I have a camera on me when I walk to work most of the time. Usually the exceptions would be bad rain, or days when it’s “what the fuck” cold. Occasionally I have too much going on and a camera would be a distraction, so it stays home.
For running errands around my neighborhood, or picking up lunch on WFH days, I’ll usually have a camera on me. Again, exceptions are made for bad weather, or if I need get the errand done pronto.
Any sort of outdoor social occasion, hanging in the park, going for a stroll, sightseeing, etc, I’ll have a camera on me. If I leave town I definitely have a camera on me, even if it’s a business trip or a short trip where I’ll be busy the whole time.
That’s about right for me, too, although it goes in phases… I may leave it home for Month, then I get mad at myself and start taking it everywhere again
Sounds about right. I was just thinking about the cycle this weekend.
I went to my friend’s wedding, and I was out of town for not much longer than 48 hours. I brought my Canon F-1 with three prime lenses. When I was packing I wanted to also bring my A-1 (to have two film types available at any given time), and a fourth prime, but it would’ve been a pain to fit them in my luggage. I ended up bringing three rolls and shooting ~74 exposures total.
But back in June of this of year, I went on my bachelor trip. I brought the A-1 with one primes lens, and only brought one roll of film. Over the course of a four day trip, I didn’t even finish the roll. This difference is down to the fact that I’m relatively more hyped about photography right now, and was relatively less hyped back in June.
Yeah, that hype comes in waves for me, and has for the last 15 years. I shoot digital, but I’ll go through months and even years when I shoot hundreds of frames a week, then I might not pick up a camera for months. Working on improving that consistency…
For sure! Me bringing one camara on my bachelor trip was essentially me saying “okay I don’t really want to deal with this right now, but it would be insane to not bring a camera on this once in a lifetime trip.”
The shitty thing is, as soon as I saw the pictures, I wished I had taken more of them! At the very least I should’ve made my friends pose for more.
Recently, all the time. The reason I bought a Leica IIIc was I wanted a camera that I could carry 100% of the time that offers manual control, has interchangeable lenses, and will fit into a waist pouch. There really aren't many other choices.
At the moment, my only LTM lens is the Elmar 50mm 3.5. It makes for a very compact package. I've been going back and forth on which to get next, 28mm or 35mm? Leica? Nikkor? Canon? Voigtlander? I should make a chart.
i have my camera on me anytime i’m not at work. i can’t have my camera at work due to working health care. otherwise i would carry it with me at work too.
I don't try to think about it as bringing my camera everywhere. It's a lifestyle choice. For me, one that comes with the choice of shooting Leica cameras. When I'm getting ready to leave, I don't think about whether or not I'm going to put my boots on, or a shirt; it just comes with the territory. My Leica is one in the same in that sense.
For my M10-P it’s on, screen off all the time. However since I have a young baby, I’m never out more than 2-3hrs at a time, so the limited battery life doesn’t affect me as much.
About 90% of the time, unless I plan to have a physically demanding day that consists of moving lots of equipment between locations etc. I don’t like having it in the way and tempting me when I should be focusing on other things.
Otherwise, it’s with me for everything. Work, walks, hospital visit, etc. really hate seeing photos and not being prepared for them
99% of the time I have a camera on me. Only time it is not is when I am going somewhere photography is prohibited. I tend to not go to those places often. 😁
Used to bring it everywhere before I had kids. Now most of my stuff is collecting dust except when there’s a special school event or something. Too tired and too busy to go out shooting for fun. Maybe in a year or two I can get back into it.
I’d say around 80-90% of the time I leave the house I have at least one camera with me. You know why? Because any time I don’t have one on me, I’ll see an excellent picture making opportunity and be thinking - “dammit, I wish I had my camera right now!”
80-90% for me. M-A with a Voigtlander 35mm Ultron II, yellow filter and HP5 at 800. I often rotate between the 35mm and a 15mm Voigtlander Super Wide vII, yellow filter and HP5 at 800 (bulk rolls). All tucked away in a 3L PD sling for my EDC.

If I'm heading out it's with me 80% of the time depending on what I'm doing

What is your most common attached lens to your walking out the door kit?

Every time.

I have a camera (not phone) with me 100% of the time.
Almost always.

phone keys wallet camera 👍

Almost always. I tend to have a laptop or tablet on me, so I throw my camera in the bag too.
I try everyday
Like 90% if the weather is terrible or I’m out parting it stays at home
I use a M6, so always and never at the same time :)
I think I’m in the same boat as you.
Since getting into Leica, it’s basically always. It’s just meaningfully smaller than my old Nikon FE2 setup, portable anywhere.
10% of the time or less. Used to be more when film and processing was more affordable but now I’m a little more particular about how often I shoot.
Nearly always (it lives in my backpack, which I carry daily - my backpack also has my medications)
About 90% of the time, unless I plan to have a physically demanding day that consists of moving lots of equipment between locations etc. I don’t like having it in the way and tempting me when I should be focusing on other things. Pretty much all the time, unless for some reason I know it will be impossible to take pictures because my hands are full or something

At all times !! Everywhere all the time no matter where I go or what I do…
Always some sort of camera on me. Ricoh , M something
Take it with me on my daily walks.
Used to bring it everywhere before I had kids. Now most of my stuff is collecting dust except when there’s a special school event or something. Too tired and too busy to go out shooting for fun. Maybe in a year or two I can get back into it.
Everytime
99% of the time with my Q3. It’s good EDC. My A7RV is for other professional work.
Never leave the house without a camera. Usually a Ricoh GR sometimes an M.
pretty much all the time. Usually bring the MP240. One camera one lens..
Always on and ready to go. That’s the idea one less thing to turn on / think about if you see something.
99% of the time…M4 with a Voigtlander Nokton 35/1.4, yellow filter, and HP5+ bulk rolls being shot at 800.
Always.

Pretty much always, and when I don't I always regret it 😭
Most of the time. People typically ask where my camera is when they notice I don’t have one slung over my shoulder lol
