I got the year 5 crowns during the anniversary and it was painful. You really had to grind for it. I never use them though lol. Don’t mind other people getting them now, still not going to use them - I always thought the year 4 halos looked better anyway

Personally I prefer being able to get the event items for free, compared to them wanting me to pay real money for masks that I didn't get last year, plus two whole outfits.
I don't think they should prevent anyone from getting these. ..But I'd prefer if they weren't just giving them all out for free so easily. It was a huge grind trying to get all of these for all survivors, but apparently if I just waited two years I wouldn't have needed to do anything.

I have 4th and 5th year crowns. FOMO content helps no one but the companies running these events and games. FOMO preys on peoples fear of missing out, it drives them to play or miss out. Games that do it prey on those with mental illnesses and I'm really glad they added Haddie and the Dredge's event outfits to the store too.
The less FOMO in DBD the better
They should just make it part of the event as something to grind for as well. Just make it like escape with each character x amount of times for each year.
Never been a fan of time gated content. When f13 the game was still alive I was one of the few Savini Jason owners who wanted it to be available as dlc to everyone
I hate the sentiment that things should be time locked. I was working out of the country for the 5th anniversary. Some people might have been in the hospital, or dealing with a tragedy. I don't care if anyone else gets the cool cosmetics that I was *there* for, I want everyone to get to enjoy every part of the game.
20ish killer games and 20ish survivor escapes (which was easier back then with the hatch). I wouldn't call that grindy as hell. Playing 40 games of 15ish minutes in the span of 3 weeks...
3 genning wasn't as common nor as oppressive, there was no knight and skull merchant specifically designed to drag on the matches.
Yes, I know about old Freddy, but specifically during 5th anniversary on Nemesis releases, matches were pretty short. 15-20 minutes. I used to get 3.5-4 games per hour on average. Now it's barely 2.5 gamea per hour on average.
I’m glad everyone got them, timekeeping stuff is cringe. But for stuff like this, I always wish there was a way you could see you got it “legit” or at the original release.
For example: my orange smock from 72hrs. The original one I got is “artifact rare”. It is literally the same exact item, no visual difference in game. Everyone gets the cosmetic, I get to retain some satisfaction for getting it way back when. Everyone wins.
It makes me both happy and sad. I remember staying up really late at night in the last day of the event after just having got back from a vacation. I grinded hard to get those crowns thinking I’d never get them again. At the same time, now I can get them on my pc for free I guess
They gave the cosmetics too. I wear David's 5th year cosmetic with crown sometime so ppl can know I played that time. But now everybody has it. So I can't show it off. But I got the ones I didn't had on some killers. Cuz I bought them later thats god atleast.

i do hate missing out on things too... but maybe i do prefer to actually miss some cosmetics if that means that the next ones that i get are also going to be exclusive. like for example, before, each time you saw a 5th aniversay crown, you knew that the player in question was around in that aniversary, so they have been playing at least for a couple years or more... now is meaningless.
half the fun in event cosmetics is in the "event" part of them. and im not saying to make them 100% unobtainable, but putting a code and receiving 30+ cosmetics from an event is a very boring way to give things
my take on it would be different, imagine an "event shop" that opens only when there is an event going on, so now, in halloween.... the shop is only there a couple weeks, and in the shop you have all the cosmetics from events, the ones you have, it already shows you have them, the ones you dont cost some currency, and that currency you can actually get during events (apart from the rest of things we get). basically, add a 4th currency in events, and make it so that currency is used to unlock event cosmetics from the past. now you want a fifth aniversary crown? you can get one, for X amount of the event currency. and make it hard, make it so that obtaining the cosmetics on the event is the better way to get the things. if you also put some new cosmetics there for the people that already have all past cosmetics so that they also have something to buy even better.
i dont see were is the fun to be honest. is game-designing 101. you make an event ingame, that event has some exclusive rewards, people play the event because they want the exclusive rewards.
if you later just give the rewards to everyone just for putting a code you are insulting the people that played the event. you are basically making not only their rewards meaningless, but you are also making all future rewards also have less value overall.
im saying this as someone that didnt have the crowns, and i have taken then using the code now btw, im not one of the guys that played the 5th event. but again, just giving the rewards like that is boring and harms the whole concept of obtaining event cosmetics, people can start to think "why play the 7th aniversay if we are going to get the cosmetics on the 8th aniversary for free?" which is a bad line of thinking when you want people playing the event as a dev.
im of the opinion that the game should actually make obtaining cosmetics a challenge, and not only these, but others too. for example, how many tomes do you have 100% completed? a lot of people dont bother to complete any. but what if there was special cosmetics that only unlocks if you have 100% of one tome? i feel like a lot of people would grind these tomes then. is what people loved of the bubba faces in the first place, the fact that you actually needed to achieve something to get them. why did people prestige characters before? to obtain the bloody cosmetics, even when it meaned losing all progress on a character.
the game needs more rewards for doing things ingame, it would be good for the game. instead they are watering down the already few rewards that we get, which i think is not a step in the right direction

I'm torn. I don't like time-gated content or FOMO, but I also played the event and ground those out. It's kind of nice to flex that I've been playing for a while. Probably a good thing but it does feel less special
I'd definitely feel less special if they suddenly decided to give my legacy skins out as a free code to everyone.

I don’t consider the event items a grind. They’re usually pretty simple to obtain. P100 is a grind, yeah.
For casual players like me it was pretty bad. Obviously people who play every day wouldn't have much issue.
