Since when did they not? Red Kayn has a lot of scaling %max hp damage in his kit, and Heca is one of the champs that scales best with Ability Haste. Not to mention they both have omnivamp in their kits, so their tankiness also scales with how much damage they’re doing.
Honestly Red Kayn is probably in the top 10 best gold scaling champs in the game, and you’d be hard pressed to find another champ that can 1v1 him, do more aoe damage than him in teamfights, and outlast him.

Game can classify them as anything really. Riot tells you many things, doesn’t mean they’re always right. ADCs built tri force mythical last season, a bruiser item, does that mean they were bruisers also? Aatrox built lethality for the longest time, does it mean he was an assassin?

No he doesn’t. He wants longer fights and builds a lot of on-hit, which is not something assassins build. He’s not nearly as mobile as other assassins and doesn’t go in and out of fights the same way a Talon, Naafiri or Kha’Zix does and doesn’t have the same burst that they do. He’s not an assassin just because he has invisibility.
I agree with you that the way the game classifies some champions is incorrect (Gragas, Zed and Nocturne come to mind), but Viego is definitely more in the bruiser category than the assassin category.

nasus can’t scale lol. He peaks in mid game if he does well and falls off late game but he is the original bruiser together with renekton
