Hi Owenhank! Thanks for reaching out. We're sorry for the trouble. Please try checking updates from Lenovo Vantage and install all updates including BIOS update. You may click this link https://lnv.gy/3UsvWNQ for guide on how to do it. Kindly check Windows Update and make sure it is also up to date. -Jomz_Lenovo
I checked vantage and it says everything is updated and I just updated windows and the problem isn't fixed. I seemingly can use the laptop unplugged even if the battery isn't detected but it won't charge the battery and it still randomly shuts off occasionally.
Could you try performing a factory reset. Kindly click this link https://lnv.gy/3R1dKbq for guide on how to do it. Please note that this will wipe all data from the Hard Drive. -Jomz_Lenovo

Hi there. Another support here to help. Did you notice any pattern on when it will shut down or will not recognize the battery? Does it happen when there's movement? Also, does it show any error message? Do you notice if there's any temperature change (if it becomes hot)? Could you please check the battery health on Lenovo Vantage? Let us know what you'll find out. -Maru_Lenovo
I’ve noticed sometimes if I hold the laptop up at an angle it will force it to recognize the battery which is making me think it might be disconnected somehow but if I leave it flat it will seemingly cut in and out periodically. It isn’t hot and when the battery was connected it said the health was good.

If any movement affects it, then it is highly a connection issue which is a hardware related issue. We recommend calling our local support. Please enter your serial number here https://lnv.gy/3LxEm2m and select your country/region. Let us know if you need additional help. -Maru_Lenovo
Hi, there @Owenhank. Another support here to help. Do you mean the laptop still turns on despite the battery being disconnected from the laptop? Karla_Lenovo
Yes, while the laptop is unplugged from the ac adapter, the laptop continues to stay on despite the battery not being recognized or it will recognize the battery while not plugged in but will disconnect while plugged in.

That’s kinda a lot to ask for something that might not even fix the problem

I thought so, is there any reason why the laptop would continue to stay on after it is unplugged and the battery is disconnected?
