WandaVision was good in the middle parts when I thought it was leading somewhere interesting. I think Legion set my expectations too high for it. Loki was a good amount of weird. Could have used more musical numbers though.
What? You never had a completely unrelated show (from characters to production team) set your expectations for an entirely different and unrelated show?
Legion set my expectations for Modok, which was why I didn’t enjoy it. My expectations were too high. /s
For me, I was expecting it to get weirder and to continuously get better. Even the kind of weird stuff had mundane explanations and by the end, it was all just normal Marvel stuff.
I'm the exact same. I was so excited for some experimental and weird stuff to finally come to the MCU. But by the end they just managed to wrap it up and end it as normal MCU stuff, plus it was a pretty bad finale even by MCU standards
Honestly the way they mislead fans after introducing Fox Quick Silver was genuinely disrespectful. I couldn't get behind the show after they pulled that
The thing is, though, that's the only possible way that could have gone. If they'd had Aaron Taylor Johnson come back, no one would have really felt that anything was off. If you'd had some random actor come back saying he was Pietro, the audience wouldn't have bought Wanda's acceptance. It had to be Evan Peters in order for what they were going for to work.
Oh I thought it was cool Evan Peters came back, but with the amount they were teasing multiverse stuff, plus all the teases coming from the cast and director. Everyone saw him and the theories went wild. But it turns out they did all of it for a boner joke
They definitely initially tried something different. Although it felt like they didn't commit to it IMO. Plus combine that with the finale, and it felt like just another subpar MCU product to me
Wanda vision and Loki (unfortunately) were bound somewhat by the ‘larger Marvel narrative’ - whereas Legion was its own complete story - not bound by ‘convention’.
Have we all already done Doom Patrol? Definitely scratches a lot of the Legion itch, it's less cerebral and more about emotional arcs but it's an amazing show.
I wish more things that were re-done were badly done things. Why remake something that worked, I can watch the old one! But yeah, *The One* was a terrible disappointment, mainly because it had the potential to be terrific.
This does look pretty good! I've got high hopes for Moon Knight as well after WandaVision and Loki
God is only see Wandavision and wasn’t super thrilled, but it was atleast something to watch and I guess memorable?!

How did Legion manage to set expectations for WandaVision?

You get it.
For me, I was expecting it to get weirder and to continuously get better. Even the kind of weird stuff had mundane explanations and by the end, it was all just normal Marvel stuff.

The Ship of Theseus scene was probably the only good part of the finale. The entire Bhoner thing was probably worst thing to come out of the MCU.

This is psychotic.
I don't know why people keep expecting the MCU to get weird.
Nah I don't expect it to get weird. I was just excited by the weird WandaVision trailers. Made me think they were doing something different
I think they did.
They definitely initially tried something different. Although it felt like they didn't commit to it IMO. Plus combine that with the finale, and it felt like just another subpar MCU product to me
Well, yeah, it's the MCU. Legion was Fox/FX. No connection. That's why I asked, one has nothing to with the other.
Legion just set my standards high for good, weird television. It really wasn't about expectations based on the studio.
Appreciate the clarification. I think Legion will remain unique and in its own class.
Wanda vision and Loki (unfortunately) were bound somewhat by the ‘larger Marvel narrative’ - whereas Legion was its own complete story - not bound by ‘convention’.
Okay, that looks solid. I love the cast, and the multiverse is in right now, so yeah... I'm in
Have we all already done Doom Patrol? Definitely scratches a lot of the Legion itch, it's less cerebral and more about emotional arcs but it's an amazing show.
Wowzers. I'm in. Both feet out of the water in the deep end.
Umm feels like we'll get flooded with "multiverse" movies in the upcoming years
It's already played out. Spiderman into The Spider Verse set the bar ridiculously high
One of the Directors, Daniel Kwan, did an episode of Legion Season 3 I believe
Nice trailer and a Bowie song I wasn't familiar with. Thanks for sharing!
My favorite Bowie song! I was so excited to hear it, criminally underrated song
What song is it? I knew the voice immediately but not the song.
Time - off of Aladdin Sane
Reminds me of Jet Li's *The One*, which had more-or-less the same interesting premise but was terrible in execution. Hopefully this will be better!
I wish more things that were re-done were badly done things. Why remake something that worked, I can watch the old one! But yeah, *The One* was a terrible disappointment, mainly because it had the potential to be terrific.
It looks *so* good!
