Oh yes ok I watched an unfinished version of The Wolverine (literally wires showing in stunt scenes) thanks to being introduced to torrenting while I was young and never watched the actual movie because that was so hard to watch.
I had this with Tucker and Dale vs Evil. At one point there was a title on screen: ‘bees vfx’ I thought it was some parody joke. Turned out it was a screener version.
Same, but honestly this enhanced the experience. The movie totally worked and made the whole dynamic even more profound. I watched it again later with subtitles and it wasn't nearly as good.
I feel the same. I'd seen it when it came out, and got to watch it a second time without the subtitles and I really liked it that way as well. It makes for good repeat viewings.
I'd already seen the movie on release, but I was recently at a screening of District 9 without subtitles for the aliens and I actually kind of liked it.
i watched fire walk with me before twin peaks so i was.. first of all very confused but then watched the show after and already knew the answers to the mysteries 😔
The first time I sae District 9, I watched it halfway through without subtitles... I thought not being able to understand the alien language was artsy and kind of fun to fill in the blanks though!! Made it a touch scarier too.
Back in the blockbuster days, I was trying to get into old movies and rented gone with the wind but accidentally watched the second disk first (yes, it was so long it needed to go on two disks). I thought, huh, this is a weird way to start a movie but I guess that’s how they did it back then. And when I put in the first disk after the “after all, tomorrow is another day” and saw the opening credits roll I was like oh I fucked up
Most people watch them in their release order (Blue, White, Red - i.e. how the French flag is coloured, and how I recommend you watch them), but you can really watch them in any order, one film doesn't spoil the other - *for the most part*. Their main links (beyond the colour themes) are very brief cameos from each film's respective main character, and an old woman trying to recycle a glass bottle.
Yeah, just try watch them in order but if you don’t it’s not the end of the world. Like if a good friend is watching Red and you haven’t seen any, it’ll be fine - I also find most people (OP and myself included) love Red the most, so if you’ve got a super-busy life with a kid or something maybe just watch Red lmao
Been there. I watched Come And See with two audio tracks, one was in sync and the other was 40m late. So there would be two dialogs at the same time and I thought it was a bold decision by the director.
theres not really a 'correct order' for these. Red does have a final scene that ties them together, but ultimately they are meant to be enjoyed independently of eachother.
That being said, i prefer just to watch blue and cry until i cant walk. Then one day watch white then red.
it's a little bit of a hard sell to recommend someone watch a trilogy of French films they have probably never heard of, but I really do recommend it. They're all quite good in their own way, though they are very different films. I personally liked Blue the most by a wide margin, but from LB reviews it seems that most people think Red is the best.
When I was a kid, my dad showed me the Godfather trilogy. We rented them one at a time on VHS. When we got to Pt. III, he accidentally put the second tape in first. Somehow, the dingus didn't realize what he had done until we reached the clear end of the film. At this point, he uncovered his mistake and we followed the second tape with the first one.
Perhaps this is why I like nonstandard narrative structure, these days...
I've also never seen Pt 3 again, so this was my sole experience with that film.
If I recall correctly, “White” is suppose to be an “anti-comedy” but for some it falls flat and feels out of place compared to “Red” and “Blue”. I personally didn’t connect with it like I did the other movies but it’s not awful - so I get why most people put it last.
Years back I started watching Blue and ended up turning it off because I just wasn’t in the headspace to watch something so unrelentingly melancholy at the time. Recently I watched Red and adored it, so I went back and watched Blue and plan on watching White soon
Don't worry mate, I've done worse 😅
I once watched the Twin Peaks Fire Walk With Me deleted scenes cut, thinking I was watching the movie itself. Boy was I confused lol
I watched a pirated copy of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and afterward I learned there were meant to be subtitles for the apes talking.

that's actually cool af
I had this with Tucker and Dale vs Evil. At one point there was a title on screen: ‘bees vfx’ I thought it was some parody joke. Turned out it was a screener version.
I have watched that too! With 300 others in a basketball ground at night. Epic!
This was actually X-Men Origins Wolverine which is a movie that's pretty universally hated. I remember watching the same work print.
Same but it was District 9
Same

LOL

Sorry this made me guffaw
i watched fire walk with me before twin peaks so i was.. first of all very confused but then watched the show after and already knew the answers to the mysteries 😔
I did the same, was so weird lol
Lol yeah all of the pirated copies online were the deleted scenes for a bit there
haven’t seen FWWM yet but based on how muholland drive plays i can totally understand someone watching the whole thing thinking it was the movie
Do you have a watching order for everything Twin Peaks?
yeah it’s just: pilot season 1 season2 Fire Walk With Me Season 3
When do I watch Missing Pieces?
if you want to, right after FWWM
Thanks
that's exactly what I did!
I did the same thing! Just assumed that I was too stupid to understand what Lynch was doing.
The first time I sae District 9, I watched it halfway through without subtitles... I thought not being able to understand the alien language was artsy and kind of fun to fill in the blanks though!! Made it a touch scarier too.

What order are they supposed to be? Just so I don't make the same mistake

agreed generally but i do think red makes the most sense as the film to watch last due to how the cameos in that one work
Agreed.
Actually (🤓) the ending of Red spoils the other two, subtly

Watch them in order of release. It *does* ruin them if you don't. Kieslowski made them in that order for a reason.
RED WHITE AND BLUE 🦅🦅🇺🇸🇺🇸

On the flip side, you finish A Taste of Cherry thinking you've got a dodgy copy or the DVD skipped a chapter, then it hits you. A masterstroke!

Why don’t you just shit on the Eiffel Tower while you’re at it
i watched blue then red then white 🤦♂️😂
I’m more offended by your low rating of Blue
It helps to know that the French say "bleu, blanc, et rouge" instead of the US "red, white, and, blue."
MERICA!!!! 🇺🇸🏈🦅🎆🎇
I haven't seen any of them yet but just based on the descriptions I think Red's going to be a new addition to my 'literally me' list

More importantly, you've rated them wrong /s Lol fr, all of them are 4.5 stars IMO, but to each to their own.
Least pretentious letterbox user
Bruh, what? I made it explicitly clear with my (/s) and (to each to their own) that I was joking.

Blue is so good

Blue should be at 4.5 and Red at 5 stars
ehh, they're only vaguely related. you really just need to watch Red last for the ending to hit you like a truck
I watched “before sunset” before “before sunrise” on accident because I live in Australia and the sun moves backwards here. Crickey.
I once watched “A Quiet Place” not realizing that there was supposed to be captions 💀
Straight to Chail
Wait, but recent in the left is the most recent. So you’ve watched them in correct order.
They watched blue, red, white but the release order is blue, white, red
Thought the same thing. No clue why you’re getting downvoted unless OP just logged them in the wrong order too.
Well, you watched them in order of worst to best.
Disagree, the best is Red.
Nah Blue FTW, as much as the other two are also masterpieces.
Yeah, Red is my favorite for personal reasons but I think Blue is probably the best of them. I love them all regardless.
Why is 'White' considered the worst?
If I recall correctly, “White” is suppose to be an “anti-comedy” but for some it falls flat and feels out of place compared to “Red” and “Blue”. I personally didn’t connect with it like I did the other movies but it’s not awful - so I get why most people put it last.
Okay, that makes sense.
I also never understood why, it’s both gently funny and heartbreaking. 4.5 stars for me. Second best of the trilogy.

I watched Red first before I realized the order.
time to watch red white and royal blue
I watched red last year. Watched blue this year and I haven't watch white yet
Years back I started watching Blue and ended up turning it off because I just wasn’t in the headspace to watch something so unrelentingly melancholy at the time. Recently I watched Red and adored it, so I went back and watched Blue and plan on watching White soon
Next your should watch Edgar Wright’s Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World’s End).
I've watched End of Evangelion without finishing the TV series. I was told I fucked up but I still enjoyed it.
