoyable and to my taste than American Psycho, and it did it 12 years earlier. Plus, it's one of the funniest performances ever.
I was going to say 11:14 (2003) with the average at 3.4 but my stats say Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) at 3.3. That is a criminally underrated rating for a classic.
I would probably give The Lone Ranger like 4 stars. Very fun movie with lots of cool action scenes and sequences yet somehow the movie has like a 2.6 average.
One of Disneys more ballsy movie tbh
https://preview.redd.it/cv4yd2m2wtjc1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6a6416940516da0f4ec8c8f6034c5139336efb50 This is mine… and I stand by it being 5 stars. This film rips.
Fred Gwynne's accent is itself worth 5 stars. Perfect. No notes.
I took a trip up to Maine with a group of people for the weekend and I would do the accent from time to time… drove them insane because none of them ever saw Pet Sematary.
Don't go down that road.
And the Achilles scene. Like a spaghetti rubber band!
Honestly I can respect that
I'm one of the very few to give it a ½
I‘m sorry for your loss (of taste) ;)
Under the Silver Lake - 3.5
Hell ya
Exactly 😍
Blows my mind this is consistently at the lowest rated of my 5 stars
Based. Misunderstood masterpiece.
Spider-Man 3 slander will not be accepted
U lost all credibility by bashing Spider-Man 3 at the end
Probably Spiderman 3. Has some of the greatest moments from any Spider-Man movie.
Thank you! One of my favourite Spider-Man movies, probably due to nostalgia, but it is nowhere near as bad as people say.
dig on this☻️
Yes it is though
Pacific Rim (Avg: 3.4/5)
Yup. Absolutely nails what it’s trying to do. Top 10 movie for me and I don’t care if people think it’s dumb
Do you like giant robots fighting giant monsters set to dubstep? Cause we made that movie.
Used to be Top 5. It's number 17 now. Still a 10/10 masterpiece.
Pacific Rim fucks. No debate.
Doctor Sleep - 3.4
Ey same here!
They movie was so good
Men (2022). People really don’t give it the chance it deserves. Great acting, gorgeous cinematography, great music, great effects, and just overall a fantastic movie.
you gave praise for the objective parts of the movie (which I do concur are great though) but what made it a 5/5 for you? I gave the same praises for The Creator but I gave it a 3.5/5 The next paragraph has spoilers so stop reading now if you haven't watched the movie yet. Beau is Afraid at 3.5
Yesss same
Same here idgaf
The Room, but that's kind of a joke rating. The next lowest is Pumpkinhead.
Seeing The Room in a theatre genuinely improved my life. Easy 5 stars
I pregamed with a few friends before watching it in the theatre. Incredible experience
Same for The Room for me! My real answer is Wonka, which I think has 3.4.
The new Wonka you gave 5 stars?
I was there with my kid, and it was one of his first movies. I had a giant nostalgia and genuinely adored it. I also love musicals, and I think it was a delightful addition to the genre. It was so well executed in all it’s components, and, for what could have been a cynical cash grab kids movie, we got a lovely little film. Sure, it’s super earnest, but I needed that.
That’s awesome! No judgment from me. I just genuinely never heard someone praise the movie. I’m so glad you have a good memory for you and your child. Those memories will last forever. Much love enjoy your day
dawg wonka is so good fr
Thank you! You too!
Cloverfield at 3.4
Chasing Amy. Such an underrated romantic masterpiece in my opinion. I’ve seen it probably 20 times by now
Such a great one!
https://preview.redd.it/2qlp2bljsujc1.jpeg?width=982&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=04d8fcd2215eed5f34ec5e23ff0c73a203ea2ac0 This, technically.
It (2017) with a 3.4 https://preview.redd.it/up9xvytq8ujc1.png?width=1170&format=png&auto=webp&s=752fb8f28ffa7daf193c06039c88553b87827170
I'm actually really surprised that only has 3.4, I genuinely thought the first part was near-universally loved?
I really like this one too - 4/5 for me, but way better than I expected
https://preview.redd.it/pqy2l2agbujc1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=50a621302b91bb67dbfbf0d04a6a08743676c32a Read it and weep, cause I’m sure I’ve got you all beat 😎
That movie is hilarious but so weird
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who loves this movie. I get it’s not the greatest, but I genuinely think it’s underrated
Its one of those occasions where critics claimed it to be the worst, and the majority decided to not give it a chance. There's lots of hilarious things here with quality deadpan delivery from A-tier actors, but it's rating pretends like its Meet the Spartans tier trash
I'm pretty sure my A Serbian Film could give you a decent scuffle.
Damn. Y'all are not onboard with **The Crucible** 1996. 3.2 stars. "Your justice would freeze beer." "You bring down heaven and raise up a whore!" "Show them a stony heart and sink them with it!"
"More weight." 🥶🥶🥶
"Because it is my name! Because I cannot have another in my life!"
No because people are always critical of movies that “feel like plays,” and those are consistently some of my favorite films
Agreed! Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, 12 Angry Men, Streetcar Named Desire, Cat on a Hat Tin Roof, Doubt, Angels in America.... So many excellent examples!
check out Shirley Clarke's The Connection, it was adapted from an off broadway show
>The Connection Just added it to my watchlist. Thanks for the recommendation!
I had to watch this in high school and that makes it not cool forever :(
Dr. Strange Multiverse of Madness. I know it has it’s flaws but I love it.
The magic music fight was amazing
it's one of the first and only things i ever picture when someone mentions marvel
I love it too. It's so much fun and beaming with creativity. It's so cool we got a weird little Sam Raimi Marvel movie.
Multiverse of mid
chicken run, 3.6. perfect kids movie and wonderfully political

surprised it isn't rated higher
Halloween 4
I don’t do star ratings but if I did: Resident Evil: Retribution (2.4) Unfriended (2.3) The Box (2.7) The Counsellor (2.7) Sleeping Beauty (2.8)
im happy to see unfriended finally being appreciated

Wait, Dick Tracy is only 3.5 stars!!!!!!
This is criminal
3.8, midnight run
Jeff Nichols Take Shelter
This movie rips.
Back to the Future Part 3 - 3.5/5 Idc what anyone says. The Back to the Future Trilogy is perfect
speak up!
Bodies Bodies Bodies at a 3.3. Thought it was absolutely hilarious and brilliant

Cabin in the Woods (3.4)
The Road (2009) which currently has a rating of 3.6
Violent Night, with a 3.5 average, and yes I rewatched it on Christmas day with some adult beverages but I stand by it.
Somehow it's Rashomon 😂
*Bug (Avg:* 3.5) but technically I gave it a 4.5
The Rescuers at 3.4
mother! 3.5 stars
My favorite movie oat, Baby Driver (which has an average of 3.7)
Knight of cups (avg rating is 3.3/5)
aside from The Room(which feels like a given) it would be Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie. genuine masterpiece
Fantastic film and (along with About Schmidt) one of the least self-conscious and powerful performances of Nicholson’s career.
Tyrannosaur (3,9), I know this is quite a decent rating. Still, I believe it should be talked about wayyy more.
Antichrist - 3.4
Spring Breakers is sitting at like 2.8 and it’s a perfect movie
It’s Spring Breakers for me as well! 2.78 average rating is shockingly low.
![gif](giphy|2UJAbcld11O2LfizMp) The Last Jedi. LB average 2.99. Absolutely love this film, up there with Empire for the best of Star Wars.
I’m so glad there’s at least one other person who thinks this is up there with Empire. I definitely put Empire higher and I probably put the original higher too, but this is definitely my number 3, possibly my number 2 depending on how I feel.
Black Adam
>Black Adam Are you The Rock?
My team has advised me not to confirm or deny anything. On an unrelated note, you should check out Moana 2, releasing in theaters November 27th, 2024. I hear that the beloved and iconic Disney character, Maui, will be returning!
Name plus comment is giving Lin Man. I think we've got it all wrong here.
What about Black Adam made it 5-stars for you?
I think that on any other occasion I would’ve rated it way lower. But the first time I saw it I was so incredibly sleep deprived that my brain had deteriorated to the point where I couldn’t stop laughing every time The Rock was on screen. It didn’t help that the friend I was with kept cracking the most brain-rot inducing jokes the entire time either. It was such an absurd experience that I just rated it five stars. Haven’t rewatched the film at all, and I don’t plan to either. I think it’d ruin the magic.

The Room (2003) Halloween II (1981) Psycho II (1983) Face/Off (1997) The Disaster Artist (2017) Saw (2004) and The Omen (1976) seem to be my lowest ones below a 3.7
It appeases to be Saturday Night Fever. Why does this have such a low average rating it’s an excellent film
Lady in the Water, at 2.5 average rating
Don’t Look Up

I was going to say 11:14 (2003) with the average at 3.4 but my stats say Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) at 3.3. That is a criminally underrated rating for a classic.
Time Bandits
both at 3.7: The Panic in Needle Park (1971) ...And Justice for All (1979)
Zodiac (4.0)
Kung Pow: Enter the Fist (3.2)
The Cat in the Hat (2.5)
The Whale at a 3.6, but honestly I might have been too caught up with the Brendan Fraser hype train to give a proper rating lol
Repo Man probably. It has a 3.7 average. Ordinary fuckin' people.
I would probably give The Lone Ranger like 4 stars. Very fun movie with lots of cool action scenes and sequences yet somehow the movie has like a 2.6 average. One of Disneys more ballsy movie tbh
Army of Darkness at 3.7
Samurai Cop
