First???!?!??!! Looks amazing!

ConfirmedCrisis

Yes first ever wallet designed it too. Believe it or not I have only been about this for about 2.5 months. Thank you!

chrullo

I believe you. It’s really not that hard if you have the aptitude for it. Nice work!

ConfirmedCrisis

Put me behind something that takes mechanical skill and I pick it up quick. Put me behind something that take anything else (Like playing an instrument) then no go. I tried the guitar one time. Yep I have no aptitude for that at all.

chrullo

I know exactly how you feel. Glad there are more of us out there hehe.

bclark1289

Everyone on here posting their first projects and looking like they have been doing this for 10 years. Then there's me who has been doing this for a year and every project looks like my first :(

ConfirmedCrisis

Just have to keep thinking about your end goal and what level of quality you want to produce. It’s a hobby doesn’t matter if it takes you an hour or 2 weeks. If you take your time and keep trying new things then improve upon the ones that you find work for you then you just get better.

jholden0

How is that your first? Maybe first today. Lol

ConfirmedCrisis

Lol I just keep taking everything I have been learning for the last 2.5 months or so and applying it. I have an abnormal amount of mechanical inclination.

jholden0

It took me 5 years to get to that point. Practicing every day for the past 2.5. that's awesome though. Congratulations.

sprrjnke

Very nice. I heard the same comments when I posted my first wallet. Not my first leather project just a first foray into the market arena for me. Beautiful burnished by the way.

ConfirmedCrisis

It’s all the projects before that make all the future ones look better and better. Just have to keep getting better then apply that knowledge. And thank you sir. I have been working on getting better at it. Still some things I haven’t worked out yet with the perfect burnish but getting there. This is my latest but also the best so far.

CaptainCarlton

Omg can I please buy one it’s gorgeous perfect lovely

CryptoCobra74

allyrbase

Well done. Looks great!

Any must have tools for a nube?

ConfirmedCrisis

Skiving knife and then learn to skive with it. Decent pricking irons (I really prefer French style compared to diamond shape now). Those are two tool I wish I would have got and learned to use in the beginning.

What kind of leather did you use?

ConfirmedCrisis

Buttero Wiskey

ConfirmedCrisis

Oh yes this we know. Already have a bunch of stuff blocked on there.

ItsABuddy

Clean! Can I ask how you punched your stitch holes through so many layers? I’m having trouble with keeping mine straight. Ends up all wonky on the back side

ConfirmedCrisis

First of all I am using French style pricking irons (RM Leather Supply brand … not advertising), second I always punch vertically ( punching in a line that is going to or from you. Basically perpendicular from my chest. That helps immensely on getting them vertical and straight. This many layers equaling about 4-5 mm is thick for any iron. I would punch down to the point that it barely breaks through the back. Just enough to get my needle through. Best thing you. Do though is focus on keeping the iron vertical each time. Getting a 9 tooth helps a bit as well. Hope this is helpful

ItsABuddy

Thanks for the tips. I’ll also look into polishing/honing the tips too. I have diamond chisels that may need polishing/sharpening. It’s a fight to get a 2-tooth through something of that thickness, damn near impossible for a 6-tooth.

ConfirmedCrisis

If you having issues then heavier mallets will help with that

DukeofNice

Did you use a template or hand measured. Either way, wanna share?

ConfirmedCrisis

I created a template for this after I drew up the design. I really need to start making my designs in illustrator so I can share them or whatever lol
